Well.. actually we started off by worrying about his speech delay so brot him to a therapist for assessment. She then suspected that the delay in speech is a result of 'Sensory Integration Disorder' or 'Sensory Integration Dysfunction' and suggested for us to see a occupational therapist. You can google under this name to understand more...
happy.gif

In fact, till now, I am still quite skeptical about all this...coz like you say, certain symptoms I think are quite typical among some young children (eg. afraid to cut hair, go on kiddy rides, very fussy in eating, tantrums throwing for no reason)...but the way the therapist put it "better to intervene early than wait till the problem gets worse when he is older"..we decided to go through a few sessions and see how if any changes..will keep a close monitor as the fees dun come cheap! Signzzz.....

SpringD,
how much is a session? No, will send Jesse for behavioural therapy only when he's older :p

coold,
ya, over stimulation was what I brought up the other time when Dlim asked. But this whole "scolding" thing is something I just observed recently (probably cos scolding him more).

as for bintan, same reason lor...cherating further...

michele, s/w,

I haven't had a chance to ask HB yet will do when I see him...

meanwhile, I can only make it after Good Friday cos I'll be busy the week leading up to it. Will Jesse be the only official 3 yo then? haha

s/w,
I agree with Michele that I don't think it's a big deal that you don't have #2's DOB yet. I mean...it's not like he/she's going to eat anything or use much of their facilities.

I've done the booking process all the way to "accomodation" and they only asked for name and DOB so far.

Anyway, I suspect I'll have to go down to their office to book as well cos it's not "working" on my computer. We'll see...will let you know in 30 minutes
happy.gif

PS: read bad reviews about them last time too...

s/w, Michele,

wahahhaa...my HB ask, why club med? why not bintan lagoon resort?

I said, "cheaper I guess, since have promotion"

And he said, "does it just seem cheaper? or issit really cheaper?"

Anyway, the conclusion is for me to go down to take a look on Sunday. You wanna meet me there around...2pm?

springdance,
i googled a little about sensory disorder, and even the people who write about it express some sort of skepticism abt the diagnosis, labelling, and treatment of the disorder. some of the symptoms that they describe - like you said - also strike me as "huh, don't a lot of toddlers behave that way"? anyway, hope all is well with little jonas. he looks like such a fine and well adjusted toddler from the pictures you post on FB, esp those of him playing happily in the pool. by the way, how's he progressing in his speech development now? therapy helping him to express himself better? he might be just be a late developer, like my husband and brother, who both started speaking very late, close to 3 years old.

d and michele,
bad reviews referring to the posts on trip advisor? i saw the picture with the ants and went "ewwww". but i have 2 colleagues who had a very good time at bintan club med. both had kids, and 1 of them who's been there twice is even thinking of going again now that there's the natas fair deal. both loved the fact that the kids just ran off on their own from dawn to dusk (sat away from parents during dinner time even). but then, their kids are older, we'll prob have to stick a bit closer to our kids still. after good friday means weekend of 9 apr right? i'll be going to the taka bb fair tomorrow afternoon. if i wake up early enough, i might drop by tourism court before going to taka see if i can make reservations for that particular weekend (thu - mon). michele and you both ok with that weekend? should we make separate reservations on our own but fix our stay on that weekend?

good friday weekend is 02 april - which is not available for booking for the promo if i'm not wrong.

weekend after that would be 09 apr - yes. and D, all 3 toddlers would be 3 oredi by then!

i supposed its "CHEAPER" because its an all inclusive amount to pay - don't even need to bring money (unless u opt for the extras!) but if u ask me, its cheaper to go bintan lagoon or any of the resorts there anytime (other than banyan & the sister resort)! considering that i don't eat much, the eat-all-you-can concept isn't that attractive but i do want to try out a club med in my lifetime! :p

Michele,

that's wat I told my HB
happy.gif
I think he just said if I want to do it then do it.

So, it's for the 4N from 9 April? I'll only go tourism court tmr.

s/w,

let me know how crazy it is over there!

d,
i'm having my lunch in front of the computer, and will prob get to tourism court at 2pm+. tomorrow definitely can't meet you cos my mum just called and kaizer's having an uncomfortable tummy today (lots of farting and pooing) so i've gotta pick him up tonight instead of tomorrow. okay, i'll book the dates 8-12 apr 10 for my own family. and then you and michele can book around the same period for your respective families too. i think if it's 1-2 days off, it should be fine. cos we'll still see each other at the resort for at least 3 days. whee, my first holiday for 2010!

michele,
same, i do want to try at least one club med in my lifetime too. hahaa.

s/w, Mich,

that's what I told my HB...since I want to try club med once...might as well do it now, good price and have company.
happy.gif

I'll probably go down tomorrow...let me figure out their online booking thing again.

