IUI/SO-IUI: Anyone?

Spin, did he tell u why he gave u duphaston for 3mths? After my 1st cycle of tracking with him, he asked us to try naturally for 3mths and see him again if we do not strike. But he din prescribe any duphaston. I took duphaston only after my IUI, to maintain the lining if pregnancy occurs.

He give me that because my blood test for progestrone on D21 is quite low. He did explain to me that he need to do scaning for the eggs, DH doing SA Test and do blood test on D2 and D21 to check what is hindering me from getting pregnant. I have done all this except HSG. So should I call for a follow up or wait for a while? He didn't advise me wat to do next.
Btw, u mention abt the endometrosis, I asked him about this too. Before visiting LC Cheng, I visit another gynae who diagnose me with adenomyosis (which is something like endo). But he say I didn't have. Now I'm worry is it I have the endo or adeno which he didn't find out during the scan? Or may be I think too much.
 
Spin, maybe u would like to call to ask? The nurses should be able to advise. Other than low progesterone, did u pass all the tests? I passed all the tests, that's why he asked ask to try naturally for 3mths but still no results. I keep thinking that there's something wrong with me which he din manage to diagnose. Now SO-IUI also failed, really disheartening and can't help imagining the worst. Will I ever have children?
 
babybun, I fail for the D21 test. At first my prolactin also high but after the second test, I pass that too. Never done HSG test (very scared of this test as sound very painful).

I understand how u feel. I do also keep asking myself if I will have children since have been trying almost 2 yr.
 
Spin, before I started so iui, doc advised to do hsg test to check if fallopian tubes blocked or not first. It takes less that 15 min and feels like cramping. Not as painful as I initially imagined it. But hv read that if tubes is blocked, may feel more pressure.
 
Spin - forgot to mention that 1 hr before I took the hsg test, I took panadol menstrual cos scared of pain. Not sure if that helped, but the process was bearable.
 
Whitetiger, thanks for your infor. So the doc cannot confirm if the tube is block or not straight away when doing the X-ray?? How much will it cost?

Why you gals jump straight to SO-IUI and not start from IUI?
 
The hsg test is not done by dr cheng. So normally, after the test, the dr who does the test will prepare a rep for tfc plus the xrays. I wanted to know on same day so waited for the x-rays toe out and then brought to tfc myself.

I already did 3 times iui - didn't work for me. That s why started so iui. But despite all the injections, I still end up with only 1 follicle. Sigh...

Just told my mil that this cycle failed....she was so disappointed. She has been looking at me expectantly when I started so Iui. Plus my cousin's wife is pregnant again after just giving birth few mths back. So feel doubly xian
 
I din take any panadol. It's a little painful like menstrual cramps and I bleed for a few days after the procedure. I was anxious to know the results so immediately ask the doctor after the procedure is done. Doctor ask me to wait outside, then the nurse emerge from the room 10mins later to tell me that the result is normal.
Dr Cheng did not present IUI as one of the options for me, so went straight to SO-IUI.
 
bluenose, yes, I saw Biswas for my 1st preg also. He is not bad.. again I suffered a bad experience with him during my ovarian drilling. But I reflected a while and felt I am more comfortable with him. If not, it will be LC Foong but I worry abt the high cost in Glen E.

Ckim, yeah, every preg is worrying esp when its hard to conceive, so want to make sure there is not set back.
 
Hi all, I had called up to make appt. Lucky clinic staff said Prof Wong would be doing TOO scan even though he was suppose to be on leave. Think he still will do for his usual patients ba. This round of AF like quite heavy, t oday only 1st day already alot lor. At least today I don't feel so blue compared to yesterday.

Hey spin- he did not really suspect that I have endometrosis. However, I have 1 cyst that he can see and I have cramps during my menses for the first 2 days.

Tweetie- I have seen lc foong before. He is quite nice but the nurse follow up skills are terrible. He also said we are fine and did not suggest any fertility help. He also did not detect that I have low progesterone level. So.... On hindsight, I was lucky to change doc.
 
