IVF/ICSI Support Group

Hi everyone, I’m new here.
I had my first round of Ivf past months and last week at week 6 US, Dr can’t find any fetal pole. I suspect it’s blighted ovum after much research. It’s so hard to get through this week for my next US. Can anyone share their experience? After blighted ovum, any protocol change or life style changes you have made to get success?

Hi, I’m currently undergoing my first miscarriage from my first fet. Trying to pass naturally now. Anyone know what the cost of D&C in Singapore? I have to go for it if I can’t pass naturally. Any advice for me? This is my first time and I’m feeling at my worst.

Hey guys,
I did my ER at KKH on last Tuesday. Seen Dr on Saturday, still awaiting results on my embryos as I will be doing a frozen cycle due to high progesterone. It is Day 6 today, would like to know when will the embryologist update me :)

maybe you can call them and ask...that's the best.

Perhaps you will be doing a frozen cycele, not a fresh one, so perhaps they might update you on your next appointment with the doctor.

Hello Snowie, how's it? Did they call?

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I created an account just so I can post some questions.

I'm now in day 6 post ER. Really suffering since day 1. Feel super bloated till I can't breathe properly, feel pain especially when lying down. Wake up few times every night from pain. Can't walk with my back straight.
I dragged myself out of the house to see doc 2 days ago. She said there's fluid but not enough for her to release it. And there's nothing we can do but to push through it.
Well, at least it's not severe OHSS.

I also haven't been eating much the whole week. I take like 2-3 mouthful of food and already feel super uncomfortable. I feel so hungry yet bloated that I cried to my husband did anyone experience this?
I read so many posts on reddit, and didn't find any with the same issue. Every post I read said they have good appetite/very hungry even though bloated. Is this not a common problem after ER?
TBH, how to have good appetite if you are feeling bloated? I wouldnt for sure. In this instance, you can help yourself to eat more egg whites and drink more water to relieve the bloatedness.

Hi everyone - am new here! Have had 2 failed fresh IVF cycles at KKH and am thinking of exploring private options. Any recommendations for a good private IVF doctor?

Also any support group to join to discuss IVF protocols and outcomes? Thank you and happy to share my journey too!

Can consider Tan Heng Hao from Marjella, he used to be from KKH then moved on to Alpha, now Marjella.

hi guys - sourcing my own IVF support group in SG. I've left a link in my bio re my KKH experience, and I'm thinking of moving on from KKH to private. Seeking people with similar experiences to share their experiences in the link thank you!

Hi Ally

I have run through your write-up "Status: Completed 2 fresh IVF rounds at KKH but both did not implant. Did attempt a few rounds of IUI but did not manage to fully complete those rounds due to administrative issues"

Have you considered of trying frozen transfers? For my case, all my kids are from frozen transfers. I have tried fresh and they never ever implant for some reasons. You might want to skip IUI cos it's like IVF lite and results are not fantastic.

Thank you for taking the time to read through! I think I'll try asking for frozen at the next round - just haven't decided whether I should attempt it at KKH or otherwise!

Hi Ally,

I scanned through your blog. I had 2 failed IVF cycles at KKH (2 retrievals & 2 transfers - 1 fresh, 1 frozen). I succeeded on my 3rd cycle under Dr Tan HH who was then with Alpha. I noted you did the 2 cycles back to back. Just to share, I took a 6 month break between 2nd and 3rd cycle to work on improving egg quality. I feel it made the difference, besides Dr Tan HH's expertise and Alpha's awesome clinic facilities. I conceived at age 38 with a 4AA embryo unlike the C grade embryos I got at KK.

Have you read the book It Starts With The Egg? I know some ladies succeed without supplements or changing lifestyle, but I think there's no harm in trying. It takes 3 months for supplements to work on egg quality. Btw, Dr Tan did not give advice on the supplements, he was a very relaxed doctor in that sense. I followed tips from the book on my own.

Also if you are on Facebook, there are 2 local groups focusing on IVF/Fertility treatment in Singapore. I think it's FAR more active than the TTC forums here. You can get more support and tips from the groups.

Wishing you all the best!

I think some are not keen to join the FB IVF groups as they do not want their friends or family members to know that they have to/undergoing IVF...

Hello thanks for the advice and I'm so glad to hear about your story! Yeah I'm also taking that break now and trying to feed my body better food and nutrition. Am also taking the vitamins generally recommended by that book (though I haven't read it myself) such as CoQ10, Vitamin D3 etc. I'm guessing you moved from KK to Dr Tan HH after your first two cycles didn't work out? Was there any other explanation for your greatly improved egg quality at Alpha (other than the vitamins)? Was the protocol very different from KKH?

Yes, I switched to Dr Tan after failing my first 2 cycles at KK. I also saw another doctor before choosing Dr Tan. I feel it's good to shortlist some public/private doctors and decide, if you want to leave KK. Chemistry between patient and Dr is important because you have to trust your Dr.

At Alpha, I saw Dr Tan at every appointment during stim period and he conducted the ultrasounds too. When I did IVF at KK in 2020/2021, they were practicing "team doctors" concept so I didn't see my own doctor during stims even though I was a private patient.. I'm not sure if that's still the case at KK now. I topped up for embryoscope at Alpha to allow better monitoring of the embryos. Lastly, I did medicated FET at Alpha, which Dr Tan recommended. At KK, I was put on natural FET because of my regular periods, but it still didn't work out.

Hello I think nothing much can be done since you have jabbed too near the navel hole. Perhaps before you jab, make sure you jab at the right position. For my case, I jab alternate sides like today right side, tomorrow left side to be more balanced lol

The org needle is very thick. Need to breathe in before you poke to lessen the pain

Hi all, I am new to IVF. Thinking of doing IVF due to my age (turning 40 soon) and also do PGT due to history of miscarriages and one recent MTPT for medical reason. Anyone did IVF with PGT at gov hospitals with funding from gov and claim from Medisave? May I know the estimated amount that you have to fork out? TIA.

@towkayneo if I recalled correctly you did your em transfer in JB? Can share which hospital? You transferred your frozen em to Jb and then did PSG test in JB right?
hey Carli, I ported my 2 frozen embryos from KKH to TMC JB (Fabian Kurian) and I went for the PGD/PGS, test results came back undesirable for transfer, so I didnt do any embryo transfer.
