Hi Cat,

Just bear with it, when I was on so-iui and HCG jabs also have the same problem...My previous Re told me that he can't do anything to me, just let go whatever I want to vomit... I even not given any med to stop my vomitting, so it is not KK's doctor's fault who told you he is not good in handling IVf patient.. Just avoid oily food and eat small meal, then you will feel better. ok?

My hb also sacred all 3 will stick, but the chances are very low and I told him, I scare for not able to get preggy much more than triplets...

After 3 years waiting, I am too "hungry" for bbs.... ha ha...

Koala, me too.....so hungry for bbs that sometimes i see cute babies i want to kidnap them!!! whahahaha!!! I think i am quite lucky as I din have much reaction to the Prengnyl shot, only slightnumbness in the leg. Is it becos it is lower dosage for IUI?

U jab on your leg? I scare to do that... cos I know later will be very very painful. I always jab on buttok. Ha ha , more fleshy.

U were on iui or so-iui before? Not sure abt the dosage, but mt last so-iui was on 3 jabs of Prengnyl, 1 prior and 2 after the so-iui, I think is 10,000 iu and 5,000 iu respectively.

And I guess my vomitting also due to the high dosage of stimualtion drugs.

For KK, during the pregnyl injection, the nurse will inject on the thigh. I requested to do it on the buttock, she told me no. Luckily she said no, cos the next day, muscle cramp at the injection area, walked limping. Imagine the injection was on the buttock, think got problem sitting down.

Ya...acu twice a week. The last treatment with my beach towel, ipod. Me almost doze off.

I will be on regular protocol. I will start with Gynera this time for about 17 to 21 days. The last round i was only on Lucrin w/o Gynera therefore my suppression took 3 weeks with higher dosage of Lucrin. I hope with Gynera, i will not need more Lucrin.

Are you taking a break from acu?

I still doing the ACU, but is on natural cycle basis, doing before my ovulation period. I will start the "IVF basis" only after my mensus came in Jan. (after 7 days mensus, then start twice a week).

I also don't know if I need Gynera again as I have blood cyst before, but Dr Sf Loh said should have any problem.

I am a bit worried that mine may not be successful as I did not have acu like you ladies here.
I went to see a sinseh 3 months before I embarked on IVF to prepare myself for IVF. She was on newspaper before and she did not believe in acu. I was solely on herbs. She worked with a gynae. She believed in using both chinese and western medicine together. Actually, under her and the gynae's supervision , I was able to ovulate with 50mg clomid but unfortunately, my hubby couldn't swallow the chinese herbs that can help to improve the quality of his sperms. Hence it didn't succeed. Now everything stops as she doesn't want the chinese medicine to interupt the work of the western medicine used in IVF.

She told me to go and see her if I have grade 4 to grade 5 eggs transplanted and a lining of at least 9mm. She said she will give me an tai yao then.

Don't know whether to go back and see her or not... scared that there may be some side effect...I am confused... Hence, this time round, I am on my own...

There are some ladies here not doing ACU but still can strike, so it has no hard and fast rule must have ACU to strike.

No need to worry at this stage, just ask Dr Loh's opinion on this if you want to see your sinseh.

No worry, you must trust your sinseh, i think either acu or herbs can help to tiao our body, if our body is weak. But for some sisters who has strong body, no need tcm also can get pregnant lah.....

Hope u r feeling better... is your sinseh Dr Velonka Toh? Cos' i know she's one of the few sinsehs who doesn't use ACU (for fertility treatment). When is the last time u hv seen her?

I've been also c-ing her for the past 1.5yrs. I wld suggest u give her a ring and check with her since u respond well to her herbs (b4 u embarked on your IVF attempt).

Unlike u, i don't ovulate with 50mg clomid + herbs (my clomid dosage went up to 150mg!).

try to take it easy okay, i find her to be a very helpful doc (abeit a little impatient at times... heh... heh...)

my sinseh is the same as yours.

