Hi , I’m TTC and isn’t successful for the longest time . Gyne suggested IUi . Very taboo topic amidst my peers so hoping to get some insights here .

Do you have any health issues? I personally find IUI a waste of time and money and would go straight to IVF. But it also depends on how old you are. If time is not a factor then yes, do try IUI first.

I just started my first iui cycle. Decided to do this first before resorting to ivf as I don’t think i’ll be able to go through all the injections before I fall apart mentally.

But everyone has a different reason behind why they have been unsuccessful when ttc. So i’m not sure if our opinions matter as much.

If you are able to bd comfortably but yet still unsuccessful, then maybe ivf is more suitable.

Best to investigate root cause.

Full blood test done , no existing health issue . I’m gg 30 this year .

have been trying for 4 months too.. been taking blackmores conceive well 4 months as well.

may i know where you guys go for the gynae checkup? and how to start the iui process? my period used to be irregular when i was in my teens but i started taking evening primrose oil in my 20s and it became more regular (+/- 1 week)

In that case, should try IUI first since you are young. If time is a factor I'd suggest IVF but in this case, it's not.
I was saying about the time factor because personally I wished I had done IVF sooner. I started doing at 35 and my egg quality was poor. I did 3 times (BFP first time) and the last time I didn't even have any embryo.

Hi all

Anyone with secondary infertility experience?

My hubby and I have been trying for our 2nd kid for more than a year now. We went for checkups recently and found that both our fertility health has declined (PCOS and poor sperm shape). Our fertility doc has started us on a series of meds/ vitamins and suggested we try a few rounds naturally before we go to IUI, then few rounds of IUI before IVF.

This is the 3rd month of trying naturally. I’ve done clomid, letrozole..did gonal F jabs this month, but based on the PMS cramps I’m having right now I doubt it was successful. Hubby has been on vitamins too.

Am thinking if this round fails, should we go directly to IVF instead of IUI? I’m turning 32 and he is 35.

The doc said not to let this process consume our lives but personally I feel extremely down and drained from just trying. It’s also been hard to talk about cos most people won’t feel there’s anything wrong with us since we are already parents. The guilt for not being to give my firstborn a sibling is also very real.

Hoping to seek some advice here. TIA

Haven’t tested since 10dpo where I got a bfn.

Af is due today but no signs yet. Dh is asking me to hold off testing so as not to jinx everything. Gonna wait a few more days to see if af comes.

Anyone in the TWW now? Im 4dpiui today, no symptoms and going crazy with the long wait~~~~~ so hard to not think abt it!

Hi, I am also 4dpiui.

Symptoms after iui:
- light cramping for first few days. Cramp gets a little stronger today. This seems to be the same as the past after intercourse. Guess this cramp to expel sperms out?

- have diarrhoea every day after almost every meal. The nurse said is due to antibiotics. True enough, diarrhoea stops right after I finished the antibiotics

-my tongue is feeling bitter. Not sure if it is due the medications given by doc. I don't know how to swallow pills hence I always bite or grind them first.

It is so hard to differentiate If it is pregnancy symptoms or not :(

Antibiotic is given cos washed sperm may still contain some harmful chemicals.

I have to eat pro uro, duphaston and Prednisolone(9 days).

Don't lose hope. Symptoms don't come so early.

Consider TCM to regulate your menses and also to strengthen your womb

Hi Ladies,

I am new here and i have been ttc #2 with my husband for 3.5 years. Recently I have raised out my concern and i told him that why not we do a fertility test at KKH but he refused too. He replied to me is: if have is good, if don't have also nvm and he doesnt want to have stress on these issue. But I can feel his disappointment every month whenever my menses came. Anyone of you have encounter these issue before? Whereas the husband refused to do the fertility test.

Hi hi I faced the same rejection initially when I asked my hubby about going for fertility check. I guess not everyone (esp men) are receptive to do such test, feeling shy, or brushing their ego, thinking that we are doubting their "ability".

I took some time to convince him and I just done mine last week at TMC. I shown him articles about why fertility check is good, at least we know our problems (if any) and can treat it accordingly. Slowly. Talk to him during casual chat then slowly bring in this topic.

Hihi Hazelnut, I was just bring up this topic to him this morning and he was still rejected me. He told me that we can be good without kid too. Haiz... I was so upset and being hurt. My friend suggested me to go TCM to tiao my body first or go for fertility check without him. I guess these are the only things I can do now. =(

I was telling him that the fertility check is like doing a body check up and so we could know our problem and we can treat it by medicine or any treatment. He didn't buy that idea of taking medicine would help and saying that taking these medicine will have side effect. Going for treatment like iui & ivf is definitely a NO to him. Hais... I don't know what can I do to convince him and also change his mind

Actually for guys, they do not need to do much if there is an issue to them unless their sperm count is zero. The most they will eat 1 type of medicine and some supplements. Natural remedy will be to eat more seafood.

The wife is the one who has to do more check ups. If u are willing to go for it, then you should try to see if you can overcome his barrier. It is not going to be easy to do this alone.

