Hi mummies, would like to strongly recommend my nanny Aunty Pi Sim for those who are looking for a confinement nanny!
Aunty Pi Sim came in as a last-minute replacement after my delivery, as the initial planned nanny fell ill. We hired her for 41 days postpartum to cover for a period until I had completed an examination. Despite the quick recruitment, I was extremely satisfied with her work and felt myself and baby were very well taken care of during this period.
Firstly, she was very understanding of me needing to focus on studying for my examinations, which was an extraordinary circumstance. Hence, she was proactive in assuming a lot of the care of the baby, including sleeping in same room as baby every night, bringing baby to her room in the afternoons, and attending to baby whenever she cried. This was primarily so that it would not disturb my studying. At the same time, I was able to spend time with my baby whenever I wanted to and she did not limit my bonding experience at all. I was very appreciative of this.
Secondly, she was very knowledgeable in care of the baby, including predicting baby's cues and soothing her - even when baby was very gassy and fussy with poor sleep in the beginning. Her efficient feeding helped my baby's jaundice to come down quickly and avoid need for phototherapy.
Thirdly, she was flexible and while she gave advice on traditional confinement practices & nursing, she never forced me to adopt them or nag at me for not doing so. This gave me the space to conduct my confinement in the manner I wanted, without feeling stifled. Her encouragement also allowed me not to feel stressed with regards to feeding my baby.
Fourthly, she was very resourceful with the available materials in my house, especially with regards to cooking and optimising care for the baby - so I did not have to spend time providing any direction. She was also highly proactive in maintaining the cleanliness of the house, especially the cooking area and baby's room.
There was no issue with all of the regular confinement services - including preparation of 3 delicious confinement meals each day for myself and my husband, boiling red dates & longan water daily, preparing the herbal baths, very dutiful logging of baby's intake/output data for us to know and accompanying us for baby's checkup when requested. She was highly respectful when interacting with my other family members who visited, and even struck up a good relationship with my mother.
Most importantly, she was caring towards baby which was my priority, took care of my needs very well, did not take shortcuts in her line of work, and did not overstep any boundaries. Posting this to thank her for all her help, and hope others have a good experience with her service!
