IUI/SO-IUI: Anyone?

@mmmgal Good luck! i try to ignore my bloating belly.. everytime my gynae ask if i have any negative reaction, i say minimal. haha.. but i know i got bulging bloated belly.. i just tell myself: I'm fat! Lol..

The nurses in the clinic tells me its important to relax, don't get stressed up about it. And i told my hubby not to ask me watch cry-cry or scary movie / dramas with him. I'll just stick to light hearted comedy for now! Keep your spirits up! I'm hopeful for my 2nd IUI tomorrow too!

Baby dust to you!!

Hello all, my gyne prescribed me Letrezol to take on Day 2 - Day 6 of mensus, 1 box of Gonal F to administer jab daily from Day 7 - Day 10. Today is day 10 and i went back for ultrasound to check on egg growth. My egg is ready at 18mm, then i was given ovidriel jab today, sperm washing for iui scheduled tomorrow morning.

@iibears, i think everyone's treatment might be slightly different depending on how your hormones / egg is developing. I'd suggest you follow / listen closely to your fertility specialist's instructions..

[USER=69105]@mummymich
i feel the same way as your husband, just forget about the money spent. Its a blessing you didnt have to take the daily jabs! i abhor needles and make my hubby administer them for me daily (Day 7 - 10).
Thanks relax bear! Should be doing my first visit Monday and will share my experience wanted to hear from fellow kkh soiui so I roughly know what to expect in the next two weeks.

If your menses come tomorrow (Sun), go to your clinic on Monday. The Letrezol / jabs are to be taken Day 2 of your menses so Monday is fine.

Today is considered your Day 1 then. Tmr your clinic is likely closed so I'll suggest you to call them up first thing Monday to inform, see what your OBGYN says.

I've had that dilemma w my OBGYN also last cycle and the clinic informed me that Day 3 of menses is not too late to start for me. Ideally Day 2 is best to start oral medication for me. So, see what your OBGYN says first. Don't panick and over worry. It's happened already. Ask if for your condition, Day 3 (Monday) is still considered okay. Have a good rest, ok? Nights!

Hello Everyone!

May I know the cost / scheduling appointment of doing IUI in private hospital and gov hospital? Anyone can advise?

I am TTC for more than a year, previously went for a check at Thomson women clinic (Serangoon). The doc advised me to keep trying naturally for a year if no result, then decide what is next.
Ours was at kkh referred by polyclinic so it's 50% subsidised and gst absorbed by govt. Below is a break down of our costs.

First visit:
Full blood count with thalassemia screen
Rubella virus igg antibody
Ahti-mullerian hormone
Progesterone
Total: $124.40

Semen analysis
Total: $180

2nd visit (when all results from first visit was good)
Hsg
Total: $199.50 (medisave)

3rd visit (hsg results good and to proceed with iui)
Consultation
Hiv
Syphilis
Hep B
Hep C
Total: $182

Total till date: ~ $685.90

Hope this helps!

Thank you for sharing! I just did a GEC Hysteroscopy to remove a Polyp & targeting to start SO-IUI with KKH Doc Veronique in Jan '20 if nothing goes wrong. Feeling scared, nervous esp when looking at the success rates and had no one to talk to as my friends have all conceived naturally.

Hello! I have also just started my first SOIUI in KKH earlier this month. After the first heavy flow day, call the KKIVF centre and they will advice whether you should come on that day, or the next day, to collect your injections and folic acid. A nurse will also teach you how to do the injections. After 5 injections, you will start to go for ultrasound scans. The scans happen every alternate day, unless the doc decides otherwise. The doc/nurses will guide you along.

The only part I felt very blur was during the scans. Haha wah everyone reach very early to queue outside the KKIVF centre glass door. Once it opens at 7.30am, follow the queue in, press queue #1 and there will be 2 slips of queue number issued. Write your NRIC on one of them, attach your injection form (they will give you when they teach you how to do injections) and put it into this tray. And wait for your queue number to be called.

Hope this helps! :)

I just went for my first scan on Monday, second scan today (Wednesday), then the doc ask me to come again tomorrow for a scan. Not sure why so soon and what to expect! Fingers crossed.

I am dying mine in a few days. Keep me posted. Did you do the natural iui or with meds?
Mine is with medi and jects. Don't worry the procedure is painless.
It's just me. I have been experiencing bad cramp near ovulation since I started the fertility treatments. Every step hurts, feels as if the womb is going to drop out (I describe as minus 3x the pain of HSG. Never use to get cramps of any sort before that. But doc says not everyone experience it. But it's also a sign to tell us that ovulation is happening.

I feel you. same for me that my friends all conceiving naturally. Haha that's why i am here too.

I am also with dr veronique at KKH. Though usually dont get to see her because it is the other panel docs who usually sees me..

i get occasional cramps on Day 2 piui.. i think its okay, bearable. So far, to date, HSG x-ray procedure was the most painful for me. For this 2nd try, i took oral meds from Day 2 to Day 6 of mensus, Day 7 to Day 10 injections of Gonal F.

Subsidised patient. 1 cycle of IUI estimated is about $2,000-$2500, can use medisave, but there are some costs which cannot go through medisave (about $200).

I didnt manage to complete my first cycle... it was a cancelled cycle for me :( waiting to do the next one.

Your iui did they give you meds?

Correct me if I am wrong I feel the pricing is very high for subsidy patient. You mean in this 2.5 k you will get further subsidy or you need to pay 2.5k

My IUI doesnt have meds, just the injections so far. Anyway i didnt make it to the actual IUI, and that alr chalked up 1.8k (even if it is a cancelled cycle).

There is no further subsidy. I feel the subsidy is more for the blood tests, fertility tests and all, where usually there is quite a big govt subsidy for it. Not v sure too.

I am surprised it is so expensive. I did in private no meds everything came upto 1.2k so was wondering if govt hospital was cheaper but looks like no

If you’re Singapore citizen, and below age 40, you can get co-funding of 75% or up to $1000 off IUI treatments at Govt Hospitals (Kk, NUH, SGH) starting Jan 2020. Right now IUI has no co-funding even in Govt hospital FYI https://www.heybaby.sg/raising-families/taking-care-of-your-medical-needs/co-funding-for-acp
I'm going my first so iui insemination today, trying to not have high hopes but yet at the same time hoping for a tiny miracle.

Oh the Jan 2020 cofunding, is there cap on no. of times?

Hi all! Did my insemination this morning, Dr say the sperm post washed are pretty good and overall good to go ahead. The procedure itself was relatively fast and not much pain, more of discomfort but I do feel quite abit of cramps on one side now.

Good luck! Me too on my tww :) lets jiayou!

May I ask if SO-IUI cycles can be done back to back? Or is there a need to rest?

My first SO IUI was a cancelled one, so didnt manage to do the actual IUI procedure, just only did all the jabs before that. One of the doc and a nurse told me need to rest first to let all the injections wear out; another doc told me can try and they will do a scan first to see if conditions are ideal to try. So I am also abit confused.

Realised something about KK today - i was a subsidised patient initially when I was referred from polyclinic then to KK. And after that to KKIVF centre. But once step into KKIVF centre, then will be considered as private patient already! There is no distinction between subsidised or non-subsidised patients.

Hence probably why the cost not so much different from private clinics. V surprised by this, I should have gone private previously then! Sigh.

Though from 1 Jan 2020 onwards, there will be the $1,000 govt co-fund for govt hosps. Apparently it is only for up to 3 times usage, according to KK.

Wow so ivf in kk you will only save from the govt cofounding and can use medisave. Rest charges similar
