Hi JJ, congrats on your twins

I'm also under Dr Loh and expecting twins (now abt 8 wks+). Just went for check up 2 days ago. U're 5 wks now? So our EDD should be quite close then.

Initially before I knew I was expecting twins, I did consider changing gynae but now that I'm have twins, I think its better to stay with Dr Loh as he is experienced with multiple and also cost may be cheaper at KKH.

Hi Singapoh, you've delivered a pair of twins under Dr Loh is it? Can I know the estimated delivery charges as I was told by the admin nurses that twins pricing is different.

I chose B1. 1 twin stayed in SCN for 4 nights. Mine was assisted natural delivery. I only stayed there for 1 night. Total bill was about $8k +
 
hi kitty chan, my 1st scan to see heartbeat is this tue. the nurses calculate that it will be 6w 3d hopefully can see heartbeat by then..
how's yr dh taking the news on twins? mine is worried abt the cost involved plus also how to explain to relatives why it's twins

JJ, twins r common these days in natural conceiving. I just read a real life story in mother & bb magazine. This lady had 3 pregnancies n all r twins. Conceived naturally. Also is yr choice whether u wan to tell them is twins or not. Just Like sex of bb. Some will just say, dunno, can't see yet. Ultimately is yr choice how much u wan to share.

Dun worry abt the relatives/friends asking why twins. Initially I also thought they may probe us since we dun have any twin genes for both families. But when they hear it's 2 boys, they are all excited wont ask any further. For the more kaypoh ones, just say " Ya lor, Doc scan and saw 2 babies !!" and change subject

I read there is 1 in 80 chance that one will conceive twins naturally w/o family genes
 
my dh family quite close till they won't hv any qualms abt asking such sensitive issues... haven't tell yet la but he is anticipating it.. his aunties quite '38' type..

anyway now not the time to think abt this... now is for me to pass the 1st tri stage ... so I shouldn't worry abt other unnecessary things.

managed to find cheap bra extensions at chinatown market, only $1 each, lots cheaper than those from dept stores,think abt $3/$4 each. just fyi in case anyone looking for cheaper alternatives

Not sure if any of the mummies here heard about PruFirst Gift, offered by Prudential. Does it cover for IVF babies?? or only covers for those babies who are conceived naturally??
 
i think one of the ladies from the ivf thread mentioned before that Pru Gift excludes babies conceived through ivf
 
I was interested in getting the PruFirst Gift when it was first launched a few months ago. I checked with my Prudential consultant and she told me that those who conceived thru ivf are not eligible for this plan.
 
Hi Pandawife, how are you? So quiet over the weekend? I went to OG over the weekend and got the Sorella bra and Karmy pyjamas. Good recommendation, the bra is really comfortable, just what I was looking for. Thanks!!

Also was at Robinson to check out the nursery fair. Didn't buy much but after talking to the sales lady there (she's very helpful), hubby and I decided that we'll get two single strollers. They sell this clip which can clip two strollers together so we can still have the option of the two strollers together if we want. I think that's the best solution... individual strollers when we need and just clip together if we want it to use it together.
 
working wife - u also twins ?? how do u settle the cot issue ??
I found online some twins mummy buy 1 cot 1st then use a cot divder to seperate for 2 bb's ... when older or bigger i think then buy another sleeping area bah

My CL finally left yesterday. Two weeks ago, she asked my MIL if she can leave on my babies' full month celebration which was 2 days before her offically last day. We ignored her as CL supposed to work for us for 28 days. On the very next day morning after celebration, she told me her hb wants her to go back immediately as the husband's bro passed away in m'sia. Me and my hb really doubt so...as she already packed her luggage on the full month celebration day lor. Anyway we feel we have nothing to lose as she created lots of headache in my hse and we are just counting down to her last day. Since now she requested to leave one day early, we just deduct one day salary. This CL really thick-skin man...we gave her angbao on the day she arrived and also on her last day. Guess what....she opened the angbao right in front of us and gave us the look "huh $20!" She find it too little!! Wah piangz...

Yesterday was the first day we survived without CL and it is not as bad as what we initially thought. My maid carried my naughty twins till 1am and woke up at 2+am to feed them. She looked like a zombie today and I allow her to take afternoon nap when bbs are asleep.

Thanks for sharing. What you had experienced is exactly what I am going through now. Babies dun want to sleep at night and start to scream and cry, hb has to work next day but have no choice, got to stay up late to see that babies are asleep and taken their medicine. I already very tired waking up to express milk and also do the night feeding. I dunno how my hb going to tahan if this continue. I am living with in-laws so space is a constraint and we dun have extra room to separate the two babies though I wanted to. Mummies are always the one who will wake up a few times throughout the night to see if their babies are resting well, cover their blanket etc...hehe.. And I am one of them too.

Like what you said, taking care of twins really not easy. Just the sterilization and washing of milk bottles, pump, pacifiers etc already can drive me crazy. Cannot imagine if I go back to work, fetching them to and forth from parents place etc. I must take my hats off that you are able to go through the beginning stage without any helper at all. Even though I have helper, the washing and cleaning are enough to keep us occupied. I fully agree with you that frustrations and impatient do come together when my babies are sick, not drinking or regurgitate milk. Sometimes my hb and I will be thinking if we have singleton, things would be so much easier now.

Anyone know if there's any upcoming baby fair or sale soon? I need to get a bb rocker, sterilizer and some stuff to put at my parents place, who will be taking care of my bbs when I go back to work.

