(2007/11) November MTBs

Hi gals,
wish i can join u all for the lunch but I will be in Shanghai then.
Is there any mummies in SH who need anything from Sin? I dun mind help u bring over.

poochi, we ve been doing that together with cod liver oil and multi vits since Matt was 6 mths. Hmm, touch wood, he hasn't been very ill before except for a slight cold and cough at the start of winter. So I guess it does help to a certain extent.

jadefeet: when are you coming to SH? But aiya, u in SH, I back in Singapore leh. Haha... Let me know if u need any directions for SH.

MM, together with bands bah? haha!!! no particular design, just want to buy loh!! haha you keep me in the loop if you come up with something new? hehe

tinkabel, thks! I've only strted her on cod liver oil. So you feed daily huh? Hmm ok tink I shall start cos she keeps getting runny nose.

tinkabel,
I am going to SH 9-19th. Will u still be there when i arrive? Do u need anything from Sin?
I am going with super empty luggages. Will be staying at my SIL's house in Pudong side.
Any nice place for shopping n makan??
I always go Xiao Nan Guo. Dont like Nan Xiang dumplings though.

Jadefeet: I think we just brushed shoulders. I am leaving 11 April and back on 3 May. Still thinkg if I shd brought more Dumex FM here. Since Matt started on FM, the tins run out so fast. Can I confirm with u again? Can you PM me your Singapore cellphone #, so that I can sms you? There's a lot of places for makan here, depends on what cuisine. You can try Taojiang Lu/Hengshan Lu, there is Qiao Jiang Nan, Pin Chuan, Haiku etc there. The Gui Hua Lou at Shangrila Pudong is quite gd for chinese food and dim sum, their lunch or dinner buffet is also gd. As for shopping, try the Chang Le Lu/ Shanxi Nan Lu area for the xiao dian. For children's clothes, try Ninghong Underground Market at Pu An Lu / Jin Ling Lu. Happy shopping. Remember to do massages and pedis/manis here...

Cactush:
Will take half day to join u gals.

Poochi & Tinkabel, the colostrum powder is heaty as it is very bu.. Like Matt who is not heaty by nature, its okie for him to take everyday.. but for Claire, die lor... CONSTIPATION BIG TIME.

For cod liver oil as its a type of oil, its best to take for 4 weeks and break for 2 weeks before taking it again. As it will form a layer of oil under the child skin and prevent absorption of certain Vitamins. So the 2 weeks break is for the skin to "breath" and enable it to absorption those vitamins that re blocked by the oil.

Poissons, yalor.. Din hear anything from ASHM.. Mabbe she is bz bah...

MM:hey sure can meet us at TPY hdb hub on 26th for breakfast and come kaypoh choose flat with me ka :p or 27th at lucky plaza lunch time

Dreamer, got question to ask u! I see the Holland guide book till i pengsan and headache.

The Keukenhof Gardens hor, how to get there from Amsterdam? Is there any bus from the train station there? Also, ppl in Holland frenly boh? Do most of them understand English?

k@ye, me also planning to visit keukenhof this year!

u may find this website useful :
http://www.keukenhof.nl/accessibility.php

we intend to drive there. but from the website seems like there are buses direct from Amsterdam city and the airport.

dutch people generally OK and most can speak rahter good english so not to worry.

wow, u quite ambitious ah ... cover so many "countries"? u going to paris too rite? and was it scotland or ireland that u are goin too? :p

JWTS from another thread (from pasir ris thread)

Hi Mummies
JTS
re: pnuemococcal

im a mummy in may forum.. but my bb was borned in Apr..

Just to share on pnuemococcal.. For mummies who have not bring the babies to vaccinate the above, pls do so.

My colleague nephew just passed away 2 weeks ago. He was only 25 mths.

He had fever on a Monday (on and off, less than 38 degrees). So his mum only fed him with the pink panadol.

His fever did not get better. Thus, by Wednesday, brought him to see a PD at Pasir Ris (Pasir Ris Baby and Chxld Clxnxc). The doctor gave them some medicine and they went back.

By Friday, the boy still did not get better. They called the clinic to ask how. The doctor said "Nowadays, parents so kiasu, come and see me on Wed and Fri call me again!". On hearing this, the mummy felt that "Oh, maybe I really to kiasu ald.. just monitor to see how"

Things did not get better. On Monday, they decide to bring the boy to Polyclinic since he started to feel restless. The doctor decide to do a blood test for him since its the 8th day of the fever. After drawing the blood, the boy went to sleep... and passed away... Everyone was shocked...

The blood test report came out on wed and the boy was diagnosed with pnuemococcal.

The doctor at the mentioned clinic is under police investigation currently.

Dreamer, thanks! I will be spending 2 weeks in London mah. So, most likely to cover Paris, Brussels & Amsterdam only.. Ireland & Scotland too... coz mainly one day trips.. Only Paris will stay overnight lah...

Told Hubby dun want to just go Amsterdam to see the Red Light District coz quite boliao.. Must go and check out the flowers.

Saw from the keukenhof gardens url that they re having a 60yrs celebration thingy with dunno what... And the garden closed on 21st May... So lagi more stress on the planning...

