isotonic drinks are to help restoe the lost salt in the body...
if you consume too much...might even provoke to the swelling of legs and water retention...which will make you feel worst...

Ladies
Good to know that no MS is not abnormal but I also heard that MS is also a good sign as it means your baby is growing well.

Jasmine
Yah..I know she has 5 kids. I started seeing her 19 months ago when I was trying to conceive and for my pregnancy, I continued with her and had two visits already. The nurse also told me that they do not have package anymore, but I think paying by per visit will cost slightly more than package. But I don't mind paying a bit more for a good gynae.

Sun
Thanks for the update

scrumpee,
Her appt all very tight timing. That day my appointment supposed to be 12.10pm I waited till 2.20pm to see her and she gt scissor at 2.30pm so rush. Too bad I can only go on sat for appt. if not have to take time off to see her. Im considering to see her on weekdays after my next appt. on 23 Aug. Dam xiong to sit there wait for so long, and my butt stone after sitting there for so long.

minnie24...

you can try gingerale, ginger tea, soda water...take small munches ..try not to have an empty stomach...coz acid that's why MS can be bad...

For isotonic drinks - I guess with all things, in moderation la. Today drink, tmr eat something else to cope with MS..if not..very hard to function at work.

Jasmine
yesss...agree. SHe has lots of patients and waiting for more than an hour is common. Sometimes I wonder how much she earns a month...keke

Srumpee
I think all gynaes earn quite alot. I sometimes also wait abt 1 hr or so for my turn even with appt. My hb said next time train my son to be a gynae, can earn so much.

dear MTB
have you all been taking milk?? there is this ANMUM for early pregnancy milk formula...highly recommended.....do check it out..and also the next visit to your gynea, ask for the " baby care kit" it contains a small mag, anmum samples and things for the baby..blah blah..

all mummies,

Common pregnancy problems

Often pregnancy brings with it some of these troublesome conditions. Here are some of the more common pregnancy problems and how to deal with them.

Anaemia: If you find yourself tiring easily, chances are that you are anaemic. Apart from the iron pills from your doctor, eat plenty of green vegetables, lean red meat, dried fruits and nuts as a natural source of iron. Iron supplements may cause constipation

Backache: Sleep on a firm mattress. Maintain good posture – standing straight and not slouching when sitting. Keep to low-heeled shoes to avoid adding further strain to your back.

Morning sickness: Take smaller meals instead of three big ones. Nibble on plain biscuits when you are feeling hungry. Try some ginger or ginger ale which is supposed to quell the nausea. Avoid spicy foods and strong smells.

Frequent urination: Your baby is pressing on your bladder causing frequent urination. At night, lessen your fluid intake so that your sleep will not be broken by trips to the loo.

Breathlessness: Your uterus pushes up the diaghragm and your lungs have less room to expand fully. You find yourself becoming more breathless because of this. To help you breathe better when lying down, prop yourself up with pillows to raise your head and shoulders.

Constipation: Pregnancy hormones relax the gut, so food passes through the system more slowly. To help your bowel movements going, eat more fibre, get plenty of fluids and do some light exercise – going for a stroll after dinner.

Cramps: You may find yourself experiencing cramps in your legs or feet. Calcium tablets may help. Or include a little more salt to your diet – but check with your doctor before you do this.

Fainting: Many women get fainting spells especially in the first trimester because of the poorer blood circulation to the brain because of the increased progesterone. You can help yourself by moving your legs to keep the blood flowing. When seated or lying down, and you need to get up – do so slowly.

Haemorrhoids (piles): These can be made worse if you constipate. Labour often aggravates them. Most times, they should subside after you have given birth. If not, let your doctor know and he may prescribe suppositories or ointment to shrink them. To help yourself, drink more water and include more fibre in your diet.

Heartburn: Because of the baby pushing on your stomach, this may cause the digestive juices from the stomach to back up into your throat area, causing heartburn. Tell your doctor if it gets unbearable. He may prescribe you drugs to safely prevent it. For some people, drinking a glass of milk helps prevent it.

Water retention: You may find your ankles, feet and hands becoming very swollen. This is caused by water retention. You can try to minimise this by reducing your salt intake and putting your feet up whenever you get the chance.

Rashes: Some pregnant find themselves getting rashes especially under the breast and in the groin area. Avoid tight fitting clothes and go for cotton underwear.

Tiredness: This is normal, especially in the first and last trimester. Try to get at least eight hours of sleep every night, and if possible, take a nap during the day.

Crosailo,
I have the "baby care kit" set last week when I visit my gynae. The nurse gave to the mummies who visit there.

hi all, does anyone notice that you are pregnant even without you telling them in the first place?

one of my colleagues asked whether i am expecting. i believe she didn't learn abt my pregnancy from the others. she told me i look that i'm expecting! didn't have to chance to ask her for details cos rushing for class..

does anyone have similar experience?

kome....

my gynew doesn't have package...but so far i have taken 2 packages...yes quite useful..i saw another issue is for mothers who is near to labour..that includes a bag..

Crosailo
Ohh....gt so many package? They only gave 1 to me. They are so stingy.

Corene & Oppsgal
That is why i don't want to wear too big clothes yet.

Kome. Feel very fat...my old clothes feel very small. No choice buy a few new and bigger clothes. Wear shorts also cannot button.

Package contains what?

