mylvera, haha, you think so too? Ya, maybe, let her sleep on the accordian mattress first, if she complain and she performs well then I buy a better tilam for her. ;P

I can buy a sea horse mattress for myself next time. Actually I prefer the accordian type of mattress cos more compact. Hubby say can let no. 2 sleep on tilam after 6 months then no need to be worried that she'll fall off the bed. :p

Just buy those normal mattress from market will do mah. As for her cardboard and other furniture etc, if got 2nd hand then use loh.
 
Krystle, I got built in cabinets in the recess area under windows but it's filled with stuff and smells musty cos I never clear it. :p I'll go check, maybe after I take out the new spare pillow (for the maid to use anyway), she can put her stuff inside as long as she doesn't have big items. :p
 
blessedbaby, I got juice maker but never make for RaeAnne to drink. Cos she's happy drinking plain water so I also lazy, scared after she's used to sweet juice, don't want plain water liao. :p
 
hehe, blessedbaby, I think fruits is better than giving juice cos got both fibre and vit C.

I see... Coz I think I won't be so nice to my maid to buy new mattress and furniture for her. Hehehe. Planning to get a maid too but got to wait until end of the year at least. Coz waiting for my BIL to move out of my MIL's hse (he just got his 2nd hand flat and now looking to renovate it). Then can use his room for the maid. Then comes with all the furniture already. But mattress better to buy new ones due to hygiene purposes.

I only make juice that can blend in whole fruit one. I don't make juice that only squeeze out the juice and left the good fiber behind. One of Hao Re's (and hubby's) favourites is the avocado milk blend with honey :)

i very kiasu one.. the juice i buy is those organic type.. i got give water, juice n fruits also.. i m also thinking of buying the blender n make juice for my boy instead of buying the organic juices.
 
Self contradicting. Hahaha... If got 2nd hand mattress that is not too old or dirty, I will use for maid. If really very bad condition, then buy those cheap cheap ones from pasar malam.

sorry to hear that...at least your hb is fending off you ILs. for me, even though i dont like my mil to take care, my hb sides his mom all the time, i feel very "alone" if you get what i mean
 
Mommies, u know where to buy kitchen furniture. Looking for a side table which I cook put some appliances coz not much table space in the kitchen, Good to have shelves below.

SAHMs, how do you all discipline your kids? I have my 2 running amok when together.

isnt it better to give fruits cos besides vits also got fiber? Anyway, me got give Rylee a bit of juice when we blend for ourselves - those mix orange/apple/celery/tomato kind. She loves it. But we dont do this all the time lah.

Thanks for the advice, okie, I don't buy the mattress first then. Sigh, I still don't know where to let the maid sleep in the baby room or living room. Cos I'm not sure if RaeAnne will guai guai sleep in the cot when the maid arrives. Now, she'll cry and wake up when she finds herself in the cot and don't have mummy's warm tummy to poke. Then hubby will carry her and put her back into the bed with us cos he doesn't want to keep waking up and carry her mah. But if put the maid in living room, for sure, she can't hear RaeAnne or baby crying next time lar cos so far away. Sigh. :p

Yo!!!! I am back! 1 day overdue, so far so good. Baby's position neither low nor high so wait. Placenta ok, blood pressure ok, no water retention, so doc gave me another week to hang in there. Maybe baby wanna wait for daddy to come back tomo night :p

Today at TMC, so embarassing, think I go in so often for checkups for #1, then after that PD visits for #1, then now checkups for #2, even the valet pple recognize me, ask me 1 year 2 baby issit.

mylvera, thanks!!!!! You too k, rest as much when you possibly can. the confinement lady wanna recommend her friend to you? She take your deposit already? Be careful k. The last time I took my friend's confinement lady, also come highly recommended then she cant make it, so pass me to her friend, so I paid her friend the deposit then 2 months before I due she told me she cant make it, recommend her friend to me. Their recommend is not like pass the job to another, is more like she become middle person, charge the other new CL recommendation fee, must give ang pao one, then undercut the fees. Make my confinement super messy and super unhappy. Only good that came out was the last confinement aunty was good. I hate those fly kite ones. I also got the same excuse le, her son getting married. Super sudden hor. How come 2 months before then know one.

pixiepixel, she watches your niece as well? Then can understand that its tough to divide her time when there is more than 1 grandchild at home.

Babe, hmmmm tell myself patience patience patience, else I ignore their bad behavior if she is testing me, if not I will scream at the top of my voice when patience runs out. But I will usually try to redirect the behavior. If she pulls my glasses, I will ignore and just tell her that its not right to do so, I will not kick up a big fuss, else she finds it funny to irritate me, just like irritating her grandpa, coz she does that to him very often.

You are still hanging there! Doc gave you another week to go so maybe next week can hear your good news?? I don't know if I still can hang on for 2 mths.... Everyone who sees my tummy cannot believe I still got 2 mths to go and all asked me to take HL now... How to take 2 mths HL... My work is still not completely handover yet.
 