Babybun-I think it was 75 for 7 days. Btw, I dug up my previous progesterone test results and it was 13.5. Wat is the level for that to be considered low? but I don't remember dr cheng saying anything abt it.
 
Whitetiger, I was on gonal-f for 8 days and I have 3 follicles. Dr Cheng have to trigger ovulation on my day 12 because there will be 5 follicles if we delay any longer. I started the jabs on day 4 of my cycle. Which day did u start the jabs, could it be that u started the jabs late, that's why there's only 1 follicle?

Whitetiger, Mine is 21.8 nmol/L. LC Cheng mention that the level have to be over 35.
But I have some spotting after O. So maybe that is the reason why he give me duphaston.

Dun think too much. But u can also asked him during your next visit.

duphaston i read a bit online that u should only take it after O, cos before O ur body runs high in estrogen, whereas duphaston is progesterone i think.

tweetie: wanted to ask u if u flew in ur first trimester?
 
Hi all, is there a specific timeframe to do blood test to test for progrestone? Can't remember if it is after menses or after ovultn? Thinking of redoing the test
 
whitetiger-progetserone level normally done after menses, U do it on the 21st day, counting from the 1st day of yr menses. Hope this helps.
 
dear all, sorry for the delay. Could not believe it when i tested positive. AF was late but i did not test till 2 weeks after as i felt no symptoms, and will see doc tomorrow just to be sure. Definitely do not be discouraged. I had only 1 follicle which grew to the right size, and was not even optimistic. Complication now is that i will be travellign a lot in the next few months for work (can't quit at the moment), so have to pray hard nothing goes wrong.
 
Mel-congrats. Grabbing babydust from u. Hope will be like u k BFP. Another sista graduate from here & is prof wong hand, so maybe next will be my turn??? Haha. U update us tomorrow wor. I be seeing prof @27/12 for TOO.
Think tis would be the best christmas present........
 
Mel- congrats! Great news!! Hopefully the rest will have good news soon as well. Meanwhile, take care of yourself and don't over exert.
 
went to see Prof today and the gestational sac is visible, but have to return in 2 weeks to see if there is any heartbeat...so got to wait a bit more.
Bluenosebear, all the best for the TOO. I think prof is pretty good. U r in good hands.
ckim or anybody else - do u know of any gynaes at NUH who are good? Prof wong doesn't handle cases after first trimester..
 
Mel- Tweetie & I were seeing Biswas before transfer to PC Wong. He is gd for aminocentesis if there is a need to, also gd in multiples. But he like PC, will answer when u ask question. Another is Mary Ruff( don know I spell correct or not), she very TLC, but she ex la, alot rich pple went to her. If not ask Prof & see whom he recommend.

changni, I was like half dead during 1st tri this time, so I didn't fly. When I had no. 1, I flew during 1st tri coz I didnt know I was preggy. Is it for hols or biz for u? Check with dr.

Mel-congrats!!! I am seeing Prof Biswas like what bluenose said. He is good in multiples and high risk preg. U can ask Prof wong to recommend to u also. Do u have a pref for male or female?

whitetiger, cordyceps is good for men to "bu" their soldiers, my hubby took pure cordyceps w tcm med all the time.

Hello everyone

I am new to this thread. After trying for 2+ years. I think I need to consider IUI.

Do you girls know the difference between IUI and SO-IUI?

I am going to ask my gynae what is the next step for me after 3 rounds of clomid with gd ovulation but no baby outcome yet

IUI is natural induction whereas SO-IUI is with use of hormone support like injection or together with clomid and injection to increase the chances of ovulation.

Did gynae share with you the cause of infertility? Have you ruled out male infertility portion too?

Went for TOO tis morning. Right & left ovary has one 11mm follicle each, lining is 8.5. Prof say scan again on Fri then if everyting ok, IUI on next Mon. Hopefully two will grow Siew Siew then at least I got 2 eggs, so more chance??Hehe

TOO-can't remember the exact terms, was posted earlier over here. But is to scan the follicles growth, then Dr would know when U get to ovulate soon then do IUI.
 
