Yunzz, I take it as can suka switch cos Initially gynae was going to prescribe only enough duphaston to take after I was done with the utrogestan. Maybe I looked too miserable cos after that she asked if I wanted to start on duphaston straight away to at least relieve the fatigue. So I take it that both meds can be interchangeable. But note that she also asked me how bad my nausea and vomiting were before prescribing the duphaston.

I started on duphaston last thur nite, by Fri already felt less tired. Perhaps because I was less tired, I also felt more positive about this pregnancy. Can 'kan de kai' more.

Two reasons why I'm switching back to utrogestan. First is because my MS has lessened since Wed, so it's fine with me if I'm fatigued but not so nauseous. Second is based on what I read online about utrogestan (natural progesterone) vs. Duphaston (synthetic progesterone). Based on the little I've read so far, natural seems to be better overall. I'll still have to confirm all this with the gynae next visit.

Hello Fanny my Oscar scan is same date as you . Timing is 9am in the morning! So I took leave..

Happy mum, I am do looking forward to first trimester being over Co's at this stage, I'm still feeling very tired and with the Ms, I nearly puked while walking at times but managed to curb it.. just hope my energy and well being comes back!!! My gynea said I lost a bit of weight...
 
Hi jasmine. Mine is around 9plus as i need to go over to my gynae clinic first for blood test n ultrascan before going over toTMC for oscar test.
 
Oh fanny then we might really meet there!! Co's I heard Oscar scan take hours.. depending on whether baby in right position...my blood test will b done at tmc too as my gynea is there..
 
Hi ladies i'm new here. FTM and my edd is 1st Oct!
was looking at some of your comments on progesterone pills.

i've been spotting since the beginning so was on duphaston since week 5 until 12 and then doc switched me to uterogestan which is the same but supposed to ease the cramping i've
been feeling. i dont have any side effects from the pill the only diff is my discharge changes from pinkish to dark red.

anybody as special as me with similar symptoms??

i see my gynae every week and baby's growing great. dunno wat to do!
 
Dear Mummies,
I did my OSCAR last week. The NT scan didnt turn out well. Baby is at the 3.8mm range. However, my blood test went perfectly well.

Now i need to go for amino for further testing.Am trying to stay +ve about this.

By the way, at which stage did you go for OSCAR? 12 or 13th week?

@jasmine - My backache is really torturing me to the max. Cant really enjoy family bonding/outing nowaday. feel super sorry to my #1. Yesterday went out dinner and followed by shopping, less than 2 hours walk, I already cannot take it anymore. Go home settle everything, went and lie down on bed immediately. The pain is like broken soon type of feeling.

Nausea - still the same, vomitted a few times at home already, especially after any dairy product, such as cake, chocolate, ice cream. Lil one dun like....

I din see the little one for more than 3 weeks, worried and wondering how's everything in there. Oscar scan is on next week Thursday. So looking forward to the date.

@Karen - You are suppose to be at week #? And yes, be positive..Oscan scan normally is to done it at week 12.</font>
 
@ happy mum, i did OSCAR at exactly 12weeks. so i wonder did i do it too early that make my NT results off. Anyway, i will just go for Amino to confirm.

Pray that everything goes well and baby is healthy.

Hey presto, yup yup , ours are really close. My edd kept changing fr 3 oct to 8 oct to 6 oct. Hahaha..

U did ur oscar? My next visit is 25 apr at week 16.
 
Wenz - yups have done my Oscar, my next visit 22apr... oops.. otherwise we can see each other at the clinic ! Cant wait to find out the gender at that visit !

take care happy mum... pregnant women are more prone to giddiness and even fainting.. my gynae said our blood pressure will go lower than norm when we are pregnant.. she said to move ur feet when in stationary (stand, sit, lay down) for too long.. oso cannot change our position too quickly..

karen, my oscar test oso no gd.. i went for oscar at wk 12 too.. NT scan was ok.. but my blood test result no gd.

will go for another blood test at wk 14.. if result still not gd, then will be going for amnio test at wk 16.. like wat the rest said, for now, we can only stay positive.. *hugz*
 
sometimes i wonder what causes no gd blood test results. i realised my #2, my blood tests result significantly worsen a lot too and pulled down the results by a lot. strange.
 
Happy mum - try and stay positive. I do feel giddy and faint at times too. It's normal.. I hate to take method visit people don't give up seat sometimes.. I can only endure..

