The November-December school holidays are the best time for play because they come after the end of the academic year. Here’s some of the fun the kids can have this November and December. Let them play; they deserve to!
Yay! Another school year has come to an end and it’s time to play. There are holiday activities galore to enjoy this year-end and we’ve sorted them out by date (earliest first) for you. Go through our picks with the kids, let the choose those they’d like to attend, and then you, mum, can sit back and relax while they’re off having fun. It’s a win-win situation, we say!

1. Camp overnight with Wildlife

Wildlife Reserves Singapore has hands-on learning camps every school holiday. They’re really popular and the Sleep with the Beasts one is already sold out for this year. Not to worry, there are eight other camps that still have availability – Be A Junior Avian Keeper (29 Nov), Sleep with the Manatees Camp (1-2 Dec), and Sleep with the Penguins (8-9 Dec) – among others. Camps include guided behind-the-scenes tours and hands-on activities that will give kids an up close and personal experience with the animals. They’re lots of fun; sign up quick!

2. Learn to Play a New Sport
Ready Steady Go Kids has customised sport camps with a create-your-own concept so your kids can choose the sport they want to learn. With a minimum number of six children in a group, little ones aged between 3 to 7 years old can pick up and practice a variety of sports. Options include soccer, tennis, basketball, hockey, golf, Australian football, rugby, athletics, cricket, and t-ball. Quote “SGMOTHER” when signing up to get a 10% discount.

3. Join an Interest Group
Older children looking for their tribe? A place to meet fellow enthusiasts? Check out PA Water Venture (Sembawang), which is coordinating meetings for enthusiasts of Outdoor activities, Gardening, and Astronomy to meet and network. Kids have to be 13 years old and above, and parents are welcome to attend as well.

4. Explore Filial Piety as a Family
We parents want to nurture our little ones to grow up to be good people and filial children. Not sure how to do that? Start by enrolling them in this holiday camp by Blossom World where participants explore the concept of filial piety though stories and drama. Campers will receive a camp handbook, two lunches, four refreshments, a T-shirt, and a goodie bag each. The camp, which will be conducted in English and Mandarin, is suitable for children aged 8 to 12 years old.

5. Get Active at SuperPark Singapore
The brainchild of a Finnish dad who was looking for a way to entertain his daughter, SuperPark Singapore is a huge indoor playground – nearly 40,000 square feet – with over 20 activities such as Flying Fox (zip wires), Street Basketball, a Skate and Scoot World to play in, and more. Want to challenge yourself further? Check out the iWall, SuperClimb, and Ninja Track. All the games have experienced supervisors, and are open to all age groups. 6. Grow a Green Thumb
Be a Garden Trooper at Gardens by the Bay and learn about plants through games and activities. What’s looking mighty interesting this year? A Play-Date with Plants for 5 to 6 year olds (a parent-and-child programme), Green Encounters! for 7 to 9 year olds, and My Outdoor Adventures! for 10 to 12 year olds. 7. Escape from Fearsome River Creatures
Do the kids like escape room games? Then they’ll love the River Safari Lockdown, where they get to be adventurers stuck in time, and have to escape before fearsome river creatures devour them. Escape in time to get a pin of honour! This is a collaboration with Lockdown Singapore, which will be giving out special goodie bags on the first weekend. Grab a team of six and sign up. You have two hours to complete the game, and the clock starts now!

8. Play some Music and Solve a Murder
The NUS Alumni Orchestra (NAO) is presenting an interactive orchestra performance for kids. Titled “Who Killed the Composer”, the first half of the show has narrated music about the investigation of a murder mystery. In the second half of the show, children will get to try out different orchestral instruments and play with them. This hour-long workshop (no intermission) is suitable for families with children aged 3 years and above.

9. Get Bendy with Yoga
The family that does yoga together finds mindfulness together. Start on that journey at the Indian Festival of Arts where there is are introductory parent-and-child yoga classes. This 90-minute yoga session (including breaks) is suitable for children aged 5 years and above, and an accompanying adult aged 16 and above. Please bring your own yoga mats (one for each person).

10. Investigate Crime Scenes
Explorer Junior brings your little aspiring detectives an action-packed two-day workshop to investigate and solve a mystery. Kids will learn fingerprinting, paper chromatography, sample examination, the art of deciphering secret messages, and more. Suitable for children 3 to 6 years old.

11. Do Drama & Art
NAFA holiday workshops are hot hot hot so sign up quick for the various four-to-five-day Junior Art Vacation Programmes for children aged between 5 and 16 years old. Younger one can create glowing monsters, learn Chinese ink painting, and even create their own clay Pokemon characters. Older ones can create a wire relief and a plaster bandage wreath for the coming Christmas season, try portrait drawing, and more.

12. Be a Scientist for a Week
Mad Science joins hands with Kidz Amaze of SAFRA to host a series of camps for 5 to 12 year olds. The Flight Academy Camp explores aerodynamics and how things fly. The Junior Occupations Camp experiments with all things scientific. And the Mad Science Investigators Camps explores out how scientific phenomena happen. All camps include time to play at Kidz Amaze indoor playground so we’re sure kids will approve! Lunch is provided so they don’t go hungry halfway.

13. Let your Inner Artist out
Children are encouraged to explore different ways of creating art in this two-day camp by Artify. Different mediums and techniques will be used, including acrylic paint, watercolour paint, pencils, foam pads, wooden blocks, wooden Russian dolls, kraft papers, newspaper shreds, and matchboxes. 14. Get ballsy with Tennis
Tennis is a great sport to develop coordination, determination, and grit on and off the court. Give your child a taste of the game at Ignite Tennis Academy’s holiday camps for children. 15. Sail the High Seas

16. Learn Lots at Lots of Workshops
The CDAC regularly conducts school holiday programmes that enrich children from K1 to Secondary 5 levels. This holiday they have some new ones such as Grammar & Vocabulary English programme from The Boss Baby and Fantastic Beasts; Financial Literacy in Chinese; a workshop by a famous local picture-book author: Ah Guo’s Art Workshops; Barista Experience; Chinese Ink Painting – Goldfish Fan; and K-pop Dancing. They sure do sound interesting, don’t they, and they’re really affordable too! If your child is new to CDAC workshops, bring his/her BC when signing up at CDA centres. Membership is free.

17. Get Dramatic with “Shoo Shoes”
Even the littlest among us can also join in the school holiday fun with ACT3’s parent-and-child workshops where they’ll learn through music, movement, storytelling and sensory play. Titled “Shoo Shoes”, this interactive single session workshop lasts for 45 minutes and is suitable for children 7 to 17 months old. 18. Be a Wild Thing

19. Study ancient Greek Inventions

21. Learn the Intricacies of Indian Dance

23. Save the Dinosaurs

24. Speak Like a Professional
The ability to convey your opinion clearly and effectively to public is an important soft skill that kids of this generation need to develop. 28. Sing along with Musical Taru
