ya ... and its quite a logistic nightmare ... bringing their milk powder, their diapers, children change clothes more often so lots of clothes, jackets, coats, sweaters, thermals, but it was really fun shopping for winter wear ... without the trip I can only look at how nice those gap coats are for the kids ... now I get to buy and they get to wear for me to take photo ... consolation to spending so much

Hey ur question abt wat SAHM do to fill time? LOL!

Hmm... let me see, today's routine is:
7am Wake leisurely, do toileting and let helper feed and change Ahboy. My mum feed Ahgirl. I hear whining kids while in the toilet... Ahboy is no-no-no to changing clothes, wearing shoes, everything!

740am Rush outta house with Ahboy. Ahgirl sulk (but I hav arranged for a gf to swing by with her kid and helper in the morning to take Ahgirl and helper out).

830am (after spending nearly an hour on bus with restless Ahboy) SCOLD BUS DRIVER for not knowing his bus-route. I printed out the darn streetdirectory map, he just have to tell me when to alight! He doesn't KNOW the name of the stop I tell him, can't READ the map! Another passenger try to help, thankfully...

840am I alight on passenger's help... but WRONG STOP. Still 4 more stops to go, upon checking the bus-stop directory.

845am Flag a cab to Evans Rd for JG Holiday class.

9-11am Deal with 2 meltdowns. Once when Irv refused to "keep away" a coveted Power Shovel (construction truck thingy), another when Irv refused to stop eating (to go play OUTDOORS, even!).

12nn Reached bus-stop (walk out of Evans Rd, past 1 bus-stop, cross the road, another distance...). Carrying Irv 2km. 2KM!!!

130pm Reached home, just in time to miss the heavy downpour, phew! Ahboy wakes up from his nap, argh! Entertain him, which is quite nice... rainy day, laze in bed. Just babbling... nothing educational/ no flashcard no reading or wat lah, haha.

2+pm My gf drops Ahgirl and helper at my place. Ahgirl napping, carries on napping. I immediately toss Ahboy over to helper while I reheat leftover food to have my first meal. Phone contractors to settle some reno stuff. And surf. And blog. And go to forum here, hahaha.

Later I need to run to Geylang with the girl to buy some light fitting thing, then run to mall near my HB's workplace to have dinner with him (and with Ahgirl). Helper and my mum will settle Ahboy and their own dinners. Usually by 8:30pm both kids will knock out and then I'm free again :D

Next week will reverse order- Ahgirl's holiday classes (while I arrange for PILs to entertain Ahboy). And next wk, I'm moving house, haha. While HB not in SG. :p I run away he also wun know... kidding!
 
Caveat: But most SAHMs I know dun hav half the help (helper, mum, sometimes gf :p ) I get. My helper pretty good in the sense she's gd with kids, can pack diaper bag without minute instructions from me.

I really cannot imagine the kids knocking out at 8:30pm daily. I will be thankful if they dun sleep at 11:30 or 12 midnite daily liao. Most of the time they knock out around 11am or later. And most of the time I am half dead sitting beside them waiting for them to want to sleep.

Your day is hilarious. Ok, a schedule for me to think about if I do become SAHM. Think I will do some cooking too, there's a lot of Hakka dishes I have been meaning to get my hands on ... abacus seeds, yong tao hoo blah blah blah.

I didn't know postpone also have to pay! Gosh...bloodsucking bla bla....:p So, does it make more sense to just withdraw and rejoin? I can't remember what I paid the first term. I know that PEC is compulsory but I don't mind if that is the only additional cost in addition to term fees...can get hubby to go the next round.

At the moment, it seems that G benefits more by playing with me, in terms of LM, ESP and PM. She can be really accurate (most of the time). But normally in class, her answers are 50:50. Weird. So I kindof feel that maybe it is good to let her take a break from the class and do something else.

Enjoy your holidays! Sound like a hugh project but sure will be fun with kids around.

Really kowtow to you. Can take bus for such long journey! I think I will be bash before I reach the destination...what more to say have to go through the class with G...But you make me feel tempted to try the bus leh...See can or not..Do you know if there is any bus from Tamp to Cluny Road (Kidsloft?) *I must be crazy, not?*.

yah my gfs say I kiam-pah when on certain days I whine, "aiyoh 9:30pm the kids still dun want to sleep!". :p But seriously, I find that most kids will "dong" til late cos they wanna spend time with their parents... if knock out 8:30pm, not enough time to spend with FTW parents mah. Our case unique... I see them whole day, by nightfall I energy flat, will implement Dinner by 6pm, LIGHTS OUT 7pm, so that I can rest. HB works most nights too, so no point letting kids stay awake to see more of my tired face only :p .

