Sleeping through…
My boy started to sleep through the night when he turned 3 months old, just before I started work. The trick is to keep them active in the day, restrict their day nap and give them a full last feed. When night falls, they would be tired and sleep through.
It took me some time to train him sleeping through. There were many days (in fact MOST days) during my maternity leave when he’s tired, but just refused to sleep until 2-3am, sometimes even 4 or 5am. No matter how I rock him, sway him, sing him 2 hours of Twinkle Twinkle little stars and ABC, he just didn’t want to sleep… I used to latch him to sleep back then but I wanted him to kick off the habit of latching to sleep. And of course there were also days when he would guai guai sleep till dawn (but that’s very RARE!!!)
I was damn stressed out when he couldn’t sleep through during my maternity leave despite my effort cos that would affect my sleep and concentration when I started work..
And heng heng, just 1 week before I started work, Baby K decided to cooperate with me to be a good boy by letting me enjoy my long –lost sleep…
Between 3 – 5 months, he would sleep from 9pm to 8am (weekdays) and (10pm to 9am) weekends.
From 5 months till current, he sleeps from 10pm to 7am (weekdays) and 10.30pm to 7-8am (weekends)
When he started teething @ 5th month, he would get fussy and ‘eh eh eh’ in the middle of the night… I am too lazy to pat him back to sleep, so just go the lazy way of stuffing pacifier into his mouth and he will fall asleep instantly…
And I am 28 this year, born in 1981. Baby K is also my 1st child..