Oppsgal
Think contain some magazines and some milk powders for mother. Actually i have buy some flare dress to cover up also. hope no pple will know when i wear them

gtg.....byeee....chat with your tomorrow. Haiz....night abit hard to log in and chat if possible will log in at night again.

oppsgal and kome, in fact, i wear babydoll clothes even b4 i'm pregnant and i wore some tight fitting blouse these few days too.. i was surprised when she asked me.. maybe it's the pace i walk..slower & more cautious than usual now..

oppsgal,
Your package is different is it. Mine I have baby Care magazine July-Dec 08, milk powder for mum's, baby bib & Huggies diaper sample etc...

maybe cos she's also a mother..

i believe we can still take ginger. cos when i read a pregnancy book, it is stated that taking dried, sweetened ginger can help to curb the feeling of MS

Jasmine. The hospital package only offer that much for me.

Some people just ask if got baby. My colleague also ask me...That time also I don't know I pregnant.

Hi Oppsgal,

That is one of the qn I have asked my gynae today. He told me that if you use ginger to cook dishes it is fine. He dun assume anybody to eat it as a snack. Hee So I guess moderate amount of ginger is fine.

Hi all MTBs

I am 6 weeks preggie le and I am so cautious that I tend to walk very slowly. My hubby say I walk like I am into my 2nd trimester. Hee. Do u think I am too cautious?
happy.gif
or should I walk as per my normal speed like in the past?

Hi corene,

Everyone was asking whether i was preg when i got 2 days MC from my GP but I lied that i had a fever. Cos just tested +ve and dont really want anyone to know until i can at least hear my bb heartbeat. I am quite mindful to act normally in front of them, even when i feel nausea, i would retreat into my cubicle to suffer. The only difference is that i walk more cautiously and when i take cabs, i make sure that the seat belt is not too tight on the tummy. Luckily all my clothes got lots of room so should be able to last me for the 1st trimester. heheh... actually interesting to find out when they would realise based on our tummy and actions other than from mc taking.

Jasmine,

I just make sure i dont run... but i do find that i go a little breathless when i walk briskly nowadays. So i am also very slow... making sure that my feet land safely before i take my next step... hehe...

Jasmine, which doctor package you sign up got free magazine? Must ask then got?

GP usually don't check if pregnant anot unless you ask? My company doctor never check, we both thought is food poison.

Hi Sun

I'm sorry. I have to change my profile le. Cos me decided to change my Gynae to the following:

EDD: 23 March 2009
Name of Gynae: Dr P S Lui
Location: Sommerset
Hospital: Mt A

Sorry abt the changes. Thank you.

I agree with Asura, as long as you know your own limits, and since we are pregnant, we should just slow down just a bit on the physical things that we have to do daily just to be on the safe side. I still wear high heels to work but I am extra careful of every step. Most importantly, take care of yourself.

Hi Gals,
Thanks for encouraging me to rest at home. I will do so 

Hi Steph,
Thanks for the link on consumption of fish and seafood. Glad I can eat some prawns, though I dun particularly crave them!

Hi Scrumpee,
No I didn’t get any jab, just duphaston. I guess cos my spotting not serious. But I’d monitor closely, if it persists, I might just go and ask for a jab!

Hi gals,
This week I'm on 5day MC, for sure when i go to work this Fri or next Mon i'd have a zillion people asking me what hap!

Hi there,

I have just change my nick to JOY instead of JASMINE cos there is a Jasmine and a Jas out there. Hee. To avoid any confusion ... heehee... thanks.

Hi Ausra and Kazooie

Thank you for sharing. Just to share something with you all. I just got a pair of crocs shoes to wear for casual and I think it is good man. Got the grip and not afraid that it will slip. Good buy! hee. But as for working shoes, think preg women shouldn't wear too high lah. 1 - 1.5 inches should be fine. that is wat a chinese sinseh told me.

Thanks Kome, elina, sun & ddtan for the welcome!
Used the website Kome gave and base on my O day, my EDD should be 7th April 09. So did I join the wrong thread?

Didn't know MTB can't eat mayo...just ate fries with mayo last nite. Can MTB drink yakult?

Hi Joy,

Careful of wet grounds with crocs. My colleague bought a pair too for her pregnancy but she almost slip and fell down on wet grounds. Good thing all my shoes are lesser than 1.5 inches.. at least i know i can wear them until i am uncomfortable or cant balance.

oh no crabs contain mercury! im going to eat crab tomorrow.... swordfish too! i jus ate some just now! argHx. =\ so much for fish being good. bah.

Ok for my M/C , I was not feeling well that time and was down with flu at 5weeks+ and seen gynea and at that time confirmed pregnacy and give me some medicine for flu and was told to come back 2 weeks later . Then later at 7weeks+ , went back to gynea , and got this bad news , no heartbeat and heartbeat just stop a few days accordingly to gynea as the baby grow and can see the shape . Just the night before seeing gynea , I had bad cramps that come and goes and that's a sign of miscarriage accordingly to my gynea . Then I cried that this unexpected preganacy that came earlier than planned had to end . But I think it's fated lah , my first preg spotting and take 3 weekly an tai jab and managed to save my gal . First preg no MS or anything , second preg MS was very bad for first tri that I lost 3kg instead but luckily baby did grow .

*sayang wish a boy*

im also having flu & taking meds... have cramps on & off... shld i be worried? hmmm... day before after peeing when i wipe, can see very very dark stale blood but only a bit... hmmm... my fever has subsided but still have sore throat and bad bad cough... =\

Wish a boy,

Am sorry to hear your sad story. Like missycandy, i am also wondering if i should be worried about the cramps that comes on & off? How bad were ur cramps? Any spotting then? Hope you dont mind sharing.

missycandy
If you got spotting when wipe, maybe you want to go to your gynae and get some duphaston pills to eat. That time i also got spotting when wipe for 1 day, till now my gynae still asking me to eat the pills.