Karen and cayenne - Sorry to hear about the amino test. Do try to think positively. We will keep our fingers crossed for you. But do you know How that works? Will we be feeling it or It's done with anesthesia? My Oscar scan will b next we'd...
 
prestorabb, i did ask my gynae wat cld have caused my blood result so bad, she said it cld be really a case of DS, or maybe placenta not generating enuff of something (i cant remember wat is the something she said), or cld be other reasons.. from oscar test, she cant be sure.

jasmine, from wat i read, the whole amnio test procedure is quite fast (15-20mins), with the gynae inserting a fine syringe into ur tummy to extract the fluid. gynae will do ultrasound to determine the location n depth to insert the syringe, and making sure the syringe doesnt go close to the bb. some did mention abt slight discomfort, but process was fast that they got over it quickly. oso, after the procedure, the mother will be on bed rest for an hour before gynae call to scan the bb again to ensure tt all is well before discharging the mother. my gynae said she will prescribed medications (something like an tai yao), and mother will need 2-3 days bed rest (preferably). My gynae said the risk of mc is within the first week of the test.. so i will be taking 1 wk mc to rest..

n dun worry, ur oscar scan will be fine.

Karen, cayenne, dun worry about amnio. i did an amnio for #1. He had a cyst in his brain at wk20 and also his kidney was not really the right size after the detailed scan. we were so worried. amnio was the only option for us to test if he was normal. Thank God that everything turned out fine. the waiting time for the results was torturous. but the process itself was fine. It's just like drawing blood, just that they are drawing the amniotic fluid.

amnio carries a risk of 1/200 miscarriage. but my gynae's risk is 1/750. so i would recommend that you find a good gynae who is experienced in doing amnio. not all gynaes will have the same risk ratio.
 
btw, my gynae recently told me that there's a new test called Maternity21. It's a blood test using DNA. The accuracy is 99%, slightly less than amnio test but way higher than Triple Test. The cost is about $3800. It's more expensive than amnio but safer. You might want to ask your gynae about this Maternity21 blood test.
 
thanks SN.. i am not so worried abt the process or the result.. cos if it's a DS bb, i wont keep it.. my main worry is the risk of mc.. i'm worried if it's a healthy bb, n bcos of the test to find out if s/he is healthy or not i had caused the miscarriage, i think i will feel guilty for life..

Yes, i think my gynae offers maternity21, otherwise he wouldn't tell me that it costs $3800. I'm with Dr Chan Kong Hon, Gleneagles. His clinic is on Level 3 of the medical centre. His charges are expensive though. $155 for consultation and another $155 for scan. but i don't mind paying a premium for a peace of mind.

Yes, the oscar blood test which is the triple test is based on probability, so it's not v accurate. Another option is to wait till wk20 for the detailed scan to detect any adnormalies. If theres anything suspicious, u can then do an amnio. By wk20, maybe pregnancy more stable for an amnio? Just my guess.
 
Cayenne, ur gynae is WK Tan.. She is v experienced... No need to worry on amino if u really have to do so. We shall believe in fate too ! The baby is a gift to us.. It will be good !

noticed you are seeing dr chan. Could you provide some feedback? How are his comsultations and does he provide a detailed analysis of scans etc? My friend who was 35 when she was preggers said dr chan kept pushing amnio test for her to do (without Oscar). Do you know If this is true?

My Oscar results came back with 1:2005 which the gynae I am seeing now said is low risk. But i think it is average... I am thinking of seeing dr chan and will then decide which doc I should go for. I am turning 35 this year.

Could you share some feedback? I do know he is expensive but given this is my #1 and my age, I would opt for experience and expertise.

Little J, i have been seeing Dr Chan since my #1's time. He was recommended by my ex colleague whose mil works in the hospital and said Dr Chan is one of the best in Glen. He is v experienced and will explain every scan to you. He does not recommend Oscar since the result is based on ratio ie probabilty. But the Triple blood test is still available for those who want to take it. For mommies below 35, if the triple blood test and all scans are normal, it's taken as the baby is alright. For mommies above 35, he highly recommends amnio since the risk of DS is higher and give a definitive result compared to oscar or cvs. Anyway, his amnio risk ratio is 1:750 while most doctors are 1:200. My personal experience is that his stitching skills are really good that i didnt need painkillers after delivery. I have also read some letters and cards written by patients, pasted on the clinic walls and they said they could stand up and walk the following day after an operation without pain, quite amazing.

Yes re: amnio - I agree it is more conclusive but I am not keen to take the risk.whilst 1:750 risk factor is lower than norm it is still scary to me

especially since it took me a while to conceive this baby. I guess when I meet him and if he insists, I might consider the scan at SSR or go for the maternity21 instead.
