same here, me too havnt started any preparation :p, am considering Cupcake Divinity & Pine Garden, still looking for the venue!

wondering if you celebrate bb's bday on the actual day or celebrate earlier? bb Jo's bday is on Wednesday (03Mar), so I will celebrate on 28Feb, is it too early?
 


Jo's mummy, i think usually ppl celebrate earlier. My boy's birthday falls on sunday, so will do it on sunday.
I'm headache on the venue also.. can't decide chalet, home or friend's function room
 
Hello Irene and Cindy (if you are reading this thread),

I will be ordering my cake from aunty yochana. but do you have any recommendations for the flavour of the cake? i actually asked for chocolate cos i have no idea which flavour is good. Any recommendation mummies?
 
chalet is not convenient for my guests who don hav vehicles leh..somemore chalet is not cheap..u need to headache on the food catering too..

home is more convenient but limited space unless its a small celebration..hassle of cleaning up the house after the party...

me so headache now too...only left with 1.5mths to get all the things done!

i've got the quote from cupcake divinity, their 2tier fondant cake is $150.00 exclude the delivery charges, while 1 tier is $65 for 7" and $100 for 10", personally i think their cake design is really nice as compared to Pine Garden but pine garden's cake is more delicious!

as for decorations, do we have to rent helium gas for the balloons or can just order it from somewhere and they will deliver it?

jo's mummy, my gal's birthday is 2nd March so i will be celebrating on 28 Feb too. I think it's ok to celebrate few days earlier.
 
yuki, ur gals bday is same as my birthday!!!

for the balloons usually they will inflated it for u and they can deliver to u with delivery charges..
 
jo's mummy, chalet is not cheap.. and I'm worry about those friends and relatives who do not have cars. I think end up they might not turn up also.

The fondant cakes are rather expensive. So i'm still thinking whether to get that or just get normal cakes.
 
teddybaby, last month my bb keep coughing & there is phelm. I bought him to Tiong Bahru Plaza PD. Not bad, Dr Wong very patient to examine him very detail even notice he got eczema. last month I used to bring him to TMC, same price but that Dr didn't really examine him, very fast.

y dun u try to suck out the mucus when he sleep. Is a tube that put into this nose, & u suck out. Don't worry u will not swallow it as the mucus flow straight to a small bottle. i found it very effective.
 
Hi Mummies,

Had a really scary experience in the wee hrs this morning. My bb had been having runny nose, cough and fever for the past few days.Brought him to see the PD yesterday. However, his fever suddenly spike up to 39 degree celsius in the wee hrs this morning and then suddenly he had a fit for few minutes. His body was totally frozen and no sound came out from his mouth. My hubby and I were so scared that we immediately rushed him to A&E. Luckily after the doc's examination, it was confirmed that the fit will not cause any permanent damage to the brain and it is common for kids below 6 yrs old. Lessons learnt from this episode.

1) Shld use tap water/warm water to sponge the bb with fever and not cold water. You can wet hair/wipe the neck/armpit/diaper area.
2) Shld bb has a fit due to fever, turn bb to side to ensure no choking. Observe for 5 mins to see if bb resume back to normal,
3) Paracetamol can be consumed at 4 hr interval with doc's advise.
4) If 2nd fit happens within 24 hrs of the first, must sent to KK A&E.

I agree that the fondant cakes are really expensive! I'm ordering a 10" one, single tier plus some small cone castles, it will cost $150. :| I was quite ambitious and wanted a 2 tier one, but after knowing the price..erm. single tier will do

Northvirgo, I will order the single tier bcos the 2 tier serving portion is for 40-50pax which is too much for me...therefore will opt for single tier..but $100 for a 1.5kg cake is real expensive!!
 
Meerkat, my bb also just recovered from running nose and cough after almost 2weeks..think this is seasonal flu as saw many mummies LO also have running nose and cough..but i can feel how frustrated and worried u r! lucky now he is ok..hug hug to ur bb!

My boy usually drink 120ml each feeding. But he can drink 150ml in the middle of night (maybe no distraction and sleep fed) Because he drink very little, so will try to feed him more in the middle of night. But my pd said he drink enough and not need to feed him in the middle of night. Baby also need sleep to grow too. I dun feed him in the middle of the night now unless he keep waking up a few times.
 
jo's mummy, I fully agree!! My mum was so shocked when i told her the price. Wanted to order from Pine garden as their lychee martini is so nice. but since my girls' bday falls on CNY, it will not be so good to collect the cream cake earlier and to keep it in the fridge.

