Pax: I won't purposely make an appt for that. I know we;ll soon be knocking on his door.. Will ask him abt it then..

Astro: I skipped those articles. I heard abt the controversy surrounding this. My take? Everything in moderation.

Dr Ong check ears, eyes, muscle tones, genitals (both boys and girls), physical development like sitting etc... more detailed?
 
pax: does she give a development assessment when requested ah (not relying on previous info already recorded in health booklet)? as in detailed kind. maybe give blocks to hold.. ?
 
Pax: That's part of the assessment? Then yes leh. He does it with anna most times we go see him. He's the one who gives anna lots of infacol when she's younger cos her belly button was slightly bulging. It's called hernia or something according to him an he said it's caused by wind in her tummy. And he does check her ears, eyes and tongue and esp her breathing each time.

Astro: After Pax's description on assessment, I would classify Dr Low as the observer type. So not to worry if he said Teng is ok. Am sure he'll let you know if otherwise.
 
bbgirl: ya. but Dr Low doesn't give extra help as in how to encourage teng to sit up/pull to stand... he told me to just let him cry.. wah.. another CIO?

shaking head is a milestone... it may not mean anythg... nodding head takes a much longer while.

jus saw ur post "Dr Low doesn't give extra help as in how to ....." Dr Ong does.. she will give u tips.. another plus push pt 4 u to go c Dr Ong... wahahaha..

jus my usual soup stock.. pork with red dates and wolfberries. my base for porridge (for both M&Jo) and noodles (for M)... maybe i'll try alphabet pasta this week... hmmm...
 
pax: really?? good good :p i thought he got pressure in the head.. from possible teething.. that's why keep shaking.. haha.. again.. asked dr low. nvr commented anyhing.. then i asked the nurses ok.. they replied. "if bb shake themselves ok.. parents dun go shake them.. " ehh.. i know lah :p then hor. another complaints. if i blur blur parents. dunno nasal drops cannot giv emore than 5 days. no indication or special labels.. die liao lor.. sure coniture give teng till i happy one

ok.. u dun need to push liao.. I AM GOING TO SEE ON TUE!!! :p
 
PAX: then i still keep nodding to him.. tell him cannot be so negative. if i ask him if i pretty or not. must nod.. not shake.. :p:p hahaa.. so funny..

Teng : *shake head*

T: * see liao.. shake harder.. laugh*

Astro: There was a time when my nephew kept shaking his head too. When we thought back, the reason was becos he thought it was funny. Cos the first time he did it, we all laughed at him!
Is it like that with Teng?

Which reminds me.. Just now anna sucked in both her cheeks (ie some say the goldfish face) and we laughed. I hope she doesn't think this is amusing (it was just now!) and keeps doing it.
 
Astro: I typed my post before yours appears.. See lah.. Same reason as for my nephew.. If you don't want him to keep shaking his head, don't laugh (no matter how funny) next time he does it. Give him a stern look.
 
bbgirl: not really.. sometimes when he had enough.. he shakes his head also.. then refused to eat liao.. so i was wondering if he really understood what he was doing.. but definitely.. if i shake my head in front of him (as in i try to blow at the food on the spoon, the movement).. he def will imitate.. that i am quite sure.. as in laugh at him.. dun really laugh at him.. laugh with him more likely :p he laughed and smiled.. we will join in also..
 
bbgirl: not too sure abt teng shaking head because he is getting the approval from us.. that's why i asked pax if it is considered a gesture.. coz quite frequently.. he will shake his head.. if full.. so gray area here..
 
bbgirl: how old is ur nephew? coz for teng's age.. he should be learning to use gestures (Shaking head no is one) to communicate his thoughts..
 
Astro: Same thing with my nephew. He shook his head when he didn't want to eat anymore, shook his head when playing, shook his head and made funny faces at the same time etc..

the medicated nasal drops give 5 days, stop 2 days or switch to another type. only 2 types for bb. Otrivin and Idliam (sp). u can also get normal saline eye drops as nose drops (that's why Dr Ong gives us). this one can use as many times as u like. but the streimar spray is the best.
 
Astro: He's just passed his 1st birthday 2 weeks ago.. I'm thinking how long ago was it he started doing that.. Let me see.. Could be abt 3mths ago bhah.. He doesn't do it now.. In factm when he doesn't want to eat anymore, he screams more than shakes his head..

PAx: eye drops can be used as nose drops ah? wah.. cool .. one medicine dual function.. Dr Ong helps to save $$$ also ah?! :p think will go get streimar spray.. seems good..

pax: then the 'rotation' of the wrists? coz teng will sometimes rotate his wrist.. and place the back of his hands on the floor.. then give him egg shakers.. he will wave left to right in addition to up and down.. not only bang the eggshakers. but will also scatch it (holding on both. scratch one against another..)... asking all these. coz i find all these behaviours very interesting to watch..
 
PAx: but serously. how come Jo's look.. very exotic.. and ang mo looking. could be her eyes.. pheonix eyes :p.. stands out from ur family

not sure abt making funny faces.. some of these stuff r not black and white... i chit chat with other mommies and learn that every kid seems to go thru the shaking-head-syndrome. . kind of a milestone of some sort...

the things i ask teng hor.. share with u again.. one day i saw him scratching his egg shakers with great concentration.. very very serious look. then i asked him.. "u scatching for gold? got gold in the eggs ah?" he looked up, smiled.. and yeap.. shake head again! that's why i told bbgirl. i seriously dun mind shaking of the head.. hahahaa :p

nope. not my real name. pax means peace in latin. it was a name we used for a little micromouse during my Sec Sch yrs.. i love the name and got stuck with it since then...

sometime seriously buay tahan this boy. u hold on to him.he will want to step onto the platform.. then with us still restraining him. he will extend his foot to kick at a toy which spins (happens to his foot level)..body already at 45 degree liao leh... u see liao.. very amusing. sometimes i want to release my hold ah.. then he fall liao *sinster laugh*

then sometimes.. he will stoop down to pick a toy.. then i will kick further away from him.. then he will grunt.. then hurry lead me to find the toy some distance away.. then i kicked it away.. he grunts.. as the cycles goes on.. haha. dunno who torture who hor? :p

huh... hernia? do u noe hernia means the intestine drop? my fren's son (3yrold now) having this prob... 28 nov going for ultrascan... hopefully no need surgery... it says the intestine drop, and the balls look swollen... onli lying down position wont have this prob... dr tried pushing it back... but cant help it... just hopefully it will go back to place... if not, have to go thru surgery to tie it back to place... please check again with ur pd... it will be quite serious if not heal early... will cause difficulty in urinating and digestion...
