(2009/03) March 2009 MTBs

thanks for all mummies replies on the night feed, convinced hubby that FM may not mean he'll sleep longer so now he's happy to let me continue giving him EBM...so i figured i'll give him 125 instead of 110 for last feed...hope it'll help...

Oh yeah, Fisher Price sale at Raffles City, the Push Walker is a good buy, normally $80 now $40.

Babysigns have replied they can organise a workshop for us but i'm asking them some more stuff so will wait for their response first before posting.

Oh yeah, my nursing cover from pretty maris arrived, hehee so happy w it, super pretty :p

girls, talking about more babies... I almost fainted yesterday night. Grandma in France bought a bath tub and cot for Baby A, saying it's an investment as she is expecting more grand children from us. Hello... I wasn't even planning this one.

Lenny, yeah your hubs looks like the nice and filial sort. Which unfortunately also normally means the one that parents take the most advantage of. Sigh.

Starflower, yeah I don't mind having a baby signs workshop. SAHM need activities haha

Lenny, I may go to the Motherhood Fair. Can we share cab there?

missycandy. WOW! It must be so fun to see that. Baby A can only turn halfway. Then she's stuck haha

Pumpkin
Mamie surely dots on Baby A, ya?
Oli is using a cot that belong to his cousin who is 20 years old now (luckily it's repainted by cousin's daddy so looks brand new now) and also using the bath tub and cot sheets which were last used by Oli's daddy more that 30 yrs ago... hahaha

jtho, ca va toi et Oli? How is it making FM with mineral water? Thanks for updating on how you managed during the flight. Did you take the stroller all the way up to the gate?
Mais oui, Mamie est tres impatient de voir la petite. Especially now that she has started squealing. Like a little piggy, so adorable.

misscandy
ur baby can flip already.. So fast... Must be very cute...

pinkdemoness
I already started on yaolan too... But she is ok to sleep on her bed at night.. I put her on yao lan only if the weather is very hot during the day time...

miss83
I already using pacific.. I actually dun wanna give her... Caused by my MIL lah... Said baby will not sleep without it... But I tried to not let her have the pacifier when she is not around...

Starflower
U got ur nursing cover from the BP one? I looking for one too... Have not bought any yet...

oh yes, i almost finished reading Tracy Hogg's Baby Whisperer... but amazingly, Oli is automatically on EASY by himself. so now it is quite easy for me to guess what he wants when he cries (but sometimes still make wrong guess lah... hahaha) normally he cries after a whole afternoon outing to friends'/relatives' place, means he is overtired. hubby will always argue with me that he's hungry. but everytime when hubby gives the bottle to Oli, he will still continue to cry until i take over, cuddle him, then put him to bed and he'll stop crying
happy.gif
after sleeping for about an hour, then he will wake up to ask for milk... now hubby also convince with the EASY method. i also set a bedtime routine, that is to wipe his face and hands, then change him into his pyjamas... he will normally smile after changing into his pyjamas

pumpkin
oui, ca va... et toi?
regarding mixing FM with mineral water, i checked websites and the doctor here. in France, there's a couple of brands of mineral water that we can use for babies' milk... u can use Evian, Volvic, Vittel... i'm now using Crystalline... but make sure u look at the label cos it will state whether it is suitable for baby. Crystalline has 2 sources, only 1 can be used. the safest of course is to use Evian
happy.gif
also, the doctor said no need to boil the water even though the websites recommend to boil. i do boil some to put in the vacuum flask cos i prefer to give luke warm milk to Oli.

i didn't bring the stroller from SG cos my SIL bought a stroller cum car seat for Oli here... i only brought along my Pikkolo carrier

jtho - hellooo!!! do enjoy urself!!! Ahh.. i think girls tend to be faster than boys yes? i knw of someone's boy who hasnt flipped til he hit 5mths plus.. so no worries...

hmmm we put Kirsten on her tummy quite early on.. actually i wasnt for it becos i was afraid she wld suffocate herself... but my parents did it anyway... and we only put her on tummy during day time... never at night... she does however seem to sleep better on her tummy.. doesnt get "shocked" as much as when on her back ba... i guess that plays a part.. plus her neck is really strong... she certainly looks like a little "Gu"(ox) to me.. LOL... especially when i carry her to sit facing me.. she will make a scrunched up face and do the cow like action(head going down and up) its really hilarious! hahahaha!

training baby to flip - i think cn ask PD? i read somewhere someone said PD advised them how to help baby/teach baby to flip... but i cnt recall where...

pumpkinseed - previously Kirsten also stuck halfway... i think will be soon that Baby A can flip all the way... =)

kome - have collected but havent open.. heh heh heh... a bit early for me to open yes? also early for me to buy. im so kiasu. lol. but anyway i bought it with HB approval.. so its okie.. heh heh heh...

