Lactation consultant advised that baby after 6 weeks old should not wear mittens liao coz will prohibit them from learning to count. Not sure true or not ... but me follow loh ...

baby flipping - my baby hasn't show signs of flipping leh *sigh*
 
my baby oso starting to drool and oso sucking his hands. he is not wearing mittens anymore so got to cut his fingernails regularly to prevent him from scratching himself.

As for helper, I employed a maid for my mum as she is taking care of my bb from monday to friday. I'm a 'weekend' mother.

my son is very naughty, refused to take milk. once put teats into his mouth, he starts to make fuss and dun wan to drink. can only feed him when he is sleeping, then he will drink. anyone having this prob?
 
wow.. why all ur babies seem to develop so fast.

i also want to take out his mittens, but he scratch his face and poke his eyes. do ur babies rub their eyes and face when they are trying to fall asleep?? he does this and quite vigorously too.
also what do you all do when they keep sucking their fists? is it ok for them to suck and grow out of it? my fil say cannot let him suck if not fingers will rot.

my BB do suck fingers.. sometime the whole hand.
If hands..i let him have it . Fingers is a NO NO.. I saw some kids finger nail never grow is all due to sucking.. the finger look rot also.

my girl also likes to rub her eyes and scratch her face, me afraid of her poking her eyes as well.

heard it's no good for bb to suck thumb coz will affect gum.

my boy recently discovered his fingers and thumb too. Suck so hard till got sound...quite funny..haha.

I leave his hands free in the day when i am around. In the night, we swaddle him to sleep so he can't access his hands at all.
 
mitten - normally will not let bb wear after full month. cos bbies are learning to grab things. its is all abt their motor skill.

try not to let bb suck their thumbs or fingers. if they get used to it then u will have hard time weaning it off.

u can throw away pacifer but not their fingers.

I just try to keep my baby's finger nails short. If she rub her eyes, then move her hands away.

Charisse loves to suck her fist instead of fingers, the way she sucks like her fist is super sweet

i just dont let her wear lor. she sucks the fist, very loudly. also will scratch face but i don't mind coz can heal in one day. i find that they progress much faster on their motor skills without mittens.cut nails often too...

dunno how . i read that some mummies have bbs who cut their first tooth at 3 mths. so headache man.....

doc discharged her immediately once he saw d cut there n said will heal by itself lor, maybe she strains too hard during poo poo time

i realised my bb still can scratch her face even after i cut her nails. so are we suppose to file their nails as well?

my bb has been gaining 1 kg per month on average. however all d nurses n docs at kkh were shocked dat she drinks so much...120ml every 3 hrly, sometimes more. they said for her age shld be around 90 ml every 3 hrly leh

i was wondering if its bcos i changed her teats from 0M to 1M (Avent) too early so she drinks very fast then when finish liao she buay shiok. btw my bb is d kind who likes to suckle n suckle but dun like pacifier...headache ah

d ward at kkh using pigeon teat 0-3M n my bb took double d time to finish her milk n a few times she bek chek cos too slow so didnt finish some more

My girl is drinking 110ml at week 9. She is now 5kg. Think 120ml every 3hrly is okie lah. My girl is also very bek chek when the milk flow is slow, will keep crying.

oic...then when do we know it's time to increase their feed? so u changed d teat or continue to use d same one?

me veri stress cos bb always cranky at nite from evening onwards. after feed she wont sleep nor will she kuai kuai lie there alone, carry her she also cry dunno wat she wants. in d end kept feeding her every 1.5 to 2 hrly until 12+ midnite then she finally sleep.

my bb was like yours. then we started shifting his bedtime earlier. Now ard 6.30pm to 7pm. Then we put him down in his crib and pat him when he cries. May cry and wail at the beginning. But just stay with him and pat him. No eye contact then he will fall asleep after a while. we did that for a week and yest he fell asleep on his own. dun need patting and not even a whimper!

depends on your views abt letting bb cry without picking them up tho...

I will only increase the milk amount when she seems unsatisfied after feeding for a period of time and the time interval of feeding gets shorter and shorter. Will increase very slowly like 5ml.
During her 1st month, I was using the NUK Latex teak. After that, change to silicon teat. Still using the same. Don't think will change coz afraid she will get chocked.

Usually my girl will zz when we switch off the light. She knows that it's time to sleep. She will be cranky only when she has blocked nose. Sometimes crying doesn't equate to hungry. If she cries before the 2.5 to 3 hours, we will feed her with water and many times, she will be okie. Maybe you can do the same. Not sure my method works for your baby as I am still learning.

dats wats happening to my bb now...seems unsatisfied after feed n time interval gettin shorter...plus i forgot to add earlier dat sometimes i latch her on for half hr to 45 mins before giving her 120ml FM leh, so in actual fact she is drinking more than 120ml.

ya if your gal still ok with current teat then better dun change if not like mine drink so fast then get choked often. im thinking of changing back her teats liao

wah so good your gal auto zzz when lights off ah? mine wont leh...ya i agree crying doesn't equate hunger but i jus cant find any other ways to pacify her, worst still she dun like to drink water so if feed her water she gets more agitated...sigh...

