A new mother who has just given birth deserves nothing short of the best treatment and all 10 maternity hospitals in Singapore agree. Since we first wrote about Singapore hospital maternity packages in 2011, maternity packages have levelled up tremendously: from sprawling suites that promise the most comfortable postnatal recovery to complimentary candlelight dinners for new parents. Some hospitals even offer programmes to calm baby-related anxieties which new dads might have! If you are currently expecting, take a look at what these 10 hospital maternity packages offer parents-to-be. Oh, and congratulations on the pregnancy!
1. Gleneagles Hospital
The maternity suites at Gleneagles Hospital create a truly unparalleled experience for a new mother. After birthing a baby, you may want to treat yourself to luxurious surroundings that ensure complete tranquility as well as privacy. How about doing that in the personalised luxury of the Tanglin Suite (above) at Gleneagles? You can sit back and enjoy a range of professional maternity services such as private nursing care and a complimentary baby bath.
At 100 square metres, the Tanglin Suite is incredibly spacious – it features a patient room, a lodger room, as well as a hallway. Room amenities include an automatic drapery system, a writing desk, sofa bed, DVD player, mini fridge, Nespresso machine and even a kimono for you to look elegant in for post-delivery photos with Baby!

2. KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital
The Delivery Suite at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital (KKH) has 28 private delivery rooms – each furnished with a single bed, attached bathroom with shower facilities, a sofa bed, and a telephone to keep anxious family members updated on Baby’s arrival. You can choose to stay in the hospital’s Class A single-bed wards, with tastefully furnished air-conditioned rooms, an attached bathroom, wardrobe, a sofa bed, a telephone, mini fridge, personal safe, television set and daily delivery of a newspaper.
Lactation consultants will also be on hand to provide complimentary care and familiarise you with breastfeeding techniques. KKH’s nurses also conduct ParentCraft classes by the new mother’s bedside. Mothers staying in Class A and B1 wards may also opt for the confinement meal menu, as well as red date tea or ginger tea.
The wonderful ward nurses might also surprise you with a small celebration if you happen to be celebrating your birthday during your maternity stay at KKH. At a convenient time for you, they might turn up at your bedside with a birthday cake, card and a birthday song! How sweet!

3. Mount Alvernia Hospital
The Family Suite @Our Lady Ward features a separate and spacious guest lounge area that can be converted into a companion’s sleeping area. Mount Alvernia Hospital‘s menus for the new mother offer a choice of confinement food or a selection from Chinese, Malay/Indian, and Western cuisine served right at your bedside. If you are in need of some entertainment, turn to the flat screen television with 17 TV and cable channels, or play your favourite movie on the DVD console.
The hospital also provides rooming-in service for new parents to get to know their new bundle of joy’s feeding and sleeping patterns better. A toiletry pouch consisting of shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, shower cap and face towel will be provided when you check-in, so you won’t have to worry about having left out any toiletries in your packing list!

4. Mount Elizabeth Hospital
The Daffodil Suite (above) at Mount Elizabeth Hospital is specially designed to meet women’s post-birthing needs in a luxurious setting. You can even opt for a romantic celebration dinner or a cocktail reception to welcome your new baby! Care services include a 24-hour private nurse, a post-natal confinement menu, a 15-minute head and shoulder massage for the new mother, personalised hands-on bathing demonstration and coaching, a customised breastfeeding session as well as a newborn screening and hearing test.
Curious about the luxury factor here? You will be welcomed with cookies and longan or ginger tea upon check-in. There’s complimentary parking for one vehicle throughout the package length of stay plus lodging and meals for the companion. You can pamper yourself with a complimentary hair spa, manicure or pedicure session as well! Oh, and have we mentioned that you and bub can head home in style? 5. Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital
There are only Single Rooms and Junior Suites for mums-to-be to choose from at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. You can look forward to recuperating in privacy and comfort with your family in a premium boutique environment. The Junior Suites, with their adjoining living rooms and outdoor terrace, will provide ample space for your loved ones to welcome the newest addition to the family. The rooms and suites both feature individual temperature control, a 46-inch LED television with in-room entertainment system, and premium bath amenities. You will get to use a tablet with mobile web surfing and built-in universal remote control when you stay in a Junior Suite.

