2WW - for those TTC-ing

i check up prof ng and the nurse advise 2.0 to them is preggy le, except hcg to low and might be not viable.

anyway, coz now cycle menses up, she propose i regulate le, then go thru another round of iui, or other options.

but i guess this mth no fate see prof ng as he is away next whole week.

see how, really duno what to do, take a step at a time.

probably you have replied this question umpteen times but just wanted to know what is the next step to do since hubby and I have been trying TTC for the past 1 year plus but still no good news. It was always false alarms.... depressing. Not to mention everyone I know seems to be pregnant or giving births.....haiz.....

We have not been to see a gynae yet. I want to know what would we be asked to test. I know I got thalessimia, so is the blood test necessary? I have very regular menses.

Would my hubby be asked to do sperm count? Is it done at the clinic? Or do we have to book an appt at KKH ourselves?

I heard my friend saying probably I have to take medication for O or something. How is this done? I heard there's also injection or something?

i am okie lah, gotten over it le, the sadness was due to the 'potential preg symptom" of spotting etc.

till now, i dun tink full AF came. got spotting, got red on off....so probably have to wait a few more days bah.

i might go for cycle monitoring and start treatment following cycle. see if i fated to see doctor.

I'm going to do my IUI tmr...
Today scan show that I have 3 big follicles and the rest are considered small. So Dr say can do iui.
Maybe because I stop my puregon jab for a day and the small ones stop growing or slow down in growth.
Now keeping my fingers crossed that the IUI will be successful.

Perhaps you mat want to see a gyn first. It will be better to see one that is expertise in fertility treatment.
For me, I am currently seeing Dr SF Loh at KKH.
Dr Loh put me and hubby on some tests.
For me, I did a HSG scan (to see if my tubes are blocked) and my hubby did his seamen anaylsis test.
After that Dr Loh prescribed me with clomid to help me ovulate.. also becos my menses cycle very long- abt 35-58days.
While on Clomid, Dr Loh asked me to try "naturally" and see how.
So aft Clomid and still no good news...He suggested SO-IUI.
Currently, I am on this treament. Tmr going for my IUI.

Dear catmon, the puragon jab lei? fong discuss with u during fist iui session if fail to add on puregaon??

i was disappointed as there was no prior discussion if failed, wat protocol for 2nd iui. instead only informed by nurse to stick on same protocol.

i managed speak to him. mention i reacted well to clomid, so just continue with same protocol. but i raised concern of follicle size full maturing and hubby sperm (which he say quite good). Gotten him to prescribe me with puregon jabs and give my hubby vitamins.

hence, decided to stick on with him for a cycle more. spent $400+ today

My good fren always tell me that although I may take a longer and harder way to motherhood...But I'll get there some day...Its just a matter of time.

So I believe all of us here will get preggie some day too.
Especially where there is so many fertility treatments . From western medication to chinese med. ...accupuncture...
We may take longer than others to get preggie and need to find the suitable treatment...but we'll get to motherhood someday.

Sometimes, I too don't understand and get frustrated as to why I can't get preggie easily compared to many of my frens but I guess some things happen for a reason.

Let's all jia you : )

I am new here..I am trying to have 2nd baby. Now my son is 6 years old and I had it by natural. My gynae found out the left fallopian tube is blocked so need to do surgery to unblock it. After that I am considering to do SO-IUI. Is there any one succeeded on first attempt? Does anyone knows how much is per cycle for SO-IUI?

are you going for laproscopy? if yes, you might wish to consider ttc naturally for a few cycles as there are success stories after laproscopy.

yah, my buddies encouraged me with the same.
esp one whom tried 3yrs till she got her ist bb via iui. She has been my support during this whole iui process.
her path has been tough, 10X over of clomid, hsg, laproscopy etc and previous gynae couldnt detect her problem. hence she was quite shocked to learn of her success with iui.

hey hey gals! I'm back fr hols! Had a fair share of stress, tiredness and fun. Stress coz we cldn't find accommodation on our 1st/2nd nite (got big event in Perth over the wkend); tired coz our boy not behaving; fun coz we had lots of great fresh foods.