My gal used to have the same problem as ur bb...She'll cry non-stop from 9pm onwards till 12midnight. Then we suspect she got colic & gave her infacol. Now she's okay already. She'll sleep by 10.30pm now.

may i know how heavy was ur bb when she was born?

mine was 2.9 at birth, wk 8-5kg.

dun understand how ur bb can be feeding too much? cos mine drinks 90ml every 3 hrly now.

my bb suddenly dun wan to drink milk. used to take 120ml every 3hrly. now he is drinking ard 100ml evry 4/5 hrly and always make a big fuss, using tongue to push out the teats and turning his heading side to side when drinking milk. so take ard 1 hr or more to finish one feed. sigh...dun know wats wrong. sian...

my bb used to take abt 1 hr to finish his feed of 90ml too. in btw must rest and bring him walk ard the hse somemore. my pd said babies wt gain 3 mnth onwards will slow down. do u think that's the reason the milk intake decreases? but our babies havn't 3 mnths lei.

yes d docs say for her weight n age shld be 90ml 3 hrly if not 120ml 4 hrly. i gave birth to her at 37 weeks,she was 2.6kg, week 9 at 4.6 kg so abt 1 kg per mth which is normal.

my bb though small size but really big eater leh, n she only takes 5 to 10 mins for every feed, very fast, then sometimes like still want some more.

My gal nw 9 week old also taking 120ml of ebm at 3 hr interval ley. Sometimes even more ard 150 ml but will b 4 hour interval. Is that too much ? I tut it's pretty normal, isnt it ?
 
OC, my bb was like that.. especially during the last few hrs before sleep. then i started to increase his feed, from 120 to 150ml, and he finish it all..and managed to sleep thru the night. however, these days i suspect the feed is still not enuf. trying to monitor and might increase his feed further,cos only wif a full stomach then he can sleep well.however for now sometimes he sleep thru the night sometimes not.. i suggest you to slowly increase ur bb's feed amt, and monitor from there.
 
hi jurong gal, personally i feel as long as bb is drinking milk, there's no need to worry abt giving too much. my boy at week 8 is drinking 150ml at 3hr interval too, its even more then yours. and his pd just mentioned his weight is suppose to be a 3 mth! he nv say like must reduce feedo or wat, so i guess nothign to feel alarm. dun worry

forgot to mention too that my bb's crankiest time was when he was down with colic...can drag 4 to 5 hrs...then PD gave him dentinox. then slowly ok already. Helps to massage the bb's tummy after his bath, in a clockwise movement, pushes air out.

these past 2 days, my bb boy makes a lot of noise while drinking milk. it's not cos he wants to poo or feels warm. tried walking him around while drinking and he calms down! weird! anyone experiencing this huh?
 
1 question here ... i just have a c section abt 1 month ago , and this few days , i happen to find that i have menses already , and the problem is , since giving birth till now , the blood just keep coming and didnt stop , and last few days suddenly lot of blood that look like menses , is it possible that , the dirty blood in me have not clear , and after birth 1 month , the menses just come ?

u breastfeeding? as far as i know, breastfeeding mummies usually dun see menses so soon. hv u been back to gynae to check?
 
i guess every body is different. maybe it's really menses. my menses just came and it's really heavy flow for the first 4 days! scary.

in any case, maybe u can call gynae clinic and check wif nurses?

cos my gynae appointment is next week , and at the last appointment , the nurse told me , if i m still not clean , then have to change appoinment with them , so i was thinking , maybe its normal ...

just wanna check , any mummy also like me , not " clean " yet , then continue with menses liao ... =P

Yup. U can get infacol at Pharmacy. One of the mummies here recomended & I think it works. Just add a drop into the milk for ur bb. I've checked wif my GP, he said normally they'll also prescribe Infacol. If Infacol is not tat effective, I think there's another brand En..something.. for colic too.

I heard tat bb can take their milk less frequently now cos their stomach is more well-developed & can absorb the milk more than last time. Tat's y the milk can last them longer. I also find my bb takes only 2oz of milk if she wakes up at night instead of the usual 4oz during the day. Most of the time, she dun even wake up for night feedings at all.
If ur bb is growing well, nothing much to be concern.

since u stop bf n the flow is quite heavy, then most prob its menses cos it's ard 5 weeks aft delivery liao...if it's lochia then will b quite light by this time liao mar...
 
My gal also reduce intake liao at wk11, she also take longer to finish her milk, drink half way will smile n talk at u then push the teat around...ahh difficult coach her finish up ,sigz

is the hole of the teat too small so the bb took too long to finish. Sometime the flow is too slow the bb will get pey chey and wun finish the milk.

Another thing is the teat, wat teat are u using. May be u change another brand to see if it improve.