She told me to call her if I have grade 4 to 5 embies and my lining is at least 9mm... Otherwise, don't bother.

Did you tell her about your intention to do IVF?
Did she suggest anything to you?

Today, I went for the blood test and scan and called the nurse at 4 to check the outcome. She told me to start puregon on friday 24/11.
I am excited as that's one step forward, nearer to my goal but scared as I heard that this injection is more painful than Lucrin...

How long hv u been c-ing Dr Toh?
My last visit to her was last month and she encouraged me to do IVF rightaway (i failed my SO-IUI last yr). She also told me no need to look for her if i dun intend to do IVF, cos' my case quite "severe" (ie. cannot just rely on her herbs lor...)

Is this your 1st IVF attempt? Least u started earlier than me...

Good thing u are +ve towards this "long" journey of having your own baby... Jia you!! I've not taken Lucrin b4 so cannot advise u the difference between Lucrin and Puregon. But i've gone thru' the Puregon route (during my SO-IUI) and i find the Pen makes it quite easy lor... altho i'm not the one injecting (HB did for me cos' i cannot tahan c-ing the needle go in)...

I have seen her for a few months only. As my initial plan is to prepare my body for IVF but she said we can try to conceive naturally first with the help of the chinese and western herbs. So I gave it a try but then it didn't help because my husband can't stomach the chinese herbs.

Jeni, Puregon jab not very painful...don't worry. What is your dosage? Must be exciting to move from stage to stage in IVF. I can't really believe i am in the process of IVF right now.....so surreal....haha. Your ER and ET will be next year Jan?

Happen to surf to this blog where a lady in aussie charted her TTC process..... she went through 8 cycles of IVF b4 conceiving...sigh, can really feel her disappointment in her writing each time her AF comes.

Hiya...you dont worry so much lah. Let your Dr Loh do his job and he will certainly advise you whether you need to take Gynera or not. You must now start practising to stay CALM....just let go and stay relax.

Hey...Jo. How are you doing? I have not see u here for a while. O..ya..i also think i am at a beach party during my acu treatment...i still short of a "sunglass". I want to buy an eye pillow too to cover my eye during ACU treatment but i cant find it at the shop. I just wish to stay as comfortable as possible during the process of IVF...just try to enjoy and be "funky" about it!

A word to jeni - dont worry about whether you do ACU or not. Doing ACU does not mean you will have 100% success rate. You need to have faith in yourself. Stay positive. I go for ACU because ....koala influenue me! hahahaha. :p i'm just kidding. The reason i go for ACU because i feel my womb alittle cold. The feeling of cold is like after you drink a glass of cold water into your body that cool feeling. Therefore, i need ACU to warm up my womb. I do not want to take the risk of having a "cold" womb and affect my ivf treatment. That's it.

So now u still continue with twice a week treatment? Actually I asked Dr Xia if I can start one month earlier for this treatment, but she said no need, just start on the month of IVF.

Sigh, is very difficult to stay calm at this stage, always worry abt this abt that. I still have fear that something might happen once I start IVF. May be due to last round experience; started IVF half way, pregnant, then m/c...

I will e-mail Dr Loh on the Gynera, actually I asked him on the recurrence of blood cyst on my last visit, he told me if I am worry, I can take Gynera.

Once you have started your puregon, I think your ER and ET will be coming very very fast, (the nurse told me the most is 10 days for puregon), so good luck huh, have many many good eggs...

I have injected myself for 16 days, today inclusive and I am going to start Puregon on this coming Friday.
I thought during the suppression stage should have no follicles growing right? Don't know how many eggs leh??? I heard 6 on the left... don't know what's the 6 they are talking about and then she won't say anything about the right... probably nothing?!!! My tube is 'blocked' there you see... arghhhhhh...


Dawn, don't know the dosage of my puregon yet... will find out this Friday. My ER and ET will be in Dec and if everything goes well, then will find out the result around X'mas period.
Hope Santa will give me a present of a lifetime!!

thanks for your encouragement and sense of humour... as my sinseh said my lining is on the thin side, that's why she is worried. I am worried as this will affect the implantation. Anyway, this time I will put in 2 eggs. If it is not successful (touchwood), then 3 months later, I will put in 3 eggs and will definately go for the acu to thicken my lining.

