(2009/03) March 2009 MTBs

Vicky,
Oh dear, possible to rope in relative to help out meantime? Must be really tough on u, unfortunately, I myself also no solution to making my boy sleep, can't offer any advice to u. Hang in there!

Mummies
Now that our babies are older, how do u make them nap? My boy keeps flipping in the yaolan lately and its impossible to sleep in it. Carrying him also don work, and given their wt, also hard to carry for long time. Tried latching or feeding him BM, he will become sleepy when drinking, but once he is done, he is wide awake again! Mummies, any tips or tricks to make them nap??

replied liao.

teddy,
not lively lah. It's just me talking to myself. hiak hiak

yah man that's the catch 22. So we might have to resort to renting a place to wait for property to cool down somewhat. But that would be a gamble of course as it might mean renting and thus paying cash for a long time to come. bummer.

seriously guys, don't you think that hdb prices have gone ridiculously high? How on earth are our kids going to afford a place of their own next time? I definitely prefer for my kids to move out once they come of age. :p

teddy, vicky, re making them nap. I am at my wit's end myself so can't advise. But I have recently managed to make her take short naps while still in her high chair. the chicco poly double phase can be reclined quite horizontally so what I did was bent over to latch her until she falls asleep. I know ... what a sight that must be *rolls eyes* whatever that can make her sleep man.

alfafa,

wahahaha.... bend over to latch her... gosh... wat a sight and it must be tiring for u!
Yeah... i agree with teddy, u are making the thread move!
happy.gif

Oh and doesn't your back hurts bending over to latch her?? Have u tried carrying her in the carrier and making her fall asleep in it at home?

alfafa.. ya went nuts buying deco. lesson learnt 1: stuff individually packed are more expensive. lesson learn 2: the back of trees do not need deco. haha

teddy.. unfortunately i have the same problems with my boy. every night i palm him off to hubby cos i "cannot take it" already. anyway hubby always accuse me of not carrying my boy when he is fussing (my pov is little boy needs to learn it's ok to sleep on his own but hubby dun agree). so i make hubby carry him instead. hur hur hur.

asura,
good good come come come. yes sometimes it good to have someone thick skinned enough to come in and talk to herself. Hahaha

asura, teddy, it does get a bit tiring but the good thing is that she really falls asleep very quickly in this way, like within 10mins. I only do this if I catch her showing signs of sleepiness.

oh yes if I carry her in the carrier she will surely sleep very fast but I prefer not to use the carrier at home. Don't want her to get used to sleeping only when we carry her. well .. not that what I am doing is much better. hahaha

teddy,
it's really scary. I was just jesting with my sister who lives in a condo that maybe she should buy a HDB anyway just for investment purpose. :p

going to do some house chores while I keep her belted up in her high chair with baby biscuits. see ya!

alfafa,
u r back !!!
hmm, my MIL is in town with 3 of my nieces/nephew. I am sending Moiiesha to nanny every morning and take care of my SIL's kids(send them to sports school in the morning to learn swimming and tennis/swimming pool in the afternoon). So, not sure if i can make it leh ... still trying to sneak out on thursday for Carters warehouse sales on thursday. Unless thursday i go warehouse sales then sneak to ur house.. haha. If next week, then any day i am ok.
Also, i dun have any ribbons, clips, fabrics.. coz i dun do sewing work. Anywhere that i can buy or i pay/share with u all ??

Gracie is so cute in her winter suit. Moiiesha can now stand unassisted and can walk 1-2 steps. Yesterday, she suddenly walks 5-6 steps fast and fell. All of us shocked and clap for her after that. Then she is so happy and clap clap her hand too. This is the only time we saw her walking so many steps at one go ..

Alfafa
Any reason why u want to sell your place? it so convenient and nice. I am looking to sell my plc next year too for obvious reason (too small for another baby). We are still looking at HDB, old 5 room point block around redhill, tiong bahru and Havelock area. I expect to pay a bomb given that these are all popular areas but being a town person all my life, I cannot see myself staying anywhere else further.

