We recently graduated from our 2-month confinement, and I absolutely have to share a recommendation for our wonderful nanny. She is officially retired and only takes assignments through personal referrals, but she was such a blessing to our family that I wanted to pass it on.
Here is why we loved her:
1. Pure Love for Baby: She truly adores my boy. She talks to him constantly just like he understands her, which was so sweet to watch. My baby started coo-ing at the 1 month mark thanks to her constant communication
2. Incredibly Patient with Feeding: I was constantly juggling between deciding to direct breastfeed or do exclusive pumping. She never pressured me and was always so patient—willingly letting me try to breastfeed first before she stepped in with the bottle.
3. Next-Level Cook (Yes, she makes CHILI CRAB! ): Her traditional confinement food is incredible (pig’s vinegar trotters and pig stomach soup are amazing). But the ultimate bonus? Her non-confinement cooking is restaurant-quality. She spoiled us with Penang Laksa, Penang Char Kway Teow, and even cooked a delicious Chili Crab from scratch!
4. Respects Your Choices: I wanted no traditional herbs and daily showers. While she gave me a little bit of classic, loving "auntie nagging," she completely respected my decisions.
She also willingly cooked for my helper, husband and 3 year old toddler. My toddler loved her cooking and was really upset when auntie had to leave. Overall a very pleasant experience and this is the second time we have engaged her we won’t be having a third child so thought to share our experience to anyone who might benefit.