Jekartik, wow.. Sure or not? Anyway, no matter what the doc says.. If the symptoms dun improve, must send straight to hospital liao.

hahaha.... i just copy paste. so not sure that is true or not. but a few mommies from pasir ris thread said they black list that doctor already, and my husband do same thing. hahaha....

jerkartik,
i think what u said is true lo. That Dr WAS my kiddos' PD. the very last time i visited him, my son was down with fever / cold too. aft 1 days with his medicine, the symptoms did not subside, i went bk again. He said the same thing with the same 'yaya' attitude. Aft that i told hb IF our kiddos fall sick again, nvr go bk to him. FYI his charges nt cheap!
I feel so sad abt this incident that u shared. But ya agree with K@ye too, that usually aft 2 days the fever doesnt subside or fluctuate, better send to hospital A&E.

k@ye: Ya must check out the flowers. But not sure if by mid May, the season for tulips over anot. Must check with dreamer. Cos I was in Holland on my 1st Europe trip right after graduation and I remember we could not visit even though we were there in Mid May cos the season is over. Do check before u go. So for scotland, u just doing edinburgh? So overnight bus from London to there? Wow, can Claire take all this long journeys?

Tinkabel, no lah... Wont be bringing Claire all the way lah... Perhaps, my Mum will go certain places first... coz she is there 2 weeks earlier...

Yup, Scotland only Edinburgh, Ireland will be going to Dublin to visit the Guiness Storehouse...

Told hubby mah, he can hao lian to his fren that we went to Ireland just to try Guiness... Hubby fell for the trick! HAha!

when Aidan fever last time, I went to NUH not going to him. Went to him just for eczema, but now husband don't want to go there again, afraid......

Jerkartik,
my fren also regretted not giving his boy of 6 this pneumo jab when he is younger, and each time when his fever doesnt subside after 3-4 days, she knows she has to rush him down to KKH, which she just did last wk. Mothers should trust our own instincts at time despite what other experts say.. at least it gives us the peace of mind knowing our loved ones are safe.

K@ye,
yr Paris becoming a Europe trip covering many countries eh..
happy.gif

MM,
my mailbox is locked leh, so sms better bet. Either i drop by to collect when u r at home, or u call me if u happen to drop by
happy.gif

lazykat,
is that normal that fever until 4 days? no? hahaha... because last time when Aidan get fever just 3 days ok already. the doctor said because his body got allergic with medicine, so he can covering fast from fever.
I will asked about my PD about this jab next months. because we must back for jab, but not sure what jab. Because we going PD in NUH, so everything got schedule already. hahaha....

Kat, yalor... Greedy of me but all subjected to changes for my UK+Europe trip! Hahaha!

Pneumo jab is not compulsory but my PD, Dr Irene Chan recommended it for Claire when she heard of us sending Claire to infant care. Anyway, i m glad that we had let Claire taken it.

jekartik: I also bring Ethan to NUH for his PD appt. Which PD do you see?

Pneumococcol jab: We only gave Ethan after his 1st birthday cos there are less jabs involved. Kena poke less...=) We rather spend our money on other jabs like Chicken pox vaccine.

oh michviv,

talking abt chicken pox vaccine, is that really necessary?? I dun feel like letting aaron take chicken pox vaccine but my hubby wants..what do you think?? chicken pox is not something very serious right??

michviv,
dr lee jiun? are we going to same PD?

chicken pox done already last jab, but pneumococcol not sure, i think not yet, because we are not planning to go to childcare since i am not working. so that time we thinking when he's 2 years to take that jab.

zzz: its more of preventing too much scarring and shorter duration of disease. Though the chicken pox vaccine is definitely not 100% preventive, if the child were to get chicken pox, he will have a shorter course of disease and fewer vesicles on the skin. I had the full blown disease myself whilst my brother had the antivirals, so I know the difference!

Jekartik: My boy sees Dr Lee Le Ye. My hubby's friend. You're seeing the Peds chief I see. hehe. Its convenient for me cos I stay in the West. Isn't it difficult for you since you're staying at Pasir Ris? Did you deliver at NUH?

Lunch: As much as I would like to join. It would be difficult for me as hubby is only off work at 1pm so no one is there to take care of E. Let me know if you're organizing any weekend high tea sessions in future...enjoy all the durian on my behalf. (sob sob!!!)

GRR... I want to complain... My Mum really giving me pattern!

I had placed deposit with Kinderland childcare for Claire liao.. Now then she told me if she knew i put the deposit, she will ask me not to put!!

Then i say if dun want to put Claire there, must tell ppl in advance... Guess what, she told me, we should decide when we re back from our London Trip!

Almost fainted... Then i told her, must give ppl at least 1 mth notice leh... Cannot suku suku like that...

Now, i also tearing my hair out!

poochi, thanks for your french holiday links! really nice ah.

this is going be a short trip for us 4 to 5 days so we thinking of doing paris & surrounds only. like the versaille palace & maybe fontainebleu, not sure yet. still planning. loire valley is nice ah...but mebbe i shud only go when its only the 2 of us, minus the ltitle one...hehehe

MM, long story... Originally is to put Claire in the Bedok NTUC CC but due to the lift upgrading project (causing claire's eczema to flare up)... So decided to put her in Kinderland lor...

Then neighbour recommended another Bedok CC (highly recommended by others too), so i call and check it out and only got placing in Jan 2010.

The current arrangement is my Mum travelling to/fro Bedok & Redhill which is tiring for her. So, she told me if the upgrading is not as bad as during the hacking... Then will be us travelling to/fro Bedok & Redhill... That i m fine lah...

I told her if need to change back to Bedok.. I must let the Kinderland know of my intentions to get my deposit.. Then she gave me the ultimate statement of ,"Deciding when we re back from London!"

U pengsan or not?

ladies....no choice i hv to bring back my helper....cannot extend the visa already ...haiz.......hopefully the doc will give me one month sick leave till delivery kakakkakaka fat hope me.....if nto i hv to be in hkg....them in sin .......