Sinmey
your girl can walk already...so fast. My boy now likes to climb over objects and try to hold on to anything that can help him stand. He sometimes will 'act smart' and let go of his hands too.

alfafa, ya 240 for 3 ft is quite ex. but we're most likely still getting it cause it's so cute with the snow all over. hw nice to have a fake snow tree in an empty new home on xmas.
happy.gif

And thanks for your address! I'll get the person to post to u. HEH! thanksss!

enjoy your cuppa with babe tmr oh!

and all the best to your baking for 1st yr bd celebration, i know you can do it. haha me? definitely oRdering!

Congrats to sinmey. Ur girl learn fast!

Just update on my girl. She only walk with assistance. She is lazy to crawl at times.

She can do the signal of clapping and wave her hands when said pai pai shou and byebye

Alfalfa,

good to see you back.. yep.. agree with you.. our thread once used to be very very active.. now.. its like dying down.. almost a ghost town

Many mommies had formed meaningful friendships and had taken communication offline..
happy.gif

Mommies..
Update: I am struggling with feeding Bree semi-solids..really stressed up lately

started her when sheis 6mths old.. for the two weeks, it was smooth sailing till she is about 6.5mths old.. she started rejecting solids.. I really don't know the reasons why..

currently.. she is 1 week away from 9mths old, still not eating well. all she wants is BM and her puff.. she has taken an interest in feeding herself with puffs that i given her to train her pincher movements.

i tried porridge.. fish and chicken.. even FM..she is not keen.. all the food that she used to love.. like cereal.. she is starting to reject them.. even the puree combinations.. she still loves pumpkin.. but i can't possibly feed her that everyday.. *sigh*

kinda desperate and hit the supermarket last night.. grab finger food that has fortified irons.. even thinking of eating a slab of steak every day to boost iron level in my BM and supplement her with it.

Kept trying to feed her FM through bottle as well.. she really cried murder.. *faint*

lenny:
hi i am a feb mom, i actually have no business being here
happy.gif
haha... my daughter used to reject food too. I know my method is not ideally correct but it solved my problem. Just to share...

During d time she rejected solid, I gave my daughter (gasp!!) sweet food!!
happy.gif
steamed apples, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, mango and such as puree base. they r sweet so she likes it. It's my bait for her to eat, but I added small mixture of other veges like cabbages, cauliflower, brocolli which contain iron (since it is also ur concern) + cereal... to fulfil all her nutrition needs..

Then slowly adjust the portion of sweet stuffs over bland veges & meat combo. Now she eat mostly veges n her food does not need to be sweet anymore... altho sometimes i still give her sweet stuffs as a treat...

If u have tried this and doesn't work, then i am sorry :D i do NOT come here often to peep on ur conv so actually "no head no tail" on ur prob hehehe
happy.gif
if u wanna know more, pm me... would b happy if could help...

paiseh paiseh to other mommies
happy.gif
suddenly come here and share my exp, please dun mind... shall let myself "out" hehe
bye mommies

Overload,

Hey! Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a good idea for the foods that my bb does not like to eat...Wonder if ur method would help to get rid of prune taste. She hates that!.. hee

alfafa,

yesterday's "down for maintenance" was really wrong timing! Had been more productive making the thread move than doing my work. LOL.

Too bad I dont have car now else I could come by your place to chit chat and see Grace. Humm... hb on leave this week. I would try to finish my work for the week and see if i could arrange something..

Breastfeeding mummies,

Any of u feeling a little itchy on the nipple after bb has latched. I have been feeling a bit itchy but dont dare to scratch.

Asura,
yah same here. Pity I cannot drive or I can go anywhere to meet you guys for lunch. :p

speaking of which. My new year resolution, if you can call it that, is to start driving for real. Hahaha need to find a refresher instructor first. And and and ... did I tell you that I no longer need to display the P plate??? But I plan to continue displaying that for as long as I can. LOLs

itchy around the nips? I think it's the weather. I do get it on and off. Don't think it is anything to worry about myself.

Overload! Thanks thanks for sharing! I was about hug lenny and cry together. Woe woe woe. My gracie is exactly the same. She finally only started eating some rice cereal again two days agoo. She has not been eating semi solids for quite a long time. Only BF and her teething biscuits ... no porridge, no cereal not baby jar food no nothing basically. I assume it is because of the teething. She has 4 tooth now, the 4th one is out halfway.

