(2008/01) Jan 2008 MTBs

Pixie,
That's part and parcel of growing up. Of course it'll be great if there's no rules/standards for our kids to follow but who are we kidding? They're bound to have to learn to follow rules/regulations when they go to school, etc so we need to guide and teach them what's acceptable and what's not. We gotta find a balance somewhere - they can run wild at times but also have to learn self-control at other times.

the books are some dora/the back yardigans/mickey mouse clubhouse...and some of their activity books. not a lot of variety coz the rest are not cheap to do bp..

anyone keen in 1 x F1 ticket (worth $1488)for the actual day race (sun) for the PIT Grandstand up for grabs.
Block A11, row 5, seat 11....sms me...

Kam,
I guess my hubby knows there is always MIL as backup so he wasn't that keen about taking care of Xavier. I am not saying that he is not helping, he still plays and look after him, but putting him to sleep just made him frustrated when he think I can do it in 1/2 the time.

We had more or less settle in getting a maid. But her main job should be housework. Then me and mil take care of the children.

kitsune
It is not confirmed that #2 is a girl yet. Dunno what my gynae see, one time say maybe boy, now say cant see girl, then say maybe girl.. I decide to wait till detail scan in Oct then really believe her.
Violetice,
Yes, they only know how to say No No No. My boy would say "mai mai mai." in Hokkien and cover his face with his hands.. even on those things that he wants.

icy,
My husband also feels like ur hubby. Always got my mum as a backup so he can just laze around. Then he will take his friends as examples and say that they never even help to change diapers etc but he did. So in conclusion he feels that he is doing enough whilst I think he can do more. :p

Yvonne,
You pointed out a very valid point - that after we have #2, it's only the first few months that it's going to be tuff, and soon everything will fit in to the routine again.

For me, 1st month is certainly a big change and a big challenge for me, it's a try and error month to get things fixed. I have my very capable mum (who never nag) to thank! So even we don't have helper, we still manage 1 super active toddler and 1 cooperative baby well. Of course, there were times when everything seemed to go wrong and made all 3 of us busy. From 2nd month, everything seems to be fell back to the routine. Not too much a problem now. But soon I will face another big challenge after my mum leaves on the 20th of Sep. But well, by then my boy should be even more understanding already, so I won't worry too much for now.

Icy,
You should be fine since you will have your MIL and maid to help out. Just give your #1 more time to get use to the change.

Kitsune,
It's good you can train R from now on. But bear in mind she may not respond the same when the "real" meimei coming on board. Best of luck witht the GF method.

Kam, haha, she's already jealous of the baby doll. Today, I tried to nurse 'mei mei' doll and she snatched the doll away and make 'suckling' sounds herself. Faint! :p Told her Mei mei has no teeth so can only drink mummy milk whereas she can eat all the good food. Don't know how much went in her little head though. Bit by bit lor, hope she will be more understanding over time. :p

Kam,
You have 1 super active toddler and 1 cooperative baby. But mine is opposite. I have 1 cooperative toddler and 1 super cranky, crying baby!!! Now still in confinement and I can only say I am barely coping only. With my mum and me, still more help is required. Only when my hubby comes over in wkend, I find that 3 persons is just nice to handle my kids.

My girl can be jealous of her baby bro at times but most of the time, she played by herself and don't disturb didi that much. But she does sayang him a lot like hugging, touching and kissing him. Quite sweet lah but she does things which I think is getting attention from us. But coz now she only comes to my mum's place for wkend. When I goes back home and my girl will face her baby bro everyday, I bet it will be a different story.

Now my headache is my #2. He is super cranky at night and can fuss for at least 1 hr after each night feed. This is driving me crazy as I am fighting for sleep desperately. He just goes on crying... Can be due to diapers too full, poo poo, aircon too cold for him etc... Only way to calm him down is to carry him and walk around... This is bad and I know it will develop into a bad habit but no other way... My mum kept hubbing me to give pacifier and yaolan but I am trying the delay strategy not to give either. Coz for my girl, I gave both and my MIL had since kept saying that other kids don't need yaolan or pacifier but why my kids need... A bit angry at what she said... So I try not to give.. but my #2 is draining my patience... Haiz...

krystle,
there will always be somebody who disagree with wat u do coz they are nt takin care of ur child, do wat u deem fit as u r the mother.
happy.gif

dun drain urself out too soon, still got a long way ahead. jia you!!