I read this article in a magazine. This ang-moh mummy met a friend and her friend asked her what her kids (2 kids of 5-6 years old) do after school. She said nothing, just play at home. Her friend was shocked and said since Singapore offers so many different kind of classes at reasonable price, how can you deprive your children's chances of learning, and it's a "total waste" of time for not sending the kids to classes. The ang-moh took her advise and went ahead to arrange for many classes for her classes, thought it's for the benefits for her children, before asking her kids if they want to. Then she and her 2 kids ran around the island like mad everyday attending the classes. Until the point that the kids hated their mum, and cried and begged to not to attend the classes. At the end, her mum gave in and she finally realise it's the quality time that she spends with her kids that counts, not how many classes they should go to. She is now promoting "unstructured learning through play".

If you were the mum, would you listen to the children and stop the classes? Or you would think children don't know much, I am the parents, I know what's best for them?

but i believe they will be interested in something.. we parents have to help discover what is it

haha, Kam, I also believe must let children have enough time to play, but sometimes the kiasu streak will still emerge. Strike a balance lor, that's why I decided just try out 2 hr playgroup. Learn a bit and rest of the time, she can play. Was tempted to send her for LNT on weekends since now Tampines got branch. But don't want to spoil her weekends since Mon - Fri, already got class liao. :p

Tough question leh. Maybe will listen to the children. Coz if they don't enjoy the lessons, go also no use. But I am not sure in reality, will I really do that... Currently have not send my girl to any lessons but planning to try out LNT or GraceKids by end of the year after I deliver. But I won't go for many many classes coz of $$$$ factor. Maybe 1 such enrichment class each week bah. As for playgroup, maybe I wait until she is 3 years bah.

Yes, this is exactly what I read from the book - they will be interested in something. we parents have to help discover what is it!!!

Adding to that, I believe that before children attending formal education, learning should be through play, not structured learning. For myself, I will do it myself at home. I will play with kids and let them learn. Will surely not sending them to any enrichment classes. Will only send them to classes at a much later age when we have discover what they like, eg, dancing, music, drawing etc.

just sharing though i only got 1 boy... my maid sleeps with my mum.. i have 3 rooms, me n hb masterbedrm, 1 bedroom for my parents actually n 1 room to make study room but dunno y my dad wants to sleep alone (i think cos my mum watch tv till very late) so no choice gave him the study rm... so when my boy arrived n my maid came, they both sleep with my mum cos dat time i still working n my mum suggested to share the load with us so bb sleep with her... in a way also good cos when bb cries or anything, my mum n maid can take turn to "jia ga" bb..

Pixel: my hubby told me that his mum is so much better now (goodness!!!!), and he told me to endure it. ;-) He said just think that I won't have to live with his mum as long I live with my mum. ;-) Sometimes he is obviously on my side so even his sisters got jealous. ;-)
I think I post enough about my MIL already. Better stop otherwise bb in my tummy would look like her. ;-)
 
Thanks, May/Luca, sigh, I don't have enough rooms. Hubby still hasn't done anything to the study room so it's still too messy and cramped to even put a tilam. :p

Only left our MBR and RaeAnne's room, my MBR can't even put a baby cot cos too cramped. I'm also not so keen to let the 2 kids sleep in the same room in the beginning cos I'm afraid they'll take turns to wake each other up. :p Let maid sleep in the living room, I'm afraid she'll sleep through all the crying. :p

oh dear... sounds like quite a difficult task... i guess no choice loh, better tidy up the study room, i share ur view, dun wanna put maid in living rm cos she will never know wads going on in the bedrm! if really no time to clear study rm, is it ok if when maid comes get her to clear bit by bit 1st, at least clear abit of space for her to sleep.. unless u wan #2 to sleep with u 1st? i dunno whether enuf time or not but just sharing my views...
 
May, I don't mind no. 2 sleeps with me first since I'll be BF, I got a small arms reach bedside bassinet so can use that for first 6 months before she learns to flip. At least no need to wake up and walk over to the next room every 2-3 hours.

But I don't think my no. 1 will agree to sleep alone. I'm hoping if she wakes up and cries in the middle of the night, she can go back to sleep if she sees that there's someone with her.

I thought of making hubby sleep in the baby's room with her but I think it doesn't make much sense if maid doesn't help to look after no. 1 at night cos we hired the maid cos we know it'll be difficult to look after two at night. Hubby needs to wake up at 6am everyday and he works till 6+pm everyday. Come home still need to mark scripts. So, he really needs his 6 hours of rest from 12 - 6am. I don't wish to deprive him of that.

At least if maid is in the same room with no. 1, he can sleep a bit better cos the maid is first in line to attend to the crying. :p

i also hope not to succumb to kiasu mummy syndrome.
currently my girl is attending class at grace kids twice a wk but they are only 45 min class and it's gym class and music class.
next yr when she reaches 2 then send her for those twice a wk playgroup like JG, bibinogs or GUG.
full time preschool prob only when she's 3.

that day i met my friend who just delivered her 3rd kid. she ask me what classes lexie is attending, i told her and she was like huh like tat enough ah...her second kid who is the same age as my girl is attending 3hr daily playgroup.
 


may, thanks. The maid can sleep in raeanne's room, raeanne's cot is there actually. It's my bedroom that can't fit a cot. I thought of dismantling her bed into a toddler bed. Anyone tried that yet? How old should the child be before converting cot be toddler bed?

Wonder if it'll be better since she won't fall down since got side rails but more freedom cos she can climb off the bed herself instead of crying for us to rescue her.
