Hello all...

Recovering from my hectic weekend last few days and now it's mid-week and time to look forward to weekend again

Fuzzybear - My MIL the opposite of yours.. Very liberal with what she gives my boy. We clashed b4 cos i raised my concerns abt the amt of salt, oil and soy sauce that she add to his food.. sigh.. now i resigned to it and just try to give him healthier options during the weekends

I'm now in the midst of getting a maid cos think we need help at least to tide over the first two crazy years of infancy.. Quite a headache cos everyone tells me the agencies' maid bio are mostly padded up..if like that how to choose?!!

Kindabueno, oh my MIL feeds age inappropriate food. like egg white at 6 mths etc. but my #1 has food allergies so when she sees the rash, she get very scared. we told her point blank if she anyhow feed him food we don't agree, we will remove him from her care.
 
morning ladies, counting down to my amino tmr. feeling a bit kan cheong abt it but at the same time looking forward. to me its like the end of the wait is coming. opt for fish test, so i should get my result by the end of this week.

fuzzybear, ur mil cooking skill sounds like my mil. last time before getting married, both her son eats her food without complain. but once married, both complain like crazy. its like finally they have tasted better home-cooked food. according to my bil, my mil fish taste like chicken, chicken taste like turkey. lol... like ur mil, she overcooks everything. but i still have to eat at her place every nite

tv, i too nv let my #1 watch must tv. at most 0.5hr per weekend leapfrog. so she is the type that can sit down for 3hrs wedding dinner without much disturbance. most ppl think that she very guai but i think it training and of course im very strict and fierce.

xuan, during #1 i wanted to have a boy, coz i hope that i can dress him up like my hub. now #2 i actually hope for a gal coz i find gals so much cuter and i cant imagine being a mummy to a boy.

fuzzybear: if it's a girl hub says he's also ok lah.. just that he clueless abt girls' clothes so cannot offer advise abt wat to buy for her. then maybe less "bball fanatic" with girl lor.. must buy dolls all those my hub dunno also, he only knows how to buy cars, bikes n guns. lol..

good to know that ur clot is getting faint! my detailed scan will be on my wk21. next wk will by gg for my wk20 appt with gynae 1st. haha..

mummychua: i think cos it's my #1 so i dun have gender preference. if hub is happier with boy then i hope it's the gender he wants lor.. if i have #2 then it's my turn to have preference liao. haha.. plus actually it's quite cute to imagine my baby looking like hub. hope baby has dimples like daddy! tho i know dimples is actually a defect. =x

gosh i can really imagine the potential conflicts man.,i'm on ok terms with my MIL even though we stay together but she very much leave us alone as we stay in a jumbo flat, so one apartment we stay, she stay the other apartment.
i'm sure bound to have conflicts after baby is born, really hope it won't be as bad ba...
also since i've agreed to let mil take care of baby i also must have the "close one eye" mentality, afterall she took care of 5 kids herself including my hubby...

finally it's midweek! 2 more days to the weekend..
 
Xuan, did u check out Gymboree? u can also check out Janie and Jack. their stuff more ex, but material is super duper gd. I have a few tees kept from my #1 time.. the collars all very gd.. tees all nv go out of shape. i like their stuff though they are so much pricier cos their designs very clean cut and classic. Actually now gd to buy stuff. cos in another 2 mths, the warmer clothes will come on sale as autumn and winter approach. gd to get some gd looking stuff for baby's first mth, then Christmas then CNY!!

Actually with gals, u gotta be a bit gentle with them.. cannot rough house too much.. i also scared if i have a gal, will come out to be tom boy or butch.. i super worrysome hor? why don't u see ur gynae after ur detailed scan? do u have to see him again after ur scan?

Mummychua, yup i rem ur amnio is tmr.. hang in there.. prayers with u. I pity u for having to eat lousy cooking daily. i cannot tahan! when i was expecting #1 she volunteer to cook for me once a wk. she can cook one dish with sliced meat and veg and tell us to eat that one dish with rice. more often than not, we throw her dinner away cos it was damn pathetic. I can tahan a bit of overcook chicken but what i cannot tahan is overcooked fish! damn gross! plus she does all her shopping at NTUC (sorry i m a wet market gal) and can tell me NTUC's food like fish is very fresh.. duh..
 
fuzzybear, great to hear that the clot is getting smaller and u have finally put on weight! really happy for u. like the way you discipline your kids, not many parents can stand firm like u do, keep it up!

xuan, my hub also wants a boy! that day we went gynae, my little one crossed the legs so can't see and gynae commented 50% girl then he so disappointed & my gynae joked of course 50% boy, 50% girl ma! need to wait for the next visit & check if can see the gender..