There are risks and rewards in every aspects of life. Just like how we enjoy eating unhealthy food knowing that it may cause cancer, high blood pressure etc. We are aware of the side effects but we still eat it. What we can do is take in moderation and eat some healthy food to balance it out.

This is similar to the fertility treatments. You are not going to do it all the time. Maybe u can check online to see what kind of side effects you may deal with and if you are ok with it. After that talk to him.

Perhaps u and him are perfectly fine but is due to timing issue? Then side effect issue will no longer be the concern. Isn't it better to just to produce the sperm and some blood for the test as compared to the wife nagging and bugging from time to time?

Hope ur husband can change his mind and join you for the checks :)

Agreed with Valerie33. It's not easy to do alone. The fertility check for men is only the sperm analysis. Blood test and scan is on the woman. At least from the test, the doc can advise whether is the sperm issue or its woman's issue to recommend what's need to improve to resolve.

Is he a ego man? I think give him some time. Find a good timing that u both are more relax to talk about the topic on having kids, start the topic lightly on how nice to have your own kids then slowly bring toward the topic of having kids. Then share with him how much u wanted to bear him a child, his own child. Talk nicely. I hope that will helps.

I also took few months to convince my hubby. Jia you!

Also to add on, its actually quite a common thing now. When I was at the clinic last week, its pack with many couples.

But, have u ask him, if he want a kid? I think this is impt to know for a start.

Hi Ladies, thank you for the encouragement. My husband indeed pride and ego as he is a successful business men. He had heard his friend or colleague told him the procedure before, it was an awkward experience. We have always ended up this topic unhappily. I also asked him before, are you serious about it and do you really want a kid, his replied is always don't have also nvm or if I too stress then don't try it.

Hais...guess I will just leave it to fate or go for tcm to tiao my body first.

@hazelnut_80 I am so glad your husband willing to give way and do the test with you. This is a very good start, jiayou on your tcc journey =)

Hi Wantabb, thank you for your kind words! I used a long time to slowly convince him. This is just the beginning. I also hope all will be well. :)

Jia you for u too! Dont be discourage. Do bit by bit within your means now.

Hi all,
I’m new here. Am 35 this year and ttc #2. Had a miscarriage early last year.

I’m keen to try out IUI and read that Govt will fund IUI with effect 1 Jan 2020. Does it mean that the fertility assessment can only be scheduled on or subsequent to 1 Jan 2020 in order to qualify for the subsidy?

Hi,

I’m new to the thread. Me and my wife have been TTC for the past 8 months, but unable to do so. Initially, I went for sperm test and apparently, my morphology is less than 2%. and Started “Self Medicating”, eating more anti-oxident, blah blah. But still no results.

We went to Dr Tan Kien Sing @ Clementi for 3 months, every single time, there’s always acupuncture or medication prescribed. As a male, I was given some pills, 冬虫夏草,ginseng all these.

I not sure how do we track progress. Like mentioned, most of the time, me and my wife are spending ~$200/visit. Excluding those checkup that doctor require my wife to return, we’ve spent close to $900 in 3 months.

just like to understand, at what point do we seek alternative? Or are we getting impatient?

Has your wife gone for fertility tests too? I would say there is no harm in seeking opinion from fertility specialist , whether public hospital or private. Cos when it comes to fertility, time and age matters a lot. Not to rush you guys or anything. But fertility doc can also give you an assessment on how much longer to TTC naturally or when to try assisted methods.

Thanks for the suggestion. We asked the TCM Dr Tan. He mentioned maybe try another month before seeking fertility check, eg Fallopian tube test all these.
Reason being, the cost and complexity of various checks.
Do you have any advise or recommendation for the female fertility check? I know there’s a Tow Yung Clinic. Not sure if recommended.

Did the doc gives u any medicine to boost morphology? Doc said there are cases whereby morphology of 1% or 0% also can conceive naturally.

You can take fertility package for both of u at a special rates offered by various hospitals. Maybe u can choose the doc which u prefer to go with in case u need to go for fertility assisted techniques after that

Hi My hub and I are trying to TTC for 3years. We have seen Gynae + TCM for 1 year but still no good news. Can add me in the watsapp support group. Thanks.

My hub sperm morphology is also around 2%. He has been eating supplements from gynae + TCM but this morphology is still the same. However his healthy sperms have increased from 1.8mil to 4.5mil. Gynae told us it's normal as couple still can conceive. However we had our 2nd SO-IUI result still not successful. Though I thought this cycle there will be higher chance as I have 4 follicles + high sperm count. I am thinking is it my mental stress that causes it to be negative. Two weeks waiting for the result is abit stressful until I can't really sleep well. Anyway we are meeting doctor to advise us what should be the next step. You have been TTC for 8mths i think u might want to give yourself a year, don't stress yourself. I have friends ttc for 14 mths and she is pregnant. For me I have been ttc for 2years and we started to see gynae 1 year ago. We started from natural (gynae will scan to see the optimal size of the egg then tell us the right time to do it) Then I realised I have no ovulation which needs the hcg trigger shot. Then next step is IUI... I think stress really plays a part. Now I try to be positive if don't have try again next mth. it will come one day just dunno when hahaha