Btw, mommies. Just a reminder to try letting your babies drink with straws. When I was in the States my SIL teased baby by bringing a straw to her mouth and to our surprise Gracie sucked and drank like she always knew how. So these days I have been letting her drink water from a straw. This is the only way she is willing to drink water.

ok breakkie time

alfalfa..

i am currently tring chicken casserole puree, red lentil puree, (rubataga, butternut squash & peas puree), (potato, courgettte & peas Puree) on Bree..

Also tried Nestle brown rice cereal but i mixed to reduce the sweetness of the cereal. 1 tablespoon of Nestle to 2 tablespoon of earth's best brown rice cereal.

Now i just kept feeding her on scheduled meal times. if she doesn't eat breakfast, i try again during lunch, then tea break.. then dinner..

i made 4 trays of purees of baby cubes . i hope it doesn't go to waste like the previous times.

Mommies.

regarding bree not eating..

i brought her to see a PD to check on her progress.. worried sick cos of her not eating..

kinda relieved when he told me she is doing ok.. her weight is at the average for her current age. there are things that he suggested but i do not agree and i don't feel comfortable with

any mommies has good recommendations of PD from Gleneagles?.

It makes my claims process easier.. instead of filling a whole pages of forms.. Gleneagles can go direct..

Thankyou

Asura & Afalfa,

Re: Itchy around Nipples

apologies.. i cannot contribute on that.. haven't experienced it.. if you feel uncomforatble about it.. see a doctor ya?

alfalfa.

thinking of selling ur place... "sayang" le... its really nice.

i was hoping to stay in similar accomodation, don't think will have a chance in SG.. he he

hi,

i hv 1 tin 400g Nan 2 HA wanna exchange with similac follow-on containing Advance EyeQ Plus with Immunify ingredients..pls pm me if interested..tks !

re itchy or painful nipples.. do check if nipples look ok? cos my cousin had painful n itchy nipples n found a white ring at the base of her nipples. turns out to be fungal infection and had to stop BF-ing.

donroxx,

Thanks! My nipples look a bit red after bb latch. I dont see anything white. They are not itchy the whole day and definitely not painful at all. Just a short while after bb latch. Maybe I should clean her mouth before i latch her on. Nowadays she got a habit of pulling my nipple with her gums before she unlatch. Thank god no tooth yet!

whoppeee... the thread is moving nicely... lol!

dang.. really wld like to join ya'l for the hairclippy classy but am wrking... sigh... do have fun!!! the feeling of making ur own clippes for u lil ones is really very very satisfyin... esp when they wear it... hee hee!

SuperKirsten - no le... i think there are others who are also fast... see Moiiesha also ... wilber too! check out the vid wintertime posted in her FB... so cute la! lolx! actually, a lot of our babies are fast... charlene too... gracie... ugin... to name a few.. hee hee..

lenny - cld it be the speed that u feed her? kirs likes to eat super fast.. so have to offer her 1 spoon after another.. if too slow, she will get frustrated and refuse to eat... -_-" tsk tsk... so far only my mum and I cn feed her successfully... Hb and my dad cannot make it! lol! she doesnt finish when they feed her.. sigh... and she likes big spoons.. doesnt like small little feeds -_-" greedy pig in process.. ha ha ha! u cn always feed pumpkin every other day... or mix with other fruits like apples...

overload - welcome welcome.. hee... we welcome everyone... =P ha ha...

Screaming - any of ur babies screaming their bleeding heads off ? kirs has developed this really bad thing past 2wks or so and is becoming worse!!! she screams in loud sharp pitches... especially at night... -_-" tell her shush she will continue... diao... smack her mouth she also continue... weird kid... lol! dunno where she learned it from.. i dont scream in bed leh... =X HA HA HA HA HA!

lenny dear,
you are good. So persistent. I gave up trying to cook porridge and am now relying on baby teething rusks and biscuits. Thank goodness she started taking rice cereals again since two days ago. I'm feeding her the usual nestle ones. Not a fan of organics or brown rice. The latter gave her constipation before so I''m not keen to try it again. heeee

might try cooking porridge again tomorrow but chunkier ones i.e. can see the grains. think she might be rejecting all our previous attempts cos it was too mushy.