cindy - how? i very tempted leh... =( i dun dare ask HB.. im thinking if i shld make one myself.. hurhurhur... but nt sure what i shld put inside.. scared the cotton will come out... the fine hairs... maybe il drop by spotlight... hmmmm...

sunshine - ya i gave birth quite early ma... hehehe... dun worry... bryan will catch up soon! hows everything? havent really seen u postin much ever since u gave birth... =P

devil - yes its really cute! hurhurhur!

missycandy
yes, i also heard that development of girls tend to be faster than boys...
we actually put Oli on tummy also quite early, also for the sake of letting h sleep better.
no la... if i want to ask PD, will wait till i go back to SG... over here, consultation fees very ex
sad.gif
and i try not to be so KS lah, dun want to force Oli to do anything fast, let him develop at his own pace... my son is probably going to be the slowest baby in everything... hahaha

Jtho,

No worries lah.. i also a great believer in letting things be at bb's pace. But tummy time is supposed to be good. What i know is to lie ur bb flat on the back and then turn him on his tummy.

missycandy,

Ur bb is really very fast. My friend's bb gal here only flipped ard 19 weeks old. In fact i think the books says to expect bb to flip only by the end of 3rd mth or 4th mth. My bb so far only able to turn from back down to halfway.
This morning, i think she was trying to turn from tummy to back, i misread and tot she wanna milk... lol...

mangogal,

Yah.. i think better to ask ur aunt cos the prices in Canada really differ greatly from those in US though they are neighbours. U might wanna ask her whether the orajel is cheper there cos ur bb is probably going to teeth by the time her grandma comes.

Haiz.. dunno why lately when my bb latch it is painful, i checked the position and latching is all correct. Feels like got teeth biting like that.. i really hope she is not going to teeth soon.. read that normally is by end of 4th or 5th mth before the first tooth appears. With the bfing, i am dreading it... heh.

Queenie.. so cute.... shucks... i just ordered from littlestylos... i love the quotes from this new bp...

Ida, the wipes are cheap... but dunno good anot.. scare order le not nice to use

Queenie, I got the tshirts from that bp. Very nice. Can buy.

Missy, can can can make. I got a friend who made Hehe but I not so skilled lo.. Heh.

Since: me using my phone not, so cannot find the link for u, u just go to the bpa section n search for toy rattles. Its by itsy itsy. Pm me if still can't find, I will search for u later. Heh.

Ida, you know how much the beco is selling at the BP?
I just saw the instructions for use, seems like it's easier to put a baby in a Beco then the rest of the carriers.

Irene,
To me, it's quite easy to put baby into the Beco. As long as the carrier is clipped properly on you, you can put the baby in. I tried putting baby in when I was sitting down & I did it!!! =P

Missycandy
Wow, Kirsten can flipped already?? That's really fast. Think i need to put Ryan on his tummy more often!!!

Asura,
Dun worry abt the teeth during breastfeeding..I breastfed #1 until 18 months old...it's not as bad as you think. =)

Cindy

I am using beco too, really quite good.

Grace
Wahaha.....i more hack care. I stand and put Anver into the carrier all the times.

Btw, any mummimes can help me to post at the WTS section? I really need to get rid of all my wide neck milk bottles. So wasted if i just keep it inside my cupboard. They are all quite new lor.
sad.gif

Grace,

No need to worry? How do u stop ur #1 from biting? My bb havent got teeth already i find it a bit pain liao...
sad.gif

Kome,
I thought sitting down is more difficult to put him in...heee~~~ But generally i think he likes the carrier bcos whenever he is inside, he'll be sleeping.... =P

Asura,
Hmm....babies are clever....maybe unless they are playful then they will bite. #1 didn't really bite me hard (well not that I can recall). So dun worry at this point in time. Maybe when they bite, just remove them from the breast then latch them on again... =)

Thanks Kome.
I found it too

Cindy,
is the Lamp toy rattle comes with the sounds ?
Will the sound disturb the bb when they sleep ?
I have a rattle toy currently but its sound always awake my bb when she move in her sleep.
How's the quality of the fabric ? Hope it last for frequent washing. Her rattle toy is always wet & i wash it every alternate day.