Y u cover them with blanket??? Bb so young no need blanket, pillow, toys, bolster in their sleeping area. Only pose safety hazard nia..

i tried to go furniture shopping over the wkend..hahaah..bt not so successful coz cant walk very much.. plan to get my hb to continue the shopping on his own... very tiring to shop... every 30mins, i feel like sitting down! haahaha....

glad u like the bra n PJs..hee... u can buy more PJs...coz if breastfeeding, will need frequent change of PJs..

tips i gathered from the many CLs tht i spoke to over the wkend too.......

not sure how the clip works...but i read on forum a mummy commented tht its difficult to control two single strollers tht are clipped together..... but if dun plan to go out alone w the babies much, its alright to hv 2 single strollers.

our class is this sat leh..hee.. looking forward to meeting u..

u r under Dr Zou? The glutious rice + lotus rice porridge is her secret receipe.

Cut about 3-4 slices of lotus roots , put a few red dates and cook the glutious rice like the way u cook porridge .* meaning u put everything in a pot with water like the way u cook porridge*

the taste is awful *to me* but it works

Dun think u will wanna go out with all your babies on yr own. :s I find that single stroller is better. Get into MRT also easier. If not u will be blocking the door.

Going up to the escalator/elevator is also easier. Some nursing room can be quite small. Can't push in twin stroller.

My twins shared 1 cot till I separate them when they were 9.5 weeks old. Not because they are getting bigger. They irritated each other. One cry and nobody gets any sleep.

When my twin gal is back during weekend, she will zzz in the baby room by herself.
 
singapoh..we were tinking of 1 single stroller n 1 twin...so hb n i can go out w them..... hmmmm.... 3 single strollers means must hv 3 pax to go out w babies.... read tht the maclaren techo twin is easy to control n slim fit...

we bought a capella single... we are still pondering about the twin one...

dun tink we will wanna attempt to take mrt w the babies.. even now they are in my tummy, hb dun allow us to take mrt/bus...:S
 
pleasance - Ya, I'm with dr zou ... currently taking her an tai herbs with an open heart. my spotting today no more liao .. just the usual discharge ... so her porriage might have helped out ... I think its quite alright the taste cos i got add in chicken broth (those packaged one) so can have savoury taste.

I think i will be following in singapoh footsteps & use 1 bb strap-on carrier + 1 stroller

2 of u go out with triplets can be tiring. I go out with my "triplets" with 2 single strollers and a sling/carrier and took MRT. The station is just 3 mins walk. Much easier than driving. Loading and unloading are tiring.

I took MRT till I popped. Keke. Everyone was looking at my huge bump. My belly entered a room way before me. Kakaka..
 
singapoh, thanks for the tip! i tink we will minimise going out..bt on the days we need to make the trip out.. hb will wanna drive.. he is not mrt person unfortunately/fortunately.. thought of the sling, but i also cannot sling bb for too long..might not b able to handle the weight when bb is bigger..so might as well start training w stroller early.

u very good leh..can take mrt until pop! i realised tht my physical size is an disadvantage to carry 3 babies..... neither tall or big built....

Your Cl is really quite irresponsible, terrible and thick skin! She can even opened the red packet in front of you and told you that it's too little. Actually I think she doesn't deserve a red packet when she left.

My friend whose twins are 2 years old now told me that the first 3 months is the hardest. You'll know them better and get used to them after 3 months and they stop feeding so frequently and your milk supply will kick in so you can sleep better. Hang on there.

Do you plan to get your maid to help you in night feeding everyday? I was planning to get my maid to sleep earlier and wake up around 4am in the morning so that I can get to sleep at night. But some of my friends were telling me that if you don't let the maid sleep well at night but break up their sleep into 2 parts, they can't work well in the day time and take good care of your babies. So I'm still wondering how should I manage the night feeding.

I'll be 30weeks this Wed. Getting quite excited and nervous as the delivery is getting closer now. I hope the 2 bbs can stay longer inside and pop after 36 weeks.

How do we bring frozen ebm out to feed babies? We can't heat up the frozen ebm before bringing out otherwise it way decay after a few hours right? If we bring the frozen ebm out in a freezer bag, how to heat up the milk before feeding if say we are outside shopping?

What's the weights of ur twins now? Are u feeling really heavy at this stage? I saw one lady with singleton at 31 weeks and my 23/24 week tummy now bigger than hers.

Are u doing natural or c sect? Dun know if i got the strength to push both or not since I first time mum. But gynae says i need c sect most likely since my babies not side by side. Wonder if they will be side by side at later stage....

Baby - I went to OG Orchard. The Sorella bra will be in the discount bin, and there is a sign that says buy 2 free 1. I think one is $22.90 or so.

Cannot sleep now... slept at 10.30, woke up at 12.30 now wide awake.
 
baby, ask for the wireless, seamless one. $22.90 each, and buy 2 get 1 free. that shld b the only model. comes in nude, black or violet color.

Singapoh, couple of weeks back, i was at NTUC..saw a small size mummy using a carrier ..w bb in front... n trying to shop..she was walking really slowly..n kept asking her baby "how come u r so heavy today?? mummy cannot walk liao!" then it occured tht i probably also cannot sling my bb for too long coz of their weight increase...
 
Baby, the sorella bra is seamless no wired very easy to spot one la.

Bing, I bring ebm in prepared bottle then put in cooler bag with ic pack. When baby ready to ready to drink warm it with a hot waterin a container. Yes we bring hot water n container too.

Take out the frozen EBM and keep in the chiller a night before. Put the bag/bottle in a glass of warm water.

After u warm up frozen EBM, It has to be used immediately. Any left in the bottle, can't be kept or refreeze.

Now I dun bring out any FM when I go out with my twins. I would bf before they scream of hunger. I would bf the one that drinks faster. I find Nursing cover is really good. Can bf anywhere. Dun hv to find a place to bf.