Don't worry your bb will recover soon. My bb last month oso having high fever to 39 twice, coughing w phelm. I brought him to PD & was given (1) orange & pink mixture whereby orange only to be taken when he is 39, & some phelm & coughing mixture too. He kept scratching his throat as the phelm made him aching & uncomfortable. In order to clear his phelm, I put my finger into his mouth & tickle so that he will vomit the phelm out. Instead he vomitted a lot of phelm... very scarely. anyway I only do that 3X & his phelm is cleared faster than the medicine.
 
Northvirgo, Lychee Martini is my favourite but it contains liquor, so i think not suitable for ur kids unless u consult them if the liquor content is high..

ya, my husband also shocked when i show him the sample bday cake n price..still thinking do we need to spend so much on just a cake!

HI Mummies! Helping my sister to spread the news. There will be a Fun in the Sun Bazaar this weekend Jan 16 - 17, 2010 at East Coast Park Big Splash area. There will be over 70 stalls ranging from baby/ kid items to face painting. There will be new and preloved items for sale. The bazaar starts at 10 am on both days !

Have to be very quick when u do it. One arm hold her in a tight cradle with one of her arms around to your side and your hand holding down her other free arm, and crook of your elbow holding her head against your chest. That way no matter how much she struggles at least her head isn't moving so much. Then 2 ml syringe with 2 mls saline inject quickly 1 ml per side. There is bound to be spillage but somme wld have gone in. It takes me all of 5 seconds to do this so he struggles for only that time then I release him and hold him in a proper cradle to sayang him and praise him etc, or give him the bottle cos I tend to do it before the milk feeds. Digging out mucus causes a LOT of trauma to the nose and takes a lot longer to do so so it's a longer period of torture. Sucking out mucus with a tube works if the mmucus is near the front/middle of the nose but when it's all the way at the back (and drips down into the back of the mouth hence causing th gag) it's prwtty useless. Anyway see how u feel. For me I'd rather make him go thru 5 seconds of torture than have him keep vomitting and not getting his nutrition.
 
yuki, ya my bday is 1day earlier than my boy's bday, so its double celebration!! hehe..but we share 1 cake..anyway, this bday party is meant for him not for me..

i also have the price list from pine garden which i get from their shop, however, i cant find any designs unless need to go their shop to look at the catalogue..i tried to call their bakery shop at AMK but the staff is a chinese and they cant really understand english..was trying to ask if they hav fondant cake...

I just called PG, the lady that spoke to me was speaking in English leh... u might want to try again. U can tell them what u looking at and ask them to send u the designs via email.

i will be holding the party at my function room. Big enough for all my guests and won't have too much mess to clear up. I think hotel is a good idea.. convenient and nice

jo's mummy, sorry pine garden didnt give me the design list. Instead they asked me to send over the design that i want so that they can quote me the price. In fact they told me they do not have fondant cakes, only fresh cream ones.
 
yuki, ya my fren ever suggest to use condo's clubhouse for the party..so now u've settled on the venue & cakes..left me..

jo's mummy, remember that i ordered a bag from subaru? i have received it last week liao. think she submitted my order with her previous BP, that's y i received it earlier than the rest.
 
agnes/piggysg/areya - she wldnt lemme dig her nose even in her slp! she wil move. sigh. tried n failed. sucking with the apparatus also no use. ive tried cradling her but i think becos of late we keep doin it so she knws wads gonna happen so she faster cry n struggle liao -_-" but i think il try the saline thing. hee. wil go grab some 3ml syringes later at the pharm. thanks!!!

pine garden - their new flavour hazelnut crunch & baileys is damnnn delishhh! i lurve the baileysss!!! havent had the chance to try the caramel yet... *beo queenie & asura* lolx! if you can, do drop by the shop, buy the slices and try the flavours urselves... super yummy yum! but they only do fresh cream sponge.. they do not do fondant...

Northvirgo, glad that u hav received the bags...so how long have u waited? I submitted my order and make payment to my supplier on 30th Dec and i received the bags on 6th Jan..all my customer r very satisfied with the quality and its abt 95% similar to the picture. hopefully u will support me next time? hehe...

Hi Areya, I can't use the injection to feed him the medicine, he will struggle & crying. But instead we use spoon to feed him :p & he enjoy sipping it.

hmm... Pine garden did email me some cake designs leh... i didnt ask but they jus emailed me.. hee hee.. also, if u have a theme in mind, u cn ask them for some designs of the theme u have... they wld have some... the usual ones being winnie the pooh, mickeymouse, princess...

I bot the yoplait yogurt fr NTUC, as wanted to let b try yogurt. But it doesn't state suitable for babies - hv I bot the correct one?

Can we feed the yogurt cold to bb?
