At Lau-Kim's house, you got to eat McVities Digestive Biscuits for the first time... despite Mummy & Daddy's protests that you should not be fed something that contains sugar and has risks of choking since it breaks off in big chunks and does not disintegrate immediately. Sigh. You liked it anyway. Thankfully the huger chunks fell out of your mouth and not into your throat. As for the cream crackers you were offered later, that's a definite no-no until you're much bigger. The crispy outer layer of the biscuit got trapped in your mouth. Mummy did not notice at first until you started crying and Mummy had to pluck out the long piece from inside your mouth.
Half the time I was panicking if you were going to get choke and horrible scenes were being played all over my mind. After all, if anything goes wrong, who's the one who suffers the most? Ya, and why else is Mummy so worried about feeding you highly allergenic foods? Well, because Daddy suffered from childhood asthma, and apparently your Lau-Ma is an asthma-sufferer too. So... it does not hurt to be extra careful when feeding you food. Why risk triggering a life-time of not being able to eat something just to have a bite now?

Oh well. This is one of the common topics up for discussion at the Mummy-forum. Everyone else think that your parents are the evil ones depriving you of all the yummy food. Ya, and your parents are the ones who always get blamed, "It's not me who is not letting you eat, your Mummy said no, not me". Well, we're the bad guys so long as nothing happens and well, it is worth being the bad guy. But if you do develop an allergy, to say, nuts, and forever don't get to enjoy chocolates normally just because you eat something that contains nuts and your immune system is not ready for such complex proteins yet... Then. We're still the bad guys for letting you have the nuts.
