IUI/SO-IUI: Anyone?


Min81, bbbb and Peggy, take care, stay strong, look after your body and don't give up. Sometimes my mum comforts me by saying 'when the time comes, the flower will bloom'. We will be successful, it's just a matter of time. Meanwhile recognize that life is just as happy and fulfilling with just our DH.

TTC can be quite an emotional roller coaster ride. But i like what Ganbatte said about 'every effort is a step closer to our goal'. Yes, let's all continue to jia you!

Will probably try IUI next cycle as this cycle is likely to fail as we didnt bd during fertile time. But it's okay... hope that af comes soon so I can try on a new fresh cycle.
 
Morning ladies, i went for my D2 scan hoping to start my 2nd SO-IUI but unfortunately i can't becoz there were cyst on both ovaries. one on each side. Feel so lousy. I have to skip this mth and try the next. Hopefully the cyst disappears.

Min81: Im sorry for ur lost. stay strong and never give up. We are all here for support. hugz.
 
Jess, Kitty, thanks for sharing your stories. Quite inspiring. TTC is also changing my relationship with DH. We go in to get our results (his SA, my bloodwork) today and I go for my FSH jab. Wish us luck!

Min, it's wonderful you can still keep your positive thinking, wishing you a quick recovery!
 
hi Hope, just to share... my D2 scan also showed cyst, but after a while, it disappeared. Sometimes it is just egg follicles that doesnt mature and will disintegrate. "Cyst" comes and goes according to the hormone in our cycle. HOwever, if the follicles dont disintegrate properly, it will become cyst. Dont give up and continue on the journey! Jia you!
 
Peggy: Did they gave you birth control pill to take for 21 days? They told me to take for 21 days and it will help to suppress the cyst.
 
My AF is supposed to come yesterday or today but still no sign yet. I gave in and did a home pregnancy test this morning but it came back negative. What a bummer. Now waiting for AF to just come.

I'm taking a break this month and will try our 3rd IUI in May. Hopefully 3rd time will be a charm!
 
Hi Hope, no. I wasnt given any pills. They just monitor the cyst, and after a month or so... it disappeared.

Dr Lim diagnosed me with mild PCO though and I was given metformin.

Lil Ponyo... maybe it's too early? No AF means got hope.
 
Peggy: Thtz gd to hear. Im hoping that next mth will go smooth without any hindrance. this mth now just have to relax and keep my mind free. Im thinking of going somewhere relaxing. Take short break.

Lil Panyo: Don't give up and dun think abt AF.
 
Hey girls, I did the FSH jab today, and boy did it hurt!

Felt like someone stabbed me in the gut. But the pain went away after a while. Can't believe I may have to do another two rounds. Also good news is that my follicles are growing well, 3 potentials at 7,8,9 mm.

BTW we got DH's SA results today. Sperm count good but morphology and motility both <3%. Doc says he should be able to improve it by wearing loser clothing and keeping cool. Wonder if you girls have any other tips? Does Ginseng help?

Lil Ponyo, sorry to hear that, but new cycle means a fresh start!
 
Jen, my dh problem is worse. Z e r o. M o r p h o l o g y. Doc ask him to:
Wear boxers
No jeans
Wear pleated pants to work
Spray area with cold water for a minute
Use bamboo or jade seat padding

Hope it helps. We are also still waiting for improvement.
 
Jen mine too is <2%. Hubby body is not liang but he perspire like crazy. Even when he eats in an air-conditioned place, he wil sweat as though he is eating in a coffeeshop wif no fan. Tats y when he wears no matter wat, u named it; be it jeans, shorts, boxers his below area stil hot n covered wif sweat. So I can't do much. Just can pray n hope his morphology wil improve eversince he has started eating his supplements.
 
I am having really bad headache tonight, researched on the net and apparently it's a common side effect from the Gonal F. Anyone else have this? Is it safe to take panadol? The pain was so bad, I took some panadol just now.

Jen: I was ok with gonal f jab. Only the 2nd round I was very bloated.. Rest well and drink more water.. Hopefully the headache will go away
 
Jessica: I went to my fertility doc.. His plan is to stimulate my ovaries to produce as many eggs as possible.. So he will put me on clomid from cd2-7. Then cd 8 onwards will take gonal f jab and monitor the follicles.. The no of jab will depend on how fast the follicles grow..
 
Saralyn, thanks for the encouragement. I did second jab on Saturday, still got headache. Read on the net that it is a common side effect, affects >1 in 10. Guess my body is quite sensitive. When I first started Metformin I had bad nausea.

Going in to check my follie size tomorrow! Praying for one healthy follicle.

Recovering well but will still stay home for a while longer before resuming work.. Am thinking of going straight to IVF for next cycle.. But gotta consult dr first and see how..

Girls, I just came back from seeing my the other gynea... I have been spotting non stop and decided to go see gynea.. He told me is due to hormonal imbalance.. And I asked how come
Suddenly and we concluded highly dued to all the fertility treatment I had starting dec. sigh.. Am on progesterone pills for the next 14 days to stop my spotting.. I'm out for this month and maybe the next few months... He also suggested I go straight to ivf since my body reacted so "badly" to those drugs.

Can anyone recommend a good gynae who is willing to perform IUI under sedation? I have vaginismus and DH motility is not good either.