Yes. who says sahm v free. I have friends told me straight in my face tat sahm very free why cant i join them for adhoc meetups? I told them v free if i am a taitai, dun have to care for my kids and i dun nd to do housewk or cook at all.
Just a suggestion, u and ur hb take turns to do the housework so tat 1 of u can spend time with the kid n still the housework gets done??

Gd tat ur hb is more organised and has gd $$ sense. At least one of u can act as a check and balance.
I know hw u feel. I also feel guilty tat my hb pays for everything we spend and still gives me allowance. Somehow some ppl just dun think well of sahm. I once asked a lady if she is a sahm , she replied "oh no!! I am very bz as i am working. I am nt as free as sahm". Duh. I duno hw to respond aft this.

If u engage a maid, mayb ur mum will start arrowing ur maid and complaining to u abt her. U will end up having to solve "complains" she may have on ur maid.

Nope. I nv intend to send my #1 to fullday cc. I dun feel gd with him being away for whole day and missing out the bonding at hm or with the siblings. The only reason why i send him to a cc is coz tts the best sch i like ard my area. I prefer church kindy better but the nearest one is quite a dist away so for convenient sake i settle for a morning session cc. N with #3 on the way i dun wan him to feel tat coz of the baby i pack him away for full day. Likewise for #2, if i put her to halfday cc next jan she may feel tat i do tt coz of the baby. I cant bear to put her in cc nw coz i feel she is too young n if anything happen in sch she cant relate to me fully. Seems like i am finding trouble for myself when i can just pack them off to sch. Haha. I will just try out first, adapt n adjust from there.

My boy plays with my gal's toys and likewise for my gal. My gal can tell me she likes lighting mcqueen n thomas. Haha. I think mayb coz u and ur bro age gap is bigger so by the time u were playing with certain toys he outgrow tat stage already? My bro used to play with my barbie and i with his lego =p

Toddlers class as in cc full day? Mayb by then u can start planning for #2 and ur mum will get bz all over again =p anyway, age is also catching up for our parents. So sometimes they may also get v tired from working and helping to take care of grandkids.

All kids love tv but i am v strict abt tv/screen time. No watching of tv on weekdays. Only on PH and weekends. 1 hr per day.

fuzzybear: i browse at gymboree briefly (today's online shopping havet start yet. lol..), their things look quite exp also leh. i stingy mummy dun want to spend too much on baby's clothes cos always hear that they outgrow it tooooo fast. maybe toddler n children clothes i will invest more cos can dress handsome handsome or pretty pretty liao. hahaha..

i also very chor lor 1.. my hub always slap my thighs asking me to sit properly in the living room. sometimes i laugh when i imagine next time i have a daughter who sits like me n the daddy needs to slap 2 thighs. lol..

i thinking this mth i can see baby twice instead of only once mah.. so ok with the wk20 gynae n wk21 FA scan arrangement lor. after FA scan dun need to go gynae clinic again, i just wait 3wks after for next gynae appt lor..

Kris: at 1st i feel quite stress tt my hub keeps saying wants a boy leh.. cos i scared disappoint him. but he says if girl he also will happy lah.. haha i think he say tt to comfort me only.

i'm also drafting out the things that need to be done while i'm on ML, i saw the things i need to do from home n i feel quite stress already. think i will talk to my boss soon n see if there are other alternatives, cos i feel quite "lugi" also to work from home during ML. but am also worried she will ask me to take my ML flexibly cos i prefer to take 1 whole stretch. sigh.
 
oh n Val... i want to eat ba zhang so so much! in fact my craving came advance, i already had 1 last mth. lol.. but now my craving became more challenging, makes me want to eat homemade ba zhang! seriously dunno where to find homemade ones. plus the price is crazy now also. =(

Kris, must think of disciplining as life long process.. don't keep thinking that it is ok to let go once in awhile.. cos u are actually giving conflicting signals to the kid which confuses him. that might lead them to having meltdowns because u gave in before and he rems it so he can't understand why u won't give in this time around. I think consistency is the key.. once u pick up a certain rule (like no tv at meals), everybody, inclding caregivers, must follow it. if u nv offer an alternative to the kid, he won't be fussy and accepts his daily routine as a norm. Like when it is dinner time, my son will put his toys away and sit at the table. or when his tv time is over, he will automatically switch off the tv and go to bed. no fussing or screaming cos he doesn't know that any alternatives but this.

Val, i do agree that it won't be nice to ur #2 if u start half day cc in jan.. will make her feel as if #3 displaced her. aiyah my new boss is the super kan cheong type that doesn't use her brains.. she doesn't like it if i suggest alternatives and our big bosses agree with me. plus she wants immed answers to emails which i can't do since i was on mc so she shut me out of a lot of things lor.. nothing much to do recently.

i think it is better to take ML one shot too.. i gave up 1 mth of my ML for my #1 cos i couldn't afford to take the last mth.. oh well.