No miracle, no luck still. AF reported on last day of trip. Went to see LC yesterday and officially embarked on so-iui. started low at 75iu only. Jab myself for the 1st time this evening and i'm not sure if i really did jab. The nurse instructed that i shld depress the injection button all the way, but i'm not sure if i've done so. I jab 2nd time to do it again, still i can't depress the button fully. Did u have any experience to share on tis? Otherwise, i got to call clinic on Mon to confirm. wat if i din do it the rite way?! btw, is the pre-filled pen puregon? it doesnt' say anywhere on the medication box leh. The pen alone cost me $295. The visit yesterday was $400++. wow, i wonder what will be the total bill eventually.

Hubby wanted me to claim the cost fr medi-save. But when i checked with nurse, she said only ivf can claim. is that so? LC said otherwise that we can claim $6K for 1st time, $4K 2nd time, and another amt 3rd time round. He said better save the claim for IVF, rather than so-iui. So confused. anyone knows?

need advice..

i was doing SO too.. injected 50iu, but only 1 follicle.. kinda upset and demoralised. My follicle size as of today is 21mm, but i still have not tested +ve on opk.. not even faint line. Can you gals shared your experience what size you have tested +ve on opk? the bigger the egg, the lousier the quality?
 
Hi all.. I am going for ops this month as my right tube is blocked.. Probably that's the reason why i was unable to conceive.. but my left is ok and still cannot conceive.. Haizz i don't know.. My doc in kkwh advise after the ops i can try soiui or ivf.. My hub not into ivf so i was thinking of soiui. But how does it go about actually? and what's the charges for it? Should i go ivf straight or soiui? Cause i know the chances in soiui is not much but i don't know.. Really get very upset every month when i come my mensas. Sometimes i feel like giving up.. Please, please explain to me how and what should i do best... Thanks a million guys!!!

i'm still new to so-iui coz just started. But i tot as long as the follicle grew till 18mm, it's matured enough and your gynae shd be triggering it soon. wat was your gynae's comment on your 21mm follicle? u mean must test +tve on opk b4 so-iui procedure can be carried out?

i need to jab with puregon also this cycle, on cd7-cd9, wiht 75units.
cd2-6 is on clomid. this is iui or so-iui??
the jab and puregon pen is different right??

i spent 300+ too for clomid and puregon.
this pregnancy journey is costing us lots $$$ too.. but i guess its all worth it.

eeei....unless you have no intention for ivf, then you might consider claiming. else leave it for ivf, but off course, am sure you wont need to claim it

After IUI..I keep feeling very bloated and stomach distended. Not sure if its suppose to be like that??

I too had a bit of problem trying to push down the button for the puregon pen...In the end, I turn the button anti- clockwise...seems to work easier for me...

As for the medisave, what LC cheng said is right. you can use for up to 3 times - IVF or SO-IUI..My gyn is at kkh..but I guess for medisave..it should be the same.

But I was advised byt the nurse not to waste the medisave for SO-IUI and to keep for IVF instead.
But I think I remeber her saying if after SO-IUI and I become preggie, I can still choose to use medisave..but mustbe done by the next few mths or something like that..I'll go find out cos I just did my SO-IUI

actually it depends, it can grow from 18 to 24mm.. i read from some websites, some grew up to 34mm..thats strange.. it depends how the gynae wants. For me, its SO, without IUI as i will do it naturally, so i need to use OPK to test for surge before the gynae will inject HCG to trigger.

I did Clomid with Dr Fong last year for awhile & I didnt respond well. So I told him in Dec that I would like to go for SO-IUI as I would like to get preggy by 2009. He was surprised by my confidence in getting preggy so he told me to go straight for Puregon.

i'm doing so-iui. I'm supposed to jab on CD2-10 or longer. no clomid or other oral medication leh. Until now i oso dun know wat i'm jabbing myself, only know tat it will grow the follicles. Maybe i shd post a pic of the pen here later. i'm still not sure if i jab the correct way last evening, but it seems i had pushed the injection button all the way. tink i better call nurse to confirm again.

Hubby wants to claim medisave coz he doesn't want to fork out hard cash. while i wanted to save for "rainy day" (ie ivf). maybe in the end, i have to fork out fr my own pocket money...

i tot u're not supporse to turn the button once the dosage has been set? i so scared the needle will break if i pressed too hard on the button leh. But when the nurse jab for me the 1st time, it seemed that she just press the button lightly.

yesh, puregon is to assist the follicles grow. When u inject, make sure the pen is straight so u wun feel pain when u pull it out later. I always numb the area wit ice-pack 1st ...so wun be so painful when Hub inject.
Yep, I din use the medisave claim as well. I wanna save it for IVF should I fail in IUI.

if opk tested +ve, you don't need hcg trigger liao right? i tested +ve opk when follicle was 19mm.

