Hi Everyone,
I have been trying for bb for the past 3 years. I have gone thru' my first IUI in 2007 and strike on my 1st try. Unfortunately, I lost my baby when i was 5 mths preggy.
Since my m/c til now, still no news so I am seriously considering IVF now. Can I join the discussion too?

I heard the chances will be higher for ivf. I too went through 2 IUIs and 2 SO-IUI (puregon) and not successful. Hope all of us will have good news "baby dust" in Yr 2009.

Jas - there is a CARE@Sgh, which is classified under public, thus, eligible for the govt subsidy. There is also a private reproductive clinic in paragon, CARE@Paragon, that is not eligible for govt grant, but can claim for medisave.. For one of them, the actual name is CAREivf, but I forgot which one.. I was under the CARE@Paragon...

Thanks. I called TFC and they said it is okay to experience spotting during suppression stage. But i am still bothered, cos the spotting didn't stop and i still have 10 days before my next menses leh if it is 28 days cycle. I read that many are doing days of blood test before IVF starts. Err... TFC took my blood sample on my 2nd day of menses (the same day I started contraceptive pill) and I have not been informed of the result yet. anyway, i will be seeing the counsellor in 1.5hrs time and will ask all the questions I have then.

The blood test mainly to test for HIV and hormones. The level of ur hormones will let dr cheng have a better idea of the GonalF dosage when the time comes.
The nurse will call only if there is adnormal reading if i am not wrong. So dun worry. Dun be afraid as many questions during the counselling session....I will probably start my injection on 28th Jan.

From what i understand, 2ww means the 2 weeks wait before the preganancy bld test. During this period, we are labelled as " Technically pregnant". During the 2ww hopefully the fertilised eggs will stick and continue to grow into a foetus.
Why need to minimise going out is to prevent getting infections like flu, chicken pox etc. To avoid getting sick during this period.
So staying at home to rest or rather do nothing is best. For those has to work have to be careful not to carry heavy things, dun tire yourelf out, dun stress yourself, avoid crowded places etc.

oh dear... such counselling session should come first before anyone starts IVF. I just realised today that the oral contraceptive pill is to be taken on 5th day of menses. but i am very sure that I was told to start on the day when i did my scan which is 2nd day of my menses. but i wasn't brave enough to confront the counsellor. so, I was really shocked when the counsellor told me that my menses will come within the next 3 days after the 21 day... this means my menses should come by 22 Jan, 4 days earlier! well, i will call the centre on monday to check if it is alright.

how about zinc?
also, try not to wear tight clothes, esp lower half of body. dun cook at stove too much to avoid over-heat. try to relax, stress also can affect. if work irregular hrs, try to rest more. may help as well

Does your hb smoke?? If yes, reduce the amount of smoking, try to drink more water, take lots of vitamin C, E and zinc (seafood) which should help to improve morphology.

Dear Ladies, my BT negative. I guess I'm not destined to have one at the moment. Will be seing my gynae again in Feb. Those on 2ww, my advise stay home with complete rest. Our body works differently during this period. Usually I'm managed stress very well but apparently not during this period. I get very edggy very easily. Especially when I received calls or sms from my staff.

my hb doesn't smoke. we used drink (not excessive type) on weekends but have reduced it to like 1-2 glasses once in a long long while (I have stopped completely). well... he is skinny, nothing is tight on him, he doesnt wear tights. he doesnt cook nor goes sauna. he drinks lots of water and takes 2 megaman tablets everyday which has the zinc, C and E.. maybe it is due to work stress + age (he is 36+)
by the way, would acupuncture help?

Did my Day 3 blood test on Friday, also went for the counselling session on the same day. Got Majella. Was supposed to have Caroline but she was sick on that day. Hope the blood tests will return all ok. I went for the blood test at like 830am, didn't have breakfast at all before that, just 1 glass of water. Does it matter??
The nurse said if all clear, they won't contact me unless sumthing is wrong with the blood test. Quite nervous ... but she said I can try calling after 1 wk to check on the results. *fingers crossed*

So for us, it's like .. so unfair, never drink, smoke, is healthy and yet low counts! Bought for him Speman but doesn't work. TCM also gave him tablets to take, but we didn't do another sperm test after the TCM medication. But then again, I also didn't get pregnant ... so not sure if it works ...

Dr Cheng told me it's okay to extend the marvelon. Was given 26days as my period may come during the first two days of CNY if dun extend.
Seems that some of us here face the same male factor. My hubby has poor morphology and low sperm count. Guess that's why we TTC for so long still no news. What the lab needs is few good sperms to fertilize the eggs.
TCM should help but my hubby scared of needles so cant do acupunture. MY hubby taking the Immuvital. Nurse said buy from Mustafa cheaper by $15 dollars.

