TCM said can't wash hair for 12 days only? My mum told me 1 mth and last time i had been using the dry shampoo which hb brought from chinese medical hall and i use it for whole mth.

Sorry to interrupt but I have some Spring maternity clothes selling cheap at http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/messages/449183/1736693.html?1222909374

Kome/Sung,

Actually the modern TCM says it is alright to shower and wash hair especially in our weather. What we must do after showering and washing hair dry is to towel dry properly and blow dry with warm air. Avoid sensitive areas. I think not washing hair would contribute to oilier scalp and greater hair loss later on.

Asura
My mum told me not to wash hair is because might get headache easily next time, so actually not too sure also.

missycandy: mine is not painful ones...just like the feeling of over stretching n crampy...my backache due to slip disc...so i guess not uti ba...

re:wash hair - older generations will tell us cant wash hair due to feng1 han2... as we are supposed to expel wind n water from our body n keep it warm during confinement, we r not to get in touch with water...but weather now so hot plus spore humid, abit difficult...maybe alternate days with chinese herbs??think quite common now to bathe during confinement...those with confinement nanny will prep herbs for mummies to bathe...

Kome,
the TCM i visited said only first 12 days die die cannot touch water, after that if need to can bathe/shampoo with the herbal bath. hee he also acknowledges that not to bathe/wash our hair in singapore is killing. but mentioned that to touch water in first 12 days will cause "tou feng" - head wind which will pose problems for the mummies later on.

uncle helped my back problem quite a bit so i trust him and will try to follow his advise as far as possible lor.

oh yeah, like Asura79 said, main thing is also to ensure proper drying.

Kome,

A sinseh told me headache/reumatism comes because we never properly dry our hair and body. That's why she suggested to blow dry body as well.. use air-dryer.. Must make sure every part dry dry after washing. Sounds troublesome but compared to oilier scalp and hair loss.. i would rather bath and wash hair.. else may kena post natal blues...

Sung & Asura
Okok, than i can wash my hair this time but don't think will wash it everyday. Maybe 2 days wash once to reduce the chances of having tou feng also.

For bathing wise, i know can use 大丰草 ( not sure is it correct but sound is the same) to bath during our confinement. Must soak in hot water to bath.

Kome,

Wanna check on the herbs part. How does it work? Boil water and put into a pail and use the water from there to shower? Means need a lot of pails? Any idea what we should get ready if we wanna bath using herbs water?

Asura
Actually you do not need to prepare anything. Just a big clean pail.

Last time my mum put 1 pkt of the herbs into a big red pail. She boil hot water and pour into the pail with the herds. As it is very hot, i secretly add some cold water into the pail and bath. :p As we cannot bath for too long, my mum just gave me a pail of water to wipe actually rather than bathing. If you want you may just put another pkt of the herbs and have another pail of water to bath. The herbs cost quite cheap. They are sold in 1 big pkts with 10 small pkts in each big one.

Kome,

Thanks for the info. I think i would need 2 pails... hahahah... Think that month is water-conservation month for us! How abt aircon? I heard that we cannnot have direct wind blowing so fan is out.. but aircon is ok..

Gingal, my complexion is not getting any better also, swollen reddish nose also. Hopefully it will gets better after birth.

My mom bought some birdnest from FU Hua yesterday for me, so touched.. FIL win 4D, you know what he bought? Milo and a few cans of concentrate milk. DUhz.. as if I no money to buy tat on my own.

Sleeping position: I turn around, cos cannot stay at one position for too long. Normally sleeping on my sides.

Asura
I heard air con is a no no. Fan don't blow directly to you blow at the side instead shld be still ok. Must wear long sleeves shirt and pant.

Irene
At least you still gt milo and concentrated milk. I don't even have a fresh milk or anything from them yet.

Re: Neurogain S
I checked out KKH Pharmacy and currently, it's out of stock.
sad.gif
Price is $40+ per pc. So more $$ than Neurogain BP.

Haven't had a chance to check out the clinics. Seems like not many suitable DHA supplements out there for preggies.

babe,

Did they say when the stock would come in? My colleague's gynae is selling her at $45 per bottle. SO i think if few dollars cheaper per bottle is better than nothing. Hopefully, Ivy gets back to us with good deals on Neurogain S and DHAxtra.

Miss83, the book cost about $30. This book even lets you to collect newspaper cuttings for the day your BB is born, so that next time your bb will know what had happen in the rest of the world while he is born... so cute..

