(2009/03) March 2009 MTBs

mangogal, my boy also like to sleep on my tummy (his head on my tummy) when he co-sleep with us..

bb Jo also like to put his head down to see backwards..e.g...standing with both leg and hands on the floor with the head down and look behind thru his leg..can understand my explanation?

Hey who are Fen Miyo and Donna Lee? Can PM me instead of posting here. You added me on FB but I am not sure if it's someone from the forum or random people. Let me know!

And man, another tough week at work while DH is away yet again. Really looking forward to our summer break

sun my boy took..
it's not compulsory but best to take..
but for NB babies now it's compulsory already..it's included in their health booklet

sun, my boy also took already..at polyclinic..$160 (can claim from medisave), 1 jab only if bb is 1yrs old n above..no fever and no rashes..just very cranky n looks tired..

sun, yes i will..don worry to return me by today..u may wan to bring ur boy to swimming pool n let him try to swim with the float..anyway i don think i will use it these few weeks..if i need then i will get from u also no problem..just let me know lar..

Hi Mummies,

Long time didnt log in liao. Just came back frm my business trip 1 wk ago. had been busy till now. I had hard time reading through all the postings! haha.

sunshinebaby & st
thought it's already compulsory for all babies below 5 years old? I had brought my gal go polyclinic 4 e jab as can use medisave 2 pay 4 it. it's $165 for the jab. u just need 2 pay cash of abt $3+ for some fees.

Sharlin
yes it's compulsory for all babies now but becos our bbs were born before this jab is make compulsory therefore we can chose..but of cos it's best to take..

jo
wow now so good last year my PD told me after 1 yrs onld will be 2 jabs only 2yrs then 1 jab..now they change to 1 jab for 1yrs and above argrrrr...i should wait then can save $$ kekek

st, yes its best to take..the polyclinic told me its only 1 jab after 1yrs old..so i waited till he 1yrs old then quickly take the jab..even postponed the chicken pox jab..hahha..

jo
sob sob my boy need to take 3 jabs..wow 2 more jabs for him..anyway we also KS leh..wanted him to have more protection lol

jo
thks for yr offer, anyway i've brought the float n swimsuit to my parent place tis morning, so will pass to u 2nite then... ^_^

tot chicken pox n MMR taken only at 15 mths? my hb called the clinic tis morning n the nurse advise him tat MMR + chicken pox (2 in 1) to be taken when my boi is 15 mths... me a bit confused now...

sharlin, jo
need to wait long for the jab @ polyclinic?

st
hv called the clinic n my boi next jab will be the hep B jab - #4... wondering can take w the pneumoccocal jab, will chk w her next fri...
but high possibility cannot mix ba...

sun, okie..text me when u r coming..i will get it from u at void deck..

for polyclinic, avoid appointment on Mon or Fri..best is early morning ard 8-9am then u wont need to wait for long queue..normally for bb Jo, we only need to wait like 10mins..

polyclinic do not have the MMRV jab (MMR+chix pox). they separate de jab..chicken pox can be taken anytime after 1yrs old..MMR(given FOC by polyclinic) is to be taken when they are 15mths..pneumococcal cannot b taken tgt with other jab..after taken the pneumococcal jab, must wait for 1mth for another jab...

jo
1 jab only for 1 yr above? But last year when i called up PD and checked, she said needs more than 1 jab lei. my gal had taken 2 jabs be4 one year old. going 4 another jab in May.

sunshinebaby
Actually for polyclinic, u can fix appt with them. But i would like to highlight 2 u tat during ur 1st visit, e waiting time will be longer even u got appt. Caused first time ur baby go polyclinic, they will ask u 2 let e doc check ur baby be4 e jab. and e waiting time 4 e doc is quite long. after my 1st visit, normally i waiting 4 abt 15mins-20mins for the jab.

