HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BB GABRIELLE, EZRA!

Hunnie, Tks for loading the photos into our Apr MTB yahoo 'webshot'.

I like to go but got a friend bb 1st month party to attend. Do share with us wat they will be talking at the Peadisure seminar on 14Apr.

WoW! you really hv the 'power' to tahan the mess and to clean up Amanda after her self-feed. Salute!

Swiss Roll

Yum Yum! Don't nod why my sweet tooth is back again esp after preganancy. How much is it? And when will you be ordering?

Tanwawas, ok, will mail to you. Regarding FM, do you think is becos of teething? Riz at one pt will decline to eat and drink. Takes 2hrs to eat his food and drink only a little milk. A few weeks later, he back to normal again.

For All Mummies, esp those whom had missed the B'bash
I will try to upload some photos form the b'bash after I hv shrink them.

self feeding
i've been letting K self-feed since about 2mths ago when she started trying to grab stuff from me. biscuits, bread, sandwiches, rusks are the easiest. once in a while i let her go crazy with her porridge, just line the area around her booster seat (i started putting her fisher price booster seat on the floor to feed, easier for me) with a lot of newspaper, then just throw away later. the other thing u can try, is give your child their own spoon and they can try to "scoop" some food while you continue feeding normally.

BF mummies
those of you who let bb (or should i say toddler??
happy.gif
) suckle to sleep, any ideas how to wean them off it? i realise that i have cultivated a rather bad habit of letting K suckle to sleep at night and for naps, so now she sometimes gets so demanding that at night, she can cry for almost 1hr (won't even be pacified by carrying) unless she gets to suck suck.

tanwawas,

Good idea to place baby in the toilet and strip her naked and feed her.. but my toilet area is pretty dirty and is very near to my dog... so cant do it lor...

Pentupmum

Yes.. agree totally.. my girl wont open up her mouth to eat her own food readily but she can snatch my credit card bill from the table and ate up 1/4 of it!

petite

No worries about the photos. The swiss roll is $6 per roll.. will order once we hit 25 rolls.. see response first.. for those ordering the fresh durian ones.. please please ensure that you can collect it as soon as the rolls are ready for collection.. cos my fridge is not big enough to accommodate all the rolls and the durian rolls will turn sour if left outside for too long...

miu66

I have this habit too.. my girl will not sleep.. cannot be be pacified by anything.. unless she has neh neh to suckle at b4 she sleeps.. I was busy cleaning up the place yesterday and she was crying away from 9 plus till 11 pm.. and she feel asleep immediately after she suck suck awhile

Hunnie, ur Amanda is very funny.. ate up of ur card.. I guess that will be a good reason for u being unable to go shopping with ur Credit Card. Dun need to spend $$. Nvr mind, at least she is nice enuff to leave for u as a memory.

By the way, is the Botanical Garden trip confirmed? I post in the thread to momyam but no response yet. U r going too, rite? I would like to join the trip but dun knw u guys ok or not as it seems to be a big group.

hunniepot
is amanda still TBF? do you have ideas on how to curb this suck suck addiction? i used to let K cry and she would stop eventually, now she just screams louder and louder!!

here is a pic of my messy eater!
750275.jpg

miu66,

Yeah... Amanda is still a TBF baby.. she refuses to suck from the bottle.. and will only drink 1 to 2 mouthful of chocolate flavoured pediasure from the cup b4 she spits the rest out.. no idea how to curb this habit leh.. but I intend to let her suckle to sleep for as long as I can.. even after I go back to work next time.. my hubby read from My Paper (wo bao) that this mother who TBF her child for 2 whole years, and engaged her hubby's help to stop the suckle to sleep habit.. instead of doing that.. use other methods like patting baby to sleep (mother disappear out of sight).. and there are some mothers who left their child at their grandparents' place and disappear out of sight for several days.. but find that this is a very cruel way of weaning off the breast

mom_yam

Hope that Issac gets well soon..

hi miu,
she looks so different from the last time we met. a pretty big gal now!

re: suckle to sleep
it's her bedtime routine too but if she's too full for milk but is very sleepy, she still can zzz by lying on the bed and sucking her fingers.