lenny, scrumpee,
want to sell because the price is too tempting. yah i love my house too. never will i be able to afford a place like this with the yards and all once i sell this. in fact, i'm not sure if i can still continue staying in queenstown. even the flats are highly priced. i love queenstown! love the low density factor. don't like to jostle my way around busy and noisy estates.

scrumpee, sounds like I would be looking for a place in the same areas as you. I too prefer town areas. hehe actually my mom stays in toa payoh, but i moved out upon getting my first job and have mainly stayed in rental apts in low density areas like braddell and bugis, upper bukit timah... so i'm used to the quieter places.

prosper,
good to see you. wow K can walk with assistance? that's great. I have not tried teaching gracie to walk yet. shall just let nature takes its course. hey you've decided to give up the kebaya for good?

ah yes hair ribbons, accessories, there is a BP ongoing... she stays jurong.. not sure if she will accept meeting up... do PM her to check... Especial... check out BP section
happy.gif

missycandy,
cannot bear to let go. :p shall keep it for as long as I have space available, much to my hubby's dismay. lols. you are now into sewing too? cool! It's infectious, these crafty things. what are you planning on making?

I was told by a feb mom that the BP is cheap no doubt, but the spree is way way cheaper. So I guess if you can wait, join the sprees.

btw, I just realised that "bending over" to latch her to sleep while she in her high chair didn't sound right. No wonder you girls are worried about my back. To be more exact, when I see that she is sleepy I will simply pull up a chair next to her high chair, lower her to my chest level, and then lean my torso close to her so that I can latch her comfortably. It's not as bad as it initially sounded eh? ;)

I just did it again and she is now napping in her high chair. ho ho ho

probably just for a short while but better than nothing.

Asura,
Charlene has no tooth yet? Lucky you! Mine has 4 and it really hurts! and the worse thing is that she just doesn't get it when I scold her. I fear for my nips everytime
sad.gif

Missy,
yah boy. it is super satisfying. that's why I;m hopinh yo bake her her first birthday cake too. Never mind that it will look inferior in appearance to the fancy ones other babies have. It will be filled with love which is priceless. Lols. Hopefully it doesn;t look too disasterous. Anyway, I managed to borrow a set of pooh bear and friends cake toppers so it shouldn;t look too plain.

re screaming
yah gracie screams in a diff way now too. She has always been a screamer (eh, I also don't scream in bed leh missy. Not like this lah HAhahahahHAHA) but this time it is diff. She is definitely training her vocal cords. :p

Asura & alfalfa

Bree had the same thing too.. initially she bites then i let out a loud "ouch" and i told her its painful and don't hurt me.. after a few times. she stop doing it with her teeth.. (only got 2 inscisors emerging from her lower jaw so far)

Now her uses her fingers! her thumb and index finger.. after she unlatch.. she will start pinching and tweaking my nipples if i dozes off after feeding and start chuckling. sometimes.. i will close my eyes and pretend to sleep.. wah.. she happily keeps doing it *faint*

Hello mummies ...

Hmmm seem like the thread is now moving once again ... have been popping in once in a while to look see look see if got any gathering or party or not heehee

Alfafa ...

The price at my place has gone up ALOT too ... almost 60% if I were to sell it BUT BUT I know that I will never get another similar place ever again ... so thats why I am telling myself to hold and not make any hasty decision which I may regret next time

Nice if you can make Gracie's 1st bday cake ... I am very sure that it would turn out well

Missycandy ...

Your BB K is super bb lar ... from prosper's photo - can see that she is standing v well. SH is still trying v hard hahahaha

Re: Screaming...

actually high pitch noises triggers me.. Bree was once screaming a lot for the things that she wants or when she gets upset.. her screams will follow after she started crying... whenever she does screams during her cries, ( i don't know if what i did was right), i used two fingers.. my index finger and my middle finger.. to "slap" her on her the side of her knee cap and tell her firmly to stop screaming....

after a few rounds.. she is kinda stopped even though sometimes.. she needs to be reminded.. i am ok with crying no matter how loud she gets but not high pitched screaming unless she is distressed or in pain etc..

Missy..