Krystle,
People bound to have something negative to say no matter what you do. Every kid is different so cannot compare. If your #2 really find the pacifier soothing, just give and wean off later. No point torturing yourself and the baby. That's what the PD told me
happy.gif

Luca and Yvonne,
Thanks for your comforting words. I think I may have to intro pacifier liao. Really can't stand to see him crying his lungs out. Too much air going into his stomach also no good right?

krystle,

If you really can't bear for him to cry anymore, just give him pacifier. Better than him crying so much. I gave Ian his pacifier when he was only 3 weeks old! He was crying a lot and also screaming my head off. Plus he loves to suckle so I gave in the end. But we managed to make him quit when he turned 18 months.

morning mummies

krystle
i latched my boy on when he was newborn...and after 2 weeks, my nipples were too sore to take it, so i gave him bm in bottle. but he wanted to suck on my nipple for comfort and we didnt want to gave in to him...2 whole days of crying...we caved in and intro him the pacifier.
aiyah, if can wean your bb off in future then can liao. i just weaned my boy off the pacifier now leh, like violetice.

kitsune,
CDA account must wait till #2 is born then can open. OCBC got a booth in TMC when i delivered R so we just apply our CDA once R's birth cert is ready on the 2nd day. Save us the trip to go down OCBC bank
happy.gif

As for the baby bonus cash gift of $4K, yes i think can be deposited into the CDA acct but need to fill up a separate form (chk with OCBC & they will advise u).

pixie,
nope they haven call me yet...will give them a call later today. Will update u guys again.

Steph, thanks. Oh, that's what the OCBC booth is for. It's convenient hor but don't know whether Raelynn's chinese name can be confirmed by day 2. Will be choosing from one of the ideal names from RaeAnne's list but may still need to confirm depending on her date and time of birth. :p

kitsune,

no hurry cos after we applied the CDA...still have to wait for OCBC to approve (might take a month or so). MCYS will sent us a notification that we can start deposit $ into the CDA acct. Raelynn will rec'd her very 1st ATM CDA card with her name on it
happy.gif
Note this card is under current acct so when you visit PD clinic using this card, need to enter current instead of saving acct! Cos the 1st time using the card, i blur blur...punch in saving acct & the machine said card invalid...i called up OCBC to find out & was told is under current acct *Duh*haha blur mummy:p

Krystle, Kam, Steph, since you delivered at TMC recently, can share which level is good cos I need to book my room now. Seem to remember Kam saying that level 3 service is not so good anymore. Krystle/Steph, which level did you stay, are you happy with the service? Can recommend? Thanks.
happy.gif

Oic, okie, think must make a trip down to ICA if we miss the birth registration at TMC. :p If need both mummy and daddy to be present then more mafan cos hubby cannot take leave unless school hols. :p

kitsune,
krsytle delivered at gleanegle, not TMC. to my understanding, you cannot choose which level, it's basedn the availability when you admit. for booking purpose, you only need to tell them which room type you want, eg, single or 2-bedded. be relax, do what you think is best for your baby NOW, and don't think so much ahead. JIA YOU!!!

krsytle,
as what i read, pacifier is not a bad thing leh. cos by nature baby wants to suckle. don't be too harsh on yourself. we intro pacifier to #1 when he was 1 month old, also because he cried a lot, then he self-wean off at 4th month :) that day want to intro to #2 also, but she refused.

Kam, I checked with the clinic assistant before. Can choose which level preferred, just need to indicate on the form that TMC sends back just that it's not guaranteed. ;) So, you stayed at Level 3 right? I remember something about you having to go to nursing counter to get things yourself. :p

Krystle, I bought 3 different types of pacifiers but RaeAnne rejected all of them. Guess she only wanted mummy's breast lor. LOL. :p

kitsune,

Y2008 i stayed level 5, single bedded - service was good & the nurses were friendly & pro-breastfeeding
happy.gif

Y2009 i stayed level 6, single bedded - service was not satisfactory (press call button for nurse but took them like 5-10mins to response?? very slow leh... When i asked nurse to help me in latching properly, she just watched me instead of helping me...she didn't offer to help cos she thinks i am very experienced since this is my 2nd child. My hubby will be staying with me over-nite that's why we booked single bedder...on the first night, we asked nurse for extra pillow & blanket but nurse didn't gave him until next morning!! reason being she said she will waived my hubby companion charge for the 1st night as we checked in the ward after 9pm therefore allow to sleep in but not entitled to the extra set of pillow+blanket+toiletries until next day!! The companion charge $75+/day includes sofa-bed+pillow+blanket+toiletries...so everything TMC will charge accordingly. I was just disappointed with their service la...they dun go extra mile for the customers unless we PAY! However, their confinement meal is still yummy

Pixie, I think our kid throw tantrum because they want something but they couldn’t get it or they couldn’t express themselves. So I usually ask him you want this? He will express by nodding or shaking his head. Does this mean to give in to everything he wants? I don’t give him dangerous item though. But if he wants charger I will give, or anything else, I will give in order to please his curiosity. But if I don’t want to give, I will let him cry, then let him cool down a bit then walk to him again and “preach” him again, he seems likes figuring out and thinking what you are explaining – I got to po lo soh and tell my reasons, then he ok liao. Got to explain explain and explain. I think they get it.