It will be a challenge and great experience for you to bring them on a trip this time. Do share yr experience here as I wanted to bring my boy for winter holiday, i even bought some winter wear for him from japan for standby.

But knowing that if i bring him sure will have to pack a bag full of his stuffs, really no joke! Can't imagine bringing 2 small kids...

Wow, SAHM is really busy also huh esp a mum of 2. No wonder many ppl says we will auto slim down once we had 2 kids (esp a SAHM).
 
poohy: Err, if postpone still have to pay $$ to SM? Actually they got no rights to do that isn't it??? Can understand paying some deposit if skipping term (provided they can secure your original timeslot), but paying more if quiting is really ridiculous.

Pawprint: What a hectic day!!! Lucky you have helpers to take care of your girl so u concentrate just on Irvin.

Joyfulmom: If I dun rem wrongly, the PEC fees will be offset against the 4th term's fees (ie stay with them for 1 yr). If quit <4 terms, means have to pay for PEC, otherwise it's like 'free'.

Re: Taking bus
ER enjoys taking bus. We've tried taking from tampines to Katong Shopping Centre (~45min trip) ahd he's been well-behaved....at least better than when he's in our car. He'd be in observation mode, looking at other bus passengers and the surroundings. I guess it's good to have them experience public transport now & then.

ya lor they just implemented recently that skip term also must pay. Last time my boy skipped 2 terms for free. sigh pay and pay lah ;) Something like skip maximum 2 term pay $80. If more than that gota reassess and may have to pay for PEC and whatsoever all over again so if that's the case better to quit and rejoin lah. As for the timeslot is also based on first come first serve wan lah. I lose track of their rule liao ... all i remember is everything must pay money somehow haha

sigh half dead liao and my head drooping and nodding liao and S will still keep asking me to sing song with him. U know the JG playclub "Let's say hello song" with the hands waving ? He will insist me to sing that again and again and again... and if i am too soft, he will still say "louder, faster" etc like my teacher.

did u visit LW last month? The teacher told me someone with twins visited them and knew me... so I was wondering who it was. At first thought it was my SIL cos she also has a pair of twins hehee... but btw, LW dun have morning playgroup next year leh... so if u put your two in there, it will be afternoon.... so sad rite... if not I sure 1000% put my ah girl inside. Now she got no where to go and I am still researching... sigh square one.

LW is GREAT. I love it there! U got my blog access? read more abt my review of the school in my posting for this month and last month. can also see some photos of the school compound. Let me post something over here to share... cos last thurs S went to perform in his school year end concert and I was there... it was also the K2's graduation :

EXTRACT FROM MY BLOG=>

At 10am, the concert started. It began with the video footage of the photos of the 24 graduating K2 students who had been with the school for the last 4 years since playgroup. Even though it was not Samuel's photos, but I teared a little, feeling touched to see how those little tods like my Samuel grown throughout the years and how the school keep track of their growth and those priceless smiles and joy on their face reflected throughout the 4 years photos.

Then came their graduation ceremony... each of the graduating student went up to stage, wearing their graduation gown, much like our graduation in university, to collect the graduation certificate from Ms Lorna Whiston. Then the first boy went straight to the microphone in the centre of the stage after collecting his certificate, and started to deliver a speech on how he felt on this day of his graduation. It was a heartwarming, well written and fluent speech which was delivered with great confidence and clarity by a 6 year old boy. Me, hb and my mum were really blown away ... But I thought to myself, this must be their best student delivering the graduation speech just like our own university convocation where best student was asked to do same. But no! Each of the other 23 K2 students who came on stage went straight to the centre after collecting their certificate to deliver an equally interesting, witty and heartwarming speech... some in maindarin, some in english...
I was left feeling astonished. They probably got their parent's help to craft those speech, but what amazes me was how confident each and everyone of them were. None of them were looking around in fear, stuttering or whispering. And delivering those relatively long speech in front of a crowd requires good memory and courage. I told hb I would cry if Samuel ever stand there doing the same on his graduation day. I recalled my own 6 year old days... I cant remember a thing about my kindergarten except being bullied at times lol. I think the school did such a good job to make the first schooling years of these children's life so memorable and so fun and an episode to be remembered forever.

indeed a busy day for a mother of 2. i totally agree with both side of the ILs and helper's helpin, it will be alot easier to concentrate on one at a time. imagine, if there isnt any help or little help from both sides.. the story will b the other way round.