6. National University Hospital
When you opt for a stay at the Deluxe or A class maternity wards at National University Hospital, you will be offered a complimentary butler service. How cool is that! What falls under butler services? Basic sewing repairs, booking of taxis for when you are discharged, hair washing and blowing, ironing, laundry (additional charges apply), shoe polishing and even packing and unpacking of your belongings! How’s that for pampering, mum-to-be?
A romantic candlelight dinner for you and your partner to celebrate the arrival of your little one is also part of the package. Room amenities include a flat-screen television, telephone, bar fridge, toiletries and daily newspapers. During your stay, the maternity ward will also provide you with educational programmes covering topics such as bath demonstration, baby care, breastfeeding tips and parental infant emotional support.
The postnatal menus offered include Chinese, Muslim, Western, Chef’s Specials and Vegetarian cuisine which will be served at your bedside. Confinement soup will also be served with your meals.

7. Parkway East Hospital
Feel right at home at a Deluxe Room (above) at Parkway East Hospital once you have given birth. The space comes with ample amenities and the convenience of processing your discharge from hospital right at your bedside. Deluxe Room features include a maternity menu, a luxurious and comfortable lounge sofa for hubby who, a flat-screen television with over 20 cable channels, and an adjoining bathroom.
The hospital serves a delicious and nutritious halal menu of confinement dishes that will aid in new mama’s postnatal recovery. Inspired by traditional confinement recipes, you will find familiar ingredients like sesame oil, ginger, black vinegar, eggs, red dates, chicken and fish on the menu! ParentCraft classes that will cover skills such as bathing, caring for baby’s umbilical cord stump, breastfeeding and burping of babies will be available to you during your maternity stay. 8. Raffles Hospital
At Raffles Hospital, you can request for the post-delivery confinement menu during admission, and also consider getting the celebratory dinner package (at an additional cost) with the hubs to commemorate the arrival of your little one. Proud new mummies can also remember baby’s birth with The First Step of Life by Best Imprezzione – an individually hand crafted mould of your newborn’s tiny hands or feet coated in industrial gold or 24 carat gold (separate charges apply)!
The new mother will be provided with a basic toiletries pack, disposable bedroom slippers (Single, Deluxe Rooms and Suites) as well as a breast pump upon request — at no additional charge. Experienced staff will provide ParentCraft lessons on bathing newborns and changing diapers. Senior Lactation Consultants will also make regular rounds to guide mothers on proper breastfeeding techniques.
A comprehensive six-lesson Antenatal Course for couples wanting to know what to expect during pregnancy and how to take care of their newborns has been introduced recently. New parents who want to enhance the bonding process with their babies can sign up for a five-lesson Infant Massage Course conducted by Raffles Hospital’s in-house Certified Infant Massage Instructors.

Brand new services which new mothers can look forward to at the Singapore General Hospital include a nutritious confinement menu crafted with care by its dieticians, breastfeeding and counselling support from certified in-house lactation consultants as well as same-site birth registration of newborns. It’s also good to know that the hospital is part of the WHO Baby Friendly Hospital initiative, a proven quality improvement accreditation process to increase breastfeeding amongst new mothers. The ultimate aim? To promote healthier mummies and babies, of course!
The delivery suites at Singapore General Hospital have also been newly renovated so you can recuperate in utmost comfort when you opt for one of the maternity packages here.

10. Thomson Medical Centre
All mothers who deliver at Thomson Medical Centre in 2016 will be offered the Mummy’s Pampering Luggage to ensure a hassle-free stay after baby arrives. It’s packed with love for your amazing new journey with your little one! The four-wheeled hard-case cabin luggage contains a kimono robe, feminine cleansing set, body wipes, breast pads, cosy slippers, overnight pads, a waterproof wet bag, magazine, document holder, a “Tai mao bi” voucher, and diapers for your newborn. Rest assured, you won’t have to fret over what to pack before you check-in!
The Soups-for-Moms programme ensures that nutritious confinement soup will be served to you during your stay. The hospital also offers complimentary classes for new parents. Hands-on baby bathing demonstrations and breastfeeding classes which are conducted by ParentCraft specialists take place on a daily basis, except on Sundays and public holidays.
