share my good news. my big boy can turn alr!! he managed his 1st flipping exercise on saturday morning. roll over from his back to his tummy. since then he keeps practicing his new found skill..... hee hee.....

I think there is N1 n N2 too(not too sure though)
Nursery-Kindy education is non-compulsory.
for your boy, he should be in playgroup in Jan 2007
but again, it varies from school to school though they way they group the kids are abt the same.(some classify nursery as 2.5yrs, some as 3yrs)
registration/enrolment: depends on the popularity of the school.
some schools have a long wait list and requires you to register months/year before.
some has immediate vacancy.
some prefer you enrol when the new term starts so its easier transition for everyone.
some schools have a certain registration period.
most playgroups - nursery are about 2.5-3hrs, @ 2x-5x a week.

it depends on whats your objectives of sending your ds to school.
for most, its to give the children opportunity to socialise, less so learning the 3Rs.
normally its the parents who are 'not ready':p
(me included :p )
hence some parents look for pg with very small teacher:student ratio. (for our kids, abt 1:8 ?)

there are many choices around your place as its a new estate teeming with young parents.

Oh, then rachel is jie jie, she's born at 1222hrs. I really respect those mommies who had gone through natural birth, can't imagine myself doing it. My pain tolerance very low.

i am sending my gal to a playgroup next year too. have landed my eyes on a church kindy with playgroup for 2.5 YO onwards but can only enrol her in July 2007 since she will only be 2.5YO then.

thanks for your info. i am keen in riverlife too but its inconvenient for julien's nanny who stays at pasir ris st 11. anyway, i will be enrolling him in holy grace kindergarten to start in 2008. on the one hand, i want him to go for playgroup, on the other hand, i amd frighten that he will fall sick. he was in infant care last time but also sick and end up hospitalised for bronchi.

i hope to find half day playgroup near nanny house so she can help to fetch natalie back fm school. target to start when she reach 2.5 YO. hmm... looks like i need to start looking for school now.

Actually, my backside not very small lei. If for natural birth i sure opt for epi. Ya, so fast hor, our babies going to 2. Still miss those days when they are so tiny, only drink, sleep, and poo. So easy to handle.
Rachel is now at KM and Zoophonics School. Will be going back to GUG next term, sat 2pm class. Found that zoophonics program not that comprehensive, so will stop after this month. Rae still at GUG?

I'll be sending rachel to a daily 2hrs playgp next year, starting Jan'07. Is called "Tots House" near my mum place at AMK. But I'm not sure whether she's ready for it. Will try out for a month, if not then will just stick to the weekend classes.

i will be sending dean to nursery as well.
its just next to my MIL's house, so its v convenient.

prob start only when dean is 2.5 years old.
he's still quite baby-ish now, so i er ... i'm reluctant to let my baby "grow up" lah.

the whole idea of going to them was for PHONICS, but they spent less than 5mins doing that!

agree with u and cody, so ironical that the 'zoophonic school' emphasis on phonics is so little. GUG does a more comprehensive job and in a more interesting manner. teachers are better too. but zoophonics admin is better than gug.
Most prob will stop GUG in Dec 07. she has been attending gug 2x weekly.

going back to GUG? hehehe.. we will be out after this term.. no more wkend classes for ger.. will be attending Nursery 1 daily classes at Zoophonics.. but not sure if she is ok with attending class alone, so will try for a month, if really cant, will switch back too zoo tods class which is twice a wk accompanied by adult.

3 years old = playgroup = nursery 1
but cos most of our babies are dec babies, so 2007 they all like just 2 years old to us.. kekeke.. but all this go by year and not by month lor.. so 2007, our babies are considered qualified for nursery 1 liao.. keke..

elmobbger is right. our tods can officially start N1 in 2007, but becos they are dec babies, they start N1 at only 2years 1 month. Still very "babyish" to me leh.

so i intend to let dean start only at 2.5years or N2 at 3 years.

somemore the kindy i'm going to register with needs all tods to be toilet-trained!

Rachel attend zoophonics at Thomson. Think they have 3 location, thomson,Jurong &amp; bukit timah. Their program was quite disppointing, not much focus on phonics, same songs evey week, activities not really interesting and no letter of the day. Rachel din learn much there. Lucky only sign up for a month.
GUG is more interesting, there's letter of the day and word blend.

Yah, agree that they are more responsive now and much more interesting, esp when they learn to talk, can be real funny sometime. Rae still so chubby, so cute! What's her weight now? Rachel about 12.5kg, start to lose some baby fat already.

yah loh, still feel GUG is the best. Actually, i also not sure if Rachel can attending class alone next year or not. But got to let them try then will know.

yuppe.. jurong branch.. dont know leh but my ger fits in zoophonics more than GUG leh.. at zoophonics, she walk around and respond to teacher and even go round calling other bbs' ah ma.. but at GUG, she just refuse to mix around.. and scared of going to the teacher.. so no choice, we decided to put her in a class that she is comfortable with..

I think at zoophonics, tots have the freedom to move around but in GUG there's more serious learning and teachers want them to sit down most of the time. Rachel also walks freely during zoo class and feel more at ease, but i feel she's not learning much loh.
I must learn from your mum and start brainwash rachel now. Everytime i ask her whether she wants to go school, she will shake her head and give a big "NO". Think she will sure cry also.
