yea whole family is down except my hb! i'm not really recovered completely but bo bian...still need to drag myself to work. Last Sat nite very sad ah cos my MIL said some hurtful words. Aiya...have to beg HER to help take care of R for me cos i was simply too sick to get up & walk as i was having high fever, severe vomitting (>10times/day) & diarrhoea (>3times/day)...legs & body so weak. MIL said when she sick, she also need to take care both my son while we work so that is telling me indirectly that even if i am sick (but still can walk & breath), i need to get up & take care of my kids MYSELF! Her remarks was so hurtful to me leh. Dunno what to say la...anyway i swear i never made her look after my kids if she is sick but she always say she is alright even if it's just gastric pain, cold (common flu) or backache etc. Why she need to rub salt to my wound? i just dunno what she's thinking.

HUGS! Men are like that, must tell them step by step and exact instructions. Tell my hb 'Ur boy diaper is full." He never get it that I mean change the diaper. So he never change, continue playing with his console.. Must say, "Change your boy's diaper.' then the robot can process the command inside the CPU.

And they feel taking care of children is woman's job.. and they feel they 'don't know' how to take care of children cos anyway they never try.

Also quarrel with hb abt taking care of Xavier.. he had no choice now, and he look so unwilling at times and so frustrated. I just had to close 1 eye.

MIL like always take the chances to tell some messages that taking care of children not easy lor. They taking every opportunity to say they take care of kids not easy, they also very wei da. Never had comforting words, cos we are just dil.

my mil said the same things too leh. old ppl always say the same. even my mom said the same to me too. they are proud of the fact that they were more resilient than us last time in their heydays.

So the big musical ball is really nothing huh? I thought I went too early and the performance had not started yet. Then really disappointing... My girl also did not do much there but she enjoyed the short skytrain ride.

Did not manage to go Penguin Book Sale coz hubby refused to go with #2 around. Said that the place will be chaotic with an infant around. Sian...

#1 was not well over the weekend either. MIL said she did not have good appetite on thu & fri. Then she LS on sat & sun. And rashes also appeared on sat... Luckily this morning, she seemed better and no more rashes. But I really want to praise her for being a good girl y'day. We were shopping @ JP and she became cranky... Initially I was pissed at her attitude but remained patient with her. After about 5 mins, she was cranky again and refused to move from where she was standing. So I prompted if she wants to go toilet and she said yes. When I brought her there, she already LS!! This means she "lun" her poo poo until then and must have been very umcomfortable for her. Poor girl but very good girl. Not even a trace of poo in her diaper. Must really applause her for that.

Last sat went to music class again and talked to the teacher who thinks my girl can advance to MIM Playtime liao. Very happy. Now waiting for them to start the class (must have min 4 students) in Jan 2010.

Agreed with every mummy here that MIL/mum will say those stuff. Last sat, hubby told me that my MIL was complaining abt his younger bro regarding his new flat's reno. So I just casually asked if MIL in bad mood recently. Then hubby asked what happened and what did MIL say to me recently. I refused to tell him the comments MIL made to me on Fri. Think that no point coz he will qns MIL and made her unhappy.

i never doubt my MIL that taking care of my children can be an easy job for her. I'm just disappointed why she have to comment such hurtful remarks. She even commented on my own parents (my mum who is only taking care of my 4YO niece), why can't she take care of MY sons when i needed help or when i am sick. MIL said she already take care of my boys from Mon-Fri & WE (me & hb) expected them to sacrifice their wkends (for rest) as well?? But i've got my own difficulties too...on my mum side. Is not my mum don't want to help BUT is my hb who don't trust my parents & also he don't like Z to mix with my niece reason being will pick up alot of bad habits & bad manners etc. Sian la, never ending also...i always tell my hb that we can't choose who our parents or our siblings, we have got to accept them & love them for who they are. we can't change them "their culture" nor avoid them forever also unless sever all ties??

harnor, my hb oso dun like my mom's style of parenting so my mil has to sacrifice lor. if my mil never say anything, we just keep piling on her lor.
i think my mil a bit crazy sometimes. she got so much on her plate, she dont want to say NO to ppl ard her (kia-si), and when we asked her how she is, she keep lamenting that she is very bz/tired/burntout. when i offered to put x in cc, she will say oh its not that tiring lah, still can cope lah

pls lor. you want to make urself bz n choose to bake/make/create instead of buy, then dun say u got no time to rest lah.

Like that your PIL very the funny also hor. Cos you were thinking of putting Z at cc, but they rejected and strongly against the idea. Now you fell so sick and asked for 1 day of "extra" help, then she complained and complained also. I thought their love for the grandson should be unconditional one? Just 1 day only mah, said so much, then why don't let you put Z at cc, so she can have more time for herself? Funny hor. Ya, generation gap!

They taking the opportunity to say what they wanted long time back. Think your MIL also like want someone to sa jiao, sayang and feel appreciated. Not saying that you don't appreciate them, perhaps they need BIGGER and LOUDER words or actions. Should get your hubby to handle her. I also hear my mil harsh word every now and then until I sian liao.. only can complain to hb lor.