I am not sure if i can speed feed her.. i will normally feed her the first bb spoon for her to try the taste..

she will take her own sweet time to swallow.. after that.. she kinda refused to open her mouth.. we need to entertain and make her laugh, hoping for her to open her mouth and feed her another spoon..

really envy those mommies whose bb are enjoying food.. i am actually very excited about cooking.. reading up on recipes for bb and slaving in the kitchen hoping that Bree will like the food..

haiz.. nowadays.. even for her fav pumpkin.. she will only take 2.5 tablespoon max and call it quits... then keep stuffing herself silly with puffs

hi mummies, just poped in to share that the gmarket has offer for pampers active baby. HEhe. quite a goody deal. my next favourite other than GooN.

alfalfa, missy & mommies who are keen on crafts..

hehe.. wah u mommies are really good.. have very nimble fingers. i have hands and fingers like a man.. never good at such crafts.. only cross-stiching. keke.

i only know i hve advantage during Tae Kwon-do class during younger days... cos cos my hands are fleshy and good for punching and breaking tiles.. Now grown old.. might break a few bones if i do that. muahahahahaha...

Lenny,

Guess you might just want to accept the fact that she is a 'fussy eater' and not be too stressed about it. My fren's gal is oso the same thing ... everything oso dun wan to eat so rely alot of milk from the start.

If she is enjoying puff, maybe she prefers her food to be more chunky and solid?

SH was oso v fussy at first and we had a hard time teaching him how to eat ... now he is better but he seem more interested in my food then his own. So we v bad ... we place him on the highchair and feed him while we are eating and sometimes we pinch fish/bread for him to eat and that makes him happy cos he thinks that he is eating with us and eating our food *faintz*

Also if he is not hungry enough ... he is oso a terror to feed ... so you might wan to re-look at the timing that you feed Bree.

Lastly, overload's idea might just work. Cos it is just to start the bb interest in eating and after that slowly expose them to more variety overtime.

But then again ... dun make yourself so stress k ... you are already trying your best!! Our mood oso affects them ... maybe we are so stress and they think that we are feeding them posion hahahaha

so happy to see the thread ,oving somewhat

hey lenny, seabreeze, anyone

i'm meeting babe at tanglin mall at 2pm for coffee. not sure if inya is coming too. anyone wants to join? lost all your hp nos, so pls sms me and identify yourself if you want to joinm.

alfalfa..

today? a bit last minute.. i do have to drop by taka to collect Bree's christmas tree before thursday and thinking of bringing her to see the christmas lightings.. but will be in one of the evenings though.. Bree's daddy will be away during christmas, am trying to bring her out so she does not miss out.. my mom is coming along as well. heheh

Thursday.. i am going for carter's warehouse sale with a gf.. my ex boss in town this week and we are trying to catch up with a few other ex-colleagues. kinda packed for this week.

how's next week? anyone?

oh yah huh. been a really long time since she swam. Forgot where you stay. Is it in the HV area? Yah let's fix a date. How about Mon or Tue? Earlier in the week is better as any closer I would be busy preparing for christmas.

YYEAH! She took the rice cereal again. 3rd day in a row. Thank goodness. Btw I add very very little water these days so it is a really thick gruel. Wonder if that is why she doesn't mind it. Another thing I do is I let her take some water from a straw in between every few spoons of gruel. Seems to help.

lenny - oh yes. luckily alfafa mentioned it. cld be consistency as well. Kirs dislikes watery cereal and porridge. has to be thick n sticky -_-" weird baby. lol. hmmm ive tried telling her off when she screams but after awhile she will continue... sigh... the sound effect is damn powerful especially when we r in the room -_-" literally ear piercing!

seabreeze - hee hee. thanks!

alfafa - im nt sure yet. lol. prolly looking at bows or something... still havent gotten my sewing machine yet... Hb nt very supportive of the sewing machine becos he feels my interests are short lived... HA HA HA HA HA! but i do feel it wld be good to have one at home... can always sew own pouches... bags... one fine day i wana make dresses for her... (so adventurous!!) ha ha ha! must find time!

alfalfa..

I stay jurong.. heheh.. just opposite lakeside MRT station..

i am fine with mon or tuesday...

PAGING for FATFISH and PRINCESS IN DREAMLAND..