Hi miu66,

When I was a SAHM, Shawn cannot go to sleep without nursing.

But since going back to work, for several times I have tried to not nurse Shawn to sleep by disappearing out of sight during his reading time before bed and letting daddy settle him. He would read to him, and pat him to sleep and strangely, he would almost go down without a peep (rub his eyes, lie down, and sleep!). Shawn has no problem going to sleep at the nanny's without my breast just by patting.

But when he gets up at night, he would cry for a long time and wants to nurse. I will almost always get daddy in to settle him first and if he really cannot settle him, then I will nurse.

While it's harder for daddy gets him back to sleep by patting (as compared to the breast) I realised that since doing that, he has been able to sleep for at least 6-7 hour stretch before getting up again. Maybe because he knows he will get daddy instead of mommy, so no point waking up.

These few weeks daddy is out of the country, and I have been nursing him to sleep and he's waking up so much more frequently now! Urrgh! He has also been getting dark and puffy eyes.. sigh.

Hunniepot, this very cruel huh? :p

Hi Su,

No lar.. you misunderstood my earlier post.. in my opinion, your method is ok.. what I was referring to is what I have read from the article, they mentioned that it is very cruel to suddenly stop giving the breast to baby, and to achieve that, some mothers actually leave baby at the grandparents' house several days or weeks in a row.. (mother disappear out of sight completely) the moral of the story is to wean off the breast gradually and not a sudden thing

hey mummies, pai seh.. mia for sometime.. im adopting the life being SAHM but somehow find it the toughest job in this world.. sigh... Nix fall sick on Sunday while i was busy with my bro's wedding.. and the next day, i brought him back to my mum's place cos really cant handle him the whole day.. on my 3rd day being SAHM, i wanna give up liao.. and start looking thro Recruit Section from sat ST.. sigh.. my mum even mock at me.. sigh...

hunniepot,
your friend might want to try my confinement lady contact 93663382.

Like you my girl is still TBF and i cant wean her she is so addicted. Think i have to continue until she is 2. :p

jumbo,
I was like you when i was SAHM previously. For the first few days i was also like you. I told my mum i cant do it need to engage a babysitter or my baby will be tortured by me. cant even give her a proper bathing. hee. dont be discourage though after a few days you will be ok.

Nixion & Isacc, Get well fast fast then can go out and play ok?

Jumbo, life as a SAHM is not that easy.. Slowly take yr time to adjust to it. Don't give up for the sake of Nix.

Hunnie, When you said that there are mothers that leave their bb at their parents house for several days and they will disappear, I might be one of them soon by this end of the year if I go back to my old job leh! Sob Sob! I going to miss bb Riz. But guess I hv no choice unless I can find a suitable ground job.

Su,

No worries
happy.gif

Jumbo,

Like what matsu said earlier, it is definately not easy being a SAHM.. but take your time to adjust accordingly and b4 long, you will be enjoying the sweet moments of it.. the thought of returning to the workforce actually tears my heart.. from someone who doesnt even dare to carry a baby (I have never ever carried a baby b4 Amanda) to a SAHM for 1+ years.. guess I have come a long way... and Im sure you can do it too
happy.gif

prtite,

Guess we wont have a choice, given the circumstances.. give me the choice,, I will want to be a SAHM all the way... though Amanda can drive me mad sometimes.. but I am really enjoying every minute of watching her develop stage by stage..

Hunnie, I also wish too. Wonder when $$$ can just fly into our pockets without working outside and just be a SAHM.
lol.gif

Hi everyone,

hv not posted for quite a while. hope everyone is fine.

Hunniepot, u are a great mommy. Money aside, i doubt I can be a SAHM. it's really a lot of scarifice but I know it can be very rewarding watching your little one grow everyday.

Just to check with u mummies, my baby boy always has this tendency to scratch his ears, usually it's the exterior. I have checked and there's no discharge, just some dried skin and sometimes a bit of dirt. we tried cleaning it regularly with cotton bud and water but he still seems to feel very itchy and yday, he scratched so much that it became very red and a little swollen. any idea what I can do to ease the itch?