For the power shampoo, I saw it at guardian pharmacy before quite sometime back.. not sure if it still available now... So you can still check it out there..

Asura
Sorry, the lady I spoke to doesn't know when the stock will come in. She's also not sure about the price. She only said they currently hold the Neurogain BP stock.

Hi pinkdemoness,

RE: Robinsons Sales at Expo
I can't remember exact price now. Nowaday very forgetful. There is one white babycot, selling $299 (U.P. ~$500+) but cannot convert to bed. And there are 3 playpens; square one selling ~$80+ but cannot adjust height, green one selling ~$150+, and pink one selling ~$100+ (UP: $160+).

Hi missycandy,

I'm in 2nd trimester now, so it is time to do shopping
happy.gif
There is quite a lot of things to get - for myself, baby, baby's room, etc. 3rd trimester better don't get too tired. My friend suspect she walk too much and therefore delivered early by 1mth and her newborn had to stay in hospital for ~3weeks. So, she advised me not to walk too much during last trimester.

Hi mtbs,

Here is a update from my last gynae checkup. Baby was very cooperative that day, opened her legs big big and so confirm its a princess. Very happy to have a girl. Kome can you help me update thanks.

I went to the Tangs sales yesterday and I bought the avent sterilizer at $150.

Sportyger
Congrats. Btw how many weeks are you now? Spread some bb gal dust to me. I hope to have a gal and my check up is today evening. Hope can see the gender already.

Updated BB gender for Sportyger

Thanks Kome! Yes, I was hoping for girl, as I already have a boy boy. Now can close shop already.

For this pregnancy I got a strong feeling that I'm expecting a girl, and my pregnancy symptoms were very different from the first time.

So Kome & Cindy, do you have any "gut" feeling/instinct if it's a boy or girl?

Hoon
Nap......i gt no feeling at all, but this pregnancy actually is more xin ku than my 1st pregnancy. Although really hope for a gal gal but if a boy i also okie lar, just don't know will all the guys at my hse gang up and bully me or not. Haha......

Kome

Well.. think about it only after tonight! I'm sure you are very excited now, and can't wait for the appt time to arrive soon. Keep us updated yah.

Asura,
Mind if I ask what Treatment shampoo? I wash my hair daily to avoid the oily scalp, but still dropping hair, and got worst after pregnant. I would like trying Treatment shampoo if you said it works, as my problem i feel also cos of oily scalp.

Girls,

I'm so anxious to go for my appt today...
I have told BB to let doctor see him/her clearly so that Daddy can start buying the clothes we saw online for him/her as promised...heehee...

See ya, I'm off for my appt...

Will be back to update soon...

Hoon
Ok, will update your tomorrow. You are right i am so excited but at the meantime also scare. Coz might need to draw blood for testing today.

Gingal
Yesterday and this morning i also told bb to be guai guai and open leg big big so that we can look for a name for he/her. Waiting for your update.

re: bathing during confinement

i use the 'rice wine' with warm water to wipe myself twice a day but never wash hair until 2 weeks later cos my auntie keep telling me to ren for at least 2 weeks. seem like she went to wash her hair and she kanna v bad headache even up to now.

but i truely believe tat dun touche cold water cos there are times when i clean my wound with the shower head, cold water accidentally touched my kneecap and i can feel pain in my kneecap the next day. my malay massage lady say that got wind inside.

after 2 weeks ... my mum cant stand me herself hahahaha so she allowed me to bath using the herb water once a week ... then slowly become once every 3 days heehee but i always make sure that i blow dry my hair immediately after the bath.

i think you either have really short hair or hair long enough to tie up. if neither here nor there - v irritating.

re: buying tonic

usually my mum will pass me the bill after she buy the tonic and cos my hubby side they dun have the habit of eating tonic since young ... my MIL didnt buying anything for me too. so for those of you with parents or PIL who out of their own will buying stuff to pamper you ... you are v lucky *envy*

re: sleeping on left

i rem that its recommended that we zzz on our left so that its better for blood circulation to the bb =) anyway i am a 'side' sleeper so no problem for me. last time when i want to disturb my #1 .. i will purposely curl myself up so that he will kick me hahahaha cos sometimes too long never kick i become worried so i disturb him lor - no wonder now he always come and disturb me. must be retribution!!

kome ...

mine oso all guys hahahaha but i say that all the guys will pamper the one and only lady round

When bb is out, don't know to wash the clothes together in machine or hand wash seperately.

