what brand of FM are u feeding yr bb? i'm thinking of intro'ing FM next month. K is also v fussy, only likes to drink from the breast, and will just play with the bottle teat when we try to give her EBM. also, how many times a day do you give FM? sorry for so many questions, i'm trying to figure out how to slowly wean her off BM cos my work is increasing and it's getting harder to leave her with my MIL when i have meetings.

Hey true.. we feel more for babies now.. when we sit down watch tv shows and happen to see sad stories on them, i tell hubby now i can understand and feel more for them.

hmmm... talking of the weight and size of our babies.. at 1st me took it very hard - why my girl is so small... after thinking- but she's healthy... unlike some babies gotta some health problem when born, gotta stay in ICU... me felt heart pain for them.... so console myself - mine is small but healthy girl... think both hubby and me are of small frame one so will our baby...

RE: MILK INTAKE...
yup, my girl drink 150ml every 3.5hr since 4th mth... yet increase her intake at all. but now.... WORRY... she takes 3 times instead of 4times per day.... so total she takes abt 450ml per day only.... her last drink will be abt 1830hrs. She sleeps abt 2000hrs till 0630hrs... usu she wakes up abt 0400 for her 1st milk of the day ( then back to sleep n wake up abt 0700) now she doesnt... pls advise... shall me wake her up to drink? BUT my mil said dun do that lor... heard ppl said baby sleeps better than wake up for milk, so will grow faster???

oops... think me very "lou so"... really need you mummies' advise...

leereiner, for me it's very hard to get babygal to sleep, so when she sleeps, i just let her sleep.

mummies, any tips for getting babygal to sleep. everyday we hv a very hard time. she will struggle and kick and cry. takes very long to get her to sleep n sometimes only sleep a very short time. we've tried patting, rocking, feeding, stroking, singing, walking. so far the most "painless" is walking cos she will fall asleep without crying. BUT means i cannot put her down or else she will wake the minute her butt touches the mattress.

Maybe you can give me a call and see if i can explain to you how to make your bb gal sleep. I dunno how to tpye out leh. My bb now sleep at 9pm everyday but will still wake up once to for milk.

I am not expert but hope to help you coz JJ is about the same as your gal and he really drives me crazy. Need to pat, swing, walk just to make him sleep than the moment put him down, he cry. Lucky that time i got my sister maid to help out a while so still not that bad. But now he had good night rest so i not sure if what works for JJ will work for you anot.

mailbox cleared liao.

I think menses interferes with milk supply. The past few days, my milk supply rather low....latch my girl on so many times and even offer both breasts but still not enough. To satisfy her hunger, fed her slightly more cereal, couldn't extract a single drop of BM from either breast to mix with. Asked my MIL to buy papaya to make fish-papaya soup, drank for two meals, today supply set back agin.

Is Rubella the same as German Measles? Coz my mum had it when she was 5mths pregnant with me. The doctor told her then that the bb will probably be borned deformed and suggested abortion.

But since your fren's gynae didn't mention anything, I guess should be ok bah. If she's still worried, perhaps she shld seek 2nd opinion?

my bb has the same sort of sleep difficulty as yours. needs nursing, rocking, walking or a combo of all 3 in order to sleep and nap. in fact, for the past 2wks, she's been waking 3-4 times a night as well, not because she's hungry or wet but she just wants me to rock/nurse her back to sleep. 2 nights ago i tried the 'harsh' cry-it-out method but gave up after 15mins, she's just not the sort of bb who'll tire out and fall asleep, she just cried even harder. i felt so bad that night that me and hubby let her sleep on our bed between us, and she slept right thru the night!! finally last night, after she had woken up twice, i put a small towel (that i had used for BF'ing during the day) into her cot and she actually snuggled up and fell back asleep!! gonna try again tonight and see if it works, guess she just wants to be near mommy

If your baby din ask for milk (sleep through), then let her be. She'll compensate for the missed feed by drinking / eating more the next morning if she's hungry. Sometimes they drink more, sometimes they drink less....could be the growth spurt thing.

My gal sometimes do not want to take milk when she wakes up (about 10 -10.30am), so I'll feed her cereal and she takes. ??? dunno why like that also. :p

RE: Difficult to make baby sleep
Used to try so hard to make her nap in the day, then I just forget about trying. Remember I said that she doesn't nap in the day, or if lucky maybe 2 x 15mins nia? These few days, dunno why she get sleepy and can take short naps liao leh? By herself somemore.....I was typing out the earlier message to bblim and wanted to go and change her to go gai gai, aye...see...she just fell asleep in her cot. hahaha

Come to think of it, I think it was a good decision to let her sleep in the cot beside our bed when she was turning 3 mos. (Prior, she was co-sleeping with us for about a month - this lazy mommy dun want to climb in and out of bed when nursing time.) Now, she sort of recognises that it's for sleeping in. Once she's left inside the cot by herself, she usually can fall asleep. That's how she sleeps at night....I'll leave her in the cot, sometimes turn on the musical mobile and leave the room. She'll make some noise - sucking or 'ern ern ern ' to get attention, but we'll simply ignore her. Slowly, no more sound and that's when we check on her....she'll be sleeping already.

It usually works, but not always.

I'll still nurse her in the middle of the night when I hear her sucking sounds, eyes still closed....it's her cue to mommy that she wants milk. She has never cried for her milk before. Thank goodness! Think I'm quite lucky to have a baby like her.