Queenie,

Re: your question about mixing breast milk.

we can mix breast milk that are expressed within 24 hrs. means if we pump 3 times within 24 hrs, then these 3 amount of breast milk can be mixed together and stored or freezed.

i.e. on 3rd June
1st pump - 8.00am
2nd pump - 12.00pm
3rd pump - 7.00am (4th June 2009)

all these 3 amount can be mixed together and stored cos its within 24hrs

if we do not freeze, we need to discard after 48 hrs from the time we pump.

i.e i.e. on 3rd June
1st pump - 8.00am (discard if not used after 5th June at 8.00am)
2nd pump - 12.00pm (discard if not used after 5th June at 12.00pm)
3rd pump - 7.00am (4th June 2009)(discard if not used after 6th June at 7.00am)

if the amount has been mixed together, stored in fridge but not utilised, then u have to discard based on the time of earliest pump.. in this example, will be after 8.00am on 5th June.

i hope i explained it well to you

Grace
Think siting down position is more safer than standing up to put baby. My son loves to be inside too especially if you walk aound. :p Luckily i got this carrier if not my hand will be very pain for carrying him so long.

morning mummies

nice day to sleep!

aiyo i'm realli tempted to buy beco too after i saw the bp...my frens gotten me a combi and after trying to figure out how to use the other day, hb and i realised thats its pretty big for our bb at present, and not too user friendly too.....beco prints are so pretty....i want! haiz but hb sure say me one if buy...cos got two carriers (inclusive of the combi) during our bb's first month...if not i tink i won't hesitate to get beco le....

so tempted to get the toy rattle too =P but its kinda a bit pricey to me for a toy rattle...

aiyo tempted tempted! hehe

"I would like to inform you the spree is cancelled. Any other questions please email me directly." ~ As quoted by the spree organiser

kome - i hate the feeling! want to buy yet resisting not to buy! haha...

Kome Haha thank you! Muacks!

Sinmey. Nope, its not so loud as to have noise when u move. I also put it beside her when she sleeps and so far, no sound when she kicks or moves le.... It is not a bell sound but the normal rattle sound. Haha, I don't know how to describe. But u must shake it before sounds come. HehE the material is very good but I have not thought of washing it ley Hmm.... Maybe I can ask if it is washable Hehe. Its really very very cute. I love it myself.

Mummies,

What time do you usually make bb's bedtime? At the moment we start the bedtime routine between 8-8.30, occasionally at 7.30, depending on how tired he is. THing is he is starting to stretch his sleep time to 7-8 hour (8 hr stretch has happened twice so far), and hb thinks it makes more sense to make his bedtime later - to ard 9-10 so that we - specifically me - can also get a longer stretch of sleep ourselves if and when he eventually gets to sleep 8 hrs as a normal pattern. It makes sense however I have reservations about him having a nap in the evening and THEN waking up only to have a bedtime routine. Then there is the whole trouble yo retrain them to have earlier bedtime when bb is a bit older (toddler age). What do u all think?

Cindy,
okok ... must wash it frequent la .. her rattle toy always 'wet' .. i touch also feel 'geli'
Actually the rattle toy is expensive so i expect the good material lor

Mangogal,
You bought the new Pigeon Fridge to go how much? Ah ya, I have a brand new one for sale leh....super low ms so no chance to use it.
You need to freeze the ice panels included inside and place it in the bag before you put your milk stoarge on and off you can go :>

Missycandy,
You sned me the mask yet? Just wondering :>

Re:Gathering,
Can I confirm by tomorrow?

Queenie,
Will make arrangements with you then :>

Sinmey, yes the quality is really good. I really like it. Very pricey so I also pondered for a while before I decided to just go for it. Haha. I also posted a msg see if it is machine washable. We wait for her reply.

Starflower:
Thks! Btw, the fisherprice sale at Raffles City...u referring to Robinson isit?

Miss83:
My boy also keeps eating his whole fist..until saliva all over his face and hands. My mum asks me to give him pacifer, but I reluctant to do so, worry he will become addicted.

kome - yalor email ppl never reply v sian one

areya - my boi can start his bedtime routine as early from 9am+ till the next day at 5am+ where he wakes up for his milk....yesterday he slept at 11am+ and woke up at 8am+ this morning...somehow i want him to sleep later like 10am+ so he can wake up at least 6am+ the next day (do not need to have night feeds)...but then i oso suffer lor...next day end up with blocked ducts cos i slept the whole night thru without latching him on..

speaking of blocked ducts i tried to use pump but realised there are a few milk holes getting stuck on the nipple...pump doesn't help yea?

cindy - my hb sure eyes big big and shake head if i buy the rattle toy...hehe...v tempted to get it though....

missycandy,

Me only back in early Aug.. hopefully by then the whole H1N1 has died down or they really confirm that it is milder than seasonal flu.
Me more worried for my hb cos he only coming back in Oct. According to the WHO, now is mild and hardly would pose risk but they not sure whether virus would mutant and be worse in winter...
sad.gif
Oct is close to winter liao

areya,

I used to put my bb tosleep at 7 pm in SG. Since i am here, i put her to sleep between 10 to 11 instead. Reason: (1) i get more sleep since first interval is long (so far only 5.5 hrs max), (2) bb dont get so cranky when we go out late on weekends, (3) when my hb get back from work, he is still able to play a bit with bb before bb go sleep else he very cham, come home bb sleeping, go work also bb sleeping..

When i get back to sg, i shall put her to sleep at 930 instead.