Hmmm...Wonder will the clothes smell of all kind of food if wash together with machine. haha...

Oppsgal
We will need to change bb's clothes and diapers quite a number of times per day. I think it is better to machine wash just the bb's clothes alone and if there are food or milk spilt on the clothes than use water to rinse them first before put into washing machine with other bb's clothings.

Seabreeze
I the only girl in my family but since like my bros bully me more than helping me. Heehee......but ok lar still not that very bad.

Sportyger
Hope bb will cooperate.

gingal,

I am using Keratase, Bain Gommage for my oily scalp. My hair therapist advise beginning to use alternate days... but if any point of time, u feel tightness in ur scalp, change to twice a day... and slowly change to once a week. Try that first, it is does not work for u, u gotto get treatment ampoule for the scalp. I used once cos i dropped too much hair.. It is a one time thingy.. (abt 3 months) after that, back to treatment shampoo only.

Also, please dont use rejoice type of shampoo, for oily scalp it is not advisable to use 2-in-1. Best to use just shampoo and conditioner separate. For shampoo, get those for daily use to alternate with treatment shampoo.

congrats to sportyger and hoon!
girls r such joy, so tie1 xin1 n sensitive. today i got really upset at my 2 yr old girl and u know wat she did? instead of throwing a tantrum, she kissed me on the face, waited for my reaction (i tried hard not to luff) n then she did it again, n again, n kissed me all over my face! so cute rite? hee....

good luck to kome and gingal too!

congrats sportsger n hoon!

Rem to update us, Kome n gingal! so excited for u gals. I still have to wait 2 more weeks before my next gynae visit.

Sharon
ur gal so sweet... Cute! She's such a dear. Muz be hard to be upset with her.. =D

oppsgal,
for my first one, i handwashed all her clothes for the first few months coz i dun wana mix her washing with ours. n her clothes r so small n few so it's a waste to use the washing machine. i used a detergent specially for bb clothes.

kome,
u mentioned washing diapers, r u intending to use cloth nappies? think using cloth diapers would hv added to my post natal depression, so hard to wash! :p i used disposables n never looked back. hee...

minnie24,
hee... it's the first time she did voluntary kisses, ie. without us asking. she's getting cheeky! m getting very short tempered lately but trying real hard not to get upset with her!

sportyger/Hoon..congrats on your princess!! hee..Kome and gingal, do update us on your bb's gender. So excited for u all, everyone is able to find out bb's gender..haha very soon the list will be fully updated. =)

sung, dun be disappointed...who knows yr bb will give u a surprise one of these days, give u a real hard kick..haha.. =) its normally at the lower tummy..i wonder why..and i tot bb will slowly move upwards? hee..

Re: herbs for bathing...if i'm nt wrong, 1 packet costs $3.00...and shampoo power can also be bought at Chinese Medical Hall. I dun tink i can stand no bathing for 1 whole mth lor, will go crazy ah! haha..i gt very thick hair somemore, later housefly go in also faint ah wahahah..

Sharon
Really so nice and sweet. Kiss you to asked for your forgiveness.

Sharon
I had purchase the bumwear cloth diaper for my son just few mths ago and i intend to pass down to #2 and use. My mum and i prefer to use cloth diaper during day time and disposable diapers at night. This is to prevent rashes also.

Guest
My Hb likes it very much. They are quite breathable also. My Hb said that it is easy to wash even if my son poo poo on it. Nite time we use 2 inserts to last till morning than bath my son and change it. I not very sure will there be any problems for newborn.

kome,
heard tat bumwear is ez to wash, is it true? does it fit newborns too? i bought some for my girl when she was 3 months old, but it was so bulky n kept slipping off, but then she was a small bb. when she's older, she simply refuse to wear it. lucky i only bot 2 pcs to try.

Hehe.. hoon, nopes no gut feeling though I already dreamt that it was a boy several times, think 3 to 4 times!! That goes to show how much I fear it man!!
sad.gif
hehe like you, kome and I have boy as #1 so we really hope for princess to close shop! heheh

kome, keep us updated ha!

Sharon
I just put together with some of my son's clothing to wash together, but cannot put into dryer for the pants insert no problem. I gt 4 pcs for my son, so intend to use and try it for newborn bb.

Cindy