No worries. You just have to stay calm. You must think if you are worry, it will affect the progress/process of your ivf treatment. So...what for?

I think why i can go for ACU twice a week, 2 months prior to my ivf treatment is because i have never done ACU before moreover i was never on any herbs when i went for TCM. Will it be Dr Xia has did enough work on your womb therefore you dont need to start ACU so soon. You dont worry lah...

You must do a FSH blood test to determine your Stimulation drug dosage b4 you take Gynera. Taking Gynera is like putting yourself into Suppression liao. Your FSH level will go high.

What is a blood cyst? Will it go away by itself?

Aiya...You are approaching Stimulation Stage...dont care about the comment by the sinseh lah. He/She is suppose to give you the encouragement at this point of time and not telling you that your lining is not ready. Tell yourself, you are 100% READY. The power of your mind gonna win over everything. You will certainly get your Twin this round and you dont need to go through the process again in 3 months. Jia You!

I am busy "tiaoing" my body after 1st IVF failed..going for acu twice a week now. Acu is also a new thing to me, but I feel good after each acu session, so believing more in TCM now. Just had a review session with my doctor, she also puzzled why I failed, my embryos look good, my lining is good, progesterone result also good, except cannot implant...So I told her I am doing acu to improve the implant, she also agrees to me. I think probably my womb a bit cold, so the embryo don't like it...

I will be starting 2morrow. I've the kind of mix feelings. At the same time excited abt the whole process, but at the same time feel bad about having to go thru all this. This could be due to my preconception that IVF/ICSI is always my last resort, when no other methods can help. Somethimes , still bother about "why ME". My DH is more prepared and only pacified me that it's okay.His comfort seems not effective to me as I find his part is so easy " only in consoling" and our roles are more demanding. On one hand i hope I will suceed in my first attempt but on the other hand worry abt the higher I pin my hope, the more i will be disappointed. My confidence level is on and off leh.

Would you like to share about how to inject so as to prevent bruises. Any alcoholic strip given to rub on skin b4 jab? Which are the jabs need to be refrigerated? Hope the info. can make me better prepared. Thankzz

Me will be visiting Dr Loh at beginning of Dec to discuss if I need Gynera b4 IVF started.

Just to recap, I had blood cyst at my right ovary, and after taking for 1 cycle of Gynera, it was gone. I was with TMC that time. Now, just scare that my cyst will come back as my right abdomen is cramping since my first day of mensus.

My blood test results is out, FSH is maintained as 9.4, still at high side (the best is 6 to 7) seems like Dr Xia's med not really effective in helping to reduce the FSH level. A bit disappointed. I guess I will need to take higher dosage for my stimulation drugs.

Sorry to hear that...take your time to "tiao". I think after the "tiao" you should be able to tell your body condition has improved. You also enjoy ACU har...after ACU the womb feels good hor...warm and "tender" right. I thought i am the only one who enjoy it. Alot of people complaint very painful but i feel manageable and feel nice. I think if i go a few more times i may start to snore liao! :p

FSH 9.4 har...did u eat alot of soya sauce, pineapple or those stuffs or not? Dont be disappointed lah...FSH will fluatuate up and down. It will go down when you start your preparation cycle. Your Dr Loh should be able to handle your condition.

i think someone ask about when will stimulation drug kick in. It depend whether you have enough suppression. Some people took 1 week, some people took a few weeks. A E2 blood test will determine whether you are ready to start to "poke" the stimulation drug. Oouch! oops! I'm just kidding...no pain lah.

Do you have any idea will KKH prior to Stimulation make an attempt to pass the Wallace embryo transfer catheter through the cervix into the uterine cavity?

My schedule for ACU this week is Wed and Sat. Sat will be afternoon around 4pm.