On half-dead...haha, G does similar things to me now. She will say "More, more, MORE" on the song she wants me to sing..."mama, boat" = row, row, row your boat, or "mama, 'winkle stars". Some times can sing one song for...must be near a hundred times in a night....lol.. Worse, if she ask to be carry around. I will say use "bei-bei" =ergo carrier. She will say,"No, bao-bao" =to be carried without ergo carrier. And that is not it yet. She will say," Go, chu-qi(go out)". And I will have to carry her to the living room and trot around....If I don't do them, she cried..And there are times I just have to say, sleep time now. No more bao-bao and let her cry a bit. And she would repeat,"dark, moon , stars come out, sleep"....

May just withdraw and join again if that is the case. When I told my hubby about all the publicity they seem to be doing, my hubby was like :"I thought it is about parents' commitment to do home practice and investing time and love on their kids?...." Well,......monopoly....

Joyfulmom: Your sleep encounter with G reminds me of ER few night ago. He was whining away, ask me to carry him walk around, then keep wanting to stand on the window ledge to look at the pool. It was raining that night, so I refused to let him stand on the ledge cos raining + ledge was still wet with rain (cos maid forgot to close the windows in the afternoon & yes, she did not wipe the ledge dry although wet). So I carry him around, sing song to him, put him down on bed, and repeat these actions. He still whine. Then I got fedup, 'throw' him on the bed, told him harshly 'Mummy is tired and want to sleep. I've told you it's raining outside and window ledge is wet, so cannot stand there. Goodnight.' Then i lie down to sleep. Surprisingly, he stopped whining and stay lied down on the bed. Haha...After he kept quiet, I told him nicely, 'so u need me to scold u to keep quiet? Explain to u nicely but u don't want to listen. Next time must be good boy then I won't scold u ok?' He replied 'Um.' Haha.. so cute :p So hoh, they understand but take advantage of us by throwing tantrums. Cannot always give in to them.

Aiyo, looks like i'm really long-winded. Such a long paragraph!

I was reading your extract on the K2 graduation ceremony and totally agree how these 6 year olds differ vastly from us when we were 6 ourselves.

On Sundays, I teach 6 year old in Children's Ministry in church and am constanty amazed at how articulate they are and how they blow our minds away with their creativity. Yesterday, this 6 year old boy sat me down and told me his aspirations. He intends to be an explorer when he grows up because that will bring him to many different places on earth, and he's keen to see and experience new things and places. He said his daddy went to Eygpt whilst as a kid, and shared with him the colour of that country, which created the desire in him to see it for himself.

At the end of the whole talk, I was totally wide-eyed (but I managed to keep my mouth from gaping open) .. and I told myself, lets face it, whether we admit it or not ... it's a totally different breed of babies/kiddies we are dealing with these days, and we need to flow with them, encourage their strength, and smooth out their developmental points. At the end of the day,remember to have fun whilst doing it

JG hol program - hmm.. v v big class thus abit sqeezing in the room. but overall it's fun loh... only hv storytelling, art then snacks, outdoor play then music. finish... actually playnest really not tat much "enrichment". it's really just a nice playtime.

playclub - actually really how different is the class? is it like GUG, every week is intro one letter? Poohy - can share with us more...

can explain GUG class to us? i may send ethan for it since i can't get into JG.. i tried GUG trial once but it was so so only..

yest i brought ethan for makeup class at kindermusik cos not able to attend the sun 2 wks later cos going to chiang mai with the 2 boys (haha hope i will be able to survive from the trip).. found that the mon class teacher is so much better than the one that we had.. she is so engaging.. ethan really enjoyed himself..

Yesterday, Zav was following the "jack and jill" song movements. he will take my rubber band, hide behind his back... then ask me where? turn his head left and right... then bring out the hand with the rubber band from his back and said: here....
hahahaha.... i took sometime before realising what he is doing!! hahaha :p

GUG class - think ask those current students loh... like angeline, paula etc.

but GUG teachers really not as good as JG... best of both world would be JG teachers in GUG sch! hahhaha :p but maybe Playclub is really v different from playnest bah.