Jumbo
Don't give up after just a few days' trying. Carry on and you'll be rewarded by being able to be by Nix's side when he is going thru his toddlerhood. I had a really hard time initially, and can u imagine it was when I was a new mummy, and I had this wailing 2mth old baby by my side 24/7. I threw a lot of tantrums (at my hubby and at Aiden too) but finally settled down and got used to the whole thing.

Our parents need to support us. Your mum is very supportive. She's been taking care of Nix the whole while. Both of u can take care of Nix together. 2 adults to take care of a baby at home is just right. I come my parents' place 2-3times a wk, just to chill out,get some "me" time and run some errands. It's quite bearable this way.

Mummies still BF
Do your babies bite your nipples or cause pain when they first latch on? I everytime got to wince in pain when he first latch on, somehow his 4 teeth will clamp on my nipple first, then he can latch properly.

It's not a good habit to let your babies suckle to sleep, cos they need to learn how to fall asleep on their own. My tactic now is to nurse him, then let him wind down on my bed. He crawl around, plop himself on my body, and all the while I'm pretending to be asleep (& all lights off). After a while (maybe 20min later), he'll get the hint that it's time for bed, and he'll quietly lie down and zzz.

As for weaning, no end is in sight for me still.... sigh.... HE REJECTED HIS FORMULA AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON! Drank like 80ml, and then no matter how I coax, he refuse to drink. Don't know waste how much of my money pouring formula down the sink liao
sad.gif

Mom_yam
I thinking of Pediasure, but like not suitable for our babies, cos it is for kids who are not feeding well or underweight. Our babies are ok in these areas, so I dunno whether shd feed Pediasure or not. I was thinking add a bit Milo to the FM, dunno can or not hor?

Waking up at night
I'm heartened to hear that some mummies still experience babies waking up at night, cos I've been hearing so many ppl say "babies are supposed to sleep thru the night from 3 mths wat!", and mine doesn't...

My boy has never slept thru the night, save for one time when he was around 3-4mths. He'll wake up and cry for no reason, and will only be appeased by nursing. Was quite bad when he was ard the 5-9mth window, but now on good days (which is most days) he wakes only abt twice. Sometimes daddy can put him back to sleep, but usually he needs to suck suck then can keep quiet. And I've observed that he usually wakes ard 2-3pm, and then abt 5pm, so I figured that it is habitual waking (as opposed to being hungry).

Well I can only be optimistic abt this and hope he'll kick this habit soon. At least he's helping me maintain my bm supply (cos nursing/pumping at night stimulates prolactin)! Haha!

And I can have undisturbed sleep from 9pm to 2am, which is a good 5 hrs.... provided I sleep at the same time as him, and that means no TV for me
sad.gif

Mummies who BF,
Need to ask all of you a Q. cos i decided to stop pumping in the afternoon when i am working as my girl Wan Qi simply doesnt want to drink expressed milk. So she will have her lunch followed by early dinner. When i come back at 7 then I latch her. But do all of you think that will decrease my milk supply eventually or its ok since at about seven plus I will latch her. Previously I just have to throw all the expressed milk away which i think its a waste so now i will endure until i reached home.

Petals,
The scratching of ears could be due to teething problems. Cos your bb is uncomfortable but dunno to scratch where, so the ears..

You may like ot try teething gel on his gums.

Petals,

Thanks for your compliments
happy.gif
My girl has the same problem too.. she will scratch the exterior of her ears till it bleeds and is swollen sometimes.. it should be due to teething problems as mentioned by smurfy

smurfy,

You got the cake from ecreative? Very nice
happy.gif

tanwawas,

Yes, I do feel Amanda's teeth biting my nipples when she suckle sometimes.. might be due to the position that you latch Aiden on? It is ok when I latch her on using the lying down position.. there are times when her upper body lies on top of me and suckles.. thats when I feel the teeth..

Bumped into Stepz at Junction 8 earlier.. she is indeed very sharp.. she recognises MY Amanda from the pictures that are posted on the forum.. very pei fu her as she is out alone carrying HER Amanda (both our girls are called Amanda) with a pregnant belly!