Sharlin, yes only 1jab for 1yr above..this is wat they tell me lar at polyclinic..i know for below 1yrs old is like 2-3jabs at PD..hmm..now a bit confused and worry too...

pneumococcal jab
to what i know(I may be wrong)..before 6 mths it's 4 jabs after 6 mths is 3 jabs after 1yr is 2 jabs and after 2yrs is 1 jab..these was based on what my PD told me last year..

so not sure if there are any new changes now..but for the new health booklet it's only total of 3 jabs pneumococcal jab.

Hey..
this is what my PD gave me this schedule of the jabs after 1 year old..

Hep A 12 months
Chicken pox 13 months
MMR 15 months
DPT/IPV/Hib 18 months
Hep A 19 months

vaccine for pneumococcal is prevenar..lemme check..its 3 jabs spreadout before turning one year old..

Hmmm so can take a single MMRV at 15 months.. at 13 months the buttocks can rest from jab.. :p she will be so delighted to know that...

Asura,
Thank you very much for your info. Btw, what is QCR & WMCR ? Is it compounsory to file ? I better try whether can login-in or not, I had not been filing for 2 yrs... Since Parenthood Tax Rebate is one time for 1st child, think better file & entitle for it
happy.gif

pneumococcal & other jabs schedule
I think different PD will give different jabs schedule. My boy had taken 3 Pneumococcal before 1yr old, & this month he will be taken another Pneumococcal. since now can deduct from medisave for Pneumococcal, I better apply to it.. very expensive jab !

Piggysg,

No prob..
happy.gif

QCR = Qualifying Child Relief ($4000)
WMCR = Working Mother Child Relief (15% of earned income)

For the rebate, if there is no plans to re-join the work force, just indicate 100% to spouse.

Piggysg
u need to check if your PD apply for the medisave deduction cos my PD dun have so can't use medisave for the jab
sad.gif

Hi Asura & Mummies,
Thanks ! Just called to IRAS to guide me for the filing.

Parenthood Tax Rebate, not necessary you need to claim/file this yr. You're given 9yrs period to claim for this. In this case, this yr I don't intend to claim, wait till next yr. I want to see after all the rebate, must I still need to pay tax. If no, then I'll transfer to hb.

St & Sharlin,
Thanks for advise. I have check w my PD, I can use medisave for deduction. Btw, you medisave for all or certain jabs ? I've no idea can use medisave, I've been paying cash
sad.gif
I only can use CDA which I don't intend to touch on it.

piggysg
which PD u go? so gd can use medisave. I not too sure whether other jabs can use medisave or not. I tink must be approved by government rite? So far, i had only use medisave for pneumococcal as I read through that can use medisave 4 tat and some more tis jab is so x. haha. me too also dnt wan touch CDA. Wan use tat just 4 education purpose lor

sharlin
I use CDA for all my bb's jab too @ kidslink but PD very exp lo..if i m not wrong, ve used ard $2k+ since her birth juz for injections ( i took almost all tat PD suggested plus rotavirus, pneumococcal..)

Re jabs:
Mummies, Me MIA for almost 2 wks cos my boy fever after pneumoccal + chicken pox jab. The last i posted, he had temp < 38.5. And then fever didn't subside after taking panadol and even shoot up over 39. In the end, brought him back to PD and she said its unlikely due to jab, probbably viral fever and also gave the stronger panadol. And it took his fever 5 full days to fully recover. Some things to share with all:

-My PD told me he has to take 2 pneumoccal jabs since he is taking after 1 yr old.

-Pls try not to take 2 jabs at one go like i did. Although pd said only 15% chance of fever for the 2 jabs combined, a family fren who is a GP and now 70yr old with years of experience said its rare but possible for such high fever like my boy as his body can't take it. As a mummy, my instinct is that the fever was due to the jabs becos my boy got the fever the same nite after jab and the weird thing is thru out the few days where he had fever, he was eating, playing normally, in fact u can't tell he has such high fever if u don't touch him. If he is really sick, he wld have been cranky and no appetite.

