Hi ginger... hope these info will help you, pls note the ones in BLUE
Curently I am on TBF, latching my baby on 2-3 hr interval (feed on demand). I am not pumping out my milk at all.
Questions:
1) Should I be pumping at all? I tried to pump a couple of times and each side only yield 10-30ml max after each feed.
Yes you should carrying on pumping after each latch to empty the breast, this action helps to make the supply more
2)Some people tell me not to pump until my milk stablised, but how will I know when it will stabilised? Baby is currently 2.5weeks.
milk stablise then pump? that will be too late, by then chances u supply wont be there anymore. you should pump and latch. Demand = Supply, if you latch and pump to empty both breast, then the supply will be more. pump helps us to know how much bb has drink and for you to know.
3) Should I pump after every feed or like 3 times a day?
how many times you should depends on you. i pump average every 4-6 hours interval. Pre-pump and keep in chiller is ok. Freshly pumped EBM can stay in a ROOM TEMP. for up to 10hours, and in chiller 48 hours and in freezer for 6mths. If inside the chiller for 48 hours and u wan to put into freezer its still possible, but u have to do it before it reacehes 48hours.
4) Read that some of you suggest having EBM during first month party, I thought of introducing bottle only at 6 weeks to avoid nipple confusion, anyone had problems?
i am still breastfeeding, both latching and EBM. my girl has stopped FM totally since after the 1st mth confinement. and she has no problem with drinking EBM from bottle too.
