IUI/SO-IUI: Anyone?

Oh my gynea says must do hsg if wanna do iui.. coz if the tubes are block the sperm cannot travel up.. went for my hsg this morning.. not pain at all.. i worried for a few days.. phew.. but needa postpone my iui coz I'm travelling on my expected ovulation day ..

so u gonna go for iui?
Yeah.. Schedule in Aug already if these 2 mths cannot get preg naturally.. But really hope can..

Sorry for the late reply. Was busy with work and traveling. After IUI I was very bloated and had sore breasts all the way to 10dpiui. Was hoping it was a success but AF came two days ago. Blood test supposed to be tomorrow.
Ohh, in that case what the follow up procedures with your gynae? How many days of bed rest did you have? Will you be trying IUI again? I'm gonna start mine soon (IUI) , my AF should come within these few days.

Thanks for the detailed explanation babe!! Really really appreciate it!! Ok. Shall decide between KKH and NUH then to cut costs since both are government hospitals. How much are you paying at NUH?
Sorry for overlooking your messages! :(
DH and I opted for the private treatment in NUH, so the fees depend on the gynaes' position (i.e., Senior consultant, head of dept etc). I choose the cheapest (first visit is $115.56, subsequent visit is 94.16).

My first gynae was TMC clinic, but its too expensive for me (one visit costs about ~$200). And it would be better to have a second opinion so I went NUH after.

My review is next month. I'm with KK under subsidized rate. Can't really choose the date. Yeah I think we will still try IUI since this is only my first time. Heard that 2nd time onwards will have better chance.

After IUI I only have 1 day HL.

Is HSG a compulsory usually? Doesn't seem that it is in the normal fertility tests. Am thinking of going to go for our first consult this week before AF comes next week.

*PS: why does it keep saying that my post might be regarded as spam or have inappropriate content? Is it because I’m a newbie??

Must we rest at home after IUI? Thou can go back to work after the procedure is done?

Thanks for the info, Baby dust to u yeah :) Yah IUI is suitable for some, But I think for morphology wise best bet is IVF (for my case).. There are indeed some cases IUI will work for low morphology, but the chances are very very low.

What tests did the gynae do? My question is, how much earlier before AF do you start going for consultation ? How many consultations is NUH recommending before actual IUI?
Thanks for your help and best of luck to you and your hubby!!!!!!!

Tests such as thyroid, HSG, HIV, pap smear, vaginal swab to test for bacteria (i forgot the species of the bacteria). I didn't plan on how early before AF was I going to consult the doctor. I just booked the earliest appointment slot available (it can take as long as 3 months, so fastest fingers first), and gynae will assess your situation and advise accordingly what to monitor/consume in your following month of AF.

For my case, it took me 3 months to finally booked an appt:
1st meet up: detailed explanation on what to expect and proceed with blood tests
-I remembered HSG have to avoid AF days and avoid nearing ovulation period. So trying to book the appointment at the right time is a hassle.
-Transvaginal scan also got specific dates to scan (I think CD6 to CD12?)

So by the time you meet your gynae, it will be 1 to 2 months later because of the different appointment test dates you have to commit before getting assessed by your gynae.
2nd meet up-explanation of blood tests, how to move on from here (see if you want to start with clomid, IUI or gynae thinks u can have a chance at going natural), and prescription of respective medication for subsequent procedures.

The whole procedure took me about 4 to 5 months. So don't wait (unless you go private). RSVP first then slowly think whether u want IUI/IVF/Clomid etc.

How was the transvaginal scan? Was it bearable?

I see. Baby dust to you too! Everything's normal with DH and myself. But had a laps last year and gynae said if I cannot get pregnant 6 month after laps I should seek help. So here I am.

I’m now waiting for both KKH and NUH to call me back and advise costs and procedures. Hope can start as soon as possible.

Virtus’ 880 bucks seems too cheap for private practise. I wonder whether there are any other hidden costs, even though their website says it includes lab tests and specialist fees.

You making me nervous to book appointment ASAP! How much did NUH quote for IUI? TMC is 2-3k.
NUH per IUI cycle is S$600 (only for the procedure, excluding medications & consultations).

If for 3 tries it would be $1,800.00. Is your amount based on 3 tries? or including blood work, consultations and medications?

Wow, there's lesser things to worry compared to me (1 blocked tube, mild pcos and low morphology) hahaha. Good luck to you ya, will you be trying IUI again for the 2nd time?

The ladies on the phone didn’t mention leh. Which clinic is Dr Shakina in? I will call directly instead of the mainline. How do you find her? Gentle? Thanks for your reply as always!!

Ohh, I got the figures after our situation was assessed. Maybe you should consult too so they can assess your case? Dr Shakina is cheerful, gentle and explains everything single situation with clear details (& what to expect etc). But there are other users who think otherwise. So I'm not sure as well (DPDP).

But one thing for sure she wants me to try IUI thrice prior to IVF.. which to me and my husband is a waste of time and money. No worries ya, glad to be of help :)

I went for IUI with NUH, with consultation+procedure+meds etc, I pay about $600. But... I am a subsidized patient.
I heard from the doctor yesterday, they also offer SO-IUI.

Dr Shakina very nice doctor, I am always happy when I see her on duty for the MO duty @ the gynae section. She is gentle and always give a listening ear.

Sorry, forgot to indicate, I opted for private under NUH :)
Wha like that the price diff is actually not that significant between private and subsidized??

@Angel0811
Just checked my Bill. IUI procedure+injection is $446. excluding TOO scan, meds, etc. Is it same for you?

Ya, I went for IUI continous for 3 months. But last month onwards, i rested my body since abit dissapointed with results.

Ohhhh in that case that is really a big difference.. mine is 600 just for IUI procedure. Excluding med/inj. Hahaha

Haha, its different people different perspective☺️

Yeah will be going for IUI again. It was my first time and I don't think DH and I qualify for IVF at this moment because they can't find anything wrong with us and we haven't hit the age limit.

Cool, thanks for the update! what is the minimum age in order to do IVF?

i think 3.5k include all the med scan etc... i have already spend 2k on all the med ,supplements n hubb supplements scan n hsg scan..
Ya it's so true the costs of scan, supplements and med can literally burn a hole in your pocket. The costs of doing the above tests can easily hit $1k plus in NUH (private).

Called KKH - $2.5-$3.5k for the procedure, excluding tests and medication!
Like that, doing IUI at private or government hospital, not much difference