Needless to say, both myself & hubby only slept at most 3-4 hrs a nite cos gotta keep checking his temp. As if its not bad enough, after he recovered from fever, he started to have runny nose and then cough + phelgm which I suspect was due to him being weakened by the jabs + fever and also caught a chill as he was sweating lots with the panadol. He was waking up 4-5 times a nite in agony cos of block nose & discomfort. He also had no appetite and only drinking 2-3 oz milk each feed and took very little semi solid. And then both my hubby + myself also sick due to lack of sleep. Am still recovering from flu and cough which has been dragging on for so long due to lack of rest. REally siong, sigh, really regret letting him take 2 jabs.

-Also took my boy to see the Yu Guo baby tui na when he was down with flu & cough. Now he is much better

Hi I'm new here. Just wanna say hi to all the march mummies. I've been an avid reader of the march09 MTB forum since pregnancy days and have been following the chats throughout the past year (my boy was born on 11 March 09) but just never got down to signing up for an account.

Thanks to all mummies for their contributions. The info has indeed been very helpful to me!

thanks very much mummies!

Piggysg & Wintertime,
i hope it's cradle cap. just wondered why it kept coming back if it's really cradle cap. everytime i saw it, i apply olive oil diligently and it'll go away. then a few months later, it's back. tot cradle cap only affects newborns n younger bbs...

Areya,
thanks, am trying to moisturise and moisturise now. hope it helps.

Jasmin,
thanks for the recommendation. not sure if it's enzema for my boy since it doesn't seem to itch so wun try this yet.

thanks all!

re. pneumoccocal jab
read the recent discussion on this. jts, my boy only took 1 jab. pd mentioned it used to be 2 jabs after 1 year old. but singapore only made it compulsory to take 1 jab. so we decided to take only 1. he also had fever for 1 and a half days after the jab. actually, mummies, try to space out the vaccine jabs to be taken. i believe must take but space them out coz vaccines are still live/dead viruses and some may be too strong for our little ones' bodies. haha no medical background here, just my belief to share

re:pneumococcal jab
I also just took elixir for his jab 2 days ago...apart from being restless n tired, he was otherwise fine..no fever or other symptoms...so far for all his jabs, he never had fever...TOUCHWOOD!!! oh btw, polyclinic also mention tat after 1 yr old 1 jab only...think it varies agn...

nxt mth bringing him for chkpox n following mth for mmr...

think i'm too late for the enfagrow goodies le..haha joking la..really appreciate from my heart for all the things u mummies had given elixir so far...many many tks...

u r a chocolate lover?? kekeke

sung and pinkdemoness, thanks for ur post re pneumococcal jab..cos i tot only my boy took 1jab for this pneumococcal..now im not so worried anymore..

bb Jo took his pneumococcal jab on 23rd mar & will hav his chix pox jab on 24th april follow by mmr jab on 3 jun..the doc said must separate at least 1mth for each jab..

morning mummies

teddy
cos the side effect for both pneumoccocal and chicken pox will have fever so maybe that is why leh..
For me if 2 jabs have effect for fever i will not let him take 2 jabs together..but if one jab will have fever and the other will not have then i will take it together lor..
but Dr Lim also told u after 1yrs 2 jab??

sigh since now so many pple say 1 jab after 1 yrs old should have wait lor else so painfully for them to take so many jabs and so exp too
sad.gif

at least after 1yr old the jabs to be taken is lesser than those jabs below 1..somemore with the pneumoccocal 2 jabs extra given to my boi..

btw i am taking MMRV and for the rotavirus Dr Lim uses GSK's product so more or less the dosage my boi took might be effected too

sunshinebaby, thanks! yup i'm a chocolate lover!

re pneumoccocal jab: my boy started taking the jabs each time he did his 6-in-1 (3 boosters) . tomorrow will be going for his 4th jab. also took his rotavirus (2 doses). PD recommended to take all coz at that time he was about to start childcare so safer to take.

wanna ask mummies about your opinion re chicken pox jab. coz some people tell me better to let the virus run its course when the kid gets it rather than try to "suppress" the virus. will see what PD recommends tomorrow.

don
ya lor now singapore PD also stop giving then my PD say dun worry cos dozes of bb have been taking it
