A few months ago i started this survey on who is trying for our first bb. Just want to share that some sisters in this list already bfp after 2nd try. It does motivate me a bit to propel further that perhaps or maybi it does happen. Although i do not know. Hope this will give some motivation to you.

Trying for my 1st bb as well.
 


Just finished the tcm meds that I was prescribed for pcos. Failed to bring on my menses which has been absent for 4 months. Not sure what to expect but was still disappointed that it didnt seem to make any diff to my lousy ovaries. Although I know tcm is long term still feel emo that we have to go through all this difficulties. Sigh looks like ivf is still the best option for me... need to convince my husband...

Sorry just venting here as I've no one to talk to, can't tell my family. I know what my friends will say if I tell them as they do not really understand what I went through. All they can say is relax, don't be stressed and try again. I cry the moment my hubby try to talk to me, I felt I've disappointed him and let him down.

I can't even pray..I felt like God is not listening to me at all. I know I should have faith in God that He has plans for me when the time is right. But when???

I'm so lost now I don't know what to do next, no energy for anything. Can sisters here please help me stand up again?

Awww. Big big hugs!!! U were my 2ww partner. Now I suddenly feel lost too. Pls hang in there. I know easy to say & hard to follow. I know how it feels because I completely broke down after my first failed cycle & I've been worrying non-stop abt this cycle. Today I even wanted to cheat & test with home kit so tht if it's negative, I can start bracing myself before my BT.

I pray tht u can overcome this emotional times & come back stronger & more determined. It's never easy, as a woman tht we juggle our career, families & on top of tht some women like us are afflicted with fertility issues. Dont feel sad in sharing...because if we don't share den others won't feel like sharing either.

Stay very strong & seek solace in the God tht you believe in. For only God can ease all our struggles & hardships & eradicate the heart pain.

Hi! I only rested in bed for 1 or 2 days then up and about as usual. Did take things slower but had to do something or else I will lose my mind with all the thinking and hoping.
 
How long was your menopur jabs? average around D 11?
I know first scan starts on D8, want to estimate an average period as boss want to talk to me later with regards to my no pay leave application :(

I came back from KKH today. Had my and hubby results reviewed by the doctor. Everything is fine in my side, my hubby's sperm shape is abnormal, other than that, both of us are ok. I was surprised the doctor allowed me to do IVF for first timer like me. Now is to wait for the hospital to call me to make appointment for IVF. Doctor said earliest appointment is April.

Hi paperclip! Just curious ur doc nv give the option of iui? Sorry I not very sure of ur history so just wondering. I also impatient to wait for tcm, just 1 month in I cannot take it liao. Normally docs dun see ivf as the last option just one of the options so if we insist on ivf and skip the other types like iui or clomid normally they allow.

I don't know the reason too. I am 30 years old this year. My medical report showed that I did not have tube block, blood test ok, and I was ovulating. I had my pap smear done in private clinic and everything was fine, and I was found I have some fibroids. My hubby's sperm count was 2x amount which was very good, 'fast swimmer', only one thing bad was the shape of the sperm was abnormal. The doctor asked me how he could help me. I told him I wanted to try IVF because I didn't want to wait until I'm too old to try then my chances for IVF would drop, I didn't want it to happen. I said this to the doctor: "I heard for first timer we cannot ask for IVF if we have not tried other methods, am I right?" He said I could, I could opt for IVF for first time. I saw he wrote in my medical book "ICSI". And that's how I got subjected to IVF for my first time.

The earliest appointment for IVF is in April. If you plan to do IVF after April, the KKH should have available slot from May onwards. I was given open date to choose. The doctor wanted me to try another 6 months before I decide. I told him why not I made the appointment first, book a date, in between we try our best to conceive naturally. He said ok, and will give me an open date to choose when I want to do.

Not necessary. The counter nurse asked me if I have the memo/registration form from the doctor for IVF appointment. I said no. I went back to the room to find the nurse-in-charge. She said no need for the form. Just wait for IVF department to call me for appointment. She told me they will call me within one to two weeks' time.

Hi5 also 30 this year. Found out I got pcos 3 years ago and did ivf 2 years ago. Start early is a good thing and since ivf gives the highest chance why not just go for it. Doc at kkh also ask me to try other options since im considered young but I refused. I was afraid of failing thr other options and already be so emotionally drained and tired before starting ivf. Actually ur plan now to book first is a gd idea I will do that as well!