Who's asking about bloatedness after iui??
I had a one hell difficult time with bloatedness, tightness, tummy was real big!!!

probably you can go slow on your food??

Btw, for your bloatedness, etc, did you ask the doc if it is OHSS (ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome)? It can happen for ladies under-going jabs, etc.. I know that it can be quite common for ladies going thru IVF. check with your doc. a thing which you can do to elevate the syndrome is to increase your protein intake.. take abt 2-4 egg whites daily. it should help and the additional protein can help with the egg growth..

re: OHSS, i saw a lady that had it before after her ivf was done, within a few days, her weight ballooned by 7kg due to water retention and she was hospitalised immediately...

you cant turn the pen in opposite direction, you will cause some leakage for the puregon, and they will be wasted.. you can turn all the way to 500iu and push back again to restart. If this is not your first shot , and you cant press the button down during injection, then perhaps your contents is finished, you need to start a new bottle. whats the dosage are you having?

still need to depend on the gynae. for my case, no matter wat still need to take HCG to mature the egg and release it within 36hrs. Cos some eggs might grown to the correct size and not matured or eventually not released..

I understand from some IVF ladies in another thread. You can ease your bloatedness by drinking lots of warm water. You can also use warm/hot towel to soothe your tummy area. They certainly helps.

oh, you have more follicles. that's make sense to hv hcg trigger. for me, i only got 1 matured follicle. when i asked my doc, only one? he said yalah, if not how many you want? then we all burst out luffing.

no leh, i only have 1.. pathetic 1.. but HCG is still triggered cos i haven tested postive.. i did asked my gynae, they only encourage 1-2 follicles to minimize multiples complications..but 1 is too pathetic, what if it doesnt contain egg..and the chances is higher if got 2..

i did highlight to gyane and nurse.
Gyane say the bloatedness and discomfort/pain after iui, could be due to overstimulation of O coupled with the hcg jabs, progesterone jabs and oral pills.but didnt share with me the term OHSS

can you imagine, when my af coming, updated gynae again that i no longer feel bloated these few days.
i was shocked to learn of his comment " coz i am no longer pregnat"

but in the first place, he didnt consider me pregnant coz my beta hcg was only 2.3.

it really leave me confused, puzzled!!!anyway, i've decdied to go thru with him again, just have to trust him

this round iui, i tried to go light on food.
so hopes it realli helps to reduce bloatedness

okie.. try the egg white thing.. i heard it helps from the IVF ladies.. I had to do the same thing also. my doc told me it helps to prevent OHSS. and also got to drink lots of water...
think there was a stage where i had to take 10 egg whites per day...

btw, if it is OHSS, it might get worst when you get preggy.. so got to take care if that's the case as it is life threatening.

huh? how come your doc say that?

oh, last iui, i ate 1 egg a day (white and yolk)

tink i very jialat, last pregnancy GP suspect i hvae DVT, deep vein thrombosis, coz my leg swell till like pig trotter and cant walk. went A&E.

really hope can have a smooth smooth pregnancy, but prior to that, let me get preggy first.

I'm the one asking abt boatedness...I started feeling like that after the IUI on saturday.
Today,It has subsided alot..I've been drinking alot of ginger tea to get rid of the wind...

For me ...it was dificult to squeeze the tummy fats and press down the injection button.
Then I noticed that when pressing down the button...it actually clicks anticlockwise and back to 0 units.
Heehee..so I thought just turn anticlockwise easier..keke

the 2nd pic is when i've already injected and i can still see the red markings on the injection button. Prior to that, i've to pull it out to have a red indicator arrow pointing at the required dosage at 75.

I've got to learnt to be brave to embark on this journey. I tink the urge to become mummy again has given me lots of courage to jab myself. i oso scared at the tot of it at the beginning. But having heard gd news fr Alien and catmon, i'm willing to give it a go. M going to see LC this coming wed for a scan. Wat to expect? i kinda of having lots of clear discharge today, as if during O. Is zit normal? do i need to eat egg white as of now?

I tot the more matured follicles there are, the higher the chance mah

I've just started using the pen at 75, so contents can't be finished. I tried very hard to push the button at pic 2, still it wldn't go down. So perhaps that is the max it will go.