Miu66, I give Similac. for the 1st 2 mths. i was substituting with similac for nite feed (for convenience) until Lucas is able to sleep thru and also MS increases, so i give 100% BM. since now i plan to stop BF soon, afraid tat he might reject FM taste, so get a tin to try out. To my surprise... he guk guk guk and finishes 150ml. drink faster and more than BM lei. only giving FM once a day, just to get him used to it. one prob solved! my biggest headache now is.. he still wants to suckle me at nite for comfort, tats y i always say boy is still a boy.. haiz..Now trying not to let him suckle at all liao.. this mummy so cruel hor.... but no choice!
 
fussiecat, this BF thingy is taking up too much time and tiring.. hb said, b4 sleep see u xpress, wake up, also see u xpress.. men just dun understand how much we suffer, only know how to complaint. he doesnt want to hear me fuss and fuss, so might as well stop. ok lah... at least i fullfill the minimum of 6 mths.. very happy liao. looking forward to get back my LIFE. hopefully, Lucas dun give me hell of prob. *fingers crossed*
 
Tiffany, think coz FM is sweeter than BF. as for needing to suck u to slp... last time isaac also like that.. end up i have to get my maid to feed him milk and pat him to slp coz' he see me = nei nei milk. that will help, maybe u can consider.
 
cheona - u a woodlander? i know bblim is. if yes, we should meet up one of these day. and next time go town can share cab....woodland take cab go town very expensive.

two things make me happy just now:
1) 1st time read "Peekaboo I See You" book to her and she smiled at the characters when I open the flaps to show their faces, especially at Elmo.

think she recognises him cos he's RED and we often watch Elmo's World during her lunch feed.

2) Tried broccoli for dinner....I mixed it into her cereal cos afraid she don't like the taste. The first mouth, she showed a "sourish" / "yucky" face but she still open her mouth for another, another and another.....then I tried broccoli puree alone, she also take 2 mouthful. I continued with the broccoli cereal and know what? she 'chew' and 'chew' then her eyes slowly close...

Daiso is the Japanese $2 departmental store that sells MANY MANY MANY things. Jap food, Toys, Stationery, household stuff, fishing and gardening things, etc.....Also got a small baby section, can find bath toys, baby bowls, rattles....

I like to buy plastic containers from there. And the Green Tea Caramel Corn is Soooo nice! Did you get that, Amy?

I was the 'pui pui ah-sor' who was at the acrylic section and bought up almost all the acrylic drawers. 8 of them? They were only $2 each when I used to buy the Muji ones at $34 each!!!

Also I had pureed pear for my gal today. But seems like she dunno how to appreciate ler. Can see her goosebumps appearing after taking the 1st mouthful. N after few spoonfuls, she started to make noise n dun wan liao. Guess wat? I finished the remaining portion. It tastes yummy in fact. Dun understand y she dun like it oso. Going to try again tomorrow.

Last time I saw the caramel corn near the cashier and at the titbits section in IMM. Don't buy wrongly hor, got two types, the original caramel corn and the new flavour Green Tea caramel corn. But both also nice lah.

pear ah.... The 1st time I make got excess, I freeze. Then after I reheated to serve, my gal don't seem to enjoy as much. I tasted and realised that got some sourish / siap siap aftertaste. Fresh one dun have lor....so subsequently, I make for her and finish off the excess myself. Yummy right? Hope your gal will appreciate it tomorrow. You use organic pear?

So far, my gal eat non-organic fruits and vege.....this lousy mother don't bother to source organic stuff for her. The only organic stuff she takes is HT brown rice. Speaking of which, I'm intending to do a BP on HT cos her cereal almost finish liao. Any mommy interested, pls drop me a PM for details ok? Hope to hit $100 for 15% discount.

expressing is sooo tiring. luckily my hubby is understanding. he tries to help out with other things as much as he can (tho sometimes he 'yue bang yue mang', adding to my frustration :p) i still have one mth to go before i hit my target of 6mths... i hope to continue after that. we'll see how it goes lah!

bblim/cheona - how to make brocolli puree? Boil the vege till soft then just blend is it? J like bottled pea so I am intending to make some home made pea puree for him. Have any of you tried to make b4?

RE: puree - how to make?
ok...hope it'll be the last time I say this. Me machiam some naggy old lady....
<font color="119911">All vege and fruits to be boiled/steamed till soft and tender. ( I like to steam to retain it's nutrients. If boil, don't put too much water, use just enough water to cover.) Leave to cool and puree. Freeze excess if you want to.</font>
I hope you gals know how to prepare the fruits and vege before cooking hor...cos I din 'teach' how to wash, peel, chop, etc....leh :p

Just some notes:
1) Non-cook fruits: (suitable from 4 mos) papaya, banana. ***banana cannot freeze*** (suitable from 5 months) avocado, mango, kiwi
2) Root Vege: (suitable from 4 mos) carrots, potato, sweet potato, pumpkin,
3) Leafy Vege: (suitable from 5 mos) spinach, watercress. Remove stalks, use only the leaves.
4) Broccoli/Cauliflower: (suitable from 5 mos) use the floret, not the hardy stem.
5) Peas: (suitable from 5 mos) Fresh / Frozen. Fresh peas,remove pod and use the peas only.
6) <font color="ff0000"> Foods to avoid until 6 mos </font>...citrus fruits and berries, wheat-based foods, fish, red meat, mushrooms.

***Vege like broccoli and spinach got a strong taste, so may be good to start off by mixing with potato / sweet potato *** Actually, potato is a very good base for other vege. ***

You must have make a lot of goodie for your bb liao hor... so envy your bb. My JJ only started with Gerber Plain Rice Cecreal, going to try to make it thicker for fim to get use to the texture. Last week is more milk than cereal.... heehee. I guess i will try to prepare all the food and freeze it for my mum to feed him.