Wow, you started the journey earlier than me. We tried to conceive naturally for 3 years (not constant, to be truth), but no good news. I told my hubby we try our best for these few months till the IVF appointment date comes, we probably fix the IVF appointment in May or June, but in between, we may visit private gynae to try natural IUI. I don't like the idea to try SO-IUI in KKH and the cost is more expensive. I heard natural IUI is cheaper and can be done in private clinic, I may try once and see how.

Bbpony,u started yr ivf le? They give u orgalutran at day 3? What other jabs did they give you?

Strange,i tot orgalutran is given at the later part of the cycle like day 7 onwards to prevent ovalution? Or maybi kkh practise differently

But need to see doc. Doc give green light to do ivf,then can do ivf rite?

Yah cos I already suspected for many years that I would have problems conceiving. My periods were always irregular and once I went off bcp my hormones really went out of whack. Didnt have menses for 9 months and cried everytime I saw bfn. Was so frustrated cos I couldnt even calculate ovulation because no menses! And I thought it would be a big strain on my hubby if I had to force him to erm perform on a specific day. So went straight for ivf once my first clomid + gonal f failed. I didnt know kkh would be more ex for iui! Surprised. I guess only ivf is so much cheaper cos of the subsidy.

I thought of the worst scenario that could happen to me before seeing the doctor. I tend to be on the negative side to avoid disappointment. I always told my hubby I probably wasn't ovulating or irregular menses, and it was not true, my hubby always said this to me. Without his support, I probably be under depression.

The doctor explained the IVF costs to me. With my referral letter from polyclinic, the costs I have to pay out of my pocket is around $500 during IVF procedure. So far before yesterday's consultation, I have spent almost $500 already, that's after subsidy with referral letter.

Yah I know what u mean. I feel so bad that my hubby has to go through all the emo stuff I throw at him cos of disappointment at not being able to.conceive naturally or dealing with preg friends and family. Feel like I've failed in my duty as a woman and wife even though I know its no ones fault. but 500 dollars is very expensive for first consultation! Does it include all the blood tests? I going for first consultation on thursday.
 
First consultation starts from when? IVF? IVF I don't know yet, after I go into the actual procedure, I may be able to advise. As per the doctor says, for the whole IVF journey, I probably need to pay $500 out of my pocket. It could mean for all the tests etc, the rest subsidy by the government and medisave.
 
I tried ivf at KKH in 2013 but was not successful. Fresh embryos did not stick and the frozen embryos disintegrated upon thawing. In 2014, I went private and tried ivf at raffles. And now I'm carrying the results of twins at 34 weeks pregnant. So for those whose first try does not work out, please take heart that it's not the end of the journey. Of course, you would feel devastated but pick yourself up and try again.

My experience at private is they explain things more clearly versus public so you are not left in the dark about any part of the procedure. The waiting time is much shorter as well to see the doctor. Of course, it costs us so much more going private but I find it was worth it. The only good thing about KKH is your hubby can enter the room when they implant the embryo into you but in raffles, since it's done at operating theatre, hubby cannot go in.

Yes, I started the cycle yest. Today is my 2nd day of jab. Was given pergoveris also.. I also thot orgalutran is given later part of the cycle.
 
I agree with @mumsies tht private waiting time is shorter & more details are given to us. Even like short & long protocol, even though the embryologist explained during ivf counselling but when we started treatment my doctor never referred to it. I guess because each person body is different? I didn't ask him either as I was just eager to start process ASAP.

As for the ivf centre I did with, hubby can wait in the patient lounge & watch both ER & ET via a screen. But it's only the ultrasound they can watch so when I asked my hubby what he saw when he came to see me in recovery room, he said he only saw lines & curves. Haha!

I'm going crazy googling symptoms because today in the middle of the night after I went to pee, I laid down on bed & there was this very strong & nasty cramp-like pain right on the middle of my stomach. My BT is only tomorrow & I'm freaking out.....

Yup, if TCM fails to bring on your AF, it's best to go for IVF. Doc will prescribe duphaston (progesterone tablets) that will regulate your cycle so that your AF returns. If you have no AF, there's zero chance of conceiving whether naturally or thru IVF.

It's to prevent premature ovulation, so if the doc has reason to believe that you may respond too quickly and vigorously to the stims, they'll put you on that.

bbpony, i started mine yesterday.. n yup orgalutran for first 3 days den menupur.. its my first cycle so not sure abt alot of things.. but its not norm to start with orgalutran?

Yup, the tcm doc say if the chinese meds dun work then must see specialist zzzz. My hubby wants to try natural but same issue. No menses equals to no ovulation equals to no bb.
