mine is at springleaf. Have a few sets of tensai cards handed down from my niece, so will start with those. Just started schichida lesssons 3 weeks ago so have not started the home sessions yet. very lazy mummy. Have got s friend who did about 5000 flash cards for her son, a lot of work...
Im very new to Shichida, heard many good reviews and would like to know more about what goes on in the lessons? Also, do you think its a good idea if I just learn what is done at shichida and buy the materials and do it at home myself for my boy? Would it be just as effective? Else, what is a good mth to let my boy (jus turned 5mths) try out shichida?
I have been doing GD mtd for him since birth, now on the Maths dot program, but understand shichida has a different maths program too, so will the 2 programs clash with each other?
No prob ... actually your bb so young can flash him/her the normal flash cards on Animals/ Trabsportation / Numbers etc from Popular Book store. Last time, i bought and did that for my gal since she was 6 mths old. They can absorb ... Its only a few dollars per set
i asked the sinsei before, til the bb find it boring (eg distracted) then we start new ones.
You can also asked the sinseh how to flash the the maths cards since your bb not keen.. Maybe we got to make it interesting. I read in the PEC guide on the Q&A : "What happens if my child is not interested to see the dots cards?"it states "
Your child is already familar with the info. try to use the 5 min suggestion method to improve his behaviour and raise his liking for the dots program.try to flash the cards with other flash cards and not do the 65 day maths program alone by itself. "
dunno if can help you...can try. Or talk to the sinseh and hear her suggestions
Yea, i tried the 5 min suggestions to improve her behaviour but to no vail. I also tried flashing with other cards so that she wont be bored.
Maybe i should try to be patient and keep trying
Grateful for your feedback. I find the sensei nt v helpful. Maybe everytime when the class ends at 5+, she is eager to go home ba. haa
yes...i think as parents if we are determined and with a sincere heart, we can do it...i think also as kids its a from time to time kind of behaviour. good luck!
you can PM me , i will see where its convenient for both of us...
ALso i happen to be on leave today and found this website that can download for free flash cards, powerpoint learning materials. Includes electronics flashcards. Its free , unlike the esl-library where need to pay.
I also initally wanted to send my son there, but it is too ex and i wonder if my son can absorb now if he join or just wasting money. Some mummies say it will help, some give negative remarks. Me confused myself.
Hi! My girl is not with Shichida, but I'm interested to see what can I get for my girl, 21 mth at tensai store.
May I know Shichida tensai store is it open for public or only for parents with kids in shichida?
Both Anson and HDB hub have tensai store?
Both Toa Payoh and Springleaf hv Tensai stores. I guess if you just want to see what things they sell, shld be ok to pop into the store. However if you want to purchase the things, your child needs to be enrolled in the Shichida programme or you can ask parents whose kids are in the programme to help you buy.
Im curious... how do you guys make your own flashcards? If for A5 size, you print on paper and stick to thicker cards? Tried to print direct to thicker papers but apparently that will damage my printer very fast. The GD mtd dictates that the flashcards have to be a certain dimensions, which obviously does not make it feasible to print as per above. So what do you do? Tried to ask professional printers to print but they are quoting $0.90/pc cheapest!! IF you are writing where do you get the cards to write? Cut from vanguard sheets?
The flashcards that are available for downloads are in PDF format- meaning die die cannot alter right? But they come with the brillkids logos. Read somewhere that training of dunno right of left brain, the picture cannot be with words -so the brillkids logo will affect the learning?
Very kan cheong now, cos seems like time running out with my baby rching 11mths aldy then i start to read on these!!
Just to share that my girl has been attending Little Neuro Tree at Parkway Parade shopping mall since Jan this year. She has been showing great improvement both in her concentration as well as the many class activities done in 3 lanaguages.
Previously, we attended a term of shichida and they changed her teacher few times within a term plus it's v commercialised there, unlike little neuro tree.
Anyway, do check out Little Neuro Tree newly setup blog-spot below for more info:
My kid is slightly delayed in speech & low in learning concentration. Does Shichida help?
Besides card flashing, what are the techniques they use?
I heard the turnover rate of teacher in Shichida is high. I believe it will affect the child learning. Anyone can tell me the teachers there are patient enough?
Thanks for your all help & advise.
thanks icyclaw for giving another ideas.
My child does not have the brain damage problem after doctor's diagnosis. But I'll go for the book tt u recommended to see any method worth to try.
Besides little neuro tree & Shichida, any other centre tt can really help for child concentration & speech?
Val, im not trying to imply that ur kid has brain damage. i meant that since GD's mtd can even help brain damaged kids, ur kid who has only slightly speech delay and low concentration prob shld be able to get more efficient help? Just thinking aloud...
Maybe u can also try to talk to GD Singapore since they recently invited Janet Domann to talk to brain damaged parents.
Just to share, i let my gal attend a semester of neuro tree when she was around 17mths old cos that is the minimum to sign up for to try. I stopped aft that cos i find the presence of the other parents who keep feeding their kids with snacks to keep them from making noise very distracting for the my gal. Also find that the time frame given for the kids to complete the activities unrealistic which prompt parents to help the kids complete the activities instead rather than have the kids explore and complete them on their own...
My child has been with shichida for more than two years now. He had just one change in teacher and I believe that was related to the poaching of staff for LNT. We have been very happy with the current teacher who has been teaching DS for the past two years.
The program does help with a child's concentration and the activities are designed for parent/child interaction. As a parent I think it is very helpful as it helps me understand my child's development.
Some of my friend'd drop out after a term or two as they feel their child lack concentration. But from my observation, children's behaviour change all the time, they should be able to sit through the whole session most of the time but do not expect them to be quiet or still. this is especially through when they go through stages like starting to walk and later talk. It is just a natural development.
as for disruptive parents, the teacher will talk to them after a few sessions esp if there is feedback from other parents in the room.
I am very impressed with the children's ability. For parents who do it at home without attending the sessions, the result should be achievable too. But for me, I want DS to know what other children can achieve so he can learn positively in a group setting. And most importantly I lack the discipline to do all the material.
thanks icyclaw & cookie. I know icyclaw does not have bad intention.
I think i will go for Shichida first as i believe tt my child will be more discipline in learning since she will see a lot of friends learning together with her. At the same time, i'll see the book GD to see any good recommendation which worth to try.
any updates on Shichida. Called a few times, were asked to leave message and they will call back but didn't. And with the founder embroiled in some lawsuit ?? Not sure if this is the place to go anymore..
Hi Can anyone please remind me what the deposit was for the Shichida class? I informed the management that I didn't want to continue and they refunded me $300. Is this correct? I lost my receipt and can't remember what I paid for the deposit. Emailing management takes ages to respond, if they bother at all. Thanks for any input.
I am selling shichida
