Hello Mummies,
My kids took turns to have viral fever, stomach flu followed by the HFMD. Being a 1st timer, have no hands on experience. Some say blisters not painful, not itchy. Some say got fever and some say none at all. When read and shared with mummies with exp. learnt there were many strains of HFMD. It all subjects to strains and severity and child own body defense system.
The child will be only be immune to this particular strain of HFMD and there is still a possibility to get infected with diff strains of HFMD.
Watch out for loss of appetite, complaint of throat pain, painful even when drinking fluids.
After fever subsides, blister appears and ulcers will starts to pop out.
Symptoms
1st child - 1 ulcer and 1 blister on thumb
2nd child - 2 ulcer and 2 blister on toes
3rd chld - mouth with ulcers and blisters on hands, feets and buttocks (even armpit) : p
She can ask me whether will her skin be smooth again. That's her pride hor : )
There's no antibiotic drug to administer. Just paracetomol to relief fever and pain. Oral solution to numb the ulcers and cream to dry up the blisters. I bought exra oral solution and cream and zyrtec (stop itchy) from GP : p
Thought by seperating my 1st and twins in seperate rooms and sanitizing entire house 3 times daily, all utensils and clothing. change bedsheets etc would prevent it from spreading. My 1st one was not spared, probably got it cos just recovered from stomach flu and immune system down.
To stop the spreading further, think we, as parents have to be civic minded and uphold responsibility.
Please let your child boost up immune system. Bring your child to seek GP consultation if child is unwell and once confirmed, they will note your cc/school and inform ministry.
Will be bringing them for a 2nd medical review tomorrow cos our GP advised the blister must be cleared before the child is allowed to rejoin the cc/school. Initially, thought it's fine since blister dried up.
Hope other mummies can share your thoughts here too. Take good care.
YK,
Agree with Juxta,
They are singing, dancing, playing happily in our bedroom, other than discomfort during the initial few days, they are fine.
Pros,
They get to eat ice cream and yoghurt cos it relieves the pain : )
