(2006/07) JULY 2006 MTB

Morning,

Peach,
I can understand how u feel. However, i reall vent my anger in my blog. I dun care of my BIL or my hubby read that. Infact, i want them to read it. It is really "heng ni zhe xin kou na kai", hopefully they can read my blog and understand how i feel.

cream cracker - i think i am very lax. I let Julian has it when my MIL feed him.

Pooh,
i am going to collect the elf this evening. U want me to post the items to u. Can u PM me ur address?

More help needed moms,

I'm BF Summer still and I did exactly what my PD told me to pump out and bottle feed her when she was 3 months. She took the bottle fine. I stopped pumping after few months of bottle trying as not much milk to pump. I latched on directly. And now she hasn't been putting on weight and my PD suggested to suppliment abit of formula. I've been trying to feed her formula but once she tasted it, she pushed it away then refused to take it. Now am having headache as what if I stopped BF her which will be in a couple of months!!! Help!!!

eeyore, no la. not unreasonable. it's good that u r firm. i mean, if u say cannot feed then u let hubby feed also show like u're giving in n let them walk all over u (like ME!.. i always kena walk all over one when it comes to this, only know how to grumble dunno how to put my foot down!)

hong, i already wrote the whole letter out to kristen liao. post already, but ask hubby cos i feel bad also la, then hubby say not nice.. so okay lor. i juz put it in private post. cream cracker they didn't break it for her, they just gave her the whole biscuit.

double-standards - i think it's ok for double-standards.. cos if bb fall sick or get choke rite. who is going to be the one having to take care of the bb or who is the one whose heart is going to hurt the most if something goes wrong? the mummy mah! all these relatives juz wanna have fun with feeding the bb, but when bb get allergy or fall sick or get choke, it's not their problem.

Coins - My hubby says I very bad, coz each time i order delivery, I wil give them all my coins, no matter how much! but then, there's still 3 (milk powder tins) full of coins..Now broke liao, must think of a method to use those coins..

My coffeeshop downstairs dont want to exchange.

peach, btw, before n after haircut not much different leh... fringe still abt the same length moreover I dun think her fringe is long, still above eyebrow wat... it's not poking the eye...

I find it rather funny, ppl keep asking "r u gg to let her hv long hair" but here n there keep telling u " oh, her hair is long already hoh, can cut..." hmmm, u r like what shld i do, to cut or ...

Lena,

I'm not sure if this helps, but you can mix some of the EBM with the formula milk and then gradually increase the proportion of formula milk as Summer gets used to the taste? We used this method to change Arin from Step 1 to Step 2 milk powder but donno if it will work for you though.

re: other pple feeding our babies

I also wan to complain!! What's d thing with all these pple who likes to feed babies all sorts food! Just look at how enthusiastic they are coaxing our babies telling them how yummy d black forest cake/fried stuff/sprite are. They just love to be entertained n find it so amusing when our babies show different expressions after tasting d food.

Can't blame us if we have double standards cos smetimes really 'BUAY SONG' that other pple get a kick out of it WITHOUT seeking permission from d parents first. In this case im even more MAD cos im d main n only caregiver, what if my ger falls sick after u feed her all d junk?? Who's gonna suffer? "My ger n me ok!! Somemore can say loud loud "Your mummy hor, everything also dun let u eat!" ARRRGGGG!!!

peach,
for me, MIL take care. SO if Julian fall sick. Her Faults so she has to take care. hahaha..

why not u write in the way that u express ur feeling as 3rd party. U know wat i mean? Dun have to pin point anyone.

Eeyore,
u reply them, I will pin it up.
My MIL use to nag n nag abt Janelle fringe. OK for fringe i give in. However, i want her to keep her hair long now. SO no matter wat my mum or MIL said i will ignore. I just replied them, i want to keep her hair long.
Pooh, yah going this sat. Ok i bring along.

eeyore, they juz cut the fringe lor. wahlau. my mum n i painstakingly brought her to junior league to get kristen a fringe that looks a little more stylo (not those all the way straight like use a bowl for a template), then now it's back to square one. haha.. think must bring to hairdresser again to get her less "cleopatra" fringe. hahaa. :p

OC - i feel u. dunno which is worse, "dont seek permission" or "pretend to seek permission, n dun care if parents say no". hahaa.. and ya, that's a fave phrase among other pple "your mummy dun let u eat!"

Just went for my photo shoot wif Foto U...below is one of the pic to share :p...

hong - i think i wrote quite...nicely bah, i think very hard about what to write leh. hahaa.. but for hubby's sake.. dun post lor. juz keep for myself.

share with u mummies!

At Lau-Kim's house, you got to eat McVities Digestive Biscuits for the first time... despite Mummy & Daddy's protests that you should not be fed something that contains sugar and has risks of choking since it breaks off in big chunks and does not disintegrate immediately. Sigh. You liked it anyway. Thankfully the huger chunks fell out of your mouth and not into your throat. As for the cream crackers you were offered later, that's a definite no-no until you're much bigger. The crispy outer layer of the biscuit got trapped in your mouth. Mummy did not notice at first until you started crying and Mummy had to pluck out the long piece from inside your mouth.

