i hav 2 frens who had natural without epidural.. both told me pain until want to die.. but both managed to persist all the way lor.. think it depends on individual bah.. one of them almost gave up.. she din wait until 10cm dilation.. she had assisted delivery at 9.5cm dilation with vacuum suction.

for me, i hoping to deliver without epidural.. but will leave the option open.. depends on my pain tolerance.. if i'm taking it well, will all the way without epidural lor.. if i can't cope even with the contraction at the beginning, will opt for epidural lor..

else later no energy to push..

I think will need alot of courage to endure it, both ur gals take 10+hours most likely this one will b the same....

Im worry if I end up crying for epi,will waste all my effort to tahan for so many hour b4 that leh. anyway tks for sharing, still very confuse, to endure the pain now or to endure the side effect later..sigh...

I delivered my no.1 naturally without epi. Mmh, the pain for me is bearable, its like menses cramp but to the more extreme type. The gas that i breathe (i think is nitrogen gas) in actually helps for me.

Ya lor, that's the problem with having another kid. I was telling my hb, if I will to take ML 2 weeks early or happen to have MC for next week, I can't rest also, cos my 2 gals will sure to stick to me and it's unfair if I still ask my mum to look after for me while I'm on leave. During the 1st or 2nd trimester when I experienced spotting, I was given 3 days MC, then my hb still continues to bring the gals to my mum place, gosh I was missing them so much at home and feel so bad to leave them at my mum's place while I'm home alone.....

I'm also afraid so, but then hor, I don't find it a waste if I utimately still uses the epi (which I don't think I will) cos at least I've tried b4 and able to convince myself that I've tried but not successful, rather than now, my mum keep nagging at me, if u nvr try how u know u can't endure.... ;p

i oso admire their courage..

fr my antenatal course, the midwife told us tt the laughing gas is actually very gd in numbing the pain if we use it correctly.. so i hope i rem the correct breathing method n use the laughing gas effectively.. den hopefully dun need epidural lor..

how u managed to LUN thruout the 1st delivery w/o epi?? i heard the gas my sis frd use liao also no use leh. Also very pain wor..

ya lor, I regretted for not trying for no.2. No.1 I did try but cos induce and it takes longer mah, I did try not to use at all, but utimately still give up, cos too long liao, my hb saw me cry so he also ask me to take epi.... then no.2 the adminster of the epi was very painful, so better not try again this time round...

I bought the braun thermometer but cant remember the model no. Only remember it come in blue box (with 8 memory)and cost $129 (without dis) and saw another in pink box (with 1 memory) cost $119.

I've heard also, especially when I read up a book called Hypnobirthing....inside mentioned that the pain comes from our fear, so the more we fear, the lower our threshold of pain, hence if we believe that contractions are painless and willing to face it, it's actually painless....
Ya lor, been having it.... few times a day, but today quite often, but not 1 hour a few times lah, once in a while have the contraction....scare leh, cos 3rd birth dunno will be early or not, cos womb weak liao, cannot hold bb for too long...then yesterday my no.2 climb on me and press her body weight on my tummy, I was like so shocked and got angry with her....

Nomatter what we choose it will still b painful hor, i think not worth to take epi, for the pain for adminster it,$$ , side effect and useless feeling after that.

Read from not sure Oct or Nov mtbs say that she actually remain calm by closing her eye without screaming while enduring the great pain...hope i can do that..if not sure v tiu lian, screaming and crying.aiyo..

ya, u got to remain calm and use the correct breathing method. I'm not sure if it helps, when u close ur eyes, imagine u r on a beach or somewhere beautiful and relax, best if u can play some soothing music to help u relax, then breath in deeply and slowly. By relaxing, ur uterus will not feel the stress and won't be so painful liao. I'm not sure if it works, this is a summarize portion from what I've read from the Hypnobirthing book.

how many packet of pads shd we get ready? average will soak 1 pad in how many hours? i onli got 1 packet of maternity pad and 2 packets of sofy 35cm on standby..

btw, usually for bb on TBF, how frequent will they urinate? need to estimate how many nappies i will be using.. else later no enough i will panick.. heee~ den need to source for cheap nappy liners too..

I have a CD that i play every night for BB to listen....Intent to bring it along during labour so that BB wont be so stress and hope it help me to relax as well

The 1st few days, the flow very heavy (for me previously) so the maternity pad helps alot. But after about a week or so, i start to use normal pad liao.

feire, I believe the pain differs across different parties. Some people have a higher threshold and some lower.

I just spoke to gyane this morning, she mention that normally the mid-wives will give us a jab on the tight 1st. Gas will normally be given during last 2hrs of labour. Otherwise we will be in another world (high) and cannot push liao.

take a good rest, take lots of water n eat some vitamin c. dun let the fever continue, not good for bb.

according to ent doc, nosebleeds r common during pregnancy due to hormone changes like vanessa said. all our blood vessels expand during pregnancy, so any small thing will cause nose bleed. but the nosebleeds cannot be too regular. if it's too regular, hv to check if there r tumours, cos some preggies develop tumours in the nose v. quickly during pregnancy.

if u find that u hv problems straightening ur right leg (i.e. need to curl up all the time), there's a good chance it is appendicitis. now we r pregnant, v. difficult for docs to detect appendicitis, so remember to monitor urself. dun go to work if u dun feel well leh.

it's antibiotics. specifically augmentin, one of the safest antibiotics around for preggies. antibiotics always hv those side effects - increased gastric juices, messing up the flora n fauna of our intestinal n vaginal tracts. but during last trimester of pregnancy, our hormones already cause us to hv more gastric juices, looser gastric muscles n weird flora n fauna, so antibiotics makes things even worse.

according to my antenatal class, sometimes a change of scenery may help during labour. get up, walk around, take a hot shower to forget the pain.

ladies,
i drank coconut juice on sunday. that very night, i had a bh contraction. can tell it's bh, cos the muscles at the top of the tummy suddenly contract n only release after 10 sec. think this coconut juice is quite potent for me.

my friend who just gave birth said his wife had gas first, b4 injection was offered. anyway, i opted out of the injection, cos at nuh, the drug given in the injection is a narcotics. narcotics go into bb's blood n bb might need another drug to clear the narcotics after birth.

i doubt i wan any injection or gas.
juz epi if cannot tahan coz no point having the buffet spread.

me already very very nervous when i had LA for wisdom teeth operation.. dunnoe how i can survive the nervous attack if i hav to go thru emergency c-sec with epidural...

think u should check with ur gynae. different hospitals may administer different drugs in the injection. mt e might not use narcotics in the injection.
