Hi all, i am new to this TTC journey. I have been trying to conceive for about a year. I am 40 and my husband is 10 years older than me. We know this is going to be a difficult journey but its no choice as we met each other late & hence married late.

Yesterday i blindly went to see a private gynea to start my fertility test and had an unpleasant experience. Feeling very overwhelmed and am seeking success stories from people on similar journey as me.

Not a “success story” but same boat. 40 and still trying. I also married late. If you’re serious about it one advice is to just start IVF as soon as you can and freeze however many embryos you can get as the number of eggs is running down every month, every year. If money is not a major issue then definitely go to private.

Have. The public hospital head of department told us to give up. We never gave up. At 40 year chances is not high, but not impossible. Take max supplement, max exercise, very healthy food and take max health examination including hysteroscopy and your hubby sperm dna fragmentation rate and believe in luck . Good luck to you. And neighbour above is right, try iui ivf and dont wait anymore

Thank u for being supportive. I went for my HyFoSy test couple of weeks ago and discovered i have polyps. Husband test is normal range SA. I guess i am the issue. But i not sure if i need to remove the polyps?

Hello, I can only share our experience was, we had a few implantation failure despite decent quality blasts. It was only until our chronic inflammation was resolved after half year of treatment , that our implantation was successful.

The sg doctors told us usually it unlikely to cause any problem to implantation, and that was why we transferred few times anyway. And we were told many people had no problem with it. But at least for us, it only implanted after it cleared.

All the best to you. Whether you are considering ivf or not, recommend you a very useful book, “ it all starts with an egg”.

Hi L,
I came across your post and wanted to share my story with the hope that it will give you the motivation and positive energy :) Like you, I married later in life and was naturally very eager to start a family (with more than 1 child). My husband and I began seeing a TCM practitioner who specialise in women’s health and conception. We were very fortunate to conceive naturally after about four months of drinking daily herbal concoctions (both of us!). After the birth of my first child, I struggled with hormonal imbalance, and everything seemed much more difficult.
What finally pushed me toward the IVF egg retrieval process was discovering a significant reduction in my follicle count over the years (50% reduction in a year!). Even though the IVF process was unpleasant: injections and side effects (I had bloating and migraines). But, I was incredibly grateful to have a supportive partner and a skilful doctor. I was so lucky to succeed at the age of 42, in the first try.
While on this journey, I have several close friends who also embarked on their own IVF paths late. Each has story of both success and failure, but one thing in common: we all see both IVF doctor and TCM practitioner, and never stop trying.
I wish you and your partner all the very best!
