Hi raspy, My gal also has horrible cough & lotsa phlegm, all thanks to a 'buay-zi-dong' MIL who refused to wear a face mask when she herself is so sickly. May i know the name of your cough medicine that your doctor prescribed? I tried to buy those generic kids' cough syrup from Guardian...

Stefie, well said. Some of us do need time-off from our bubs to maintain some form of sanity, and to interact within the adult world. And we will accumulate more love & misses for our precious when we come back to them. I, for one, cannot do the same things 24-hours a day. So even if I...

My baby once she wakes up, her crying n yelling starts. Only 1% of the time she will wake up without creating a ruckus. Asking her to play quietly alone or self-entertain works for maybe, 30seconds. So me & maid very bo-eng. If I go out, then I pity my poor maid. How many of your babies...

PSH, Thanks for the links. But it is very difficult for me to implement some of the tips as I have meddlesome ILs that will come running in if baby starts crying in the middle of the night. They are the very-against-not-feeding-baby type (their first thoughts will be 'Baby is hungry that's why...

Mrs Ang, rainbow & Oshgosh, My baby also doesn't sleep through the night. My definition of sleeping through is from 9pm-7pm. She will still wake up 1-2 times in the middle of the night for milk feeds. My other frens' babies either can be patted back to sleep or just drink some water. But...

Re: Yoghurt, I do not specifically scout around for 'baby' yoghurt. I just buy whatever that comes in mini-tub packs (usually 6 in a pack) for easy feeding & minimal wastage. I will read the ingredients & if I see HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, then it is a no no for me. It is generally bad...

Re: Sending our babies to school Reading about Alexis in IFC & the things she has learnt how to do & the positive way she behaves just made me more determined to send my gal to some playgroup at 18months. Like what some mummies here mentioned & are concerned about, MIL/FIL...

Hi mummies who feed babies dragonfruit to reduce constipation, do you choose the ones with the white flesh inside or the red flesh? Can the black 'seeds' inside be eaten too? Thanks.

Hi ladies, Talking about schools, before I had a kid, I used to roll my eyes & wonder why parents are so kiasu as to send their kids to school even before they barely turn 2. Now that I am in this position myself, I more or less understand why. Most parents rationalize that they will...

Muddypaws, I see you have great help from your maid, and Liz is receptive to many foods. Good for you! My helper is not too bad, but alot of foodie things she takes instructions from me, but me also quite clueless when it comes to preparing porridge/solids etc. Glad to learn some tips from all...

Dewdew, haha, I laughed when you stressed it is UE Square NOT United Square. I went for the 16th JWT class kindly organised by cherrry, & it was last minute that I realised it was UE Square. I even told my husband to pick me up from United Square. Luckily I did not take cab all the way to...

Dec mum/whisp, Both of u are not crazy. I have the same feelings n thoughts too. I hate to have my baby close to my ILs, or anyone from their side (except hubby). I would rather her be close to me, my mum/mum's side, & sometimes even the maid than my inlaws. But I no choice have to live...

Bbribena, I read with horror that your geh-kiang MIL wanna feed seafood soup to Leah. My fren's 1yr+ baby was fed abit of prawn & 15mins later immediately broke out in rashes n swells. Some babies may get allergic for many years if fed inappropriate foods too early. And also poo doesn't lie...

Roz, wau lau!!! Did you check your sent mail to see if your girl sent your showering photo to anyone?!?! This kind of episode always reminds me of the Edison Chen fiasco 3 years ago. If anyone got 'secret' photos in hp, DO NOT lose it or send for repairs!!!! Talking about the Japanese, there...

Mangogal, thx for d link on baby-led weaning. I have read it, it sounds interesting. But MIL will nvr allow cos she will say baby will choke on those food if she feeds herself. I can predict what she will say. Roz, CANNOT use any frozen veg puree. MIL said CANNOT use anything frozen cos will...

Roz, the MIL wants to cook the food for hours n hours inside a pot until it gets totally mushy. Our fast & modern ang-moh way of doing things doesn't sit well with old pp like her. I, for one, ain't gonna wake up at 3am in the morning just to prepare baby's lunch. She can do it if she wants.

Mummies, pls advise whether blending steamed baby food using blender will introduce 'wind' into it? MIL insists that my 6mth old baby will get colic again, if food is prepared this way.