Happy Birthday to Amanda and Jarren!

tanwawas
teeth - yes, i def feel K biting me sometimes when nursing. it's especially bad when she's fallen asleep and clenches her jaw suddenly!

hunniepot
i also have problems with FM. started with similac a few mths back, totally unsuccessful, she spat it out every time. tried pediasure vanilla and she actually took that quite happily from her sippy cup but i feel that it's too fattening for her. trying wyeth progress gold vanilla now, she takes it in her cereal but won't take more than a few mouthfuls from her cup
sad.gif
. i wonder if enfagrow vanilla would be any better?

chenoa
yes, time flies! a pity i didn't get to see yr girl when i collected the HT stuff from you that time.

bb waking up at nite

Mummies, try feeding bb H20 instead of milk during the middle of the nite. Got to try a few times. (sometimes can be a few mths) BB are smart. They nod got milk, so they wake up to drink. But when they tasted H20, slowly they will nod no pt to wake up.

petite, if my son wakes up middle of the night he wont mind drinking water instead of milk. *faint*

tanwawas, ask you what time is his last feed (dinner) and his last drinking milk? u may wish to add cereal into his last feed. but if is direct latch i can help unless u can squeeze the cereal into yr nei nei hee..but it could be 2 reasons 1) he is really hungry and needs the milk coz' he is overly active in the morning. or his dinner is too early. 2) it could be just habit.

My frd's son is a hyper duper boy and now he is approaching 4 years old yet he still need night feed once a nite. she dt mind giving it to him coz' his pretty skinny boy.

but do be patient, i had my fair of share ... i manage to curb it with one of the mommy's advice (SOMEONE HOR?) hee hee.. and it works gradually for me. prob drag his dinner time and the last feed.. it may help you.

hunniepot, Whahhaha WHHWHHHHAHHAHAHhahahahahha i cant stop laughing. when did our dear amanda decide to like plastic cards! watch out a potiential shopperholic girl coming to town soon!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JARREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a nice photo frame that your mama did for u ;)

Jumbo, i follow undersand how u feel. is nvr easy to be a sahm esp now they have become more mobile and more fuzzy. dont give up coz' our mom also didnt give up on us when they took care of us when we were young. having to say that we were easier to take care then haha.

tat's why i always envy those sahm w/o maid. these are the moms really need a good break and a pat on the shoulder say WELL DONE.

Which i think there is quite a number of you here had done a great job. girls that i kw will be hunniepot & preciousbabe. Jiayou girls!

Petals, isaac also keep scratching his ears. i've ask doc ytd she says is common and confirm is not ear infection.

smurfy, hunniepot, momyam,
thanks for the reassurance about our babies' itchy ears. Just got worried cos these 2 days one of his ears seems quite red and swollen with some bleeding as well.

Nice pics of the bday bash... seems like most of your babies can walk/stand without support. My boy is learning to stand w/o support now, sometimes will let go his hands or do the action like he is playing the drum. he's already quite a handful now, think it will get worse when he starts to walk/run/climb...

do u gals hv window grilles at ur place? i dun hv it at my place, tot of fixing it especially when my boy starts to get mobile but a bit hesitant cos feel like the house will look like a jail....

tanwawas, i had the same thot!! u kw when i bought the pediasure choc, i bought milo also. telling myself if he still dont drink the pediasure, then he would have to drink milo liaoz! haha

but milo very heaty lei.

Feeding bbies to sleep
YES! its a bad habit. i oso give my bb my nei nei to suck and she'l fall aslp just like tat.. i don't know how or what m i or rather my mom or hb going to do when i go back to work!!! sometimes if she wakes up in the middle of the nite i'l just let her cry. initally her crys were very long and unbearable. now after a couple of weeks she'l eh eh a bit then go back to slp. if she eh eh too long then will let her suck.

EATING.
bb gab has lost weight cos she refuses to eat much nowadays. duno if due to teething.. worried!! she'l turn her head away or shake her hand to tell me she dun want..

PETITE...
thanks for remembering.. gabrielle's birthday..

Strawberry
yah..i think Ivec might b teething as well..he has been crying a lot esp at nights lately & get really cranky..however, not too sure did he lose weight..in fact, the spring for his sarong break last night & now i'm rather worried that the other one is unable to support his weight..hv 2 go & get it later..else Ivec cant sleep w/o his sarong :p

Strawberry & Shylyn, Think most likely is teething that cause of them don't want to drink or eat. Sucking can cause ear ache, so they just don't want to drink milk. Don't worry so much. As long they are active, they should be alrite.