I am reading the standard procedure chart from kk and it says start contraceptive on day 2, not day 5, so you are correct. My hubby has low morphology and even after one year of western medication doesn't help. He's also 36, work is not very stress. So now hope accupuncture and chinese medication will help him. He goes to 2 different sinseh, Dr Zou (amk) and Dr Tan (clementi).

I thought that he would scream when sinseh poke the first needle. But to my surprise, he manage to overcome the fear. He only got a shock when electric current was placed on the needles. He claimed that accupuncture needles are much thiner compare to actual injection and not much pain. Now his twice weekly accu, he went into such relax mode that fell asleep every time with a very loud snore. Do ask your hubby to give it a try, he might enjoy it.

Those hubby having morphology problem can consider taking vitamins from fresh fruits. It does help. Try taking papaya and kiwi that are rich in vit E and C. Oh ya, oyster is good too. It has zinc.

I had my cyst removed too but i don have to wait that long to plan for baby. Although i went thru treatment which i was given lucrin for 3mths but after that i was told to start planning for baby soon to prevent the cyst from coming back. Mayb u should seek another gynae for advise.

You are lucky your hubby is doing the treatment. My hubby is only willing to take the TCM medication. After he started the med, we have yet to do a SA so not sure if the sperm quality has improved. Just keep our fingers crossed

Nancy, Yes I was devastated when i lost my baby. Everything was fine and it happened suddenly. I even had postnatal depression. Luckily, i have my hubby and family's love and support which enable me to get thru' the lowest point of my life.

We've tried to hv baby for quite a while already. Tried 2x IUI and now both of us on TCM. Going to start IVF this mar/apr. Hb sperm count and morphology not good. Really scared of the egg retrieval process and all the injections, and the future side effects. Try not to think too much abt it.
Any advice on how to go thru the IVF period? I hv quite a busy job and so does my hubby. Am thinking of asking my mom to come help out when i start the cycle.

Unlike u, my 2x iuis didn't work. It was all my fault for going to a non reputable doc. Her hand was shaking when she inserted the sperm into my uterus!!
I hv been preparing my body 4 a year via TCM before actually trying IVF. I think all those injections can be quite trying.
But is suppose you hv done all the tests already in preps for your IUI? I'm sure yr doc will advise you correctly, eventhou' they can be quite money greedy!

Have read your 1st message & know that u will be trying your IVF soon. Yes, it can be quite stressful but higher chance that baby dust is on the way... Just to share with you , i have been quite stressful when i have my first few injections. However , alot of ppl have told me to be superz positive.
I am in logistic so the stress level can be really high but you will really need to be relax such as gtg to park for walks and listening to some music. As for the side effects, it is bearable.. egg retrieval is on GA so you will just feel cramp and slight pain later.. embryo transfer is not painful.. as for the injections , the needles are thin.. u should go ahead and stay strong !! Jia You ...

Tany - the cost is btw 9-12k depending on the medicine and etc ... there is also no waiting period as IVF is conducted by 4 doctors - Dr Hema, Dr Yong, Dr Rolend & Dr Yu ...

Hope tcm will help as now spending additional of $800 per month for both our tcm is very costly.

Sometimes, I feel that we need to have high EQ to go thru this rough patch. My neighbour with 2 lovely girls age 8 and 9 now pregnant with third child. I was happy for her at the same time i ask myself " why i need to go thru all these pain and financial stress just to buy ONE chance?" Sigh.....normal couples do it simply at home, we have to make countless trips to hospital for that. Sorry for pouring out here....

It seems that i will not be able to start my IVF cycle for this cycle.
Nurses keep telling me next cycle. Is this the usual procedure?
Abit disappointed actually cos tot we can start this cycle.
Now still have to wait for another cycle... Like so long.... keke

We're are not giving up hope. But I have a problem, my hubby has hard time dropping his smoking habit although he is cutting down.
I told him he better quit smoking if we going for our 2nd try. Otherwise it is just waste of our time, effort and money.
We're are not giving up hope. But I have a problem, my hubby has hard time dropping his smoking habit although he is cutting down.
I told him he better quit smoking if we going for our 2nd try. Otherwise it is just waste of our time, effort and money.

did the nurse tells u the reason.. i remember u did it at KKIVF right ? Be positive.. make sure all are right before they start the IVF so it will not affect the chance.. Jia you.. Do check with your gynae if u find it not logical that u are unable to start.. Only the gynae can give u better explaination... for my IVF , the nurse insist not to let me start the IVF process and produce the reason that due to the crowd doing IVF and i am superz angry to insist to see Dr Loh.. at the end , he accepted me to do it.. But u need to be really fast to check , if u miss the day then u really have to wait le.. :S