Thanks, Steph for the feedback. I was thinking of level 5 too cos I think the single premier rooms are there so service should be good bah.
happy.gif
But I think wendy or another mummy said level 3's service was good. Coincidentally, my gynae clinic also at level 3, just walk over to see me for ward rounds, like very convenient. haha.

Maid – anyone knows whether I can hire Vietnamese as maid here ourself? Can we apply the working permit for them ourselves?

kitsune, because the vietnamese lady is my existing maid with my mum in KL, her contracts ending next year and we are thinking to get her to help me here :p But we do not want to go thru agent. So dunno whether I can apply permit for her myself instead?

kitsune,
I see. No, I didn't say that :) What I feedback was like what steph described - have to wait for a long while for them to attend after ringing the bell, and have to ring a few times. Otherwise, it's ok generally. Tends to have some very friendly and some not-so-friendly nurses at every floor. Both times I stayed at Level 3 single bedded. Somehow felt 1st time stay was better but can't say why though.

Good news!!

Verene - i've checked with stage & such if they could accommodate another mummy & tod in the class but they strongly reckon that the max class size is 8 mons + 8 tods so that the teacher/s can better focus on the tods. The lady reckon that we put you on wait list in case any mummy back out/gave up last min, you can join us then.

morning mummies!

Back at work feeling more tired! hehe..The only good thing is at least my hb did "help me" out more during the weekend after I sms him on friday nite how stress and tired I am handling both work and family.

violetice,
My gal is behaving exactly just like yr boy. I must be the one doing everything for her, not the daddy or grandma or anyone else.

I think I am in a more difficult situation cos my gal can talk really well and can argue with us. She will insist on her way in everything. She choose what she wants to wear for clothes, socks n shoes and what she wants to do now by speech and actions. Hb is asking what has I been teaching her that make her so advance in both speech n motor skills.

Kam,
U r always my inspiration..
happy.gif
I am also the only one since day 1 to handle my gal during her bedtime. Tried passing my gal to my parents last week to sleep in their house in order to prepare her so that when i go deliver the #2 but my gal tells my parents that she wants to go home and find mummy.

tongtong, why dont u get the agent to do it for u regarding employing the maid? Some agent only charge like $100 plus, can save alot of trouble for u.
My friend also does that. She has someone whom she wants then she ask the agent just to purely help her to settle all the paperwork.

tongtong, r u preggie or TTC?

ICY: Congrats and hope u get a girl!
happy.gif

kam, krystle : jiayou! all u secondtime mummy r wonderful! i realli admire ur peseverance n courage

Shannon, your gal is so good that she can talk now! Mine still not, still waiting for the day hehe. Oh can ask agent to help? That’s good! I will get help from agent then.

Aqua, will only TTC when I have got a maid then.

Kam, yea agree with Shannon, you are always my inspiration because you are so positive! Maybe that’s the trait for being a person in the management level? Hehe

shannonbaby
My boy oso "argues" with us. Funny hor, can't talk we worry, can talk we faint. When we can understand them, seems like harder for us not to give in to their requests. Cos they already ask! Hahah...

2 weeks ago, Elliot saw a man washing car in the carpark. Elliot shouted "UNCLE"... the man happily turn ard greeted us. Then Elliot said "Uncle play water"... I kept saying washing car, he kept saying play water. So paisey

This am, we met the same man. This time Elliot say "Uncle washing car, I THINK!!!" Hahahaha...

shannonbaby / tongtong,
Aiyoh, don't say like that leh, make me pai-seh :) It's simply that don't have any other options lor, now that my mum is here, I enjoy it so much, cos can laze around, my mum is a super-housewife, can do everything :) Plus my son and my daughter are not difficult babies. And also my job is pretty much stress-free, and this helps a lot. Unlike yours it's demanding job woh. I was thinking to change job to a more challenging one, but afraid other jobs may not offer the flexibility and the stress-free environment I am enjoying now.

Tongtong, once you settle the maid issue, it's time to TTC liao! Maybe Shaun will change to a more easy to handle baby once he has a sibling :)
