areya - looks cute... but looks like a toy set for disaster in the kitchen as well... thats when the baby realizes cn fling it ard and the fork n spoon wun fly? hahaha! looks like a catapult sorta toy to me =P

Yah I did wonder about that. On one hand seems like a good idea, but then like u said bb's can treat it like a toy and fling it around and turn it into a catapault. Guess shall wait and see how his temperament develops before deciding to get it.

e eating ware for bb has a pullable coil fpr fprk n spoon...a bit dangerous if bbz hands or neck get ard it...u never noe how ingenuous our little ones can b when they have a new 'toy' w them...

Hi for those keen on the 6mth bash . was actually surfing... and thought maybe we might want to hold it at Gymboree? at the same time can let the babies have 1 lesson... i need to knw if you all are keen b4 i wil go ahead to coordinate with gymboree.. price wise im nt too sure... but hopefully its nt a huge amt... =P

I like the idea. Heard from some mommies that there are free trial classes available at lotsa places too. Maybe worth checking those out. I have not checked out any myself. sorry.

miss83: the cereal is stated on the tin for 6mths n above..but i may let my boy taste when he is 4 mths..the promoter said it was ok...alternatively, i may just let him try only when he's 6 mths...cos scared he may nt want milk after trying cereals...

If u wanna give ur boy before 6 mths, u got to monitor whether he is ready or not first. Think some time back, there were a lot of posts on the signs of readiness to wean. Else it is more advisable to wait till 6 mths old. Me only introducing when BM cannot satisfy my baby, currently my bb only showing great interest in what we put in our mouths and starting to imitate our lip actions during eating.
 
Okie found out more abt the Gymboree

1. If we wish to hold a "party" they cn hold up to max 50pax(babies &amp; parents) so in order to make it nt so squeezy. Best wld be 20babies &amp; 20mummies or daddies.

There will be 2 teachers.

1hr of play/gym time &amp; 30mins of snack time(have to bring our own food . they wil however set up tables n chairs if we need)

$370 for 10pax(bb&amp;mum) other which every additional pair is $15 each. If we book 20 means total is $370 + $150 = $520 = each bb&amp;mum pays $26.

2. If we which to sign up for Trial classes, the trial is $40. If we sign up membership, you pay $50/year and u get Free Trial. Being a member, you get to play at their gym for $12 instead of $20/session or hr im nt too sure =P. Being a member also means you get discounts off the stuff they sell (I do not knw what they sell). They also have many branches all over the world. Being a member means you can use the gym in the other countries too. =)

They only have 2 branches. Tanglin Mall &amp; Harbourfront.

My view - wld be nice to have a lil gathering for the trial class and probably have ard 10 ppl. See who is keen. Maybe can organise something. =)

starting solids - pink do reconsider 1st. initially im also quite keen to start early. (DANG forgot to ask PD jus nw *smacks forehead* grrrr) But i think in order to prevent my child frm having gut problems in future, i will try to refrain 1st... =) of cos there is no guarantee my kid will or will not have gut issues la.. but if i knw that it might trigger off something, i wld refrain 1st bah...

alfafa - the trial class is basically for us as parents to knw what happens during the class.. if im nt wrong, diff age has diff stuff to teach &amp; learn... its basically helping the baby to develop and learn psychomotor skills... the lady on the phone mentioned Play &amp; learn 2. so i think its this -

Gymboree Play &amp; Learn 2 6-10 months

Learn about cause and effect and build strength through play with ramps, slides and climbers. Includes parent discussion time to help learn about your child's development.

the diff is after the trial class, every class that u go for u wld jus have to pay $12 if im nt wrong.

the thing is they dont have a local website and the US website quite limited on info. If wan to knw more, can either call them or go dwn to their centres. I think goin down to understand more wld be better. can see the place also. I saw the one @ Harbourfront the other day. It's jus like a big spc all covered with sponge like mattresses... with tunnels, slides, etc for the baby to learn n play! hehhe...

Solids - For #1, I was very excited to start so I started at 4MO. On hindsight he was probably not really ready as he was still pushing out his tongue. THis time, I plan to start at 5MO. Hoping to take one week maternity leave to start her on solids myself

Mummies who wanna start solids may wanna ask your PD for samples otherwise if BB rejects will be wasted. I wasted one tin of EYS brown rice when I started #1 on solids.

Me onz.. am fine with either option. but hor.. i think they put 6 mth for a good reason such as can crawl, sit up on own, etc, so u might want to make sure that all the babies that are going have hit the 6 mth mark means that we might need to hold it after sep.. think pumpkinseed mentioned that she is away in sep, any specific timeframe for her? Maybe if trial class, we have it in Sep/Oct, then the 6 mth bash in end aug? Just a suggestion..

for the 6mth bash. wil probably hold it in August becos some of the babies here are born feb. I did ask the lady ovr the phone abt the age. If 5mths+ also okie to attend the 6mth class. no problem. will probably have it end august. dates i proposed earlier were 15th or 22nd.. but i think since some might be worried too early for bb... probably will have it on 29th August then. if not then 5th sept? Pumpkin will be away for 2-3wks ah? hmmm... the sch hols are 5th to 13th. of sept.

actually for the trial class, they also have 0-6mths de... hurhur. so if wan earlier we cn always have the Play &amp; Learn 1. =) But i think for trial class wld be best to jus have 10pax.