Does any mummies hv this experiences before:

1) bb use to drink 4 times of milk abt 180ml each. Now bb decided to drink 3 times of milk 240ml each??
But at sometimes does not finish their milk.

2) Bb sleep around 9pm. Got to chg another time diaper (11pm/ midnite) eitherwise will start to wake up very early in the morning?

No lar.. hehe I will be horrified if Amanda eats my credit card! She ate my credit card bill that was lying on the coffee table.,. she just conveniently reach out for it from her play yard.. and started eating it.. I was cooking her lunch for her and was wondering it is kinda strange why she was so quiet then.. and was horrified to see her holding on to a half eaten bill and crusing ard the play yard.. not only credit card bills hor... newspapers too!

Shylyn,

I sure that the cake is very nice
happy.gif
And Imina is indeed very friendly.. she has to handle a 2 motnh old boy while baking the cakes at the same time.. not easy leh...

RE: Milo

My neighbour's girl who is in Pri 1 now has been a milo baby since 1 month old... my neighbour was telling me that she is lactose intolerant, and refuses to drink goat's milk, or soy milk.. so drink milo kosong since she is a baby.. and she doesnt seem as healthy as her elder sister.. she gets bruises very easily and the bruises take longer to heal.... etc... but guess so long as our child doesnt take kosong milo only.. should be ok.. worth giving a try..

hunnie,
when bb gab is exceptionally quiet we know she's up to mischief.. we left name cards on the table and most of it are one corner less!! and those boxes we bot from ikea are also many corners lesser!! ah yo! what so nice about paper? proper food dun eat!!

petite, isaac wears pampers pants or mama poko pants or pampers active usually he is able to last till next day say about 8 plus w/o leaking. and he drinks a lot of water prior to slp and say abt 4 am in the morn.

Hey, yr darling able to drink 240ml 3 times that should be the way.. and that shows he has grow up mommy.

the BJG - pp if i'm not wrong is either they are close or they dont take bb.. cant really remember what was the issue that we didnt organise the class over there.

Hunniepot, haha hahah!!!!! so sweet of amanda to share the destroy the credt card before daddy comes back with shock by the amount stated in the bill hahaha.. just kidding!! ya u r right once isaac goes extremely quiet, i will be worried and will make sure he is "destroying" anything that is precious to me haha

ok milo u shall be my next mission should isaac still refuse to drink FM in the afternoon.

shylyn, stufit - thumbs up esp the rice in the chicken (taste like chicken rice in the chicken tummy!!!!) hee hee.. yummy!!

Think quite a no of u will be celebrating the bb bd party this weekend.. HAPPY arranging and HAPPY PARTY!!!!!

Hi Mummies,

Haven logged on for a while. Dylan has been vomiting quite a lot recently, can be 1 or 2 hours after meals or milk. thought should be digested by then. But he has no fever and still seems happy and cheerful. His vomiting bout started after I switched him form enfapro to Gain IQ so not sure if that could be the cause. Anyone has similar experiences? Worse today and he was cranky the whole morning, so I prob will bring him see doc tom.
Will be celebrating his birthday this sunday and really wish that he will be in tip-top condition.

Birthday bash photos
Thanks Petite for sending out the photos. Hoping that it will arrive by sunday so that can show some of the photos to our family at the birthday party. I can't access my gmail at the moment, so can't see any of the photos yet but I'm dying to see them!

Putting non-food items in mouth
Oh my, my son. Have to watch him all the time. Yesterday morning, just turned away for a while and the next thing I know, he is chewing cotton wool in his mouth. And this is the same boy who refused to chew his food before he swallows!!! vomit blood.....

cheers

Hi ladies,

Eating paper is really small case. You should see what Enya eats. That day I was opening up a pair of new socks for her and she came snatching from me. Then the metal piece that secure the socks together went flying. I go around and look for it but cannot find. Enya actually found it and swallowed it. It came out in her poo the next day. Shock the hell out of me when I saw it in the poo. Luckily it came out. Can't imagine what will happen if it didn't.