Like what pixie say they are wanna boast abt they are "more resilient than us last time in their heydays."

the older generation will always be proud of the fact that they did more than us, and somemore they are double our age; double their experience over us too. sure need to have this "edge" over us else they no face oso. aka my salt taken is more than your rice taken

pixie, hugz. you know that you are not alone right! remember i complained abt my hubby many times? after talking to him he was quite hands on and auto liao, although all the main chores are still done by me. so you must communicate with ur hub.

it was hilarious that he asked me to write an SOP at home so that he knows what should he do. I din really write down anyway, but i urged him to remember by heart. So what he does is washing bottle, make milk, wash dishes, hanging laundry , put my boy to sleep ( he is faster than me)

yea u are right, they are very the funny...to the point of getting on my nerves! My MIL wanna show the whole world (relatives/friends) she very the wei da, can go all out for her grandson then when CNY gathering, all relatives (KPO aunties) will say...wahhhh u very the fortunate, got MIL to help u take care of your sons 24/7 *duh* as if DIL do nothing all day except sleep & eat! Already hint & discuss the option of cc to PIL but they still strongly against the idea. They also say $300++ monthly very ex, might as well give the $ to them!! It really makes me think if they are asking for more allowance indirectly? Now, hb gave her $600 & FIL $200 monthly excl FM & diaper.

And we mummies here talking about MAN...our hubbies in helping out to take care of our kids, share hsework etc...my MIL was telling me that last time, FIL don't even lay a finger to help take care of my hb & his younger bro(their children). She said last time, FIL don't even change diaper & i am SO lucky that my hb help to take care of MY SONS (change diaper, feed milk, bath etc)! My SONS leh...u hear this right? Is MY SONS, not our son meh?? harlo...they don't even follow my surname hor...so angry!

which means she ask me to do the same for my hb (her son) - heck care the situation. WTF lor, now is what century liao, how to have such stupid family dynamics? you mean all hbs/fathers hide behind game consoles, tv, pcs, newspapers then affected mummies should let it go?

btw, just now my hb called n apologise. i told him to think about the % of baths, feed, put to sleep he has done compared to mine. then tell me the answer.

steph , cool down, i think no matter how good our ILs are, they are eventually not our parents and our lifestyles and thinking, and perception or views are forever different. Let's dont get ji jiao with them, and dont put their comments to heart. Just relax and be happy ok

ya lor, I think her intention is to get lots and lots of praises from relatives/friends to say she is do "wei-da", to help her DIL (ie YOU, not his son, cos taking care of kids is a mum job for their generation) look after the kids lor. Don't take it to heart lah. It's not just your MIL, it's almost across the board, with very few exceptions.

But it's true that our mums' generation can do lots of stuff, and dads really not helping, cos that era is still very much 大男人主义. If your hub has been told by his mum (or brain wash) about how lucky his wife (ie YOU) is that he is helping you in taking care of your kids, then ya, maybe deep down in his heart, he really thinks that he is already doing A WHOLE LOT as compared to his dad.

On the other hand, I think we should appreciate that our hub is helping out. Men this era is already much better than the last era (probably because we are working parents unlike last time whereby dad is the only rice bowl). Though their mindest is changing, but I think deep down in a man's mind, most of them still think that taking care of kids and doing housework are NOT their responsibility but their wife. When you are in good mood, do praise your hub for being such a great dad etc, but must come from your heart woh, as we chinese say - 爱人者人恒爱之, 敬人者人恒敬之 :)

u seldom see me so acted up about my MIL. I am not petty nor will ji jiao with them but u'll never understand cos u don't have such monster in law to tackle. My MIL not easy kind u know...only me (i am the only DIL mah) can REN...my MIL knows she can bully me de, she know i am soft side so can eat me:p I never even show black face nor blew my top at her, not even once leh. I am very sure, no other woman (like my bro in law gal frd) will be able to tolerate her comments. I always evil thoughts that one day she will get it back from my bro inlaw gal frd (one day bcum her DIL) then she will know who is really good to her all this while.
 
kam, agree. Later i'm going to thank my hubby ( yeh!! taking half day to go shopping with him )for helping me to do lots of things after I fell asleep before the son yesterday night. I din realize I KO for 45 minutes, then suddenly woke up remembering that I got to freeze the soup stock I made in the morning, and some other chores. I walked to the kitchen and saw him doing liao and I actually felt pleasantly surprised. I asked him whether I KO bfore the son, he said YES, luckily the son din kacau me cuz I KO on his bed.
 
Steph, think your monster in law can compete with mylvera’s in laws liao . :p Anyway, yea initially I tot I’m unlucky because my MIL is insane ( yea she got mental disorder). Ok, it’s long story to tell how I survived my 1 year stay with her before I got my house. But of course, my mum always tell me to ignore her because she is mentally ill. It’s better than having “normal” in laws but a nasty one. So now I understand how you feel. But bobian right, have to face it. just don’t get too worked up, not good for our health ok!! Eventually she will know who is good, you got it!!
 
jess, thanks! actually wanna go do grocery shopping also, cuz no time to buy fruits for shaun for this week. Last weekend was too busy with too many programs liao. So later going to ION orchard ( first visit!!!) then grocery shopping. At least can shop in PEACE . hehe
 
kam/steph, yalor, i think i havent been partohing since my DS is born!! since hub will be off pm so i'm taking off too, to rest a bit. I felt that my pulse beats really faster when i'm around with Shaun, cuz it's like forever chasing after him , worrying this and that, all the time, so i will never get to shop in peace. So later i must really treasure the time liao.

Looking forward to the birthday bash. Hope my girl will not be overwhelmed by the large number of kids. Hahahaha... BTW, I may bring #2 along if MIL cannot help to look after. Should be no issue since below 1 yr and no charges.

I don't dare to ask abt the progress of the birthday bash since can't help in the preparation. Just make my family appear on that day. Believe everything is in good hands/progress on the mummies involved. Have to mention whose name huh when arrive there?

Generation gap, I am pretty sure the kids then were much easier to take care than now. Just compare 20 yrs back, when I help to take care of my baby brother and now taking of my son.. It is a HUGE difference.
