hi babyjosh
firstly, i won't be able to know how amazon packs the items when orders are placed. that is determined by the merchant. also, the no. of packages that amazon will use to pack the orders.
as a spree organizer, i can only warn if item is bulky but won't know if its packed excessively until it reaches CGW.
for my spree, all spreeists in that spree batch will bear the weight of their own items and remaining box weight is divided in proportion to their weight of the items to derive the shipping charges.
so, if for that particular spree, 1 of the box is excessively large and qualify for repacking service by CGW at US$5 repacking fee, i will opt for that, to help spreeists to save shipping charges.
actually, each amazon spree batch will NEVER ever come in 1 package. more often it will come in numerous packages. it is not unusual to have 7 or even 8 packages per spree batch. the higher the no. of packages, the higher the shipping charges. this again, is also beyond my control even though i can select the option in amazon to use as few packages as possible when shipping out. amazon will always try their best to ship out speedily, once items are available. good for domestic shoppers but for us, international shoppers, the greater the no. of packages, the more hefty shipping charges we need to bear.
hope above info helps. thanks!
