Fetal pole too small and no heartbeat means miscarriage?

I just went for my checkup, am supposed to be 7w6d based on last check 2 weeks ago. While the fetal pole and yolk sac can be seen now, there is no heartbeat. And doc says it’s too small for the current gestation period (similar to that of a 6w+) so it has probably stopped growing since then. He then proceeded to conclude it as miscarriage. He only did a tummy ultrasound for me, asked me to see him in another 10 days and warned me about the upcoming cramps when my body starts to expel the tissue.

Would anyone have similar experience to advise me? Does anyone have similar experience but the pregnancy still went on fine? Am hoping for a miracle that the babe is growing but just slow or the doc mixed up my gestation period...