Let me know how it goes at the sales outlet.

hey springdance

Dee
It's $150 for an hour's session..have to be done weekly ...for dunnow how long a period.

Sandwich / Blueroti
Thanks alot for your encouraging words..

Yes, my boy does loves water play.. just that he takes some time to warm up to new faces and new environment. Our main concern now is his slow development in speech (think he can do not more than 10 one syllabus words only which is considered as too little for his age)...he doesn't imitate after us talking, seems to have no interests to do so. The speech and occupational therapists think that the speech delay is due to sensory disorder.

Hi all,
looking for all things green to dress up ah girl for the calendar photo shoot. She's been placed in the month of March and the theme is ST PATRICK'S DAY. I'm making a costume for her and busy sourcing for materials. If u hv anything suita...ble, pls let me know...need to make her a hat, a bow/tie/necklace, a big clover to hold, a clover bib etc...busy busy..

hi springdance
not sure if this is a good idea but does he watch DVDs? maybe can let him watch his favourite DVD eg. Barney, Thomas the Tank
he will mimic his favourite character?

SD: not sure if this is the same "disorder" my niece had. She had slow speech as well, difficulty in relating to people (extremely reluctant) and infact, was a very difficult baby to feed as well (if solids include anything other than rice, one mouthful takes about 5 min to feed). I think it was a muscle related thing but I'm not sure .... I'll check with my SIL when i see her next ... she also went for therapy, and she's much better now ... very normal kid includes telling fibs :p I'll let you know more once I check with mu SIL.

talking about vacations, I just booked airtickets for my entire family and it's going to be big logistic nightmare, cuz we have about 9 pax travelling together, with another 4 pax travellin to meet us later ...

let just hope we can have fun ... only rthing now is to get the lodgings settled.

Blueroti
We didn't buy DVDs for him but he watches alot of TV..channel 34.

Bunnie
YUP.. I think it's the same! I didn't mentioned that my boy takes 1.5 hours to finish one small bowl of rice with soup and he will spit out meats (unless it is minced till very fine and in very small amount, almost 'cannot feel it' kind). Do let me know how long the therapy takes to work after you checked with your SIL okie...

Kaexin....

SOOOOO CUTEEEEEE! They are all so happy together! Ashlyn is so clever at posing! ahahahaha! Btw...realised that all the kids dun wear the kidsloft tee!

Bunnie...
Ur trip sounds fun! Where are you heading?

Kaexin,

So jealous! Dunno y girls always look so sweet in photos!
If Jayden was in, think it will look weird. Haa..

Dlim: no next time just tell MicK to get Jayden to SIT RT IN THE MIDDLE ./.. flanked by 2 gals on the left and right ... grow up he will proudly show the pics hahaha

Mick: Thanks! Can I get the soft copy please?

Dlim/ Mick? kelley/ Blueroti - are we going to celebrate Teachers Day for Lavina this coming Sat? I forgot about it last weekend - told my hubby to remind me but we all zoomed off to do our own things so we forgot about it.

Cindy: where pretty ladies wear grass skirts = yes "fun" we are now deciding who is going to sleep in the same room and sit next to my mum on the plane :p i vote for my mum to get her own bedroom :p

SD: I remember part of the therapy includes her eating apples - cuz she only takes banana, soft fruit, so she doesn't get to exercise the muscles. so she has to eat apple in place of banana to get her start chewing and exercising the muscle. Let me check with my SIL - wont get to see her this weekend so prob next weekend?

Also one thing, that niece is very accident prone one .. i'm not sure if it's related to the "disorder' but I always see her with cuts and bruises - fall down, etc ...

Bunnie,

I hope Jay can cooperate. U can c he very Bo eng in class.
If really can take a group pict, that will b great!

Coming sat I dun mind.. Provided Jay has recover. He has
been sick since last sat that's y he didn't turn up. I will keep u
inform.. Maybe can buy a cake & celebrate?