Take care of your body Saralyn. That is most important. Once you're feeling better, you'll have renew energy to try again. Yes, and to every one who are in their 2ww and trying this month, all the best! We need to remind ourselves that all we can ever do is try and leave what we cannot control aside and out of our mind. Saralyn, take care yah! When your gynae diagnosed hormonal imbalance, did he do blood test?
Is it becos the plan A plan B medicines?

Min81, I suggest you tiao your body, probably go acupuncture or something liddat.
 
Saralyn, did you go see Charles Lim today? I was there in the morning too. Which drugs were you on? What are your diagnosed hormone issues? Thanks for your encouragement btw

My follies didn't grow much over the weekend, but Doc says they are ready for their 'growth spurt' now. Last Sat, CD10 I had three in one ovary at 7,8,9mm. Now I have two dominant follies, one in each ovary, 10 and 11mm each. Doc says both likely to grow (gasp!) and ovulation should be this weekend.

Dragon, I am same CD as you, but my follies so much smaller! Prob cos two growing at the same time. 18mm is good size, should be ovulating soon!

Juz saw prof wong.. He says everything looks good.. Asked him about IVF but he said cos i managed to conceive with IUI on 1st try, we shld try it again.. He said i can do it right after the 3 mths so we don't waste time.. After that, if really cannot then do IVF straightaway.. He was very encouraging and told me many times that the miscarriage was not thru any fault of mine.. All precautions had been taken and it was most probably a chromosomal abnormality that caused the foetus not to be able to grow properly.. And that this miscarriage does not mean i have a higher risk next time.. Felt better after talking to him.. Will rest another week then go back to wk..

min81: Ya.. Why want to rush into IVF? You did it in first IUI and I'm sure you can in your 2nd one. You must really rest well and take care of your body k!

Dragon: Good Luck!! the cramp is a good sign that you egg is coming out!! All the best to your IUI tomorrow.

Jen: Nope.. I went to the other gynea who operated on me. I only went to Dr Lim for fertility treatment which is the Plan A and B. For your follicles, I'm sure they will grow big with all the jabs, dont worry.. Stay happy and stress free..

For my hormone imbalance, I have been experiencing it after Dec.. Before that I was perfectly fine. Cycle is always 28 days and period is 5-7 days. So, my gynea scanned and checked my cervix, he found nothing wrong. I told him I actually went for clomid and gonal F in Dec and Mar. He told me high chance my body is reacting too much to those drugs that my body can't remove them now.. Sigh.. He gave me some pill and iron pill for now to stop my spotting.. He did not say I cant try now, but he says no point in trying coz we will not succeed.. Anyway, he asked me to rest for the next 14 days and think about my next step which is to try IUI again or IVF.. He gave me afew recommendation too..

Oooo I went for this AMH blood test too. He told me from this test I can decide to go for IUI or IVF..

Anyway, girls, pls take good care of your body!!! Hope to see some good news soon!!!
 
Hi Saralyn, sorry to hear about that. Did you gynae give you any blood tests to check all your hormone levels? The blood tests usually give pretty accurate feedback. Sorry to hear you had such a bad reaction. I hope you feel better soon!

I was just surprised because I might have twins with two eggs. I'd love twins, but my hubby wants one at a time.

Dragon, not doing IUI (just on this thread cos was recommended to hang out here :p) good luck with your IUI!

Hi saralyn, don't worry k.. Juz take the time to relax and take good care of yourself.. Btw, what is the AMH blood test? Cos although i'm 31, my hubby is 41, so he's worried his sperm quality will drop if we drag too long, dat's why tot of IVF.. Prof wong told me for my age, success rate is 40%.. And since leaving my job soon, tot will be good time to do it..

Hi dragon, try and ask for mc for 2 days then stay in bed and rest.. I did that the other time.. It was a good break from work

Jen: Nope.. No blood test.. He can't find any thing wrong in the scan and check.. So, he says high chance is hormone imbalance.. hm.. If i were to go for blood test, is the CD 2 and 21 blood test right?

Min81: AMH is to see our eggs reserve.. Well, he was explaining to me that for people with endometriosis, the normal ovarian cells will be destroyed by the endo cells etc.. Thus, we will have less eggs.. OK.. I am not a medical person.. I may have interpreted his explanaton wrongly. But he told me is a known fact.. So, he strongly recommend me to go for IVF.. Stop wasting my time.. and go for something that has a higher success rate.. I guess my this gynea is quite aggressive.. Anyway, he doesn't do IVF, he gave me afew recommendation of doc.. Have yet to research on those docs..

Hm.. I think DH side will not drop as they age right? Is more on the girl side.. As age catching up, our eggs will slowly disappear..
 
Hi Saralyn, you might want to think about doing the blood tests, just in case. Yup, it's the CD2 one. Might be able to give you some comfort to at least know what went wrong. Any reason why you didn't go back to Dr Lim?

I got 2 eggs too. 1 on both side. And both 18mm.
But i dun want twins. Haha...
My gynae said this we cant control, concentrate on getting preg first. Hee..

I'm currently not working. Keke...

This round I will make sure I rest. Previously after iui, I got many errands to run and a bb shower to attend till night. Think not enough rest.
 

Jen: I thought dr lim is more of a fertility doc. You want to try to get pregnant then go to him... So, I went back to the previous one which I always go to whenever I having some problem or my regular check for my endo.. A nice gynea.. Straight to the point for me.. My dh n I spent around 30 mins or even more in his room talking non stop..
