Wei Lin, so one month different only. My boy very small size, only 9.6kg but tall lor, my mum blamed it on BM. I just stopped BF last month. We wan to put him for half a day programme cos he is too hyper, full of energy, needs to utilise his energy. He is teaching my neighbour's boy who is 3 years old the bad things..... sigh. If dun send him somewhere, I will go crazy soon.... heehee..... I better go check out the newton kiddy asap, then decide. If dun like, then our choice will be Blossom Monte at serangoon garden for half a day, but will only let him start next year after his vaccine. PD said if we put him in CC, then advisable to have the pneumoccocal vaccine. So we will wait till he turns two cos then only one vaccine. If do it now, need to vaccine two. I let u noe once I go check out Newton Kiddy. Good nite!

Hi Sally,

I stay near KK hospital. Hence GUG is the nearest. So my gal is the oldest among the three, she born in March.

I have not been to Newton Kindy.

For me I will proceed with LV and see how it goes, if she tends to fall sick easliy, I will switch her to playgroup those 3 times per week until she is ready for nursery, provided my SIL willing to send her to school.

Looking for CC, playgroup and school, really take up alot of the time, i have been seeing myself going round during my off and leave days.

Funny: For me, I am considering Newton Kindy Cherie Pies Programme for a yr. Guess 3 times a week is sufficient at such a tender age. Then I will switch her to Barker Rd Kindy in Jan08.

I do agree that it's tedious. Don't think our mums did school searching during our time. Kekeke...

I got my 12 bins storage. My hubby was actually disappointed as he felt it's not sturdy enough. For me, what more can we ask for a $80 toys storage right? To me, it's rather useful. I use it to store her shichida/flashcards materials, puzzles and small books.

Who is going to accompany your gal to the class since you are working and they a caregiver to accompany for 6 months ?

oh, my time I only attended 1 year of kindergarten and after that straight to P1. I dun think my mum search around, she just placed me at the PAP kindy downstairs. My mum even told 1 year is enough though that time they have 2 years of kindy.

I am looking for a storage place, high enough for my gal to reach and yet enough space to put all the toys, flash cards, very greedy... I think very difficult hor.

The height of this toy storage bins is good enough for toddlers. They can access to the toys easily.

Hello Funny n Wei Lin, me too also tempting to get the 12bins storage. Currently I have two book shelves, toddler size $12.50 each from Giant, not bad, to put his book and some of his toys. He can actually take n put back the toys himself. Wan to get the Pooh one which one mum posted some time ago, but too ex, and no reply from email.

I also tempting to get the thomas toy rack but scared not solid enough. Cos messing those toys in the box, though he makes a mess when he wan sth, he will clean up and put back when finish. Tot those storage bin will be easier to sort out the toys.

As u can see, dun have sharp edges. good height too. My sis bought for me from giant at sembawang shopping centre. Not too long ago. Maybe u call n check first if still have. U can come over to my place n see too.

Same as weilin, 2 jabs and cost $200 plus per jab. Luckily i still can claim from co.

1st jab was ok. 2nd jab she happened to develop very high fever till i need to rush her to kkh at midnight but it's like few days later after the jab. Not sure it's due to the jab or other virus. According to the kkh doc, it's due to virus not the jab.

I have not gone for the MMR yet. I heard that will cause fever too after 1 week later.

I might send my gal to LV earlier, probably 2 weeks b4 dec end cos my SIL is going for holidays that 2 weeks and myself and hubby got to rotate to take leave. So i think might as well take this time to send her there. if not i got to take leave again during the 1st week of jan.

If your kid is on enfra and has constipation. It may not be a good idea to go to Gain IQ. My son and my daughter has constipation. I thought my son is bad, but my daughter is worse. Quite a number people kids also got constipation while on Gain. So now we switching her to enfra first. If does not work, may switch her to others.

You may want to dilute her milk first. That is what the PD advise.

Wow both of u have let your gals done the vaccine liao. I m still thinking as I scare got side effect. PD suggests after 2 years cos then only one jab, since he is home most of the time. But if I putting him to CC/playgroup, then must lor. I m in a dilemma. Some said no good, some said good. Sigh.

I also dun noe how to potty train him. But now he poo in his diaper, he will ask me to change, telling him stink (in mandarin) that he has shit. Or when his diaper gets heavy, he will ask to change too.