So now I really can't let her play alone. In case she pick up something else to eat.

TRACY..
oh dear... that sounds really scary... yes must watch them all the time... you nv know what you'l find inside their small lit mouth. sometime i find her chewing on small plastics. if cos... i freaked out!!!

i think only when bb is aslp then i feel relieved and it is the safest time... don you think?

Strawberry,

Ya, must always watch them. One of my friend told me that she ever seen bb pick up lizard and eat. Yucks!!!

For me, sleeping is still not quite safe. My girl sleeps on our bed. I'm still worried she will fall off the bed.

I guess this is what motherhood is all about. I think my mum is still worried about me until today.

tracy
wow, that was close! enya is a lucky girl!

luckily the metal piece went thru her system and came out intact, if not, it would have been serious. a note to all mummies to be careful with small objects like this.

mom_yam
tell you hor.... i added milo to aiden's enfapro, still cannot leh. and we can't give them milo kosong cos if so, where are they going to get their ARA/DHA/dunno what other A???

and aiden very sensitive to FM smell. I tried to sneak some FM into his morning cereal, and after one mouthful, he reject the whole bowl! if just give him kosong cereal with mashed banana, he come to me with his mouth open.

next option i'm thinking of..... FULL CREAM MILK! someone was mentioning that babies above 1yr old can drink cow's milk, which is not necessarily less nutritious than FM. will give it a shot. meanwhile, will try giving him enfagrow again tonight and see how.

aiden's dinner time is ard 6 to 6.30pm depending on when he wakes up from his afternoon nap. he takes a full bowl (adult rice bowl size) of porridge. 9pm will feed him FM, he used to drink 180ml, then direct latch to drink BM. Now drink a few sips then reject, so I'll latch him longer hoping he'll drink more BM. Sleeps ard 9.30. Wakes up ard 2am. If he cries long enough, I'll surrender and let him suck. But he suck a bit, then fall back asleep, so I conclude that it's habit instead of really hungry.

Feeding water at night - I can't feed water unless I prop him up to suck his straw cup. He rejects the bottle and teat.

Hunnie and other BF mummies
How's your milk supply now? My breasts no longer feel full/hard after a few hours like last time. Even after half a day still soft soft. But aiden still drink like got milk leh. Now I'm praying that my supply can maintain or increase to tide him over till the time he accepts FM or full cream milk.

BREAST FEEDING
yes my breast don feel full any more unless i don feed her the whole day then a tiny bit engorged!! i still take funugreek. i realise that if i don then my breast like back to normal but bb still suck like got milk. so i guess that's fine. well i think as long as you let your bb suck there will still be milk supply. i read from this mag that this mom feed her daughter till 11 and 1/2 yrs old!!! that's... i dono what to say... i only plan to BF her till 2 yrs old.
now wen bb wants milk she'l pull up my shirt... v bad habit!!!!
TRACY...
oh yucks man...freak out big time..did e bb have stomache? well wonder wat reaction he'l hv wen he learns abt this wen he grows up... hehe...oops..

oh ya...BTW... now tat bb has turned 1.. can give cheese liao rite?

breastfeeding
yah my breasts never feel full anymore but apparently it's because our bodies are very efficient at producing milk already after so long, so it makes just enough for the baby
happy.gif

cheese/milk/dairy
when i realised in feb that K really won't take FM, i tried fresh milk cos my PD told me last time that it's totally fine to go from BM to fresh milk when baby is ready. anyway, K totally spat it out but she will take it when it's mixed with her breakfast cereal. luckily for us, she loves cheese and yogurt so i give her at least 1 serving of that everyday.

tracy - swallowing objects
eeks, so scary!! luckily yr girl poo-ed it out! my girl is quite gross, she likes to pick up our Crocs slippers to bite, yucks

RE: Swallowing Objects
Tracy..indeed lucky that ur girl pooed out e metal object..i cant imagine what harm it would hv caused if it didn't come out!!
Btw, i'm impressed w e range of objects eaten by the bbs here! heheh..Ivec hasn't really showed an interest to putting things into his mouth to eat (beside his fingers!) unless we feed him or showed him tt it can be eaten, but then again, never know when he will change his mind..