Bunnie...wah...so fun!!! Can enjoy sand, water and SHOPPING at the outlets!!! Bring me along!

I may be going away too..but not as exciting as your destination! :p Mine no pretty ladies in grass skirts...only curly hair men blowing the digeridoos!

cindy: haha was considering that also but we going to the grass skirt land to visit my sister ... so it's one big family reunion kinda thingy ... i haven;t told my boss yet so she may just end up killing me ...

kaexin
"Si Ge Xiao Mei Nu"! Sooo long since I seen Ashlyn...she sure has changed alot...must be Kelly teach her pose like that? Kekekeke.

Bunnie
Yes some kids with SDP are not good at balancing and hence, falls down easily...no problem, you can share with me more about your SIL experience if you have the chance to find out more.

Your holidays is next month? Is it still summer there? I thought it will be winter time end of the year...

Dlim
Jay is not the only one who dun pose for photos...generally, I think boys are more "cool" when it comes to photo taking...my boy will use his back to face the camera. :p

wah bunnie,
i am SOOOOO envious! i WANT to go for a holiday too! pack me in your luggage! ; o ) have fun! wah, i m drooling man....

hey mick
thanks! can you send me the soft copy too? we didn't bring our camera that day.

and yeah, agree with SD, ashlyn has changed alot. she's very well behaved in class and matured.

hey SD, did u get my PM?

hi D,
Didn't login after yest. 12pm...didn't know u are unwell.
Hope u are feeling better now.

See u and J next week
happy.gif

Blueroti/bunnie,
will mail u the doftcopy tmr when i am back in thte office. we just got back from polliwogs ! was there fm 10+ until 3pm.

must say, all the kids enjoyed running ard, even the 1year old, she actually crawled from the front area to the steps to climb and then headed towards the slide

Hey bunnie
Btw realised i forgot to reply to your qn on getting lavina something for teacher's day. I am ok with the idea. In fact, i also forgot it is teacher's day today till i saw some parents from the sunday JG class giving presents to the teachers.

SD ,
with regards to jonas . i heard my colleague mentioned before that her nephew also dun speak much . it is sometimes a matter of choice by the toddler . he grew up to be ok n chatty .
sometimes i think maybe what the specialist says , scares us and we tend to think the worst .
dun worry too much , ok ! i am sure he will be fine !
i think my ex-pd over rxts too , she scares me so much that i decided to change her .
hahaha

Bunnie , u so fast out of your maternity leave aredi ????

Caicai
Thanks for the assurance...actually, we are also kinda skeptical over what the therapists say..but anyway, we will let Jonas do a few sessions see how first (coz this mummy not so comfortable with still not doing anything about her dear boy's slow speech development)...but we definitely can't survive the specialists' high fees in the long run! Was thinking maybe just try to grasp what the therapist do during the session as much as possible and then stop after a few times and do it ourselves with Jonas at home... :p

SpringD,

I did tell you before that I have a nephew who refused to speak until he was 4 years old (10 yrs younger than me, so I remember very clearly), right? He could understand (English, Cantonese, Tamil and Malay) just fine but refused to say a word. I guess cos he's the youngest of 5 children, my auntie didn't worry...when he did talk...well...he's still talking.

Do what you think is the best for Jonas and what will help you sleep at night.

SW,
tks for posting abt d clubmed promo. last min, hb went down to tourism court and booked a clubmed bintan hoilday. we ar gg in dec since is ash sch holidays. i m lookg forward to it. din noe it costs so much for ash compared to cher. af 4yrs old, is a different rate.
i hope d ferry ride is not too bad as i hv very bad sea sick experience. i wld pop motion sickness pill this time. i heard d boat ride in dec/yr end season is quite rough. hope d kids can take it well..

Dee
Yup thanks for sharing about your nephew...am really glad that you shared so that I know there are late talkers around.
happy.gif

Guess I tend to think more since my focus is now only on ONE child unlike your auntie. Anyway, am using a 'try awhile & see how first' attitude for the time being...will not be overly worried at this point of time and certainly not planning to make big "investments" with unsure returns. :p

SpringD,

sure. Like I said, just do what you feel comfortable with lor... eventually when he talks you wouldn't really know if it's therapy or just "his right time".

It's the same attitude I take for Jesse's development in general...
happy.gif

Mummies who are interested in Little Neuro Tree,
Did any of u take up the promotion of the 44% discount at Bugis in the end
