IVF/ICSI - cycle buddies

Stacy and Koalatree,

my ET will be on Wed. Today is the last day I'm on Puregon - Day 8.

I've asked Dr Zou if I can still do ACU after ET but she advised against it though she says some people will choose to do so. She told me to just do another one after ER and should be enough liao.

Thanks

Hi En hui,
All the best. Mine's estimated sometime next week. Not sure when. Will know on Monday. Today's my Day 7 on PUregon. Hate the jabs though.

Ondine,

thanks! yours will be real soon too. All the best to you as well

Don't worry, after that, you won't need to jab Puregon anymore but I heard that the Progesterone jabs are worse!

En Hui,
good luck for the ER! for me, i took about 10 jabs of puregon and then proceeded to do ER liao. btw, what is ACU har?

ondine,
perservere on! just a few more jabs to go!

Hi Ondine/en hui

Yes, Progesterone jab is worst, "buttok" very very painful after the jab..

Ondine, Wah, u also be the next one huh, hmm.. just thinking when is my turn. All the best to you too.

Hi Koalatree

I am back to this thread. I will try to prepare my body better for the FET, Please share with me your experience in selecting a TCM doctor. I have no idea about TCM at all. Which is a better choice, to take TCM medicine or go for acupunture? What is your recommended TCM doctor? Is Thong Chai or EYS better?

Hi En Hui,
Finally u have reach the stage of the ER and ET!!! Baby Dust for u. I'll b going KKIVF on Monday morn for my blood test and ultrasound scan again. cross fingers.

Anyone experience backpain during lurcin injection? My backache is killing me.

Hi Koalatree,
of course i still remember u.
I am going to start mine soon... quite worried and scared.
Can someone just summarise the procedure of IVF (although i know the amount and the dosage are up to individual) and the meaning of the abbreviations used here so that newbies like me can better understand what you gals are talking about?

Thanks!

Hi Jo,

I am now with EYS, Dr Xia Rong, have started with her just 2 months, so can't comment on the effect. But find her very gentle, patience and very frank to you. But but, the down side is she is very expensive and only spend a week in Singapore for every month. If I want to do ACU, I need to go to another accupuntualist which I don't really prefer.

Jo, I think there is no "good or bad" abt the sinsehs. To me, I think it is your luck if their medicine can make you conceive. I was with JE sinseh for 2 years, nothing happened, but some of my close friends get pregnant after taking her med for less than 6 months, who has cyst, serious endo and ando.

I also know that Thong Chai not bad, not expensive and yet effective. But to me, it is out becos I can't make appointment and the waiting hour is very very long during working hour and it will affect my job.

So which TCM you want to choose is depends on so many factors.

Can you please enable your private message function so that I can e-mail you the TCM and ACU list to you for your consideration?

I think is a bit lenghty to put the TCM and ACU details here.

One last point is you don't need to worry, my friend's wife who has failed IVF twice but had conceived under TCM recently. I really happy for him.... This is a real life example. Cheers.

Jo

Sorry, forgot to tell you one thing, I read from other thread that you may want to try the meiling street ACU. Want to highlight to you is they are using the "burn" style for the ACU, (I heard some sort like putting the burner on your stomach) some of the sisters here really can't tahan the pain and end up give up the ACU totally.

Koalatree

Thanks for your info. I will give meiling st sinseh a try. I have been to the JE sinseh once, but I don't really like her style and booking system.

Stacy,

you should get your menses in stage 1. Depending on the length of your cycle, it should be between 10 to 14 days after you start Lucrin.

My menses was delayed and still did not come when I went for my followup scan and bloodtest, that's why I was put on another week of supression.

Hi everyone,
saturday was the first day of my menses and I was told today to take microgynon for 21 days before I start my 1st injection.
Did anyone have similar experience?
What's the very first type of injections that I will be put on?

Hi En Hui, congrats! now, you can join me at the "2ww" thread! there's already about 5 or 6 of us at the same stage and lots of sharing going on... welcome and lots of bb dust for you...
kao_babydust.gif

there's also mickey and ondine that's around the same stage as you right? so, gals, how's everything so far?

do take care and good luck to all!

Good Luck! Ondine

By thw way, did anyone of you using freeze sperm for the procedure ICSI of IVF? As the Dr advise us to freeze sperm ( in case no more sperm), but I think fresh one better, right?

Hi En Hui and Ondine,
good luck to both of you!
Relax, have a good rest and take care of yourself...
kao_babydust.gif

Hi Stacy,
I agree with you that fresh one is better as the quality of the frozen ones may be affected by the thawing process.
Did you check with your doc about that?

Hi,
Had my ET yesterday and transferred 2 embryos. We wanted 3 but my doctor counselled against it. Oh well, he knows best. Haven't been doing much. Watching tv and surfing. Felt cooped up so husband drove me to the park nearby and we sat there for a while. It was just nice to have some fresh air.

Koala, I am just 30. Last night had some mild cramping and this morning too. A little bit worried, but I haven't been doing anything to cause the cramping so I don't know. *worried*

Ondine

hmm.. just wonder y your doc transfer Chole 3 but for you only 2? I think age is a factor? older then put more? Hmmm. don't understand.

You call your doctor to check? Actually is the most difficult period for you now. But stay positive, ok?

Koala,
He wrestled about putting in 3 I think. But eventually he decided he didn't want to risk it. I wanted 3 to increase my chances but he saw it as risking triplets and he didn't want me to go through that if necessary. I'm also quite scared of triplets.

And yes, if you're older, they'll put in more. On average, I think they put in 3 if you're about 35 and over.

Ondine

Hmm... twins good enough, right?
happy.gif
Asking abt this is me still "arguing" with Hb, how many we are going to put in..apart from the risk of multiple pregnancy, he said we can't afford to have 3..

