(2006/04) April 2006 MTB

rach - how much is the exersaucer? I read read read but still cant find the price. paiseh.

bblim - J interchange b/t bottle and nipple easily as by now BF already establish....but u may need to bottle train yr bb early....my stubborn boy took 1 mth to accept the bottle.

Here is something I read on walker vs exersaucer but it might not apply to every child. But I like the exersaucer coz more interactive.

hunniepot,
tink this leapfrog one is for 4m+ to 36m.

Water can feed frm syringe but milk not possible rite. Coz my gal juz like urs refuse to drink frm bottle.

Rach,
Do u intend to feed ur boy with FM or BM or combi during ur absence? According to my hubby, MIL wld prefer FM to BM. Haizzz... So she may not let my ah gal drink even tho I expresses out.

mel,
Mine too. Stubborn gal who simply refuses to drink frm bottle until now. Tried on many occassions which we starved her, coaxed her but unsuccessful. She rather cried herself to sleep than drink.

Now my immediate task is to train her drink frm bottle n at same time hoping she wun reject latching on when I returned. Contradicting rite?

Tiffany, thk you may wish to go marina sq - kiddy palace there's a similar as Leapfrog exersaucer and walkers there u can ask the sales pple there. My frd owns a leapfrog exersaucer and Isaac can stats to play with the displays and from my understanding they learn more on a exersaucer than a walker.

Bascially, a walker is only "train" them how to walk rather than entertaining them. that's why i prefer a exersaucer than a walker. :p

Hi,

My heart also "itchy" for the leapfrog exersaucer lei...I like it coz the seat can turn 360degrees and i like 1-5 musical numbers. The only flaw is.. it doesnt have wheelers.
I asked my colleague who has 3 kids... she thinks bb get bored at one position. She recommended me Peg pereggo walker. More stable and comes with toys too. I will go shopping this weekend to see the difference and do a comparison. As for stationery toys, i have kick and play bouncer and activity gym which i mentioned to Rach earlier. Dunno lei... still cant decide... btw, how much is this exersaucer selling? isit $189??

btw... wat strollers u mommies use?

BULKPURCHASE FOR LEAPFROG EXERSAUCER CLOSED

thank you mummies for participating

Tiffany,
it's fun, interactive n lots of music. Tink she shld like it coz she seems excited whenever I put her in n protest when I carry her out. Not sure for how long. Juz started putting her in few days ago for <5mins each time.

bblim,

Can't help u much in that matter.. heehee.. my ger only latch on for the first mth, and in that first mth, she also drink often from bottles. 2nd mth i only express once at nite due to low MS and my bb heavily dependant on bottle feeding - FM. So when we went to HK, my mil had no problem handling her at all.

WARNING
All mommies out there. please don't put your baby in walkers!!!!

I have personal experience to share. My elder boy was taken care by nanny. for the sake of convenience, i think she put him in the walker for most of his waking hour.

when he was laerning how to walk, he developed the walker syndrome. this makes him tip-toe whenever he walks as he developed the wrong muscles used for walking due to spending long hours in the walker. Even now, at age 21 months, he still tip toes whenever he walks. we must always remind him to walk with his feet firmly on the ground......

btw, we discovered this during his 15month jab at the PD, and he showed me an article on this one. maybe you gals can search on related topics and read up more. BUT ITS NO WALKER FOR MY BBs anymore!

hope the above info is help.

RE: Flashcards
any idea if it's ok to use laminated cards? i got a few free flashcards and it's quite flimsy and dog-eared. Thinking of lamination to extend the cards' service life. Worried will have reflection, not good for seeing?

thanks for the info. I have heard and read abt avoiding walkers, somehow, there are still many mommies give walkers to bb and tell me "OK LEH... THEIR BB CAN WALK NORMALLY." Yes, i think putting bb in walker is convenient & easy way out. My MIL alrdy suggested to me to get L a walker liao! sigh.

What u said I ve oso heard of.

Dun intend to let my gal take the walker too... i've heard tat once bb re ready, they will pick themselves up and slowly try to walk..

But yet, I got mommies who told me tat in the end will put bb on walker becoz when bb see us walk away, she/he will cry n so placing bb on walker, he/she can see where u going n follow.

Hmmmm...

Mayb we ve to make sure the walker can adjust to many heights???

i think it varies from baby to baby. my niece, who is now 18mths old, did not go through the crawling phase at all and used a walker until she could walk by herself (before 12mths), she is walking perfectly fine now.

maraquan
wow your baby's arms and neck are so strong!! K can hold her head up quite high in this position but it seems that she's using her back (ie. arching her back) rather than pushing up with the arms. do you put your baby on his tummy a lot?

Having said the above abt the walker, I don't intend to put K in a walker cos I'm afraid she'll crash into our furniture!! Also, my house has a raised up part in the living room so it'll be very troublesome to have to keep watching out for her not to roll down the step.

If u dun get K a walker, wat u intend to put her on? understand tat bb cant lie for too long, they want to be sitted upright. U considering exersaucer?

Re: Exersaucer
mom_yam, looking at Lucas's character, he wants to be moved around. he is the sort who cant sit still, afraid tat he gets bored sitting in the exersaucer for too long.
Unless i have lots of spare cash, i will also get the exersaucer. walker is only for convenience at my MIL's place, while exersaucer is more for learning and training his skills.

went to kiddy plc, cant find any gd walker lei... any recommendation?

Tiffany, Isaac is also very active and move around.. but he got very interested with Exersaucers coz' a lot of toys for him to play and he can actually "bounce" so he is happy at this pt. I'm super worried he being so active that he will start using the walker and knock all my furnitures. and he may trip over from there.. a bit paranoid hor hahaha..

u can also try ubi - the hypermart they have walkers on display.

tiffany
i'm thinking of getting the exersaucer and/or the FP Jumperoo (pic below). We let her try it before and she likes it

It's got adjustable springs and an activity tray with lights, sounds etc etc. The activity tray can also be lifted off and you can put snacks so that baby can jump and nibble later on.