I was on Tablet Clomid 100mg from 2-6days of menses. Then on 12day of menses would need to do scan to determine the size of follicles. From there Dr would know to continue or terminate the cycle, becos all depend on the growth of follicle & any ovulation.

I gather that SO-IUI involves injections to stimulate. My dr believes that if tablet works then don't need to go through the unnecessary injections. Some pple also over-stimulate then would have too many follicles, likely would terminate the cycle or convert to IVF. As it would have high risk of multiple pregnancy.

I think there is a limit to the number of cycles of clomid right? How many cycles of clomid you have gone through?

Cos I was oredi on 3 cycles le. So this cycle I going free & easy myself and will go ovulation scan on CD13. Till then will ask him what is the next step. If I need IUI, hopefully is without injection...so scary

hi foodieshare, LC Foong should be good coz I saw him for my 2nd opinion. Normally it's 6 cycles of clomid before you proceed for further invasive treatment.

For me, I had about 9 cycles of clomid. 1st 6 cycles with no signs of ovulation but after doing ovarian drilling and restartg clomid, I was ovulating well but still nvr conceive under the help of clomid.

This one I m having is with IUI w/o clomid, I am rather surprised too. But now, just hope for the best and nothing goes wrong.

Foodieshare-Tweetie answered yr questions? I was also on Clomid for 6 cycles, checked blood test with progesterone without any scan, had ovulation but no good news. Done ovarian drilling then go straight to IUI with clomid. In the midst of 2nd IUI le.
I probably be doing last IUI if this round failed. Would discuss with Prof, what to do next, likely be IVF.

Dr Foong is very gd in comforting but I dunno whether I will be successful under his advise.

Anyway if I were to go IUi I may have to chg doc cos private is gonna to be ex.
 
Foodieshare-But in NUH, we also pay as private rate. But if U are on jabs, then would be more ex, as the jabs are more costly. IUI rate is still quite ok in private, but for IVF then would be quite a different ba.

I also hope for a "hao" but so far, it's still a clue, gotta wait for the 22nd wk major scan next month. U know NUH is not very super on to scan the gender of the child. So u r the kind who must scan at every vist, u will be disappointed if u go NUH. But I ok la coz I had my no. 1 there and more or less got used to this regime.

U did OD also? Under who? I did mine with Biswas but sad lo, ended up major op. But thanks god, it didn't damage my system after I insisted on HSG.

foodieshare, LC Foong was formerly from NUH too, u should be in good hands but like u, I am more worried about the price I had to pay for the convenience of a private practice, so in the end, I went back to NUH.

But in NUH, u have to take note timing is not as flexi as private, the slots for scanning is strictly in the am and waiting time sometimes can be long, so u hv to think twice if u do not have a flexi work schedule. Besides that, think more or less the same unless u proceed to IVF, then definitely in NUH, u can enjoy the govt subsidy.
 
Tweetie- think u had forgotten, nvm. My OD also done by Biswas, was done in end of July'10. Agar baby is healthy k already la.
Done my scan tis am, I done my opk(clearblue set that is digital one) & showed it is ovulation today. So told Prof. He scanned & show 1 follicle 14mm & the other 16mm. He tested Nuh opk, becos he say he trust Nuh one more. Nuh opk line was not as dark as the control line, he says still able to do IUI on Mon. I was like heng ah, becoz he says if Nuh opk +ve then I will try naturally myself for tis cycle.
I have to give myself Ovirdel @sat, that is my new year present lor.
Hope that will have bigger present by 2 weeks time after iui. So dramatic le. Was thinking in my mind that maybe I need to do iui today, also worry that can't do iui as ovulation might tIe place on Sat.
Now really leave everything to pai pai la. I felt more relaxed tis round, maybe becos all the scans, my hubby k accompany me, becos scans near to festive time, so don need to work.
Still thinking if fail tis round don know wan to go for last round iui or straight to ivf, becos going 33 next year le, sign.....
