Hi Jolene - There is one Enopi Maths center near my place. I think its teaching prog is somehow similar to MPM, except that it originates from Korea and I was told that the kids can keep the worksheet after completing them. I did not choose Enopi Maths as I was not comfortable with that center environment - a bit small and dim.
Yes, I think understanding the concepts is the most important steps in maths. My exboss told me her daughter, also like mine, very weak in maths concepts (failed her P1 maths exams). She attended Kumon since K2, but not much improvement as she was very slow in class. Currently she is in P3, still doing Kumon (as she needs a lot of practice to stick the ideas in her brain). However, he also engaged a private Maths tutor for her. He said so far, her maths test is around 60-70 marks, which is considered good. At least, she has not failed any papers. He is unable to tell whether it is Kumon or private tutor that helps, or is it due to her logical thinking skills development. But so long as she does not fail her maths exams, he is willing to let her continue both Kumon and private tuition.