You rest more hoh, take this opportunity to be "lazy" and talk to your embies, it helps.

So, when is your test date?

Hi, I am back from my 1 week mc.

Ondine, I also have mild cramping and lots of gas in the tummy. This morning when I look for clothes to wear for work, I almost can't find any because most of my bottoms feels very tight now. Might have to go out and buy a few with rubber waist band. Are you back to work already?

kolatree, decision on how many to transfer also depends on your egg quality. I think of the quality are quite good, dr will ask you to transfer fewer.

En,
Thanks for making me feel better. Dr said don't let uterus contract or do anything that'll make it contract and I didn't do anything and I cramped, so got worried.

I'm on MC right through till test date and even after. Took leave. So all I wear these days are just shorts and t shirts.

Yes, Koala, I talk to the embies quite a bit. My husband wanted to name them Punch and Judy! I gave him a very dirty look!

Koala,
Yes, I'm resting the whole two weeks. And if it's positive, till January. I've got a lot of leave to clear so figured it would be a good time to take it.

What stage are you at now, Koala?

Ondine, so envious of you. At least you can relax and not worry about work during your 2ww.

Koala, I also transfered 2. I don't think there is a fixed policy, I think it all depends on your age and egg quality and dr will advice accordingly. So when are you going to see Dr SF Loh?

ondine

no status now, after failed so-iui on Sept, very paranoid. I am on TCM for the time being, Should start the programme on Jan/Feb next year if Dr Loh ok.

Don't think so much, just relax will do, take this as a long holiday, ok?

en,

Hmm. you also transfer 2. I thought Dr Loh always advise to transfer 3?

I will be seeing him on this Thursday.

koala

The program that u mentioned is it IVF? I am also considering this route on early next year.

How many times have you tried so-iui? Only once?
I tried 3 times normal iui without success and have decided to take a break this month.

I heard Dr Xia Rong is expensive. How much do you need to spend per month for seeing her. Is it ok to tell?

Hi atlas

I think we "met" at iui support thread.

Yes, is IVF.

Yes, I only tried so-iui once, but have 2 iui last year, both failed. I think I have no luck on iui, so don't want to waste times and the cost is not cheap, I spent abt $2,500 for my last so-iui in TMC.

And I noticed that I din ovulate last cycle, immediately after so-iui, cos of the stimualtion drugs took in so-iui. Dr Xia Rong told me that I have to let my body rest for at least 2 cycles before proceed to IVF.

Yes, Dr Xia very expensive, I have to pay S$280 (including consulation and powders for one month). If you are a endo sufferer, she will advise you to take brew med every day. That is for S$3.70 per packet. ACU is cost S$40.00 per session. Normally, 3 ACU sessions on day 11,12 and 13 conducted. So I spent abt S$450.00 per month.

But she is in Singapore 1 week for each month, so this may be down side if you choose her.

Which sinseh are you seeing now? You are under which RE?

en hui, mind sharing with me your experience with dr zhou? do u only do accu? Do you have to brew herbs? or was it in pills form?

koala, i am still comtemplating if should make an appt with xia rong cos she is only here once a month. I prefer to be monitored more closely on the first fer weeks/months.

for all of you who are on 2ww, all the very best to you.

Zebby,

I'm only seeing Dr Zou for acupuncture. I did ask her if I need to take any herbs but she said no need since I am healthy and ours is mainly male factor. Dr Zou and Xia Rong are good friends and they use the same acupuncture method. You may want to try her out.

Hi Zebby

Understand, if your concern is she is not in Singapore all the times, then I think you need to get other sinseh.

I forgot to highlight to you, Dr Xia has given me her personal e-mail add, so when she is not in Singapore, I can always e-mail to her if I have any doubt. As for the ACU, I will do at Dr Zou place when she is not around. So I am ok with this arrangement.

And I like her is becos she will attend to my call personally when I call the clinic so many times (when she is in Singapore) when I have decided to do my so-iui. She really take the effort to explain to me over the phone for more than 1/2 hour. I think not every sinseh will do that. At least not for my previous one, who was popular too.

I really hope I can like others to succeed under her, with/without IVF.

koala
Thank you for yr response. I have heard a lot of good feedback about Dr Xia from ladies in the thread. Just that besides her cost, she is only in Sin for 1week every month. By the way, what is the purpose of acu? Is it to help in ovulation?

I have recently switched to see Dr Koh Lee Hoon. My RE is Prof PC Wong at NUH.

en hui,
Today I go down to KKH to sign up the consent form which I booked to start in Nov. Dr told I need only to transfer 2 in my first attempt. The counsellor said this forum (sporemotherhood)is informative and can provide supports for pple like us. My last af is on 28 Sept and didn't come in Oct, some spottings these few days and hopefully come on the early month so I can start injection by end of this month.
What's the grade of your 2 embryo transfered? Are you now currently on HSG jab?Daily?

Good luck to all you gals.

Stacy, the 2 embbies I've transfered are grade 4. I guess Dr will recommend those under 30 to early 30 to transfer 2 instead of 3 but again, it also depends on the grade at the end of the day. Did you see Caroline for counselling? Surprised that she also know of this forum, maybe some of the cycle buddies here mentioned to her before but it's true that we can get support and advice from here since there are many other sisters who have gone through the same thing.

I am on pregnyl jabs once every 3 days. Tomorrow will be my last jab liao. Keeping fingers cross.

Atlas, Dr Zou told me that acupuncture helps to regulate our hormones, promote blood circulation and at the same time strengthen our womb lining for implantation. Ladies who are trying to conceive naturally are adviced to go for acupuncture a few days before ovulation to 'prepare' the body for it.