Half the time I was panicking if you were going to get choke and horrible scenes were being played all over my mind. After all, if anything goes wrong, who's the one who suffers the most? Ya, and why else is Mummy so worried about feeding you highly allergenic foods? Well, because Daddy suffered from childhood asthma, and apparently your Lau-Ma is an asthma-sufferer too. So... it does not hurt to be extra careful when feeding you food. Why risk triggering a life-time of not being able to eat something just to have a bite now?

Food Allergy:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_allergy

Big 8 as according to Wikipedia:

* Milk allergy
* Egg allergy
* Peanut allergy
* Tree nut allergy
* Seafood allergy
* Shellfish allergy
* Soy allergy
* Wheat allergy

Oh well. This is one of the common topics up for discussion at the Mummy-forum. Everyone else think that your parents are the evil ones depriving you of all the yummy food. Ya, and your parents are the ones who always get blamed, "It's not me who is not letting you eat, your Mummy said no, not me". Well, we're the bad guys so long as nothing happens and well, it is worth being the bad guy. But if you do develop an allergy, to say, nuts, and forever don't get to enjoy chocolates normally just because you eat something that contains nuts and your immune system is not ready for such complex proteins yet... Then. We're still the bad guys for letting you have the nuts.

Hi mummies

OC,Peach,
Exactly those same words..Your mummy hor,everything dun let you eat. and somemore say: YOU SO KOR LIAN.. my MIL wanted give Gladys watermelon. Last wk, without my knowing someone gave buns with filling(red bean) and guess what, RASHES!!!!

Lena, CHM,
Just wanna add that usually we don encourage the mixing of EBM and FM. Only FM and FM. The FM taste will overpower the EBM coz the taste of EBM is quite mild though v sweet...(Heh heh, try before) Maybe you can replace one feed gradually with FM and express out that feed. Try to dilute the FM (only slightly coz if not have to feed twice) becoz FM is v thick as compared to EBM. HEnce, bb not used to it.Later on then mix with right consistency. For me, I still latch direct on. Never express out already. Once a day, I give her a bottle of dilute FM to remind her of that taste.ON the other hand, maybe you are not latching her long enuf on each side so she drank only the foremilk(water content) and not the hind milk.Henc not putting on the weight... Hope this helps.

peach - i totally understand how you feel. Sometimes when I bring Max to my ILs place, they will try to feed him with funny stuff or carry him and walk up and down the whole day!!!

When is meal time, I will ask them to put Max in the high chair so he can eat his biscuits...they will then say no lah...carry, so poor thing, sit in the chair alone *#@!

But of course the good thing is - we only meet once a month or less....haaaaa

Eh... i keep saying i broke, but rest assured yr Bash $ is in good hands! Kill me I also dun have the courage to touch the $. I scare u all come my house and hang pig head. Haha.

Peach,
Sayang..If we be ever so polite to listen and never mind to the relatives, yup , our kids suffer. Remember Clara,my girl,she has been on the inhalor for 2 yrs, have chronic ezcema(btw, once get eczema is for life),allergic to many many fds... why.....secretly in my heart, i partly blame my MIL , fed her prawn at 4 mths... and so many other things. Asthmatic and eczema kids are not easy to take care , not to mention the cost in investing in skin care and also food care...
The bottom line,be firm, even to older folks, they will get it that we are not "play-play". For me, they say, i got no respect to them when I firm, but no choice somethimes, when you know the risk is involved and us being the more well-informed.I will say to them with very WIDE EYES," A LITTLE BIT ALSO CANNOT!!" Then I'll continue, It is not whether you give a little or a lot, it is WHAT you give..." GRIN... maybe they will understnad someday...

Good Morning,

"Happy Belated Mother Day" to all Mummies!!

About feeding baby foods~

When i was 1st time mummy, I think I was very particular n restricted about foods to feed to my girl. But being a 2nd time mummy, I simply bo chap liao. Will let my boy try different foods...but of course a bit bit only la :p hee

I hardly vent my anger in my family blog...but i will do tat in my personal blog cos i want my hubby to read it.. (>.<)

I agree with kin. We are responsible for our own baby. We are the only voices that can help our baby. I would not tolerate anything that will harm my baby, even to the extend of offending that particular old folk. cos they are not the one affected. We lead our own life, my baby are not going to suffer under their irresponsible act.

As a concerning mum, we have to protect our litlle love one. only we can protest for them. If theya re angry, is only for a while. if affect our baby health, it is forever. Do you think they will take responsible. even if they do, what can they do to reverse?