I usually go in the afternoon. i am afraid evening slots will be crowded. Long quenue will spoilt my day leh. I still have that side effect of Lucrin...i have lost my patience these days.

Sorry to know abt your FSH Level. Maybe you can start trying other Chinese Physician. Dr Loh will help you too. Dun worry! Seems like everyone of us is having our own problems. Be it physically or psychologically.

Not to take chicken, what abt duck?My chinese physician encouraged me to take duck meat instead. I forgot to ask him why.

I don't know abt others, but my Dr Loh make an attempt to do a "Mock ET" for me to pass the washed sperms using the transfer catherter through the cervix into uterine cavity on my last visit, cos i was suspected to have something attached at my cervix part which may block the transfer of embryo.

I have been taking folic since 3 years ago, very kia su hoh. U can buy from NTUC healthcare, very cheap, 100 tablets only for S$2.52.

So how huh, r u going to ACU on this Friday? U haven't answer me leh..

U are asking me how to jab the puregon? I think KK nowaday is using the "pen" type, very user friendly, don't worry. Actually hoh, I don't use the alcoholic strip to rub on skin b4 jab, just hold the flesh tight tight and jab... me very gang hoh. But I don't jab myself, HB did for me.

Understand how you feel. Tell yourself, u can make it, mental power, ok?

Sometimes I think man can't understand us, we tend to worry for everything. But one good thing for them is, they always look at the bright side and ask us stop thinking nonsense.

Me not going Friday evening for ACU. Friday, me go "PARTY" :p We meet one day for Milo or Horlick lah (cannot drink coffee and tea). Moreover after ACU...i cant talk properly ... very sleepy ...head "gong gong" must go home and zzzzz.

Aiyoh...me kenna chop "vegetable head" liao. I bought it at S$4 plus. But my house dont have Unity Pharmacy...if i travel there to buy also will not be cheap. Need to incur transport cost also. Ok lah...folic i still can afford to pay. I hope i will not need so much of Gonal F!

I underdstand how you feel about starting IVF. At that time, I too hesitated but now that I am half way there, I hope, I am glad that I have made the call at that time. So, just do it! You have our support here! Jia you! Jia you!
I think I am one of those unfortunate souls that have to jab Lucrin for about 3 weeks b4 I can start puregon...
I had 3 bruises but now I realise that when I poked it in, I have to pinch the fats hard so that not so painful but b4 I pull it out, I let go of the fats and relax.Also, avoid blood vessels... They are the ones that cause bruises. Once I hit the big one (the qing geng), blood oozed out and then not long after, a big patch of the size of my thumb. As long as no blood = no bruises

Now I avoid them and so far no bruises.
You have to put the bottle of Lucrin in the fridge and the nurse said 1 bottle can last up to 28 days.
I hope this will help... not too naggy...

Dr Loh also prescribed folic acid for me so I have been taking it like a month plus only.
Also, is it true that Lucrin will make one impatient? I feel that way too... other than that, not much side effect for me...hmm...

Hi Jeni, HPT is for testing for pregnancy. I always buy from states as they are quite cheap. Singapore HPT cost about 10 to 15 bucks. Heart pain if need to test a few times if pregnant...haha. only cost about 1 buck (after delivery charges) from states.

Bodhi, I may buy about 10 to 20HPT....hee hee...kiasu hor...Usually i order OPK together but since going IVF, no need to use OPK liow. U let me know how many u want, if we meeting up can pass to you, otherwise, juz mail to u lor!

i also sometimes kena bruises when jabbing the puregon. Hubby kena scolded. only recently heard about avoiding the veins....last time juz jab anywhere......

Stacy, i understand how u feet too....i never imagined i will go this far in fertility treatment! but i guess once i made up my mind, it is not so scary anymore! ;) anyway, got all these supporting gals online which really helps the make this journey less stressful!

Ya, ya, forgot to tell you the puregon med is required to "keep cool", remember to ask for ice pack from KK pharmacy when you buy the med. (I think they will give you automatically)