As for shopping, in the first 6 mths i don't really have many nice clothes.. but because we are giving birth near the festive season, have to get something decent to wear. i usually get one nice suit for the first mth cos it will be the first time my extended relatives see the baby.
 
ya ya i am looking for a cute xmas outfit already! haha.. super early i know. but cute lah.. n yes will get some nice clothes for 1st mth cos it's the time to "show off" baby. lol..

i prefer 16wks full stretch too so that i can have better caregiving planning for baby. if half here half there like so messy n confusing..

xuan, i got homemade nyonya zhang from my friend :p actually its better to get 4 months ML in one shot, more time to get use to the new bb and all the challenge that comes with bb. hope that you can know your bb gender soon. can see that you are quite a bit of a shopcoholic.

for my amino tmr, i didnt tell my boss anything, planning to throw MC tmr and maybe Friday too. But i end up having 1 meeting early in the morning, a tender discussion with boss and a customer opening luncheon. all not planned by me. hope that my boss wont kill me when he sms him abt my MC tmr morning. :p

Fuzzybear & Val - I will be the same as u all to restrict e kids watching TV, playing ipad/iphone. Cos is really damaging to e eyes & maybe to e learning development. Plus, my hubby n me wear spec n i got super high degree over 1.4k per eye. Thou likelihood my kids will inherit e weak eyes, still better to do alot of prevention. Hope e grandparents will cooperate to off e TV.

Xuan, i gg to register bb to ifc 1st. Then if i change my mind to ask my mama take care, at least i hav a place in ifc. Can register e First Skool in 2 location? Tot of puttin e bb near my own parents/relative. At least any emergency, can ask my relative to pick up.

i used agent to buy from taobao. last time i use peeka.sg, this time i'm planning to try 65daigou.com cos heard that their shipping is cheaper. peeka service has been good for me tho.

i bought some of my wedding stuffs from taobao also last time. lol.. some of the stuffs are really cheap, but hor i realised for carter's baby wear, buy from original website better cos the price is abt the same. there's a risk from buying from taobao tho, sometimes the quality may not be very good. but so far the things i bought during my wedding time are all quite ok.. =)

They give a very ugly shape and support is not really good, will prone to blocked ducts. Maybe we can consolidate some orders, then ask the seller whether she can give a bulk discount or not??

these prices are before shipping to sg. depending on agent, some charge shipping base on weight of item, some charge base on size of item. so bigger, heavier stuffs may have higher shipping price. shipping costs also varies according to ur shipping mtd. eg, 3 days express by air is definitely more exp than sea shipping.

i bought my wedding shoes, sisters' corsages, brothers' bow ties n misc stuff from taobao last year. oh n also my short wedding dress for after party! lol.. then after that when revampng our room, i also bought a self-assembled storage cabinet, wallpaper (my hub diy stick it on the old wardrobes), n personalised wall clock. my mum also asked me to help her buy those big storage boxes made of some cloth-like materials cos she said she saw it in sg but very exp.

Mawanab: hehe.. yes but can wear black color not so obvious.. or if arm hole really big then wear another tube inside.

Cheap wireless bras if wear to sleep or go out for a while, i think is ok. But they are afterall not maternity bras.
When we got BM, the boobs are full and heavy compared to a non-lactating woman with big boobs.
Also, normal wireless bras do not have gd support.. i think only ah ma's wear wireless bras.. if not why do we wear wired bras most of the time before we were preg?
If u realize, some wireless bras can fit ur cup and width, but the bra band seems to go up while the cup is going down. This means the boobs are too heavy for the bra to support.
Overtime, the boobs will sag even more.
 
Xuan, the Desitin available in SG is the smaller tube (think it is half the size as the ones in Drugstore) but the price is more ex! so usually i ship it in.. one tube can last me abt 6-8 mths. i dunno how to read chinese so i guess tabao is out for me. try rotating ur ankles.. helps with circulation.

Ya I bought a few items from there...but have to measure the sizing carefully.. Cos some of maternity that came in... I think can only last for another one to two months cos its quite small cutting.. When I tot can last till giving birth.. So now keep wearing to utilize.. Hahaha

been busy the whole morning and during lunch time, went to Watsons sale so no time to report on forum hahahaa.

my son's fever finally broke early this morning. he was still running a fever at 39 when i came home last night and his eyes were puffy as well. I was really worried. Fed him nurofen at 9pm and i kept waking up at night to check the time. i was so relieved to see 37.3 when i measured him at 430am. phew. thank God. really felt so relieved that nothing beats having your child healthy again.

i bought 3 bravado body silk seamless bras during #1's time. They are comfortable but i find the straps very thick and the removable padding quite irritating leh. it's like if you remove the padding, the nipples can be seen. if you put the padding, it doesnt seem to fill the cup probably. so i dunno if the bra is meant to be worn with or without padding. haha. and next time when you are leaking, do you put the breast pad into the padding slot or outside?

i feel like eating nonya zhang too! if i eat for teabreak later sure the smell will permeate the whole office!