Not to say anything, if the poor kid got choke and have a reverse impact on them on food. who will pity us?

sigh... why those old folk like to act "expert"... my MIL and my mumalso like tat.. lucky my mum can take my word when i say no.

peach,
i think that posting is very mild. So u didnt post it at all. Why not? That is how u feel right. U shld have the right to voice out how u feel. Infact, i dun find ur posting offensive at all. For whoever she read ur posting and feel offensive that he/she admit she/he did something not wrong. They shld feel gulity and not angry.

kin, yah, actually kristen already has eczema now. =/ juz hoping nothing else will develop.

lena, maybe keep trying but maybe once a day n when she's really hungry (but not until wailing la)? i remember my girl at first had difficulties accepting formula as well. think juz too used to bm.

noif, ya har.. maybe it's the 1st time mummy syndrome :p

hong, dun wan to offend lor. anyway, juz next time be more firm n pluck kristen away from their hands if they're trying anything funny lor. wahlau.. i read all ur posts ah. i seriously machiam weak-mummy like that.

peach,
dun say that. U are more sensible than me. Eventhot i wrote so much but i dun know if my hubby really read.

Poohy,
oh yah.. ok.
I still dun know the exchange rate yet. U IB me later lor. Unless u tell me u are going to run away with the stuffs without paying me and i am not going to find u then i DEMAND the $$ from u on Sunday. hahaha..

I just remembered one incident. There was once some auntie trying to feed E at 4mths. Then I said no and aunty ask why, so i told her I read book n internet articles they say cannot to prevent allergy.

Guess wat she said, bu yao yi wei ni shu du de dui.. we take care of kids more experience than u. Last time who n who also like that, see now, he's so strong n healthy. Aunty know lah, now nian qing ren like to use books and doctors to scare us, but that all nonsense, they just want to earn yr $.

!@#!#$%

Hi Peach,

I actually think Kristen looks very sweet in her hairdo. :)) I am quite firmed when it comes to feeding bb with adult food. When at restaurants, my family would sggest giving bb toufu or potatoes..I would say 'no' firmly and any other suggestions..i would pretend never hear..Hehhehe

Mezzo,

Ashley looks really lovely!! I want to go for Photoshoot too!

Any mummies here used Mum's kitchen before? I saw their menu and looks yummy!

aiyoh... those "experienced" aunties sometimes really buay tahan them.

yes, fully agree tat experienced counts alot alot alot.... but sometimes ignorance also becos too confident.

i once retorted my auntie about putting honey in water. I told her last time u dunno, so it's ok, no one will blame u for anything too. last time no internet etc, so if some baby in another town died becos of this honey water you dont noe becos it was not "publicised" then... but now tat i know abt it, of cos, i will follow... if not, if my baby is the 1% chance of kenna, then who will give me my baby back.

then she just hmmm hmmm... but guess scolding me in her heart lah! haha

HI PM,

Tks! Did u try the mee siam or laksa whch is supposed to be very popular? At least now I'm narrowing down on my choice for caterer :)

Hong,

Hee...ya rite, i going to run far....far away le..
Pls pardon me for being so "luo shuo" on the payment part cos i dun like to owe ppl $$ in case i forget to pay mah..i old liao, so tend to b quite forgetful le..

PM,
Haha i 'sounded' very angry right? I am, cos like what peach said abt herself, i oso dun dare to say no sometimes, so im angry at myself too for not having d guts to voice out...moreover dat night's dinner was to celebrate mother's day so all d more so dun wan to clash with d empress dowager...haiz

Feeding : )
Haiz...i caug my mum feeding braised duck & steamfish to my gal on sat when we are having our dinner..i told her "NO" n explained thous times liao!..but she keep say abit nevermind if not she will cry! Really dont noe behind my back wat did she eat as she is V caretaker!...really give up...!

OC,

yeah i get that phrase v frequently "mummy dun let u eat the yummy food, so ke lian" then i will retort saying "its for your own gd darling, wait u sick, who is going to take care of you? If u develop allergies or if anything happens, who is going to give mummy back her PRECIOUS daughter?" then those pple will keep quiet lor. i pretend i talk to my daughter but indirectly telling them off! i dun care if i offend empress dowager or the emperor but as long as it concerns my daughter's health, nothing can be compromised!

They also mention like, last time feed who n who this but u all grow up so big n strong, then i will tell them times changed already! Kids nowadays are different from the kids of the past. then i say Doc say cannot eat this n that yet.

Sigh... y they all just wanna have fun n see the responses of our bbs but if anything happens, they will say its not their fault lor. they probably say how would they know ur child will react like that. How come ur mummy nvr tell me. so in the end its still mummy's fault lor. I'd rather be the bad person than jeopardize my child's health.

MDTD,

ha ha ha..brillant response to those aunties man.

me lucky that my sister was waaaay more fierce when she had her kid so the whole world had already been scolded for trying to feed stuff to my niece...so they all remember and don't dare to try funny things with Arin

last night my mil oso, she ask my hb to buy cake for mother's day, after the cake was cake then my mil ask if char can eat, i told her no, u know what's her reply, she said "a little bit nvr mind one lar". I replied back cake use egg white as ingredient and bb less than a year can't have egg white, then she keep quiet... then my sil was like telling cahr "Oh mummy say cannot eat..."

OC, i know how u feel. sometimes feel like kicking myself for not being fierce enough. ha.. then at the end of the day. i feel so angry at myself. go kuku already!

CHM haha. ur sis do all the 'hardwork' for u already.

oohh.. speaking of mother's day ... how u all celebrate ur mother's day yesterday? =)