My boy is on Friso Gold 3, cheap S$18.70 for 900g compare to rest, cos he cant take most of the FM, kanna LS, esp if took Gain, non stop LS.

I give my boy oatmeal or barley cereal in the morning for breakfast, so he poos everyday.

Gain for 900g is $24.90. Can try what hopeac has suggested. Another way is slowing introduce the new milk to them. Probably half enfapro and half enfagrow till she gets used to it.

Eating cereal also helps in poos poos.

no, din send my son to MMI enrichment, coz Kovan is not convenient for me as i dun have car.. now sign him for JG. may consider sign him for Shichida for next term.. but hor i afraid i cannot practice at home everyday..

just ask ask u mummies, did u flah card everyday to ur child? i once done for a while, but later give up liao coz cannot flash 3 times perday.. and after reading books etc, no time to flash also... i feel very guilty and stressed compared to mummy here..

I visited Blossom Monte at Serangoon and Hougang. I liked both centres but prefer Hougang as it's nearer to where I stay. However, need to be on waiting list for Hougang. As it was my first time visit, i didn't check thoroughly some details.. Like how's the food menu, their toilet cleanliness, etc.

Pardon me, this was my first visit to childcare centres... What are some of the things we should look out for? They showed me the cirriculum, rather impressive.

Did any mummies hear of Brainy Buttons Kindergarten at Yio Chu Kang? Any comments? Heard they focus on right braining learning.. Thinking of visiting them.

My boy taken the vaccine too, after 2 yrs old. I must said, no side effect. But we fed him with fever medicine for that night itself. Otherwise, he has been well and I felt it did him good, cos' I was down with flu for 2 weeks and thank God, my boy didn't catch the flu bug at all! Previously, he would catch my flu bug easily.. I was glad I did the vaccine. It's advisable for children below 5 yrs to take this vaccine. Better protection.

Now, planning to give my boy the flu vaccine.

Dun feel guilty or stress ya.. I used to flash card for my boy almost daily...but didn't continue for long..No time, tired after work, etc.. Initially I felt bad too.. But I learnt to take it easy. Learning should be fun and enjoyable. Not to stress yourself.

Now, my boy has outgrown those flash cards. Perhaps, just flash it whenever u r available or yr son shows interest. In this way, more enjoyable for both.

it's about 15mins walking distance from Hougang MRT. It's actually directly opposite the Holy Innocents High School. You have to walk pass Hougang Mall to reach the school and then use overhead bridge to cross over to Blossom Monte.

I was also influenced by other mummies before I finally decided to sign her up for shichida.
Fees ain't cheap in the long run when they go to playgrp/cc/other enrichment programmes.

I will not be sending my dd to newton playgrp. thought it was still to troublesome to send her to n fro. Decided to send her to NTUC daily playgrp, within walking distance, for 1 yr before she goes Barker Rd. Sigh* Change of mind again! My hubby gave up on me. Kekeke....

Wei Lin, where is NTUC playgroup near Novena? I tot NTUC only childcare. Halfday childcare for playgroup charging at S$275 after subsidy a month for playgroup.

I also wan JG but find location not convenient.

Sally: The NTUC playgrp is at Whampoa area. They have playgrp flex-programme here for 18-36 mths only. It's only $150 after subsidy! Thought it will be good to keep her occupied during the wkdays. Don't want her to spend too much time at home with maid alone.

How is Shichida compared to GUG?

Sally: Ya, thank God they have a daily playgrp! Save the hassle of travelling down to Newton. Though the curriculum ain't fantastic, but I guess my dd should be able to learn something from there.

Shichida and GUG are 2 very different programmes. Shichida emphasizes on right-brain training. GUG's curriculum is close to that of a pre-sch with singing, crafts, phonics etc.

For me, GUG is improving. Thumbs up for zoo phonics. My girl should make the F sound and S sound and sign quite a no of the animals in zoo phonics.

As for Shichida, my girl is enjoying her activities there. And I have been faithfully doing home training for the past 2 wks. Hope I am motivated enuff to continue. keke....

My girl sees Dr Ong at Aglow (United Sq) since she was born. Highly recommended. Patient &amp; caring doctor!