SAHM is a tough job. but I came across some SAHM who send their #1 to full day cc, have a maid to take care of #2 and housework, so they are really called tai-tais and not SAHM since they do not do any mommy duties.
 
Is Desitin really better than other diaper cream? I used one tube and dont really like the smell, very medicated smell. I like Avent diaper cream, very nice smell (especially useful after your baby pooped haha) and it heals rashes fast too.

on bravado bra, i agree that the padding is a bit funny. doesn't really fit nicely. so i'll probably wear the bra only with loose clothes.

For bra paddings, maybe mine is still new so i dont face this prob yet. I assume is due to washing that cause the padding to go slightly out of shape so it doesnt seem to fit nicely?
Coz i have this prob with the paddings in my swimwear.
But i nv handwash my bras also. I put in a bra laundry bag and throw into washing machine.

What color Desitin u used? I used the blue, its gd but agree avent smells gd. Mustela too.

U used which Desitin? the blue or purple label? i use the blue one. smells powdery to me.. one application and the diaper rash will disappear. nv used the avent one so i can't comment. because my sons have food sensitivity i need to apply diaper cream after every change. cos sometimes they get diaper rash after eating something different.

I used to take out the padding before washing and each time i have difficulty putting the padding back cos can't tell from the shape whether the pointed part should be the top or bottom? dunno how to explain, hope you understand. ahahaah

Desitin - i use blue, the less strong one. I don't like mustela cos i bought the tummy cream and it caused me to itch like mad. hahaha. so i completely gave up on using tummy cream, i just apply normal vaseline body cream cos the skin there is really dry.
 
fuzzybear, haha for the watsons sale, I usually buy my makeup removal, skin cleanser, eye cream, face moisturiser, all from the Avent range as I have sensitive skin and Avent is recommended by my dermatologist last time. If buy without sale is rather ex, so i will stock up during the sale. haha.

yesterday i got quite pissed with my sister. she whatsapp me and asked why i make my parents stay so late at my house such that they only reach home at 9pm without dinner. By the time i reach home from work, is already 7pm. after "handing over" the kid to me, my mom will normally leave at 730pm. from toa payoh to cck, will take about an hour, so reach 830pm and by the time she buys dinner home is 9pm. it's not as if i make them come to myself daily, it's only because my son was having a fever that's y he cant go to CC. then she went on to say should ask my mom to stay over at my place instead. we already offered the option to my mom but she prefers to sleep at her own house. of course la, after a whole day of taking care of my son, she wouldnt want to have to do night duties as well. if she stays over, she will be sleeping in the same room as my son as the study room has no mattress. so i was kinda pissed that my sister didnt ask about my son's high fever but just kept harping on why my mom went home so late. think she is pissed that her daughter has to go to my brother's house instead during this period since my mom can't take care of both her and my son.
 
then i also wonder y my mom go and call her to complain about reaching home so late and so hungry. this is one of the reasons why i am considering getting a maid.
 
SN, I washed my bravado with the padding in it. took one side out when i first got it and after that, i also didn't know how to put back!! so that's the side that looks funny now... hahaa... totally understand you.

i still have hard time remembering which mummy is first time mummy and which mummy is 2nd time and 3rd time lol

anyway i changed my job scope totally and took a slight pay cut..which i think is worth it, a slight difference in pay minu all the stress and shit coming in..cos my previous role is pretty new also, was in brand mangement then they restructure and want me to focus more on the accounts to grow sales..so i went back to marketing now which is where my forte lies in, focusing on PR and marcoms so less stressful at least don't have to deal with buyers...

anyway also just tahan for now till maternity, after that plan to tender the day i come bk from maternity..can look after baby while looking for job loh..

re taobao: seems like more and more people buying from there but cos it's in chinese and the shipping looks complicated, i don't dare to purchase from that site yet, so far has been surfing more on gmarket.

btw. re: Johnson and johnson baby products
any mummies still using? read about the saga on their license being revoked for cosmetics due to some cancer causing ingredients but not so sure if it applies to the baby products and which category, will it be safe to use their products still?
at motherhood expo fair they have got such a huge booth and hardly any crowd inside, think everyone also siam this brand for now le.
 
noted that blue desitin is the more commonly used diaper cream among mummies here. next time i just follow to buy can already.. no need to keep doing research so ma fan. haha..

1 of my list of things to buy includes the changing mat. i rem the basic kind is the 1 side blue 1 side pink, waterproof type? tt kind can buy from where ah? din see it anywhere so far.
